Need to run Office Project (CrossOver Mac??)

I am going to school online and had thought we were good to go on my Mac. I did a system check with the online site and it is good. However my books came today and it includes Microsoft Office Project Standard 2007. I was looking at maybe using CrossOver Mac to run it. Any one used this before? There is a 30 day trial to see how it works. I start class in a week so need to do something quick. Buying Parallels and Windows is a last resort for financial reasons. Any thoughts??
Thanks for your help.

Run the trial and find out.

  • I have just purchased my first MacBook Pro and it is pretty fantastic. I own the disks for Microsoft Windows 7 ultimate, and Office 2010 Professional Plus, and need to run them in this Mac. 32 bit discs. Can this happen in boot camp?

I am trying to run Windows and Mac OS on my brand new MacBook Pro. I need to be able to boot to either one. I don't need a lot of hard drive space for the Windows OS. However, the software discs I own for Windows are 32 bit install. Is there a way to run this with what I have? I have the new MacBook 13 in. with retina display. 2.6Ghz i5 with 8GB RAM and 512 GB PCIe Hard drive.

Hi guys! I have a new Macbook Pro purchased from Best Buy yesterday. I had the Geek Squad upgrade the RAM to 8 gigs (They only had PNY brand, I was concerned but went with it anyway). I had them install Boot Camp Windows 7 Ultimate. Today I picked it up and when I started playing with it I learned that they installed the 32 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate instead of the 64 bit version, why, I have NO IDEA.
So, I want to replace the Win 7 installation with the 64 bit version but have read that this can be tricky. What is the proper way to do this? I'm not sure I trust the Geek Squad to do this for me.
I assume I need to reformat the Windows partition, defragment and then install the 64 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate, but am not completely sure. I want to be sure that I do NOT do anything that could affect the Mac side
    What do you guys think?
I think you should take it back to the Geeks and tell them what you want, I also think you should backup before you do.
You do not need to reformat or repartition, you need to reinstall Windows from a 64bit copy, 32 & 64 have identical requirements as far as partition and format go, defragmenting has nothing at all to do with your needs.

  • What do I need to run Windows on a Mac and Word for Windows?

I have a Mac OS X Lion and would like to run Windows programs which are only programmed to run on Windows.  What do I need so that I can run Windows and Microsoft Word.

Your best bet is to use VirtualBox to provide a virtual machine capability allowing the installation of a guest OS like windows. I've used VB extensively for years and I highly recommend it's use for your issue.
If you have a full version of windows, you could use bootcamp as an alternative to VB but you lose the ability to access the OSx environment while booted in windows.
    Best of luck

  • Office 2008 for Mac: Any advice on where to get it cheaper for a student?

I am about to go into my Master's Degree at Dallas Theological Seminary and I need to get Office 2008 for Mac. The Apple store recommended me get it at my school but my school's bookstore does not have it and journeyed.com doesn't support DTS. Does anyone know how or where I can get this program for less than $100 with a student discount? I really need to know.

    Remember... Google is your friend.

I'm running VMWare Fusion, and will need to install MS Project.  Do I also need to install Microsoft Office to run MS Project?  I already have MS Project for MAC.

Microsoft Office is typically a separate product from Project.  You should not have to install Office to get Project.

I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be  adjusted.
I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…).

I want to use microsoft office on my mac. I need it to run on windows platform. Which is better: boot camp or parallels 7 ?

    Welcome to Apple Communities
You can install Office for Mac. If you don't want it, Boot Camp uses all the hardware, so it has the best performance for Windows, and Parallels allows you to run Windows in Mac without reboot and without Boot Camp. To use only this, download Parallels

  • Need to run windows OS on my macbook pro at the same time with MAC OS. what do i use

I need to run windows OS & office so i can access my company server. What is the best platform to use & which will enable you to run both oS at the same time.
    Thanks

Depending on the specific features that you think you need in a Virtual Machine, you should research the paid "Parallels" and "VMWare Fusion", and the free yet very capable "VirtualBox".  I personally use VirtualBox because it does NOT include all of the Mac-to-VM interactivity features that the others do.  For performance and security reasons, I specifically do not want my VM to be able to interact with my Mac OS host in any way other than copy and paste.
On your Windows VM, if you are running windows 8.1, and are not logged in as an administrator as your primary account, then the built in Windows Defender is a perfectly suitable for anti-malware protection.  If you are running Windows 7 (or 8.1) and want additional protection I would recommend "BitDefender Free" as it has great protection yet has a very light-weight performance hit.

Anybody ever get any events like this before? I'm not finding much or nothing on Google or on other forums, so I thought I would run it past and see if anyone has experienced anything of a similar
nature. And yes, the farm account obviously has creator/secadmin permissions, at this point of our deployment....
I look forward to any and all feedback. Thanks and good afternoon!

I figured out the answer to this myself. For those few who might run into something akin to my error...
During the off-hours of where I work, I re-applied the farm account credentials to all dB server VM SQL services that had the account for a log-on (i.e., MSSQLSERVER, SQLSERVERAGENT, etc.) as well as all SharePoint services on our WFE/App Server VM (a two
server farm is what we host), in that order. Then I rebooted the dB server first, followed by the SharePoint server. Upon coming back, everything was working fine again. I was able to provision a site, no probelm, and it seemed to even be a little snappier
    when doing so.
One note: doing this procedure gave me a "One or more services have started or stopped unexpectedly" error in the Health Analyzer, for the SPTimerV4 service. When you get this, simply enter into the item and click on "Reanalyze Now;" this will quickly clear
the error out of the Analyzer, and all should be right with the world! :)

    Hello,
There are no files like that in that folder (com.apple.safari).  They all have long numbers with .jpeg or .png at the end.  That's what I meant by I cannot find any files like those mentioned in all the helps I read today.  BTW-it's still crashing - no particular pattern to it at all.
The only two things I have downloaded recently is a new version of Flash and a Mac-driven update to Office.
Thank you very much for your attempt to help us.

  • How do u run office mac on the new imac

error message says cnnont open application microsoft word because power pc applications are no longer supported  how do i run office mac on the new imac

Office 2004 probably was the best MS Office ever, works fine on PPC machines, badly enough on intel machines, unusable in Lion.
Office 2008 was a step back, runs badly on PPC machines, not very good for newer, Intel macs either.
Office 2011 seems the only rational solution for newer macs running SL and Lion.
There are free and good solutions, OpenOffice, LibreOffice and NeoOffice, all based on OO language. Apple’s iWork also offers a good solution, may be a little problematic if you currently exchange files with Windows users, mainly if you must keep the original format, including inserted data.
    Summing up:
    - if you frequently / currently exchange data with Windows users, MS Office is the best solution from reasons of comfort
    - if not, any free office quoted above makes its job fairly well
    - iWork is also good, and smoothly integrated with Mac OS X, of course
If you mainly need word processing, Mellel and / or Nisus are (very) good alternatives, may be tested for 30 days, then decide.
The offer is, as you may see, rich, richer than in Windows, but this also means, as the French say, l’embarras du choix, difficulty of choosing something!

  • What does my Mac need to run Access 2003 and SAM training CD

I'm enrolled in an intro database class using Microsoft Office Access 2003 and SAM 2003 Assessment and Training CD. Both require a PC, but I have Mac Book Pro 2. Would someone please explain to a PC dummy what my Mac would need to run these two applications or if I need to (gulp) purchase a PC. Mostly likely I'll be taking additional classes in the future. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Forums.
You will need the following to Run MS Access and SAM 2003:
    1. An Intel Mac (You already have this)
    2. Leopard Operating System (You have Tiger), which contains boot camp to install Windows
    3. Windows XP or Windows Vista installation Disk (Please read the Boot Camp instructions/Guide)
    4. Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 for Windows (which has MS Access)

  • Need to run windows on new imac with lion.  where do i get windows for mac?

I have a new iMac and am new to Apple after 30+ years with PC-based hardware & software.  First of all, and not to offend, but anyone who says Mac computers are easier to use than Windows computers must be talking about people who just came out of the jungle and are seeing their first computer.  Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest.  That aside, I have legacy software that I need to run on the Mac (actually, one of the programs is CALLED Legacy).  I'm told that if I want to use Bootcamp or Parallels software I need to install Windows on the Mac.  Is that a special kind of Windows made for Mac, or will just any old Windows do?  I've checked Bing and Google but they're so "ad-crazed" that I couldn't find anything.
I'm sure that, after 30 more years, I'll probably have the Mac OS down and find Windows 21 (or whatever they'll call it) to be difficult to use. .

Nope. Any flavor should work including both 32- and 64-bit versions. See these for more:
