Need to reinstall Acrobat 8.0 that came pre-installed on my Vaio laptop

Hello,
I bought a Vaio laptop in 2008, with Windows Vista Business, and one of the reasons why I bought it was because it came with Acrobat (8.0) included. The only problem is that the computer didn't bring any cd's (Acrobat, Windows or Vaio software). The laptop is still working fine, but it's getting slower for some time and I want to reformat in order to start again from the beginning. Additionally I'm considering the possibility of upgrading to Windows 7, but if I reformat the computer I don't have the Acrobat 8.0 software needed to re-install. What do I need to do in order to access this software?
This is the information I have concerning my Acrobat software:
Adobe Acrobat Standard
Version 0.8.0
Sony Customer
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards. MCP

I would remove the key you posted, but don't have access. You may need to contact the VAIO folks to find where the software is found. On preinstalled systems, the software is often on the extra drive partition on the computer. In some cases (maybe most), there is a process for saving the install files to CD. They distribute this way to save money and eliminate the lost CD problem, but the customer has to create the software CD himself. Maybe the VAIO folks can help you on this.
You might try some of the cleaning tools and also check the msconfig (type in run) to see what is running in the background that can be turned off. One of the biggest time hogs on systems today is supposed to be protecting you -- it is your antivirus. Some of those programs running in the background spend so much time checking things that there is hardly anytime left to do things. I am not recommending to not have antivirus, but adjusting the settings or the check for updates may help. In such a case, reformatting the drive would not necessarily help that problem.
Also, if you are getting low on HD memory or are low on RAM, newer programs might run slower. The RAM issue is a big one in that Windows will move programs into virtual memory to allow them to run, but virtual memory is the HD and is slow! If you check your HD, you might find it time to buy a newer large drive (I have done that on laptops that I ran almost full). Checking out the free RAM may also suggest another upgrade there.

  • How do I re-install software that came pre-installed on my mac?

How do I re-install software that came pre-installed on my mac?
I bought my first mac in 2003, in 2004 I bought MS Office: Mac. In 2006 I got another mac, this one (I'm pretty sure but not 100% certain) came with MS Office pre-installed. I'm still using that computer I got in 2006 (writing this message on it right now) and have been having problems with Word and have had no luck with trying to fix it. I recently came across my original installation disk for the version of MS Office I got in 2004. So, when I became frustrated trying to fix Word I just grabbed this old installer and reinstalled office, assuming in that moment that it was the same version I had been using. I got it all installed and working and went to load up my most recent document that I've ben working on and it won't load because it's a docx file. I don't know where else I would have gotten a new version of word, I'm not one for unnecessary updates and updating a word processor is about as unnecessary as it gets. I MUST have had a newer version of word pre-installed on my computer, because any time I've ever tried to open word files from this computer on my older mac the files wouldn't work, so any time I need to do that I either make a PDF or email myself the text.
Anyway, I'm assuming that apple has all my registration info on file and can confirm that I bought the software, can they provide my an installer? My other concern is that this computer was a christmas gift and was purchased by my dad, though I don't know whose name is on any kind of registration that may exist. The problem here is that he died, so I'm concerned that apple won't support my product because the original "owner" is deceased, even though I don't think he ever so much as laid a finger on this computer or even looked at it more than twice after he gave it to me.
What is my best course of action here?

I would have to presume the 2006 Mac was used, and came with Office 2008 on it from the seller. Apple has never offered Office as a bundled purchase, and it is not pre-installed with any Mac.
Since you have the disk for Office 2004, the activation key should be on a sticker on the CD/DVD sleeve. As I recall, anyway. I no longer have my 2004 copy to check. If you have the key, it doesn't matter who it originally belonged to. You can still enter it and activate the software.
Once you have that installed, you can install the XML converter for Office 2004. That will allow you to open from all newer Windows and Mac versions of Office. The only things that won't necessarily convert are features that don't exist in Office 2004, and so can't be translated correctly, or at all.
Microsoft is saying Office 2016 for Mac and Windows should be available for the official release sometime either late summer, or early fall. So hold off purchasing a new version if you can. MS offers to reduced upgrade price for Office. You'd pay full price for Office 2011, and then again for Office 2016.
And just to note. Office 2008 and Office 2011 work fine in Snow Leopard.

  • Where can I obtain a product key for the Norton security sw that came pre-installed on my Thinkpad?

Hi, I purchased a 3-year Norton license that was pre-installed on my laptop.  I am now getting a pop-up window saying my Norton software has expired, and requiring I purchase new license.  How can I find the product key and enter it so that I no longer get this expired message?
    Thanks!

    Hello lda,
When did you purchase the 3 year subscription? From where did you purchase it? If you have activated & registered your Norton product, you can find the product key from the Norton Account:

  • Can I install Lion on my old laptop if it came pre-installed on my new laptop?

    Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a macbook pro which came pre-installed with Lion. I was informed that I could use the lion mac os x installer app, save it onto a USB, and install it on all other home macs. Since I have last year's white macbook (with snow leopard), I wanted to install lion on it as well before giving it as a gift to my sister. However, I can't seem to find the Lion OS X installer on my new macbook pro.
My question is, is it only possible to install lion on all other home computers if you had downloaded lion from the app store? Can I somehow make a copy of the lion os x which came pre-installed on my macbook pro and install it on my old white macbook without having to pay for it again?
    Thanks for all your help!

My question is, is it only possible to install lion on all other home computers if you had downloaded lion from the app store?
    That's correct.
Can I somehow make a copy of the lion os x which came pre-installed on my macbook pro and install it on my old white macbook without having to pay for it again?
No. That's both technically and legally impossible. The copy of Lion that came on your new Mac is licensed only for that machine. If you buy Lion as an upgrade, it's licensed for all Macs that you personally own.

  • Can I copy a DVD with software that came pre-installed?

    Lenovo 3000 J115/7387A11 Desktop.
My wife had a bunch of old movies recorded on a DVD. She would like to have an additional copy of the DVD and since my Lenovo has a DVD burner wants me to make a copy of the DVD.
Does anyone know if the software that came with the Lenovo can do this?
    Thanks for any help.

You shouldn't have any problems whatsoever copying the DVD. The supplied software can do this.

  • Need to reinstall Acrobat from CS6

We purchased CS6 back in December from a local retailer. Acrobat X Pro was a part of it. Our new iMac doesn't have an optical drive, so we had to download CS6 from Adobe and enter our product code, etc.
The other day, Acrobat started acting bizarrely (kept asking me to agree to the terms of use repeatedly), so I uninstalled it (not the whole CS6, just the Acrobat portion of it). Now I would like to install Acrobat again but I don't know how. Do I have to redownload the entire CS6? It takes all day long. Is there a way I can download only the Acrobat X Pro that came with CS6 and enter my serial number?

In order to install Acrobat X you need to launch Setup(.exe or .dmg) file for Adobe design Std/Premium and there you will get check box for acrobat x you just need to select the check box for acrobat x only that will install acrobat from you.
If you don't have a download for CS6 you can download it from Download CS6 products.

  • I have Acrobat Standard 9 that came with Premier Element

I have Acrobat Standard 9 that came with the Premier Elements and Photo Suite 9 when I purchased my machine and now when I open the program it says I don't access and that the license stopped working. Says to uninstall and reinstall the program.  Is there a license patch or link to update the license or does this mean I have to purchase a license to continue using?

You have posted in the correct place. (And everybody is confused about the new forum layout.)
If you have difficulties to run Acrobat and Adobe Reader on the same computer, uninstall Adobe Reader, then install it under Windows Virtual PC.

  • Do I need to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro ?

Instructions on my CS5 Design standard say i need to uninstall earlier versions of Acrobat 9 Pro.  I have Acrobat 9 Pro that I installed alongside CS3. Are the versions different or can i skip this step and use CS5 with my already installed version?

If you are at version 9.5.5 that was the end of the line for Acrobat 9.x.  You are correct that Acrobat 9 is no longer supported.  Adobe is only supporting Acrobat X and Acrobat XI at this time.
If you need to reinstall Acrobat 9 though you can still download the installer bits here:  Download Adobe CS5 Free Trials – All Direct Links without Akamai | ProDesignTools
Make sure to follow the directions carefully and sign into the Adobe Trials page first with your Adobe ID.

  • I need to reinstall acrobat 9

I need to reinstall acrobat 9 after having hard drive replaced. I have the serial number. How do I reinstall the software?

The same way you did it last time. If you failed to make a backup of the install file, you can get it at http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. This time, please back it up to a CD and/or a backup HD. Notice that older versions are no longer available. These downloads are only for Pro which was the trial version. If you need the Standard version you would have to check at ProDesign (Adobe Acrobat X (10) Pro, Reader, and Suite Direct Download Links | ProDesignTools). Other versions, like the upgrade, are not available as far as I know.

well PhillyPhan, I can't tell that you're better looking just by your iphoto icon, now can I? Although it is a lovely sunset you've got there.
Thanks for your response to my question, I see your point and will do that, however, I have another folder that was created before I had a Mac, which has all sorts of lovely titles and labels and some of those pictures I brought over to my ibook when I first started. So there are some duplicates in my iphoto library that I already have backed up in that other folder. I guess I shouldn't really obsess about those. I guess I am just nervous about deleting all my prior iphoto library, but I should have faith that it will all be there in my pictures library. Just trying to clean up the virtual mess.
I'll hold my breath and take the plunge.
    Thanks!
