Need to reduce overall width of SEM-BPS layout.

Hi,
I've a layout that gets wider and wider if user selected many vaules for the variable and I need to reduce the overall width of the layout.
In the layout,
characteristic COUNTRY defined in the lead columns.
characteriatic CALMONTH is defined in the data columns as dynamic.
layout contains keyfigures "Cost" and "REV".
So, in the layout builder definition
1st row in the data columns is with "Cost" in keyfigure column and variable VAR_MTH in CALMONTH column.
2nd row in the data columns is with "REV" in keyfigure column and variable VAR_MTH in CALMONTH column.
If variable VAR_MTH is selected with Jan 2004 - Mar 2004 for CALMONTH, layout is as follows.
COUNTRY || Jan2004 Cost || Feb2004 Cost || Mar 204 Cost || Jan2004 REV || Feb2004 REV || Mar 2004 REV ||
Here it is what am looking ..
insert a row on top of header row and put "Cost & REV" texts in the new row and the header row will contain only months as follows
========||==========COST============||=============REV===========||
COUNTRY || Jan2004 || Feb2004 || Mar 204 || Jan2004 || Feb2004 || Mar ||
in top row, 3 cells are merged and merged cells will have COST. right below these cells, months are displayed in the header row. Similarly for REV.
There is no problem if user always selects 3 month range.
But, in our case user has to have flexibility to select as many months as he want which makes it difficult.
I'm thinking of exploring macro options.
But, I appreciate if you can share your earlier experiences if any or any suggestions.

Hi Naveen,
SAP has 80 columns max for display on the screen.
if u want to accomadate more than six parameter the reduce the visible length.
example.
SELECTION-SCREEN : BEGIN OF LINE.
PARAMETERS : p_reg1 TYPE char20 VISIBLE LENGTH 12.
PARAMETERS : p_reg2 TYPE char20 VISIBLE LENGTH 12.
PARAMETERS : p_reg3 TYPE char20 VISIBLE LENGTH 12.
PARAMETERS : p_reg4 TYPE char20 VISIBLE LENGTH 12.
PARAMETERS : p_reg5 TYPE char20 VISIBLE LENGTH 12.
PARAMETERS : p_reg6 TYPE char20 VISIBLE LENGTH 12.
SELECTION-SCREEN :  END OF LINE.
also see to it that u dont cross the limit of 80 columns
while writting the comments
example
SELECTION-SCREEN : <b>COMMENT 4(10)</b> text-006,
                 : POSITION 35.
PARAMETERS       : p_sumrep RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1 .
SELECTION-SCREEN : <b>COMMENT 38(10</b>) text-048,

  • Refresh current SEM-BPS layout

    Hi,
I have a need to refresh the current SEM-BPS layout after executing a planning sequence.
    How do i do that?
    the problem is,
A planning sequence reposts current layout data & the data disappers from the layout but the document icons still appear in the layout. (these are just virtual icons meaning it doesn't let me to delete/edit the document. If i click on these icons, nothing happens but the icons just appears)
I switched the layout (another button in the folder) after executing this planning sequence & again came back to the 1st layout & the icons are gone.
So, I'm anticipating that refreshing the current layout should solve this problem.
    Appreciate any kind of help.

    Hi,
I guess the problem lies in the way the Excel macros transmit the data from the BPS sheet to your sheet. The best way to handle the problem is to insert a delete operation in you VBA coding before the new data is transferred to the second sheet. What I mean is in the macro SAPAfterDataPut you first delete all data in the second sheet (including the icons) and then transfer everything to the second sheet.
You cannot trigger a "restart" of the Excel layout via a planning function. If you are in a layout and trigger a planning function the system notices that the same layout should be shown and thus does not restart the Excel (for performance reasons). If you switch to another layout then the Excel application is stopped and a new Excel is started. There is no way to influence this behavior without doing a system modification.

    The termination type was: RABAX_STATE

  • How to Remove totals on few columns from SEM BPS layout

On SEM BPS layout it has 10 5 charatestics columns
    and 10 key figure columns.
out of these key figures I want see totals on some
coulmns and for few columns I do not want to see totals.
for wxample it does not make sense of seeing total under
    the salary incrase percentage coulmn.
Please suggest anyway we can remove total for some
    columns on the layout

Hey, thanks -- everything worked as you described. It never would have occurred to me that the "put back" button refers to the browser selection not the layout selection, for reasons I give below.
I think Aperture exhibits some conceptual confusion here. First of all, a "light table" is created by the New > Light Table command, and you add images to the newly created light table just as you would add them to an album. But those images don't go on the light table layout until you drag them from the browser to the layout table. The "put back" button and "remove from light table" contextual menu command both mean remove from the layout. The phrasing of the contextual menu command make it sounds as if it will remove the clicked image from the light table's collection of images, like removing an image from an album -- it would have made more sense to name this command "put back". Furthermore, the "put back" button is above the layout display, not above the browser, which to me implies that it applies to selections in the layout display. To select an image in the browser, and click "put back selected" seems backwards -- if you just selected the image in the browser, your attention is focused on the browser, not the layout; from the browser's point of view, the button should read "bring back" not "put back".
The documentation didn't really help when I was trying to figure this out. Sometimes the Aperture documentation refers to just a "light table", as on the overview on page 732. On pages 733 and 734, though, it refers to a "light table album". On page 735 of the Aperture manual there is a very brief explanation of how "to add images to the light table" and "to remove an image from the light table". Here, "light table" refers to the layout not the album. The explanation of the "Put Back Selected" button says to select an image then click the button, and the picture shown is of an image selected in the layout, not in the browser.

  • SEM BPS Layout Performance trace

    Hi guys,
our users are reporting following issues from Sales Planning Budget planning layout. User needs to restrict on a start page 1) Sales responsibility 2) Value Segment 3) Sales Employee 4) VAT code
They experience problems when selecting the variable values above, it can take many minutes before you can change the next variable value - sometimes it is not working at all. Sometimes, when users are able to choose all the values and press start planning function button - they don't get anything but blank layout.
So is there a way to trace somehow the performance of BPS planning layout and enhance it?
    Thanks in advance, appreciated!

Thanks for this, it was related to overall performance tuning etc.
We're currently running in BW 3.5 but in some time IP and BI7 should be alive - then there's a place from tuning.
Now I am still trying to find the bottle neck for the current issue so if someone has got information on solving this, cheers

  • VB Run time error '1004' in SEM BPS layout

    Hi,
When I run a layout and activate the standard SAP macro, a Visual basic error message " Run Time error '1004' " appears.
This error has been resolved after I made the following settings.
TOOLS --> MACRO --> SECURITY --> Trusted Publishers --> check flag "Trust Access to Visual Basic Project".
Does each user has to make this setting? Isn't there a setting for SAP macros to attach a trusted digital signature that automaticaly takes care of this error w/o having each user make this setting?
I heard, a setting has to be made in Trusted Publishers to accept "SAPAG".
But, I don't see this in Trsuted publishers list.
I don't see this error in Excel 97 but in Excel 2003. How do I know which versions of excel gives this error to educate our users about this error.
    Appreciate any help.

  • Planning Function : Amortization in SEM BPS

    Hi,
We have a need to implement Amortization function in SEM BPS. We are implementing SEM-BW 3.5 version. We need to set up schedules to track bond issues, principal and interest payments, etc in BPS. Data will be coming from Excel.
Can any one help me out by giving me a step by step procedure or guidance to implement this function in BPS...
    Thanks in advance...

In your exit function you have a parameter XTH_DATA. This parameter contains a hashed table. The structure of the table consists of S_CHAS that contains all characteristics and S_KYFS that contains all key figures. In a Multi area there is a field called AREA___ that you can check. The basic coding in your function module should therefore look like.
    DATA: l_s_data TYPE /1SEM/_YS_DATA<...>
    LOOP AT xth_data into l_s_data.
      IF l_s_data-s_chas-_area___ = 'CUBE1'.
        l_s_data-s_chas-_area___ = 'CUBE2'.
        insert l_s_data into xth_data.
        IF sy-subrc <> 0.
          MODIFY xth_data FROM l_s_data.
        ENDIF.
      ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
Note that this does not delete existing records. The type of the structure l_s_data depends on the client and name of the multi area.

  • CRM fields not populating in BPS layout for opportunity Planning 0crm_order

    Hello Support,
We are using SAP CRM 5.0 SP09 with BW 7.0 SP 09.
When creating an opportunity in CRM, the product data ( quantity ,
values) are not appearing in Planning tab( SEM-BPS Layout) .
Kindly let us know what needs to be done to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and regards,

In your CRM system, check your mapping from CRM to BW are correct.
You can do this in transaction SPRO. Menu path 'SAP Implementation Guide --> Integration with other mySAP components --> SEM --> Change mapping between CRM fields and InfoObjects'. Select planning application 'OPP' and click on 'Mapping table - system entries' on the left.
In here you should see the mapping from the InfoObject to the CRM field (eg. Infoobject 0CRM_EXPREV uses structure CRM_BW_OPPT_H and field name EXP_REVENUE).
In order for the value to be passed to planning you must tick the 'Empty' checkbox on.

    Adrian

  • Input Area in BPS Layout is too small

    Dear experts,
I'm really desperated due to BPS. We definded a BPS layout of type "Key Figs in Data columns" and like to add data via manual planning. The layout is displayed in Excel format.
When opening the layout only 20 lines in the layout are ready for input. When all 20 lines are used, we have to hit the "check" button, to insert new lines that are available for input. My problem is, that we run Excel macros to generate the data. The records are much more than 20. Only some of them are recognized as BPS data the rest is ignored and also not stored in the cube. Does anybody know where this limitation can be switched off or where the number of lines that are available for data entry can be increased.
I guess this is not a new problem for some of you.
    Any input highly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Bernd

The short answer is it will have significant negative performance impact.I would look at alternative solutions for the true business requirement. Please read the content in these links and let me know if your business requirement would still enforce you to do over 999 records manually at a time.
    Hope this helps.

  • Do we need be BW expert to get in to BI-BPS or SEM-BPS??

    Hi
I am an experienced FICO consultant and want to get in to BI-BPS(formerly SEM-BPS).
Do I need to have in depth BW knowledge for this or moderate knowledge of BW as a FICO consultant is sufficient?
Can please some one suggest me on this?
    regards

    Hi,
It is not BI-BPS , I think it is BI-IP (Integrated Planning).
You will need a good knowledge of BI to use it.  I would suggest, you read a bit about it and if you have a server handy with BI installed, start on it.  Then do a short course on BI Planning.
The FI-CO background will help you in visualising the use of BI-IP and the design of the application.  To actually model it, you will need to know the BI technical modeling.
    Cheers.

    Hello All,
BPS is currently very well documented on SAP's help website which is entirely free and does not require a login or anything of that kind. I highly recommend taking a look at this when you get an opportunity to do so.

  • Analysis Authorization with SEM-BPS

    Hi,
We have performed technical upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0. We want to migrate to BI 7.0 functionality phase wise.
We have SEM-BPS and now we want to migrate to Analysis Authorization of BI 7.0.
Once we have igrated to Analysis Authorization, will there be any impact on SEM-BPS? Can we still use SEM-BPS with New Analysis Authorizations? We do not want to move to BI-IP in near future?.
    Please advise.
    Best Regards,
    UR

    Dear UR,
Iu2019m going to try helping you,
In difference of reporting functionality, in planning, the data of an InfoCube is not just read; it is also changed or created.
There are two planning tools in BI: BW-BPS (Business Planning and Simulation), and BI Integrated Planning.
There are two main tcode: BPS0 and RSPLAN
There are three authorization objects to manage Integrated Planning:
    S_RS_PL_ADMIN - Planning Administrator
    S_RS_PL_PLANNER u2013 Planner
S_RS_PL_PLANMOD_D u2013 Planning Modeler (Development System)
The main object in the planning scenario is InfoCube real-time, where can available writing in small package that arrive in parallel. In some cases the security requirements for reporting and planning can be merging. In this case you need authorization object for checking planning, as authorization object above, and you need authorization object for using a query for planning requires as S_RS_COMP.
In addition to authorization for displaying data, the authorizations for changing data you need analysis authorization (the analysis authorization focus in the InfoProvider, no in Aggregation Level).
In your analysis authorization design for reporting stuff, you should use in 0TCAACTVT characteristic 03 value. In the planning stuff, you should use in 0TCAACTVT characteristic 03 and 02 values. As explain following:
Using the characteristics 0TCAACTVT (activity), you can restrict the authorization to different activities. Read (03) is set as the default activity; you must also assign the activity Change (02) for integrated planning.

  • BW SEM-BPS API functions from a Web Dynpro project in Netweaver

    Hi,
Rather than using the standard Web Interface Builder in BW SEM-BPS (3.1B), we have to use SAP Netweaver to create a Web Dynpro project which accesses all the API_SEMBPS functions, such as GETDATA, SETDATA, FUNCTION_EXECUTE etc. Has anyone done this before? If so, do you have any examples, hints?
    Regards,
    Linda Lee

    Hello Linda,
let me add some more remarks on this topic from the BW-BPS development perspective:
I completely agree with Marc's statement.
Thechnically it is possible to build a planning application UI on top of the BW-BPS API functions and we have some customers that are live with such a solution. However, I would recommend this only in 2 cases
    1. You need to create a tightly integrated application with BPS being only one part of several other components (including transactional UI, e.g. running against a CRM system).
    2. You prefer a UI technology that is not provided by SAP (e.g. Java Swing based).
In all other cases, I would say that one should stick to the Web Interface created with Web interface Builder, mainly for cost reasons. If this tool does not fulfill all your needs there are several possibilities to enhance and extend the generated web interfaces by custom specific coding (see also several How-To guides in this area; e.g. "How to integrate a BEx Web Template into a BPS Web interface").
Another possibility is to loosly couple several web UIs with the help of the portal.
To my knowledge, it is not true that BSP web technology will be obsolete shortly.
In general, I would always prefer a tool supported, model driven approach compared to a heavy custom coding. This is also in sync with SAPs general strategy to a more pattern based approach to create UIs.
