Need to replace my iPhone -- but laptop was stolen. Please help!

So it's been a rough few weeks. About two weeks ago, the Macbook I was syncing my iPhone 3GS with was stolen while I was out of town. I made the mistake of not backing up my data, and I lost everything... documents, music, movies, etc.
Though I lost a lot of it, I realized that a good amount of music, movies, and TV shows are still on my iPhone 3GS.
Fast forward to this past Monday, my iPhone 3GS craps out on me. It turns on, but won't accept any input commands from the screen, buttons, silence switch, etc. Not only that, but the sleep/wake button got jammed.
Now I know its likely that Apple would replace my iPhone, but that would lead to losing all that media I have on the device! My entire music library, which I've spent years building, remains only on my iPhone. I have about 30 GB taken up on my 3GS.
*Do Genius Bar folk have the capability to transfer media off an iPhone onto a computer of another phone?*
*If not, should I look into third party software?*
I'd appreciate any and all help on resolving this problem... big thanks.

Only if the phone is working. But if it were then you could do it also. If you connect the phone to a computer does it show up in iTunes? If it does you can try "Transfer Purchases" on the iTunes File Menu.

Again, Only if the phone is working. There are third party apps that can retrieve SOME of the content of the phone.

I think you are out of luck by now. No backup of your computer, and when you lost the computer you didn't bother to save what was on the phone, which would have been possible as long as the phone was working.

Need to replace pdf file on existing website. Please help!
Our intern left this summer and we're clueless about Dreamweaver. We have a Spry Menu with a link to a pdf file of our employment application. Our application has been revised, and we need to replace it on the website.
From what we have gathered, Spry Menu Widget is no longer available to download and we are unable to change the link to a new file via the widget because intern took his laptop with the widget installed.
So to make do, I have downloaded the files from the website to my Local folder, deleted the old employment application pdf file and have replaced it with the new application with the exact same file name as the old one.
My question is.... If I highlight the new application in our local folder and click upload, should this make the link in the menu bar go to the new application?
Thanks for you help in advance!Ok, sure. So we needed to replace a pdf file that was linked from our spry menu bar. We didn't have the widget and didn't think we could download it, so we went to the folder on the bottom right hand side of the screen and opened the remote folder. We then highlighted all of those files except for the / file at the very top. We then clicked the down arrow to copy those files into our local folder. Once they were downloaded, we went into the local folder and found the file we needed to switch out. We then deleted that file, named our new file the exact same file name, and clicked and dragged it from our computer onto the same folder that contained the file we deleted. We then highlighted that file, right clicked and chose "PUT", as Jon had instructed us to do above. It uploaded the file. When it was finished, we checked our website and got an error because the pages wouldn't load. However, a few minutes later we tried again and everything worked perfectly. The new pdf file had replaced the old one and still linked properly from the menu bar.

ITunes says I need to update my ipod but it is updated please help
Ok when i plug in my iPod a popup says some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the ipod because your ipod software is too old. Go to summery tab in iPod preferences and click update to get the latest ipod software. But i do have the latest software and on itunes where it says update it is grayed out so what do i do please help me thanks, Hayley
hmmmm. while the ipod is plugged in, in itunes go "help > check for updates". after it says you're up to date with your itunes, do you get another message asking you to update your firmware?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Backing up does not transfer your photos to your computer, if you don't want to enable photo stream, you will need to transfer your photos when your device is connected to your computer using iTunes. -
My laptop was stolen and I need to be able to connect my iPhone4 to the new laptop and transfer content (photos, mp3's, apps etc.) to the new laptop. I'm afraid to try a sync in case it deletes all the content off the iPhone. Any suggestions?
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

I hope someone can help me. I know this question has been asked in various formats but I can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for, so please forgive me if this type of question is asked again.
My laptop was stolen a few months ago and I have finally been able to replace it. The common issue of course is that I can only sync it to one iTunes library at a time, which was on my laptop that some thief is currently enjoying the use of.
I don't have a lot of money so all of my backups were on the stolen laptop as I don't have an external hard drive. I understand you can authorize iTunes or the iPhone to go on upto 5 computers at a time?
As soon as I plugged in my phone (on the new laptop) I created a backup of everything on there using iTunes. I guess my question is, if I plug in my iphone and ask it to restore from back up, will it wipe the phone and replace it with the first back up on the new laptop or will it still delete everything altogether as the original content is not on the new laptop?
As much as it would be a pain, the music content is the least of my concern. It's more a case of making sure I keep my contacts, photos and purchases from the app store. I have read somewhere that you can transfer your purchases but I'm not sure how to do this.
I really hope someone can help and apologies for the repeat topic!

My laptop was stolen. How do I sync my old iphone to a new computer without losing my purchases (music & apps)?
One of the reasons to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data that is kept separate from your laptop - not carried in the same case, etc.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iDevice, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If you are in the US, you can do this now as well.

Early this morning, a friend of mine called me to tell me her laptop was stolen. She asked me to help her track it using iCloud find my mac. The theives also stole her wallet and other things from her car so this isn't something that was just misplaced and an innocent person came across it. My question is, now that I know where it is (within a couple hundred feet vicinity) what is the best approach I can use to get this back for my friend? She's got years of family pictures and does not have the laptop backed up so this is very important to her. Any ideas?

CalebWell, I did contact the police with all this information. They actually went to one of the houses with me (the one on the corner) and it was an old man who was very polite who lived at home alone and didn't seem like the type. Instead of knocking on the other doors with me, the police said, "Your locating program is probably just wrong and it's not here." he wouldn't knock on any other doors so I plan on going tomorrow morning and knocking but the chances of anyone confessing are slim so I don't know what approach to go at with them. I don't know why find my mac doesn't let you leave a message like find my iPhone because I would leave a message saying "this mac has been misplaced. If you return it, the owner will reward you with $500 without pressing charges or asking how you came across the laptop. Please call -------, but, no. All I can do is knock. lol

hi have just purchased iphone 4s . my itunes on my mac is currently 10.4 . 10.5 is needed for the new iphone but when i download it and click on install the itunes about still says 10.4 . have tried to update through itunes but it says there is no software available for me . please help . mr frustrated
If your computer is running an OS X prior to Snow Leopard 10.6,
the answer (if it is an Intel-based Mac; not old PowerPC model)
would be to buy the retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD from Apple
for about $20, and install it. Then update that to 10.6.8 by using
the installed Snow Leopard online to get Combo Update v1.1 for
Snow Leopard 10.6.8. After that is installed & updated, run the
system's Software Update again, to see what else is available to
that system.
Later systems can then be looked into at Mac App Store, once
the computer is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
And if your computer is a Power PC (G4/G5, etc) and has no
Core2Duo kind of CPU -- See "About this Mac" in apple menu
to disclose the general info about your Mac. Also you can see
even more by clicking on "More Info" when looking in there...
If it isn't an Intel-based Mac, it can't run a system past 10.5.8.

You need to restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. Open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer, hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Click Restore button of iTunes.

I had an iphone 4s and it worked nice with facetime and imessage using my phone number but it was stolen on December so I buy a new iphone 4s using the same cellphone number but now imessage and facetime does not work with my number, it only works with my apple ID.
