I dont have access to my old regisyrted email add so i cant get into the skype account. How do I change the registered email add?

Your Skype Number should have been held in reserve for you to renew for a period of 90 days following the subscription end. Beyond that timeframe, the number is released/recycled back into the system.

Need help recovering old messages

I recently had to do a wipe/reinstall of a mail server, one of the users did not backup old copies of the messages in his imap account. I have recovered the old users folder from /var/spool/imap/user
How do I go about recovering the messages from that folder, and place them into his new folder?

Put the messages from the backup into the users mailbox folder and reconstruct the mailbox by issuing:
sudo -u root /usr/bin/cyrus/bin/reconstruct -r -f user/username
(replace username with actual user name/mailbox name)

Need to recover old playlists, old iTunes library will not open because it was created by a newer version?

I have a Mac mini, have installed iTunes on it and want to find some old playlists that were lost. I have several 'iTunes Libraries' with different dates but I cannot open any of them becauseit says they were created with a newer version of iTunes. Please help!

Somewhere in your process you ended up with an earlier version of iTunes than was used last with the library. iTunes 10.6.3 is the highest version that will run under OSX 10.5.8

If you had an earlier version and still want that version I am not sure how to go about this. My iTunes library file does not say it was created with a particular version, although I admit I have not looked at the .xml copy to see if it is buried in the file itself. Apple only has a very limited number of iTunes versions openly posted, though you can still find just about any version if you look in the right places. You would have to kind of start low and work your way up to where you want to be since once you open a library with a version it cannot be reverted to an earlier version (make backups first).

A recent drive failure forced a complete re-install of all windows Vista system software I was able to revive old hardisk & I need to recover my bookmarks.

I recently suffered a hard drive failure that managed to take months worth of valuable work when it failed. I replaced the hard disk drive in my laptop and completed a fresh install of Windows Vista and all the programs that were used on that system which included Firefox. After finding an exact match of the drive that failed I managed to get the drive running again by replacing the drives control board and I am now able access the data on the drive.I usually really anal about backing up all of my valuable data but I have been so busy with my current project my usual habits went to the wayside. I need to recover the Firefox bookmarks from the old drive and recover them to the new drive but I haven't been able to find the file that contains the bookmarks from the previous installation of Firefox. Could somebody please help me locate these valuable bookmark files

hello, a few days ago, the hard disk of my Macbook broke. It had 2 partitions: 1 with system and the other with working files, music, soft, and so on.
I replace the disk, and Time machine had problems with my new user and nothing went as it should have been.
Now I have lost so much information of years, music, soft and work that I need urgent at this time. Timemachine returned my backup to the first day of the new disc, but I need to recover at least one day form my old backup: someone knows how to do it?

No, Apple is not in the data recovery business.
Is this a real hard drive or is it an SSD/Flash Storage device? In some cases you may be able to use file recovery software:
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Recovery software usually provide trial versions that enable you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond this or if the drive has completely failed, then you would need to send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

If you cannot recover what you want from the above then you will need to send the drive/computer to a data recovery service such as Data Recovery by DriveSavers | All Drives, RAID, SSD & iPhones.

Is there any way to recover old text messages after update

When i updated my new iPhone OS to the new system, i had to end up doing a restore. This wiped out all my info and while i have a backup on the computer. I can seem to find a way to recover old text messages via the iMessage platform. Is there any way to recover some of those old conversations? Some have sentimental value to them.

I just need the last month of texts and I had not backed up for several months.

Look on the device.
If they've been deleted off the device, the only hope of finding them would be to restore to a backup created prior to them being deleted off the device.

Erased my disk need to recover data

So this is what happened (in details):
1. I dropped my mac book pro accidentally (Have to complain that mag safe DIDN'T WORK AT ALL)
2. By using Command+R+Power,mac checked it was caused by a damage from hard disk.
3. By using Shift, I entered safety mode.
4. Disk Utility stated that it couldn't first-aid it, so I had to erase all my data.
5. I just got my Pro for one week so I didn't time machine it.
6. After erasing all my data, I installed Mac OSX again.
7. Even though I didn't time machine it, I already transferred some important pictures to my Mac without leaving copies on my old PC.
8. I REALLY REALLY need to recover, at least, those pictures. They are so precious for me. I know it's my fault but I really do think that mac is solid.

I'm afraid that if you erased your hard drive, those photos are long gone. There are some data recovery apps out there (DIskWarrior, Data Rescue 3) that may help, but a data recovery center is likely your best bet - and they can be expensive.
I seriously doubt that you'll be able to recover your data - please look at coming up with some sort of backup scheme to prevent such a loss in the future.

I just added a new Skype number for Wisconsin, and now I wish to cancel my old Skype number with a Cincinnati area code. How do I do that? I followed the instructions, but there is no "cancel Skype number" option under my old Cincinnati Skype number. I tried finding a phone number for Skype so that I could get a live voice to help me, but never found this. How can I cancel the old Skype number?

You would have to go through the process to purchase the number, then search for it after you select the country and area code it was in. If you do not find that number, it has been resold to another Skype user or is unavailable to anyone for use as an Online Number.

I bought my iPod 30G when it first came out back in the day. With the protective case it looks like a Walkman, if you know what that is. The new ones are half the thickness of my old skool one. lol!
Anyway, years ago I accidently uploaded a virus in both my PC and laptop. Yeah, real *******. Well, the person who restored my computers couldn't save my music. I still have the iPod but my library on iTunes is gone. If I try to update my iPod in either computer it will erase every song I have on it and only upload the songs/album I'm trying to add. I'm told that this is something Apple did to prevent file sharing, blah, blah, blah...
Does anyone know a way around it? I keep buying CDs just not able to load them into my iPod thru iTunes.

There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

Pc went bad and need to recover items on a new computer

My itunes were on a pc that suddenly went bad and I need to recover what I had on a new computer.

Remove the hard drive from your old computer, put it in an external enclosure, plug it into your new computer, and use Windows Explorer to navigate the drive. Look in Documents and Settings/Users/YourName/Music/iTunes Music, or Library/Music/iTunes Music depending on the OS on your old PC. You'll likely find most of it is intact, but some files may be corrupted, and unrecoverable. Now that you have an enclosure, buy a new hard drive to put in it, and make a backup!
