Need to restore - will I lose rented movies?
I am having trouble syncing my Apple TV after updating to 2.0. I want to try a restore and upgrade again to see if that will fix it. However, I have a movie that I rented that is waiting to be watched. If I restore it, will I lose the movie? Or will it automatically download it again?
Any content which is on the Apple TV will be erased, and the rented movie will not automatically be downloaded again.

I was in the middle of the latest update and my iPhone now says it needs to restored will I be able to back it up first. I have photos on it I can NOT lose
It should have backed up automatically at the start of the update process. And you should be saving photos from your phone to your computer regularly, just like you would with any digital camera. If you were not doing this you MAY lose the photos, but if your backup at the start of the update was successful you will not. Just DO NOT sync after the update, until you have restore the backup and verified that it is OK.
What error message did you get during the update? Before you restore do the following:
Reboot your computer
Connect to a USB port on the computer directly, not a hub
disable your antivirus and firewall
Launch iTunes
Finally, connect the phone and restore. -

Apple TV will not play rented movies. Says it is being played on another device, which it is not. Downloaded movie via iTunes on my iMac.
I've tried restoring the TV, updating my iTunes - nothing is working. It is definitely not playing on my computer.Sign in to your iTunes account settings on the computer (click on the AppleID top right if you're actually signed in).
In your purchase list find the purchase and use the 'Report a problem' link to tell the store.
Assume you've not moved the rental to another device where it resides but is not being played. -
Will i lose my movies if i reset apple tv
will i lose my movies if i reset apple tv
No. All of the content viewed on your Apple TV is sourced from iTunes Home Sharing and/or from iCloud. When you reset your Apple TV, you'll need to input your Apple ID again--then you will be able to find movies purchased through iTunes or through Home Sharing.

I have disabled my ipod since I forgot may password; if restored will I lose my videos and media? How can I enable my ipod without losing some of my pictures and videos etc?
You have to place the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore via iTunes. This will erase the iPod. You can restoire from backup to get back to when the backup was made.

If not successful, try DFU mode.

Do you need wi-fi to watch a rented movie?
I was wondering if you can watch a Rented movie ( off of the itunes store ) without wi-fi
or if you can ONLY watch a (rented) movie WITH wi-fiYes, but you will need to download while you still have access to a network.

I do backup with iCloud. I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever. Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
I would like to do a system restore on my MacBook Pro but I do not want to lose Photoshop Elements, etc. Can I put them on my external hard drive? Also, will they be deleted from the computer or no?
Always make a backup of your content before reinstalling the operating system so reduce the chance of losing content.
If you do a simple reinstall of Mac OS X, and do not do a clean or erase install, you should not lose content. All you do is reinstall the operating system itself. But, again, make a backup as a protection. -
If I do a restore, will I lose updated OS?
Hello. I'm looking to sell my macbook to help get a macbook pro. I'm going to do a restore before selling it. When I do restore, does that mean I'm going to go back to the original OS?
Depends if you are restoring from the original set up disks. If that is the case then yes it will go back to the original set up. I think there is an option to restore to the current configuration without using the disks though.
