- I realized maybe i wasnt detailed enough, When i turn it on i just get into the recovery disk, and i have held alt in but this is the only disk on it, so the only thing i can do i reinstall it.

Short answer: You do NOT have to reinstall all your apps and copy your files back.
Longer answer: Upgrading the OS does not touch any user files. Upgrading the OS should not interfere with any applications which are compatible with Mavericks. In my experience non-Apple apps are generally left unchanged by the upgrade. It is possible that some apps may need to be upgraded. One good resource for checking application compatibility is RoaringApps.
Finally, it is always wise to backup everything, just in case.

No. But if you happen to have any old PPC-only applications they will need to be upgraded because they will not work in Mavericks. You should also upgrade your other software to current versions if you have not already done so.

You will at least need to apply the update. I believe that can be done before upgrading to Mavericks. If you have trouble, then as Tony T1 says, uninstall fully then reinstall, but I have had no issues o any of my Macs. Update applied to all.

Trying to reinstall OS X Mavericks on my reset MacBook but it says "An error occurred"

Hi. So I have recently attempted to reset my MacBook Air 11 inch but when I get to reinstall OS X Mavericks it says "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again." Ive tried many times after but it will not work and I have no idea what to do. I just need a simple way to fix this. If anybody could help that would be amazing because I cannot find a way to fix this.

1. If possible, set the system clock as instructed here. If you can only start up in Recovery mode, see below.
Select Get Help Online. Safari will launch. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your bookmarks, but you won't need them. Load this web page.

Directory corruption in a MacOS journaled volume is always the result of a drive malfunction. It's not caused by power failures, system crashes, or anything else. Stolen laptop...got new one and need to reinstall Photoshop CS3 on my new one. Adobe "customer service" is not helpful. I have the original $1,500 software, but when I try to install it. Resore From Time Machine Backup after Reinstall OS X (Maverick)

I have a MacBook pro mid 2010, after reinstalled OS X(maverick) from command + R (disk utility), I try to Restore from TIme Machine Backup, and then after 2 hours, the computer turn off and now I try to turning it on, but only last 5 seconds on and then turn off by it self.
Then I try to Reintall OS X(Maverick) again, and it work fine, I can turn the mac on, navigate to all windows, use the internet, I can turn it off and then turn it on, not problem. Then I need to restore from time machine again so I can get all my data from my last backup. I turned off the mac, then turn it on hold command+R then go to Disk utility Restore From TIme Machine Backup, wait for 2 hours, and again the computer turn off. I try to turn it on but only last 5 second on and then turn it off by it self.
I need help please.

Do you know which OS version it had originally and which version was on it before the seller wiped it?
That's important because, unless he did the right thing, his Apple ID and password may still be associated with it. You can easily fix that by booting into Internet Recovery (hold down Command + Option + R keys), choose to erase the drive using Disk Utility, and then reinstall the OS. That should resinstall the original OS version (if Lion or later) and then you can upgrade using your own Apple ID.
I'd recommend doing it that way to avoid any possible problems since we don't know what the seller did or didn't do.

About reinstalling OS X Mavericks?

I recently deleted a crucial system file for console.
I am now looking to reinstall OS X Mavericks.
I have a question about this first before I do it though if I reinstall the OS on the same hard drive that the MacBookPro boots from will I lose any files at all?
I have heard from a lot of different sites that I won't but I want to be 100% sure since I can't afford to lose any files since I use the computer for college?

If everything during the upgrade works correctly, your data should be safe.
Having said that do I trust my data to everything working correctly, never.
In fact I backup everything at least twice.
My thinking is that it is always better to have a backup and not needed it then to need a backup and not have it.

Adobe Bridge is not fuctiong correctly, I need to reinstall CS2

I have Adobe CS2, I recently took a ton of pictures in Large and Raw with my Canon Camera. When I upladed then to my computer and wanted to work on the .RAW images my Bridge will not allow me to adjust the .RAW images. I am assuming I need to reinstall my CS2. No, do not uninstall/reinstall. What you need to do is reset preferences. Hold down the Crtl key and start Bridge. You will get a reset window, choose all 3 options. That should get you back to normal.

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

As my question states I need to reinstall my computer (laptop) and I'm not quite sure on how to deal with Premiere pro and After effects.
I am thinking that I need to do some sort of backup and save my projects and footage on a sepparate drive.
If I reinstall my computer, install my creative suit production premium, and move back all of my projects and footage, won't I have to re-link every single clip?
I am currently workning on several different projects and having to re-link everything is something I don't even want to think about, that would take me days if not weeks.
Another option on my mind would be to use Creative cloud. I do have the free version but I have never used it even once before and I'm not quite sure what the purpose of the cloud is and if this is a way to use it.
I have no idea how to go about this computer reinstalation without either loosing tons of work or having to re-link every single clip used.
I am videoediting only as a hobby so I have no experience working with other people and sharing projects or the like, wich is my understanding of what the cloud is for.
Any and all help would be grealty appreciated, I know this is probably really easy but ever since i got my Suit I haven't reinstalled, upgraded och changed my computer so I am just clueless as to how to go about this.
I have Creative suit production premium, I also have the free Creative cloud.
It is only Premiere pro and After effects that I am using and am worried about.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)

In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Disabled":

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Do I REALLY need to reinstall Lion because my iPhone stopped being recognized by Image Capture, Aperture and iPhoto but still shows up in iTunes?
I was on the phone with Apple Support with 5 different Advisors for more than 3 hrs today and we were not able to resolve the problem (yet). Although the problem is frustrating, it's always kind of a pleasure chatting with the Advisors. (I said kinda)
Approx 2 weeks ago, iPhoto, Aperture and Image Capture all stopped recognizing my iPhone. Oddly, iTunes has no problem recognizing the iPhone. Here are just a few of the things we tried but didn't get the apps to see the iPhone again:
- Removed and deleted all photos on camera roll using a windows machine
- Removed all other photos synced between my iMac and iPhone
- Made sure an image existed on the camera roll
- Recorded some video on iPhone and then tried to get iMovie to recognize device
- Restored (gulp) the device followed by a restore from back-up
- Restored again (double gulp) but this time to factory settings and kept the device as a "new iPhone"
- Logged on as different users
and on and on.
Also, after noting that my machine refused to send a systems report to my Sr Advisor (Jimmy) at Apple, he suggests we re-install Lion (ack). But when we went to access the Recovery Partition we realized it wasn't there.

So now I wait for Lion to arrive on one of those nifty Apple thumb drives for me to try re-installing ;-(

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
