Need to replace the graphics card. help.

I had bought my mac pro in 2005 and my graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 2600) seem to be underperforming lately.
I play latest computer games and was wondering what would be a good replacement?
thanks.

1GB GDDR5 RAM
PCI Express 2.0 x16
I am not sure if my Mac pro has these.

  • Do I need to replace video graphic card or power supply unit on hp compaq presario sr2180nx

    hello all
i saw a similar post over 4 years ago, however it doesn't address my issue.
my pc started stalling when i attempt to turn it on.  It wouldn't come on. Then after several tries every now and then it would come on. I was told through searching that it could be the video graphic card or the power supply. Therefore once i had the computer back on.  I never shut it off. However, i could reboot and it would come on.
Now it won't come on again. So i don't know what to replace. The video graphic card or the power supply.  If it is the graphic card, do i replace the one previously installed or add a new one. And if adding a new one, what is recommended to be compatible with my 300 watt supply unit? I'm lost as what route to take and how.Below are the details of my unit.
HP/Compaq Presario SR2180NX desktop PC with a P5LP-LE motherboard with an Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 950.
*Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.
Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards
    300 watt supply.
thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Is there an add-in video card in the slot? If so, remove it and try to turn on. If the problem is the video card it will turn on. If not it is the power supply.

  • Can I replace the graphics card on Tecra M2?

I have a Tecra M2 and the screen shows verticle lines across the entire screen. These lines also show up when plugged up to a regular screen.
I checked the device manager and it says the nvidia card "cannot start." Troubleshoot had me uninstall and reinstall, no luck.
Next option is to unplug and then plug back in, but is this possible? If it is separate I'd rather just replace the card. Thanks for any help.

According to your error description it sounds really like a GPU (graphic processing unit) malfunction.
Unfortunately, this is a serious fault and without a hardware replacement you will be not able to solve this problem :(
This is a worth case because you cannot replace only the graphic card. You have to replace the whole motherboard because the GPU is soldered on the board and cannot be removed easily.
There is nothing to do buddy.
Seems you have to contact a technician for assistance.
    Good luck

  • Need to upgrade my graphics card- help!

I have a mid 2009 macbook pro 17 in. with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB graphics card.  I am getting an error message when I use photoshop that says my graphics card is not compatible for some graphics.  I assume I can upgrade, but I don't know where to start.  Please help.

The graphics card can not be upgraded in a macbook pro. the GPU is soldered to the logic board and is not an upgradeable part of your system.

  • Need to replace my graphic card

Hello. My current graphic card is ati radeon x800 xt mac edition - for some reason the fan stopped working so I need to replace it.
My job place offers an ATI 40% discount so I'd like to stay with ATI. Only thing is they do not offer this exact card any longer. Are there any other cards that would be supported with this version of PPC?
Radeon® X1650 Pro 512MB AGP says it only supports xp
    Radeon® X1900 G5 Mac® Edition RoHS 256MB PCI Express® this I know isn't supported since my G5 doesn't have PCI-Express...
I never bought a graphic card before - so I'm super concerned about compatibility issues.
Do you know of any current ATI graphic cards that are supported with this G5?
    Power Mac G5 (PowerMac7,2)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2CPU 2GHZ 1GB RAM

There are four ATI cards that work in the AGP G5. In order of speed:
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Power Mac G5 Edition (one ADC, one single-link DVI)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC & Mac Edition (one single-link, one dual-link, DVI)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition (one ADC, one single-link DVI)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition (one ADC, one dual-link DVI)
They are all listed in the Mac section of ATI's web-site as current cards
    <http://ati.amd.com/products/mac.html>
They used to be listed in the store section, too, but since AMD bought ATI, they only list one Mac card there, and it is not AGP.
    Most are available at OWC

  • [Please answer] Is it possible to replace the graphics card in a laptop?

    http://forum.fdzone.org/j.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FHP-Pavilion-G70-250US-17-0-Inch-Laptop...
    this is my laptop....
    Please help ;-(

This article is doing a huge disservice because it does not say that 99% of laptops cannot be upgraded. The one in the video is upgradeable theoretically because it has a slot on the motherboard called an mxm slot where there is a separate video card. However, even in mxm laptops there is a huge problem upgrading because there is no ready market for the cards and mxm is not really a universal standard like pci, where devices are universally swappable. When you do find an mxm card it is silly expensive like $400-500. The mxm card from a Dell may not work in an HP and vide versa. Your laptop cannot be upgraded. Period, end of story. Fuggedaboudit.

  • Qosmio X305 will only boot in safe mode or when the graphics card disabled

    Hi All
I am having a very concerning issue with my laptop (Toshiba Qosmio X305). It will only boot in safe mode or if I disable the graphics card.
Awhile back I upgraded the drivers for the nVidia 9800M GTX from the nVidia website, it worked fine for awhile, but then it started crashing randomly by giving me a full screen of random color then switching off. I fixed this by rolling back to the previous version of the drivers (the drivers that came with the laptop software).
After that it working perfectly for months but yesterday my machine started crashing and I could not get it to boot correctly.
I have completely deleted (not just a quick format) both the hard drives that came internally in the laptop and I have installed a clean version (the out of the box option) of the x64 Vista that came with the laptop from the recovery disks I created. After I did the install, it boots fine as only the standard VGA device is used, as soon as I installed the driver off the drivers and applications disk it would not boot correctly:
Just after the status bar comes up and it is about to show the windows logo, just before login, I get a black screen. I can hear that it is booting fine and I can even log in to windows and by memory make things run, but I can't see anything. I then got the latest drivers, again from the nVidia website and they are not helping at all.
My system is as follows (nothing has been added, its is just how I got it):
    Vista Ultimate x64
    4.00 GB RAM
    Intel Core 2 Quad
Like I said previously it is a clean install of the operating system, I have not added any programs, except for installing and then updating the display drivers.
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi buddy,
It seems that this is a typical example, that only pretested display drivers from Toshiba should be used. Why?
The nVidia drivers are not pretested and they dont have an overheat protection. So for me it sounds like that the nVidia driver has destroyed your graphic card. That means no driver will help you and reinstallation of the whole system too.
I think the only option is replacing the graphic card. Therefore you should contact an authorized service provider in your country. Here you can search:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com
Explain the whole story and then you will see, what the technicians say. If your notebook is under warranty, hopefully this will be covered too. Normally other display drivers you have to install on your own risk
    Good luck! :)

    HI,

  • Questions about changing the graphic card

Greetings I need to change the graphic card that came with my computer Pavilion 500-308nrit's GeForce GTX 745 4Gb with GeForce GTX 960now i have couble questions the graghic card that i'm going to buy has a bigger cooling system so is't going to fit inside the case?the GTX 960 require a minimum power supply with 400W so is't gonna be a problem if i changed the power supply?. and is there is a specific power supply that will work better with my PC? and thank you

Hi, The specifications for 500-308nr indicate an external 180 watt power supply supply. Is that true?  If the specifications are correct then you will not be able to install an internal power supply.

  • Need to Upgrade my Graphics Card - Please Help

    Hello
Just recently purchased a HP and everything is great EXCEPT the Graphics Card cannot handle games like Battlefield 4.
Not sure what my options are. Can anyone please advise?
My computer is HP Pavilion, System Model 500-214
    Windows 8.1
Graphics Card currently is AMD Radeon HD 8570D
    Resolution 1680 x 1050 (60hz)
    It's a 1  terabite
Not sure what else you would need to know.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
You will need a graphics card in the range of this NVIDIA GTX 660.  Additionally you need to replace the 300 watt power supply with a 500+ watt power supply such as this Corsair CX600 which is on sale for $45 after rebate.

  • Do I need to tell Lightroom to use the Graphics Card in my new laptop?

    HI!
I have a new laptop and have successfully transferred my pics, catalogue and LR settings across.
It has better specs than my last one, including a decent (I think!) dedicated graphics card.  I have always had integrated graphics before so am not sure how this works.  Do I need to tell applications, such as Lightroom, to use the graphics card, or will this be automatically be done by the software/operating system?  If I do need to do anything, is this in each software (like Lightroom), the computer settings, or in some third party control software?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for that.  That seems a shame, although hopefully the increased CPU will help it run more smoothly anyway.
Do you know off hand whether I would need to do anything for other programs with regards to the graphics card or is everything automated?
    thanks again

  • Please could someone confirm the Graphics card needed to support a Eizo ColorEdge CG275W monitor, resolution 2560x1440

Hello, community, Please could someone confirm the Graphics card needed to support a Eizo ColorEdge CG275W monitor, resolution 2560x1440. I currently have a Mac Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT VRAM (Total):          256 MB, which I'm guessing by it's age will not handle the new monitor. Any advice greatly appreciated.
