Need to reinstall Windows 7

I need to reinstall Windows 7 on Satellite C655. The laptop came with 5 discs, 3 of which I don't know what are for.There are three named Toshiba 1, Toshiba 2, Toshiba 3. Then another named Windows Recovery + (then weirdscribbling) Environment, and the other Toshiba apps and drivers. Is the Windows 7 on one of these?  or do I have tobuy that with my own money?

I don't need to do a complete factory reset, just need to reinstall Windows.
Can't be done.
If you have the proper Windows installation DVD, then it's sometimes possible to repair Windows.

if he/she has valid warranty, ask lenovo to change the hdd for free. they'll also install operation system, too.
even if you have recovery disks, the hard disk has the same volume size to use recovery disks via one key recover.

  • Need to reinstall windows 8.1, need my product key

I need to reinstall Windows 8.1
I don't have my purchase confirmation emal anymore, i tried to redownload windows 8 or 8.1 to create a bootable Flash Drive to install from, but my current product key didn't let me!
So i figured that i need the Windows 8 product key from which i upgraded to 8.1 and got a new key, to redownload Windows 8 and then upgrade to Windows 8.1!
The problem is i have no clue of where to find my genuine Windows 8 key that I have purchased and downloaded from the web..

    Please see:
    Downloads, product keys, and subscription
    Carey Frisch
That is the problem, i do not have anything there but red text saying "You haven‘t purchased any downloads yet."
Yet, i can find and see my purchase of Windows 8 with my Bank in the transaction section.
I have even requested a physical CD/DVD which i have gotten, a blue paper flip-case with 32bit in on side and a 64bit in the other.
What am i to do now ???

  • Need help reinstalling Windows 7 home premium on HP G62-435DX

My internal hard disk crashed and I followed advice from this forum to use Ubuntu (using live disc from CD ROM drive) to recover data and save to external hard drive. Next, I replaced the internal hard drive with a 500GB internal hard drive. I figured out how to partition the new internal hard drive and get Ubuntu to acknowledge it.
Now, I'm trying to figure out how to reinstall my Windows 7 Home Premium operating system so I can try to get back to normal. However, I cannot figure out how to download Windows 7 to my hard drive using my product key that came with my machine when I bought it. All the download options appear to require you to buy/request Windows 7 recovery discs to run and install on the machine (since I didn't create these prior to my hard disk failing).
Is this really the only way I can use my product key to reinstall Windows 7 to my machine? Also, I cannot figure out how to download the OS from Windows 7 ISO downloads (via Digital River) to my internal hard drive - seems I can only do this by downloading and burning to CDs (which I don't believe I have the right kind - but obviously am happy to buy if it's the best/fastest option). It seems I have very limited options since I had to remove my internal hard drive, which then eliminated Windows 7 from my machine.
Based on these details - I ultimately want to determine the fastest, most efficient way to get Windows 7 OS back on my machine. I'd prefer to download it, but am hamstrung by having to run Ubuntu from a Live CD. Thanks for your help!

Here are the specs for your HP G62-435DX Notebook Computer. Here is the HP Software and Driver Downloads page if you wish to order the HP Recovery Discs and have them mailed to you. If you wish to download Windows 7 and use the Windows product key on the bottom of your computer, please see How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc for instructions on downloading, creating the installation media (DVD or USB), and installing Windows. You will need a funtional computer with DVD burning software capable of burning the ISO to disc.

  • U410 recovery partition reformatted, need help reinstalling Windows 8

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo U410 with a 32GB SSD and a 750GB HDD that are treated as one drive. The previous owner reformatted the entire drive, which erased the recovery partition. Thus, I can'tmake a recovery disc or USB stick (the recovery partition would have to be intact for that to work anyway) and can't reinstall Windows 8.
Can anyone confirm that the recovery media I'd order from Lenovo support would be able to reinstall Windows 8? I'm afraid that they would send me a disc that needs the recovery partition to work.
    Thank you.

I did, they didn't know if it would work.

  • Flex 2 15 - Need to reinstall Windows 8.1

Hi! I'm new here so be patients please!
I have recently bought a Lenovo Flex 2-15 and it came with pre-installed Windows 8.1. My supplier was Newegg.com.
Everything was great and beautiful, except I wasn't able to close the optical drive door. After a few more tries and tries, it, finely, closed. Now it's working just fine every time I use it, exactly as intended.
For a few day ago, I experienced some bad activity due to installing a plug-in which suppose to help me watch some online TV stations. It seems I got a virus or a maleware. Even with my updated antivirus, the system runs pretty "cloggy" and browsers (no matter which of the: IE11, Chrome, Firefox, Safary - all being up to date) are displaying a lot of ads, most of  them are covering the page but you cannot see them. When ready to click on a link or just click on a free area with no link, they start to open in separate pages and make your work worst.
OK! This is not something too new or strange to me. But I really want to reinstall the OS and have it like it was in the beginning.
It is about a pre-installed version of Windows 8.1
I would go for Windows 8 as well, as I can update it to the v8.1 later and for free. All I need to know is:
HOW CAN I REINSTALL IT since I got no copy of OS when received the laptop?! No ISO image, no rescue DVD, no nothing or anything. Is there any process steps I have to follow?
Please, I need your help. Post here ONLY if you really know how to do it and did it before. Thank you so much in advance.
P.S.: 1. Don't try to advise me using the OneTouch Recovery Option or any kind or utility like this, since my computer is INFECTED with something.
P.S.: 2. I have already been uninstalling all browsers and clean the remaining files from Registry and after that to reinstall them back. Got the same situation with unwanted and hidden ads.

  • Need to reinstall Windows 7 on H320 series PC!

I have a series H320 PC currently running with Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) and which seems to have a corrupt or missing file (CBS Manifest) needed to install Windows Updates.  There are currently three updates that I have which, so far, have defied all attempts that I have made to install them.  The Windows error message that I receive is 80070490 and I have tried everything listed with that error message except to re-install  Windows 7.  I do have a set of four recovery discs from Lenovo for the H320; however, starting with disc #1, I am told that the only thing to do is to completely reformat my system.  This I do not want to do unless absolutely necessary.  Disc #2 named "Operating System Recovery Disc" is shown as being Windows 7 Home Premium ; however, trying to reinstall from that disc without beginning with disc #1 does not seem to work for me.  I might add, by the way, that I did NOT receive  any instructions as regards to various options in using the four Recovery Discs that I have and if there is a way to use one or all of them WITHOUT REFORMATING, I would appreciate further usable instructions.  Thank you for any and all hopeful responses to my dilema.

    Hi elbojon,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.  I am sorry to see you are having difficulties with your system as of this time.
I am not sure what steps you have tried out but you may want to try these steps out.
You may want to try out running the System update Readiness Tool.  Steps are outlined on the link provided. However, if this does not work then a reinstallation of the operating system may be needed.
The set of four recovery discs that you have are used to reinstall the system back to factory settings.  For the steps regarding using the Recovery CD you just simply have to boot the system up using the first disc and then agree that you will be restoring system back to factory settings then it will prompt you to insert the next discs then follow the prompts till the installation is finished.  These set of 4 recovery discs however does not provide you with any option to repair your windows installation.
If the System Update Readiness tool does not resolve the problem, the next best option would be to back up your files and reinstall the operating system via the One Key Recovery.  One Key Recovery can be accessed by hitting F2 after powering the system up from shutdown.  This option allows you to return the system to factory settings however this means data loss.
Hope the readiness tool helps resolve your issue.

  • Need to reinstall windows but don't have any CD - Satellite Pro L20

Hi, I wanted to reinstall Windows XP home onto my Satellite Pro L20, but don't have any of the software my laptop came with (read lost the disks). I have a valid XP home key (as its stuck on the bottom of my laptop) but no disc so I tired using a copy of a Windows XP home cd, which didn't work, but did let me get as far as formatting the hard drive.
So right now I'm using Ubuntu, but want to reinstall Windows. Have valid product key but no software to reinstall.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Christopher

    Are you kidding now?
Do you understand English or what?
I will try to be clear enough and constructive too in hope you will understand your situation.
    Some facts for you:
    - Recovery image *CANNOT* be downloaded
    - Following link http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com >Support & Downloads you can find all drivers, tools and utilities for your notebook model
    So back to your situation:
For clean OS installation you have *_two_* options only:
    - if possible order new copy by Toshiba authorized service provider in your country *do you have more questions about that?*
    - you can install operating system using Microsoft installations CD *if you don't have it, it is your problem*
Can you please tell me if all this is clear now?
If you have more questions please ask.

  • Corrupted Windows 7 install on W520 need to reinstall Windows?

Somehow I have corrupted my Windows 7 installation on my W520.
I receive this error message from Windows when I try to open standard links with Windows Explorer:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Lenovo Support says I have to reinstall Windows 7 from the recovery disks.  (My backup is also corrupted.)  I do not want to completely reinstall Windows if I don't absolutely have to  (Nobody would.).  Fred Langa has a column that says you can do an "upgrade" reinstall to the same version you already have and it will fix a corrupted Window.  However, as I don't have a complete copy of Windows I don't know whether I can do that with my Lenovo Windows serial  number? I have downloaded a couple of Windows 7 install discs from Digital River and neither of them seemed to work.  (I am running Windows 7 x64 Professional.)  I have tried a bunch of file association changes by merging new associations with the Registry, but this has not solved my problem.  Windows basically works, and all of my programs work, so I am really hoping for a solution.  I can use Power Desk to navigate Windows instead of Windows Explorer but it won't open the desktop shorcuts like Control Panel, Documents, Picture, etc.
    Any ideas?  Thank you!

Sorry to be slow in responding, I had a 400-mile drive between receiving your e-mail and time to respons.  <ouch>
I have been to Digital River, but I found *two* versions of Windows Professional X64.  I also found two different numbered ISOs which claimed to be the same version.  (I actually first learned about them in a different forum in Lenovo.)  I tried to do a Repair from them and neither worked.  They might work for an upgrade install, with my Lenovo serial number, but they do not work with a Repair.  (I did have a Repair disc that I had made myself, and it did *not* solve my problem.)
Do you happen to know the exact ISO number of a version that will work.  They are 3GB per download, so they take a few minutes at home.  Here I am on a satellite connection so I couldn't download them at all.
Thank you very much and you have always been extremely helpful.  BTW, are you at all optimistic that I won't have to reinstall Windows.  I am pretty fatalistic myself at this point.  I have worked on the problem for more than 10 hours.
