Need to reduce a 2.7 MB PDF into 1200 KB

need help reducing size of a 2.7 MB PDF file into less than 1200 KB PDF

Hi Mayolie82,
Acrobat XI Pro has the feature to reduce PDF file size so you can download the trial version from www.adobe.com to your local disk or you can upgade your subscription to Acrobat Plus.
The steps to do are below:
1. Launch Acrobat
2. Open your PDF file
3. Select File menu > Save As Others > Reduced Size PDF
4. Click "OK" button
5. Rename your PDF file (so that you do not overwrite your original PDF file).
That's all.
Thank you.

  • I need to reduce the size of several pdf files before transferring them onto a research database. Each file is made up of 100 images (pages of diaries)

I need to reduce the size of several pdf files before transferring them onto a research database. Each file is made up of 100 images (pages of diaries) & is up to 1.36 GB in size. I have tried reducing file size in preview but the images are unreadable. Any ideas?

WHen I want to reduce the file size, I either use "Optimize Scanned PDF", or more often use "Reduce File Size". Both are on the Document menu. The Reduce File Size selection has some limited customization that is used, when selected.

  • Combining Contents of 2 PDFs into a single page PDF

I need to combine elements of two different PDFs into one, single page PDF.
One PDF is Template of sorts with headers to be edited, the other PDF is a non-ocr scan that includes text and images.
I've found no way to copy and paste on a single page b.t two PDFs. I've tried pasting into an inserted page and then dragging it up or cutting and pasting within the document (with the intention of deleting the unneeded second page) with no luck.
This seems like it should be such a no brainer. Open 1st PDF, Open 2nd PDF, make selection Ctrl C, go to 1st PDF, place cursor where desired, Ctrl V.   But it doesn't work at all in an intuitive way like any other document program where you can cut and paste with ease b/t documents and even b/t programs.
So instead, I've copied the part of the image PDF I want into the original word doc of the template, then created a PDF from that.  However, when I try to tell Acrobat to make the entire document OCR, it tells me it can’t b/c it contains renderable text (the header information, I’m assuming).  If I run the OCR on a PDF containing just the image, it does it no problem.
What is the best way to bring these two documents together in way that results in a single page, completely searchable PDF?

Unfortunately, another $700 software purchase is not in the cards and I can’t wrap my mind around why it should be necessary.  It seems so nonsensical to me that Acrobat has all these advanced functions for editing, combining, making portfolios etc., yet can not perform the simple task of cutting and pasting between two documents.
While Adobe support was putting me on hold, I doodled up some generic sample documents that I could upload here to illustrate the problem. Hopefully, someone can play with these and give me a workable solution.
The first PDF, Original Acme Clip, represents the file that is provided to me by our clipping service. They cut the item out of a magazine, put the customized info into their standard template in whatever word processing program they use, printed it out, pasted the magazine clip to that page and then scanned the hard copy to PDF-as an image only PDF, it is not optimized for optical character recognition and is not searchable.
The second PDF, Final Acme PDF, represents the file that our workflow eventually ends up as-a PDF containing only the info we want, formatted as we want, in which both the headers and clip content are searchable. To get there currently, we print out the Original ACME Clip, type the relevant info into the headers of a Word template that includes our logo and standard footer, print out the Word template page, manually cut out the scanned image from the PDF, and paste it onto the template paper.  The resulting paper is scanned into the Final Acme PDF and OCR is run on the whole thing to make it all searchable.
What we’d like to do is skip all the printing, and manual cutting and pasting. Any and all suggestions for work in Acrobat 9 Pro to do this would be gratefully appreciated!

    Hi Earle Rheaume ,
Using Adobe Acrobat you can directly convert the emails to PDF which would be less in size as compared to a DOC or Excel.
Also, you can convert the existing word or excel file to PDF.
    Thanks,

  • How do i reduce the size of the pdf's scanned from my printer

i scan from my printer to a pdf.  the file comes across way to big (2mb for 4 pages with no pictures & just text, etc.)  i have already re-set the settings on my scanner / printer to try to get the smallest dpi & image possible.  how do i get to the settings on my adobe acrobat to reduce the size of the pdf when saved on my computer or is this not the right place to do that?

You may need to reset that to use higher scan quality for successful OCR.

  • How can I reduce the size of a pdf file for emailing?

I want to send a pdf file which is 8 mb, it has bounced in an email because it is too big, how can I reduce the size of the pdf file for emailing?

Sometimes a simple "Save As" will reduce the file size slightly, but probably not enough to pass the <8 mb threshold of your recipient, as you need.
You've probably seen it, try the next option in the Save As menu, "Reduced Size PDF," and make it compatible with the latest version possible, again considering the recipient. This suggestion assumes Acrobat X. You don't say which version you're using, but this tool was available at least going back to Version 8, but in a different place, you'll have to hunt.
If all that doesn't work, you could remove some images from the source document, which also will reduce the overall size.
    Best luck.

  • Reducing Plot Size of Large PDFs

I have a large format plotter and a PDF that is 157 inches long x 36 inches wide.  The plotter will handle the plot, but we do not need a plot that long.  I need to reduce the plot size so that text is "readable" - I think about 50% will work.
However, I'm testing this on the plotter using Current View at different zoom scales so that I don't waste paper.
The problem I've run into is that the zoom scale on the screen and the zoom scale on the paper are not matching up.  The "Current View with Fit to Printable Area" plot looks more like 25% on paper, rather than 50%.  Setting the view on the screen to 100% gives me a 51%.  See the attached images.   The 1st, with the "Units:  Inches Zoom:  51%" is for the 100% zoom on the screen.  The 2nd, with  "Units:  Inches Zoom:  26%" is for the 50% zoom on the screen.
Is there a way in Acrobat 9.5.2 Pro to set a definite zoom scale for plotting?  Shouldn't I be able to use the slider bar under the Preview?  I am not able to adjust it at all.
Given the length of the plot, tiling is not appropriate.

Use the pdf optimizer and choose exactly which features you want to use to reduce the file size. You get much more control with the optimizer.

  • Need help reducing file size.

We're using Acrobat 8 Standard and are able to reduce an 8 MB file down to 7 MB but a fellow employee with Acrobat 9 Pro was able to reduce the size of the same file to 1.8 MB. We're doing the same function (Reduce File Size) in both apps so we're not sure why there's such a big difference in finished file sizes between the two programs. Is there a setting in Acrobat 8 Stnd that we're missing to be able to drop the file size much closer to what Acrobat 9 Pro can achieve?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

There are a lot of factors that can affect file size. PDF Optimize allows you more control over those options that does the Reduce File Size. With PDF Optimize, you can do an audit of the PDF to see what is taking up a lot of the size. Things that can affect the size include:
    1. Image resolution (PDF Optimize can reduce)
    2. Embedded fonts (subset fonts recommended to reduce size - leaving the fonts out is not a good idea)
    - Other?
That may help some. When you compare how different machines or versions of Acrobat do the file reduction, you need to simply review all of the options that are being used. Sometimes, you can get a reduction by reprinting to a new PDF, but that is not a perfect process either.

  • How can reduce the size of my pdf file?

    Hi There,
I need to reduced a scanned pdf document which is 23MB in to a smaller size so it's acceptable for email.

Acrobat can reduce PDF file sizes.  However, by how much depends largely on its content.
On the other hand, sending e-documents as email attachments is never a good idea - they can get damaged, misdirected, lost, and there is always the file size limit.
Much better is to use a file sharing service (Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, ...) - upload and share the document, then send the download link by email.

  • I need to turn a print pdf into a web ad

I have created pdf's for a print project.  I need to know how to convert the pdf's into web ads.  I have InDesign CC and Adobe Photoshop CS2.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,

You'll probably be using still images or GIF animation for final ad; another option is Flash (SWF).  Digital ad agencies sometimes require multiple file versions for expandable ads - still image, collapsed state, expanded state. Per post above, Photoshop will be sufficient to create basic stills, if you're doing animated ads you might need to get someone to help you.

  • How do you reduce file size of a PDF if Save As doesnt work?

I have been trying to reduce the size of a PDF, using the Save As > Optimized PDF method.
I have also tried Save As > Reduced Size PDF.
This is on a file made up of 20 pages of full page Jpegs. (These were generated by the script in Photoshop that generates Jpeg files from Layer Comps within the document.)
If I use Reduced Size PDF, I get a greatly reduced file size but the image quality suffers greatly. (Lots of artifacts and blurryness)
There are no options to choose the level of compression I want.
If I use Optimized PDF method, I cant seem to reduce the file size no matter what I set the Jpeg compression to.
Is there some way to cut the size of the file down but not lose so much image quality?
    Any suggestions?

Part of the problem here is that the files that are produced when I run the script to output files from layer comps are very big.
If I "save for web" for each layer comp, I wind up with way smaller Jpegs. Thus a much smaller PDF.
So the question is: Can you make the script, Layer Comps to Files, create smaller more optimized Jpegs? (Like you get when you save for web)

  • Need script to place multiple single page pdfs in ID pages

Does anyone know of a script that would place a whole folder full of single page pdf files into an indesign document one per page, alphabetically by pdf file name, and ideally add new pages as needed. The last part is optional, as the ID document could already have the required number of pages, all using the same master page with the the picture frame already in place.
In my current project, the pdfs are all the same size as the ID document page size.
This would be along the lines of the scripts that place multipage pdfs, but for single page ones. I have tried first creating a multipage pdf by inserting a folder full of single page pdfs at the end of an initial pdf. Acrobat 8 pro does this very well indeed, but selects the pages from the source folder in random order. I need them in alphabetical order.
    Thanks for any insight,
    Al

For this project I could equally well use a script that would place or re link to a new pdf in a single page ID document, print device independent postscript with some sort of unique or sequential filename, and repeat the process for a whole folder of source pdf files. No new pages need to be added, and the new pdf could replace the prior one.
What I am after is a device independent ps file for these pdf files. The ones produced by batch processing from Acrobat 8 Pro do not offer enough control, as in that method I would need *only* the black separation.
    Thanks,
    Al
