Need to Restore from a Share Burn Created DVD

I need to restore an iPhoto library.
I created a backup by selecting "photos" under "library" in the left hand margin (I was not sure if I should have selected "events"). I did not highlight any individual photos. I then selected burn from the share menu.
Did this feature copy all my edits, events, etc...? Did it make an exact copy of my library?
Would I be able to restore my library from this DVD with all original edits, events, etc...? Would my original library be fully restored?
If yes, could I restore my library by copying the library folder from the DVD and replacing the one in the pictures folder?

Insert the DVD in your Mac and it will show up in the iPhoto Window under Devices.
Working in the iPhoto Window: Drag them Albums/Events or photos from the DVD to the Library to restore.
Regards

  • I need to restore from last backup because my iPhone is having issues. I'd like to keep certain pictures and videos from my iPhone app: Video Safe. If I do restore from last backup, will the pics that I put on the app after my last backup still be on it?

My iPhone keeps switching between turning wheel and iPhone logo so I need to restore from last backup. I just really want to keep certain videos and pictures from the Video Safe app which were added to it after the last backup.

Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • Need to restore from and older backup because I lost all my contacts when I upgraded my phone

my backup that was created is saying it needs a password and I didn't give it one. Which password is it requesting? Also the second question is how do I restore from a old back up, I am needing to get my contacts back.

If the backup is asking for a password you may have turned on backup file encryption. If this is the case, and you don't remember the encryption password you could be out of luck.

  • Need Urgent help please? I need to restore from a previous iphone backup.

Oops, I admit it - I messed up but need help please?? I received a replacement iphone today. My broken iphone OS and my itunes had the latest software updates and I did a full backup before going to the store to get the rerplacement. However, when I got home with the replacement iphone and plugged it in, it asked if I wanted to update the OS on it. I made the mistake of saying yes. It then made a backup of the empty factory settings from the new replacement and restored from that rahter than the backup I made before going to the store. Yes I know I should have said no and just did the restore which would have resotred my previous backup that I made before going to the store. Then after everything would be allright I could have told it to update the OS.
You can slap my in the face or I will do it myslef for making such a stupid mistake. All ready did the "I should have had a V" thing to my forehead.
After seeing the restore was fromthe factory settings rather than my earlier good backup, I went into my documents and drilled down to the mobile sync backup and saw that one of the three folders (with giberish as a title) has a lot of information with the date and time I did the backup before going to the store.
Could I possibly delete the later (factory setting backup) folder and then do a restore to get my good backup onto the iphone? I didn't do that yet in fear that it might mess something else up on the iphone and I wanted to check with you experts here first for guidance and assistance, PLEASE?
I'll be anxiously awaiting any help you can give!
    Thank you!!

It took me a long time to get back to the dissucison group because I tried both of your suggestions which therfore had to do about 4 restores. They take quite a while (about 50 minutes each actually). Your help got me half way there and is very apprecaited! I did manage (with your excellent help) to get most of my backup put onto the replaced iphone. the photos, music, and videos didn't get put over. I think I can move those back over by making sure they are selected in the seperate tabbed screens for the iphone. However, I can't get to those screens because every time I connect the iphone now, it brings up the "set up your phone screen". The one with the "an iphone has been previously synced with this compter" setup as new phone or restore from ....
Well I did the resotre from 3 times and that page still comes up when I plug in the iphone. Yes, I did close itunes, reboot the PC, and powered off the iphone and then brouhgt it back up before connecting (all several times), but itunes still takes me to the same "setup iphone screen".
Can you help me to get it to the standard iphone screen and there I will make sure the selected items are checked and do a sync.
Please know I do appreicate your kind assistance so far and hope someone can get me the rest of the way!
The "Backup" do not store your Applications, Music, Video's. It saves your settings, your application preferences, etc.

  • New hard drive and need to restore from time capsule

I replaced my hard drive with a new 1TB drive. Now I need to retore everything from my Apple time capsule. I'm having some trouble doing so. I first booted up with the new drive and selected restore from back up under disk utility and everything seemed to be going fine until I had to restart the computer when it was finished. When I did, I got the "panic" error and the computer wouldn't boot up in any mode (ie safe mode). I then started holding C button to start with the operating disk in and at set it up that way. My back up stuff is on there somewhere because 150GB is being used but my computer looks like it just came out tf the box. I also did a upgrade to Lion last year, How do I get that back?
    Thanks for any help

  • Locked iTunes won't unlock~ and I need to restore from Time Machine

I have somehow lost all my iTunes. When I go to play something - I get the grey exclamation mark comes up.
In trying to restore from Timw Machine, I find my iTunes is now unlocked. I have gone through the process of unlocking every file I can find and changing all the permissions to read and write. However it is still locked.
Can ypu help me with two things
    a) how to unlock iTunes using a defferent technique to that which I have tried.
    b) tell me EXACTLY (step by step - because I am a mac newbie!) how I restore from my Time machine preferably. I do have my full collection (about 15 000 pieces) on my ipod if I need that - but I am terrified of loosing everything.
    Thanks a ton

OK, I think I found it for you. Navigate to the Itunes Library.itl file I referred to in my last post. Highlight the file and then type Command I and uncheck the box like mine is set in:

  • Just had to replace iPad so I need to restore from other backup. iTunes has sync error that others say require uninstall and reinstall. "iTunes was unable to load prover data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later." If I uninstall, will I lose

Just had to replace iPad and itunes has following error. "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Servies. Reconnect or try again later." I read that others suggest uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. If I do this, will I lose my old iPad's backup that I need to restore to this new one?

I've resolved the issue with iTunes constantly not responding. It's a bit embarrassing. I had a DVD in the drive that was corrupt, and once I was able to remove it - BAM - iTunes ran perfectly.
I'm still getting the Sync Services message, and my backups are still not showing in iTunes.
    Getting there.... I hope!

  • Restore needed. Restore from iTunes!

All the sudden my phone is telling me a need to restore via iTunes and will not make calls. I restored it once and 20 minutes later it's saying I need a restore again! Why is this happening.

Probably because there is something corrupt in your backup. Restore again, as a New phone. If it still tells you to restore you have a hardware problem.

  • How to Make a Still from Video and Burning a DVD

    Hello All,
I am using FCP HD and I would like to know how do you make a still photo from video footage?
Also I have to burn an editing project to dvd. I don't know how to use studio pro, but the person said that it needs to be a ntsc full resolution version. I am not sure what that means.
The project is about 10 minutes long and this person had me using the H.264. I have been playing around and I think I not doing something write because when I send the project to compressor it tells me that I have like 200+ hours befoe it outputs.
Could someone give me some simple instructions using the H.264 on how to do a good large size (over 320x240) QT movie to dvd?
    THANKS...

To export a still park the playhead on the image you want, mark IN OUT, go to FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME CONVERSION. Click on QUICKTIME MOVIE and In the dropdown choose STILL IMAGE.
You will have to De-Interlace it in Photoshop after you export.
    As for making the DVD:
    Shane's Stock Answer #3:
To export your DV project so there is no loss in quality, simply go to the File Menu and select EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE. Not Quicktime Conversion, fot this will compress the footage. Make sure the settings match your timeline settings, make it self contained and you are set.
Import this into iDVD or DVDSP and burn your DVD. Don't go the h.264 route.

  • Need help restoring from a SilverKeeper .sparseimage file

Before upgrading a MacBook from Leopard to Snow Leopard I used SilverKeeper to backup the hard drive, sending the data to a .sparseimage file. I'm now trying to restore - or expand/extract - the .sparseimage file to an external hard drive so I can move my documents and files to the freshly-installed OS. I've tried creating a Restore Set in SilverKeeper, setting the Destination as the .sparseimage backup file and the Source as the external hard drive mount, but this operation just results in a copy of the .sparseimage file being created in a new folder on the external drive; the files saved in the original backup are not extracted to the external drive. I'm trying this process because even though mounting the .sparseimage backup in OSX will allow me to browse the file system, the files in the user folder are not visible (and they're not just hidden). And this despite the fact that the original backup operation completed successfully and created a sparseimage file of 122GB - the same size as the used space on the original drive. Any help getting the files back out of this .sparseimage file would be tremendous. Thanks!

Thanks for the thoughts, Kappy. I have contacted LaCie as well; just waiting to hear back. <fingers crossed> Since it doesn't directly bring LaCie any revenue, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask around here as well since I got it from Apple: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/silverkeeper.html
For some reason when you do a restore set with SilverKeeper the destination has to be the location of your (previous) backup, and the source has to be the location you want to send the restore to. Believe me, it doesn't make much sense to me either; I guess the idea is that you're sending a previous backup back to the source.
As I mentioned, I can mount the image and browse it in Finder, but I can't access the files I need. I did get an 'alias not found' message (or something like that) at one point but am not seeing that at the moment. As far as I know the file is not encrypted; at least I haven't been prompted for a key/password.
I didn't have access to a big enough spare drive at the time I was making this backup and so had to resort to creating an image file that I could send to a network share. I probably will pass on SilverKeeper in the future, but it seemed like a good bet at the time...
