Need to restore a session without having to restore the profile folder in explorer
So, honestly I found this is the only way to register, which I think is stupid, but I'm absolutely infuriated right now because I had 360+ tabs open all in groups and stuff, and I opened some site, it threw a pop-up full screen up in my face, even though I have ad-blocker with popup addon, and when I tried to close the stupid pop-up, it instead closed the window containing all my tabs, then proceeded to try & close the ad & shut down firefox, thus saving that as my session. I am beside myself. I know that I can easily get back my session, but only from the last restore point on my system. Is there ANY other way I can do this? If I use this method, I will not only have lost a TON of hours worth of open tabs & work, but I'll lose a bunch of important information. I think the oldest restore point is from last night & I did a LOT of stuff in between then & now. Anyways, I mostly wanted to register to let another user know about this method at least, because he wasn't helped at ALL during his ask for support on the issue. He was told there was simply nothing he could do. That's not true. If you go into your appdata folder & restore the mozilla folders in both local & roaming (not sure which one it is, I do both to be safe) to the last point it has that you're sure will contain your tabs/profile data & voila. It's worked for me before. However, this time I really need a better method, and it's not displaying any windows to restore except the god damn pop-up that just destroyed my day. I truly wish the people who invented pop-up ads would die in a fire.
You can possibly use this to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.

Hi all....I have spent weeks tidying up my music collection. I moved it all to Itunes media folder. Since I don't like how Itunes manages this folder I manually organised it myself so that albums where together etc. I am wondering if there is a fool proof way to move my media folder to an external hard drive without letting itunes manage and consolidate files as this will reverse all the work I did in organising. Then it has files itunes preferences, itunes libary extras, itunes libarry genius, itunes libraary, itunes music library......Is there stuff in there that doesnt need to be there as some are repeated in itunes media folder which contains....automatically add to itunes, books, downloads, home videos, mobile applications, music, podcasts, tones, voice memos and itunes preferences. Any thoughts on deleting some folders??? Thankyou so much for your time on this

It's sort of like a "catch 22"; it seems like my iPod won't restore because the software update won't install, but the software update won't install because my iPod won't restore.

So I tried to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1, like iTunes told me to do, and it froze part way through the installation for a couple of hours. I tried to "reset" the iPhone by pressing both the home and power buttons simultaneously, but now iTunes tells me my iPhone is in recovery mode. From my limited knowledge, it seems I need to restore my iPhone, but I don't want to lose anything, like my SMS history.
Is there a way to get out of recovery mode without having to restore?

Unfortunately, the above post is simply wrong! A system cannot destroy information in a blink of an eye. If it were that easy, the forensic teams across the world would have a hard time. A criminal could simply force a phone into recovery to remove all the data. Please!
I managed not only to take the phone out of recovery mode but also, salvaged all the data held on it.
To be fair, I am a little annoyed at Apple for not offering a salvage option on the device for such a situation. And it may be that they will not like me sharing this information, in which case I believe this view to be morally wrong because photos are so important. We all make mistakes, in terms of forgetting to backup from time to time.
What I used was the Redsn0w software, running as an administrator in XP compatibility mode. In the ‘Extras’ section it as a Recovery Fix option. It simply runs some software that takes the device out of recovery mode. I had to run it twice for some reason but the second time (out of desperation) worked a treat. The phone is now exactly as it was before it went into recovery mode. More to the point, it allowed me to backup all the photos and videos that I had failed to do before hand. And let’s face it, photos and videos are usually the most valuable stuff we keep on our phones.
I hope this help anyone in the same situation. I really hope someone from apple reads it and is able to convince the bosses that a recovery option is very important. And to take note that YES it is possible to recover data on a phone stuck in recovery mode. And more than likely it would be easier for apple, compared to other non-apple professionals.

No.
A restore might not even fix it; a fair amount of the time, when the Wi-Fi is grayed out it is a hardware issue. -
How to sync music from Itunes to iPad without having to restore or erase iPad's content

Now I am trying to sync music from itunes onto my iPad, however when I plug it into my itunes, it comes up with a message saying 'Welcome to the new iPad' and says to set my iPad up already as a new iPad. And when I go to file and click devices, it disables me to open it, so therefore I cannot sync nor backup the iPad. Also there is no backup for this iPad already as it is a fairly new iPad, but already has so much content. Is there any other way to transfer the music from my itunes library to my iPad without having to restore it or even erase the iPad?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-FiI open up iTunes on my PC and then plug in my iPad. It then displays under devices on the left-hand side in iTunes. I then click on my iPad listed under devices. I have the option of clicking the sync button in the lower right hand side of the screen. Once I click sync, then the iPad will visually indicate that it is syncing. When it is finished syncing, the text message will be gone on your iPad and you can then use it. The items should be stored in iPod app on the iPad.

If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:

You can't. The ONLY solution is to restore the device. If there were an easy way around the passcode lock, it wouldn't serve much purpose, would it?

Ok this is bizzare!
Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :( -
I need to install printer driver without having connection to printer
I have developed a Filemaker Pro database that is hosted over the internet. One of the users has a HP 6700 printer that is not printing envelpes properly. I would like to install the HP driver on my computer so I can test the Print Setup dialog box in Filemaker using that driver. I downloaded the driver from HP but I cannot install it without having a connection the printer. Is there a way to do this?

Looking to choose an app for viewing word documents, but need to be able to view a complete page per screen (preferably full screen) without having to 'nudge' the screen 'up' to view the bottom of the page.
Will Pages do the job?Not exactly.
You will find yourself nudging the page up or down a bit. Earlier versions of iOS Pages allowed "full page view" but that really wasn't full page either. You can squeeze the view to fit, but as soon as you release it, the document springs back to normal size - it is only about a line off from what you are looking for.
An alternative would be to view a Pages Document as a PDF and view the PDF in an app such as GoodReader - there you can see both the top and bottom edges of each page. There are many other PDF viewers available in the App Store.

how can i remove pictures from my droid turbo without having to use the touch screen on the phone at all? my screen is cracked and i am waiting on a replacement phone. as far as i can tell in order to access the phone storage through my computer, i have to use the touchscreen to enable it so that the computer will see it as a camera. I can't do that as the top half of the touschscreen is unresponsive. any suggestions? teaches me to use the backup services offered in the future, but i still need a short term solution for this time.
I'm sorry to hear your screen is cracked spence425. I know its difficult to use the phone while its damaged. I'm happy you are receiving a replacement device. Have you saved any of your pictures and other data to the cloud? Here is a link about the cloud http://vz.to/1mF0GIx . Unfortunately, you will be unable to remove any data from the phone if the screen is unresponsive but if you are looking to transfer data to your new phone, it would have needed to be saved via the cloud first. I cannot sign into icloud on my phone because the Apple ID is an email account that has been deactivated and deleted. How can I change my Apple ID without having to change the primary email address to this non-existent account? If I did so, I wouldn't be able to access the account to receive the verification email. Please help!
To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You should not need to verify the old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I have never had a passcode to lock my iPad. Now that I have updated it with IOS7 it is asking for one and is locked. How do I unlock this without having to reset the whole thing through iTunes????
Unfortunately, if the iPad is insisting that you use a passcode, there is no way around it other than to restore the device using iTunes on a computer, or by erasing it in iCloud.com via Find My iPhone.
You could try resetting the iPad and cross your fingers and hope this is just a blip on the radar....hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
