Need to reload PSE 7.0

I decided to move Elements 7 to an external hard drive to free up space on my computer, but it wouldn't function from the external. I tried copying it back to the computer, but it wouldn't function there, either. I've had it for a while, and since everything worked fine, I didn't keep the box (with the serial number on it!) so I can't reinstall that way. I do still have the disk, just no SN.
Is there a way to reinstall on the original computer? Boy, I hope so, as this was a pricey program - and I really liked it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I tried reinstalling Leopard -- the computer originally came with Leopard -- but the computer screen goes grey and a message comes up saying I need to restart. He wants to give this computer to me since it's useless to him. What do I do to get a system on it again?

You will need to reformat the hard drive to go back to Snow Leopard or Leopard.
Does he have a Snow Leopard Disk? He should, as there is no way to go from Leopard to Mountain Lion without it. If you can find the Snow Leopard Disk, I'd at least start with that.
You will need to use Disk Utility in the installer to format the hard drive and get rid of the recovery partition.
Boot from the installer disk by holding down the C key on restart. When it boots, Open Disk Utility (Utilities menu, at least in Snow Leopard).
Select the Hard drive and then click the Partition tab.
Select 1 Partition from the partition menu.
Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format.
Name the drive (Macintosh HD is the standard).
Click Apply to partition the drive.
When it is done, quit Disk Utility and install the OS.

I need to reload system software on G5 tower but DVD drive is dead ...

My G5 tower won't boot. It hangs up just as the blue progress bar reaches all the way to the right. I'm sure I need to reload the system software, but the DVD drive is also on the fritz and I can't use it. I put an old G4 TiBook into target disc mode, hooked it up to the G5, held the option key down at startup and I was able to get the G5 to boot – so I'm sure the hard drive is not dead.
Any suggestions? How can I use an apple system DVD disc and reload the software? Is there another way? I looked at some old G4s I have lying around, thinking I would pull a drive out of there and use it, but it just looked too hard to do. Is there a way to use Carbon Copy Cloner? I have free firewire drive space. Can I just copy the system file from the G4 TiBook onto the G5?
Sorry, I can't tell you the OS, I think it's 10.4.?, but I forget!

reboot the G5 from the Ti target disk, slip the DVD in when you hit the desktop, tell it to reboot from the DVD - open the install OS X icon from the disc, enter pw & click restart.
another thing you might try is imaging the dvd to a firewire drive or partition on the Ti book... backup the tibook first if you resort to that.

...you may also have to reset activation count by calling support, if such a warning comes up. Otherwise a simple reinstall will/ should do.

I'm not sure if this would solve your problem, but if it doesn't cause a problem to leave the existing names in place, you could just build a new alias table. By assinging new aliases, you would not have to reload all your data.Regards,

We would love to help. What part are you having trouble with? For starters, please make sure that you're logged in as an administrator, and temporarily disable any antivirus software. If you don't have the Acrobat installer, you can download Acrobat from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

when installing an upgrade, if the previous version is not installed, you will be prompted for the previous versions serial number (as well as the upgrade's serial number).

When you say the remote is not working, does the light on AppleTV flicker when you use the remote but nothing happens?
If so hold Menu and left arrow/rewind keys TOGETHER for over 6 seconds and see if you get an unlinked chain appearing on screen- if you do it may now work.

I am doing this as tech support for a customer with a M/Board crash.
They kept absolutely nothing.
I found that I could use their e-mail address to retrieve their details & then once I was logged in as them, I was able to download their software again.
This time I have it saved in a place that will be backed up.
