Need to restore my iPhone and worried about songs that I downloaded via network and not the computer
I haven't been able to sync my phone since the last software update in December. It perpetually says that I don't have enough space on my phone even though I have 10gb of free space. My last resort is to do a restore but I have made some iTunes purchases over my network and not through my computer that have not been synced do to this problem and the restore process has alerted me that if I continue that I'll have to re-purchase them. Is this true? Or will I be able to re-download them from the iTunes store after the restore process. I've had to do that with other songs that have mysteriously disappeared but I don't want to proceed until I'm sure I can.
TY in advance
Disable automatic syncing by opening iTunes, then going to Preferences>Devices and checking "Prevent from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer your purchased music to iTunes. Confirm that your purchased music is now in your iTunes library. If so, restore your phone.
Also, if you purchased them with the Apple ID you have set in Settings>iTunes & App Stores, and if the songs are still in the iTunes store, in many countries you will be able to redownload them for free.

i have two kinds of songs. one kind is buying from itune store, and the other kind is burning from CD. i got a new 5s, but it only shows the songs that i buy in itune but not the one that from the cds
Are the ones from the CD's on iTunes? You may just have to sync them over to the phone.

Can I redownload purchases that my iTunes Store thinks have already been downloaded to my computer?
Hi Phippsy01,
If you need to redownload your previous purchases from the iTunes Store, you may find the following article helpful:

Hi, I recently received an email which I believed to be from my bank but it turns out it was from someone trying to hack my bank account. I accessed the email on my phone and I wanted to know if I need to restore my iphone back to default settings? I am a bit worried about losing everything on my phone if I do this but at the same time I don't want them to get any other information. Any ideas?
Did you log in with your bank account via the link included with this email?
If not, you have nothing to worry about.
Accessing or viewing the email alone can't provide your bank account info or the log in for your bank account. -

I need to restore my iphone but itunes can't connect to it because of my password which I can't input becasue it has no service and needs to be restored. what can I do to restore it? Is there a way to input the password?
You will need to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode to be able to restore it in iTunes.
To put your iPod/iPhone into recovery mode:
1. Make sure the iPod/iPhone is connected to a computer with iTunes installed on it.
2. Hold down the sleep/wake button(top button) and the home button at the same time until the iPod/iPhone screen goes black then shows the apple logo( usually 10-15 seconds).
3. Once the apple logo appears on the screen, let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding the home button.
4. The ipod/iphone screen should show an itunes logo and usb cable if you were successful. A dialog box will appear in iTunes that states an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode has been detected if you are successful.
5. Click ok, then click the Restore button
After that you should be up and running in no time!
I hope that this is helpful. -
I forgot my passcode. and i need to restore my iphone 4 in order to reset the passcode. But I haven't backed up to icloud recently and REALLY cant lose my 1000 photos, contacts, ect. How to i backup before having to reset every thing?
You can't. If there was a way to get into the phone and backup data without a passcode, what would be the purpose of the passcode?
Either think harder, or prepare to lose all your data. -
I need to restore my iPhone. Once in iTunes, I get an error message asking me to use my passowrd to unlock phone. The problem is that I can't get to the password lock screen. All I can get is the iTunes screen or the emergency call only screen.
yes did you buy it of somebody or a well known company such as apple or carphone warehouse?
and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it
no worries -
I have to restore my iphone 4s becasue it is saying "disabled connect to itunes" and it's never been synced with itunes. However the sleep/wake button is broken on the phone is there still away to restore without using it?
You can try, but the problem with that is you need battery power in order to restore. Once your phone has enough power to restore, it will still show the same message. To get the phone into either recovery mode or DFU mode requires the ability to first turn the phone off. But, you've got nothing to lose, so you might as well give it a shot.

You rely on it but not enough to create and maintian a backup?
Have you set up iCloud? Set it up and then you can restore the iPhone and reload with iCloud.
-> http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
This will backup your iPhone as well as allow you to maintain contacts and calendar items (and others) in the cloud without a computer.
You can access then via a computer (www.icloud.com) and/or have them sync to a computer also.. -

I need help restoring my iphone 4
Why don't you contact Apple and find out? Certainly if you can find your way around the internet to have been able to find this forum, you can certainly find the number for AppleCare.

I need to restore my iPhone 5 but an update I already have appears.
I need to restore my iPhone 5 but when I click on restore, an update to iOS 6.1.4 appears and my phone is already at the latest iOS update. I have limited internet usage and trying to update to an update I already have installed will make me go over my usage as the update is almost 1000mb.
Go to a friend's house and use their wifi, which will not
be charged to your wireless usage. Or a coffee shop. Or
someplace else with publicly available wifi. -
I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
