Need to retrieve disk space on E drive.

Does anyone know of any directories that we can clean up within:
usr\sap\trans.
Within the "log" folder, there are files going back to 2002.
Also in "Data", files going back to 02, is it possible to move any of these to another location.
thank you in advance.
Marie

Hi Marie,
I will recommend not to clean up files manually, because you then could create inconsistency in your transports and there history.
I would recommend to use "TP" to do this.
Checkout the "TP CHECK ALL pf=<path & name of transport profile>" and the "TP CLEAROLD ALL pf=<path & name of transport profile>".
The first command will check all transports there co-files, data-files and so on if they are still used somewhere, generating a log.
The second command will use this log and delete files that are not used anymore taking into account a lifetime how old they are before deleting....
You should be able to find documentation on this in the online doku of the system or at help.sap.com...
Regards
Rolf

G'day.  I am using iMovie 11 and need to clear disk space.  How can I do that using an external drive, leaving me the option to go back and make changes or access old events or projects from that external drive?

The slightly bigger question is whether you want to move all movie content to the external drive (essentially meaning that drive will always need to be attached when you're working with your videos), or whether you just want to archive older videos off to the external drive.
If you want to move all videos, then just move the 'Movies' folder in your home directory to the external drive, then create an alias of the external 'Movies' back in to your home directory. Now the 'Movies' icon in your home directory will point to the external drive and everything will just work (as long as the external drive is attached when you launch iMovie)
If you want to archive older movies then each Movie should have its own subdirectory within your Movies folder. These can easily be moved off to the external drive, and moved back should you ever need to work on those movies again.

  • Query to find out the free disk space on C: drive

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to create a query in  Queries section under Monitoring, To find out the free disk space of C: drive.
Am using the below query, but it shows lot many fields, I need only Machine names of the collection and their
Free Disk Space on C: drive
    select * from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK on SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.DeviceID = "C:" and SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.FreeSpace > 1024
    Please assist

The SELECT part of the query will govern what fields you are shown, so perhaps try:
    Select SMS_R_System.ResourceID, SMS_R_System.NETBIOSname, SMS_G_System_Logical_Disk.FreeSpace
    from SMS_R_System
    inner join SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK on SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId
    where SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.DeviceID = "C:" and SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.FreeSpace > 1024
    I hope that helps,

  • I keep getting a (false) notification from HP Support Assistant: low disk space on C drive?

Hi, this morning upon starting up my computer the magnifying glass was hovering over the HP Support Assistant icon and usually that means it is checking for updates etc... but I noticed it turned into a yellow exclamation mark so I clicked on it and opened up HP Support Assistant. The exclamation mark was now in the "updates and tune-ups" and said there were "recommended messages available." Upon clicking this the exclamation is now on the HP messages tab and upon clicking that I am taken to a notification that says: "Low Disk Space on Primary Drive C:" So I click on it to find out more information and it says that I am running out of free disk space on my C drive and that I need to perform a disk cleanup etc...
I went to My Computer to see just how in jeopardy I was in of running out of space on my C drive. To my amazement it stated that I still had 1.27 TB of 1.35 TB available and have only used 6% of my space...
I tried emptying my recycle bin, clearing my cache, doing an actual disk cleanup, and restarting to no avail, the magnifying glass comes back after restart and the notification returns telling me that I am low on disk space in the C drive...
I have come to the conclusion that this must be a false notification but I have no idea how to get rid of it...it isn't a huge issue as it doesn't impair my usage on the computer, however, it is kind of annoying to keep seeing this notification...
Is there any way to get rid of this notification?

Tried installing Illustrator CC but ran out of disk space on primary drive... how can I install on secondary drive?

Run_Esperanza how much space do you still have available on your primary drive?  It is possible to customize the installation destination within the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  You can find more details at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
Please be aware that you will need disk space on the primary drive to installed shared components plus contain the temporary files for installation.

  • I need more hard disk space on my macbook pro

I need more hard disk space on my macbook pro

Since you have 160 GB listed as backups let's assume these are Time Machine snapshots.  Time Machine will use up to 80% of the disk space for local snapshots.  This is not an issue.  As you fill your disk it willl remove snapshots to maintain at least 20% free.  If you wish to free this space simply plug in a Time Machine backup disk and run a backup.
You might also notice that the Storage display in About This Mac will show the backup space as used while a Get Info on the sytem drive will show that space free.  So at this point, if it is Time Machine snapshots that are taking the space, you should see 160 GB more free space from the Get Info query compared to the Storage display.
Summary: If this space is Time Machine snapshots then don't worry about it.  It will take care of itself.
I do not recommend leaving Time Machine in the off state.  It is a valuable backup tool that can save your bacon when you accidentally delete or modify a file or if your system crashes.  The snapshots are backups at recent times that you can go back to should you delete or currupt a file, even if you do not have a Time Machine disk plugged in.

    iTunes prefs - Advanced.
Set the *iTunes media folder location* to the external drive.
Make sure *Keep iTunes media folder organized* and *Copy files to iTunes media folder ...* are both checked.
Then go to iTunes menu File > Library > Organize library - Consolidate.
This will copy everything in iTunes to the new location.
After it is complete, quit iTunes then delete \Music\iTunes\iTunes media\ folder.

  • HT201612 clearing disk space in mac drive in windows partition

I am using MacBook Air and having both the operating system installed (Windows and linux).
My windows partition "BOOTCAMP" is having 79 GB (30 GB is still free) and Macintosh HD is of 32 GB (only 19.6 MB is free).
I am not able to login to Linux operating system because of low disk space.
I am able to login to Windows OS. I want to clear some dispace in Macintosh HD.
I would request for some help in this regard.

It is not clear how many operating systems you have, two or three. If you have a Bootcamp partition for Windows you can not have three partitions because Bootcamp won't work with more than two partitions. If you want to remove the Bootcamp partition to free up hard drive space you must use Bootcamp Assistant to remove the Bootcamp partition and return your hard drive to a single OSx partition.
So try to better explain what you have and what you want to do.

  • Low Disk space in both drives

All of sudden My Crive is showing Low disk space. Can any one help me int his issue.
And also in my E drive this is not even a  single file  But it is showing  7 GB less . What will be the problem.
    Please help me ...
    Sudheer

I'm running XP. Won't do Vista. No new fatware if I can help it. I just inherited a broken machine and gonna' put Linux on it.
    FYI,
The  Prefetch directory was a new one to me just recently. Selecting all and deleting was a definite improvement. ALSO, empty the trash. All those deleted files are still on the hard drive unless they are deleted.
Defrag is your best friend. Under accessories and system tools is this handy utlitity. I defrag once a month and just makes things run better. If you're into it, set the Virtual memory on your hard drive. Virtual memory is what Windows uses instead of hardware memory. It used to be called the swap file. I always had it set manually but then I let Windows decide how to manage this memory and it didn't work. I very soon ran out of memory. STUPID me. So I set the virtual memory to minimum 1024 and maximum 1024. It's fixed and my T23 is running really smooth.
And if you are running into these kind of issues but know you have hard drive space left, do all of the above. You and your machine will be very pleased.

  • Low Disk space in C drive

    Hi All,
My MII server showing  "Low Disk Space" error for every 10 to 15 days once. I think the log files been generated more.
My "C" drive has about 99.9GB space.
Let me know how to avoid it?

I would first look at which files are being generated that take up the space before changing any settings.  However, there are a number of log files which can be generated automatically and which can grow rather large.  Please identify the version and build of your MII (and NW if applicable) system.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Don't understand why I keep running out of disk space on hard drive.

I keep getting warnings about using up the hard disk space, and I can't understand why.
I have a small number of documents, no fancy applications, and about 2 gb of photos and 2 gb of iTunes music. I used to have many more photos, and more documents, and used to have easily 2-3 gb spare on the 55gb hard drive.
I have emptied the trash on every account, and have deleted just about every email.
Each new day that I logon, the available disk space dwindles back down to mere kb.
It's like something is squeezing out my available memory.
Any suggestions, please? Does this sound viral??
    Thank you.

    Hi Robert,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
You should start with some system maintenance: Mac OS X 10.3/10.4: System maintenance. Temporary or Cache files can get corrupted and then grow until they fill the disk. In case you use Toast check if the temp file was deleted after you burnt.
Back in the days of Panther there was also a common problem with the drivers of a game-controller. Sorry, can't remember the name but if you installed a game controller recently you should update it's driver.

  • Why does Tiger need so much disk space free?

Is this a drawback to a Unix based OS? I know there are a number of bells and whistles to OSX.
But it just seemed odd that with the old Mac OS I could go very low on disk space (yet have plenty of RAM free) and the mac would still boot up, and store files fine. I would not experiene slowdowns, nor other issues.
My Performa 6360 had a 6GB hard drive and it ran OS 9.1. There were times when free disk space would go below a gig. Yes I had problems, but the problems were extension conflicts, web browser issues, and other issues with the OS, not necessarily because of disk space.
    Thanks,
    John

    John,
I found an authorized service center would charge me $80 to upgrade the hard drive of my Powerbook. An 100 GB laptop hard drive can be gotten for $150 from:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Toshiba/MK1032GAX/
and an 80 GB for $120:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Seagate/ST98823A/
So in reality we are only talking just over a couple hundred.
Of course a cheaper option would be to burn to CD or DVD the data you don't use frequently at least twice and take it off your system. To find out where files are, I've made this FAQ:
    http://www.macmaps.com/safetodeleteormove.html
    as well as this FAQ:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html

  • Error message need to free disk space-how do I do that?

I am getting an error message when I try to burn a dvd.  "Not enough free disk space for encoding the remaining assets"  How do I free the space?

By deleting or temporarily removing items (non system / not DVD related) from your HD.

  • Running out of disk space on D drive

    Hello!
Recently I keep getting a msg warning me that Im running out of space on D drive. I clean it up as suggested but it's not having any effect.
The MS forum moderator suggests it's a not an operating system issue but an issue for Toshiba.
It appears that files are being saved to D drive which shouldn't be happening...?

To be honest I dont understand what the problem is. You got this message but you didnt explain to us is partition D really full of data or not. You cleaned it up. It is OK but how? Have you removed data from partition D to some other partition or on external HDD maybe? Have you made more free space? What have you done?
You explain to us whole time what the message says and that you have cleaned it up following some MS advice but at least you didnt tell us anything what can help us to understand your problem.
If there is only 10% free space make more free space and everything will be OK.
You know, we dont know how you have configured your notebook. How many important data is saved on HDD. Nothing. How to give you some useful advice now?
MS has own opinion and if they say it is issue for notebook manufacturer what was their main argument for this? is HDD defective or what?

  • Need Help With Disk Space Issue

I am trying to free up some disk space on my MacBook Pro. Here is what I have in terms of usage of personal files:
    Music: 24.7 gb
    Pictures: 9.92 gb
    Documents: .379 gb
    Applications: 9.25 gb
    This totals 44.249 gb
My capacity is listed as 111.47 gb. The problem is that I am showing only 11.96 gb available. I don't understand why there is so much gab between what is listed above and the capacity. I realize the System files, Application Support, etc. use a fair amount, but it still seems like I should have more space. I have run Onyx to clear caches, optimize, etc., and that has helped, but only marginally. Are there large files somewhere I am not aware of? I have an iDisk, but I have iDisk Synching off, so there should not be a copy of it on my computer, unless tere is an old oe lurking somewhere. Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

    I'll give a very plain answer :P
My Movies folder has a 10 gb size, my Library folder has 5.83 gb, my root Library has 10.89 gb, my System folder has 4.2 gb. I believe there is much more than the basic folders that eats your HDD away.
I don't know if my folders size are normal, but I do know that adding only your basic folders won't give you the real amount of disk used. In my case I have 20.92 gb of space. I would also look the size of the Downloads folder and the Mail folder (in your home/Library/Mail I have 3.5 GB in one account only!)
    Hope this helps!
One last thing, not so long ago I saw a post about someone who found a file that was huge, the file was because he let the computer working overnight testing if it ran correctly by letting chess computer vs computer play all night. The game created an enormous file (I believe it was the nbook.db file in username/Library/Application Support/Chess/)
OR... use what Matt Clifton recommends jajaja... seems like a better idea :P
