Need to run "udevadm trigger" again after startx

I rearranged some keyboard modifiers according to instructions found here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ma … etkeycodes
Everything works except that when I start X11 (with startx), then I have to run "udevadm trigger" again to get the new modifiers working. This is the case for both my laptop and USB keyboards.
Any ideas?
$ cat /etc/udev/hwdb.d/10-my-sane-modifiers.hwdb
keyboard:usb:* # match all keyboards for now
keyboard:usb:v05AFp8277* # but especially my Kensington Slim Type
KEYBOARD_KEY_70039=leftalt # bind capslock to leftalt
KEYBOARD_KEY_700e2=leftctrl # bind leftalt to leftctrl
keyboard:dmi:* # laptop keyboard
KEYBOARD_KEY_3a=leftalt # bind capslock to leftalt
KEYBOARD_KEY_38=leftctrl # bind leftalt to leftctrl

Hi Neha.
Thanks for quik turn around. But I need this z program to run after all changes are done in XK02 because I need to use the changed vendor data in the BDC program. This is the exit which triggers before save, so I couldn't get the changed vendor data from database table to use in z program (BDC).
Hope I am clear.
Cheers,
sami.

  • Do I need to run a malware scan after removing uTorrent?

I know this is a dumb question, but I don't know of any malware scan sites for Mac that I trust. I'm using Mavericks and my OS is up-to-date. Do I need to run a malware scan after uninstalling uTorrent? If so, where would I get one I can trust?
Here is my scenario - On a recommendation (which I no longer trust) I installed uTorrent, as I wanted to download a file that was only available in torrent form. (This file is a legally available file, so I would not be violating copyright.)
What made me worry was the when I downloaded uTorrent, it installed without asking me to enter my admin password. This raised a red flag for me. So I immediately uninstalled uTorrent, by moving the Application to trash.
So, now that I have it uninstalled, is there a danger it may have left unwanted files on my Mac?
I don't see any evidence of unwanted files. Just wondering. Am I worrying for nothing?

There aren't any. It is not possible to scan one's computer from a web-site, they are all scams. All or most of the Windows sites are, as well.

Many applications can be installed without the need for an admin password since they don't need to install files in any common or system locations. As long as everything goes into the Applications folder and your user folder, you should never need admin permissions.
uTorrent itself is a perfectly legit application that can be used for illegal activities, like all BitTorrent apps. I'm sure it comes with an Apple developer ID signature and under normal circumstances should not be able to harm your OS X or it's applications. But to some extent it depends on where you obtained the app itself. Any app you obtain from AppStore, a legit developer site or MacUpdate should be just fine. If you got it from C|Net's download.com or Softonic then it may have come with an installer that will also install annoying adware. It would have notified you that it was being installed (and again, no admin password is required), but a large majority of users never read those dialogs and blindly click through them to get their app installed and in use as soon as possible. If you think the latter is a possibility, then the Adware Removal Guide that Carolyn tipped you to has a Adware Removal Tool that should make quick work of anything like that.

  • Updating Comms 6 GA to U2, do I need to run comm_dssetup.pl again?

I'm planning on upgrading our Comms 6 server from GA to U2.
Do I need to run comm_dssetup.pl if I already ran it under Comms 6.0 GA?
I read [the wiki|http://comm_dssetup.pl] and get the impression that this is required if you are going from a non 6.0 version of comms. Further clarification here or in the wiki would be great.

Can i run commpkg upgrade and upgrade comm_dssetup.pl and Delegated admin before taking an outage to upgrade for the rest (mail, calendar, convergence and IM) of the components. The first step will be to run ./commpkg upgrade to upgrade dssetup (and only dssetup) and then run the comm_dssetup.pl command. This will result in the Directory Server being restarted after the schema changes have been applied (short outage period assuming everything goes smoothly).
Once you have upgraded dssetup you can then run ./commpkg upgrade again to upgrade just Delegated Administrator. This will automatically deploy the updated version into the web-container. You will need to restart the web-container after the upgrade process has concluded.
Are there any side effects from taking delegated admin offfline while the rest of comms is running.Where have you deployed Delegated Administrator? Is it in the same web-container as Convergence and UWC/CE?

  • Do I need to run anti-viral program after trying to open a spam attachment?

I was tricked by a spam email and clicked on a link, which did not open.  I've been advised to delete the email (done), change my password (done), and run anti-viral program (not done, and never have).  What, if anything, should I do?

You don't need to run antivirus software after that. Just be more careful in the future.

    pleas help

Insert the MacOSX DVD. Ignore what Windows wants.
Find a way to shut down or restart, even if you have to do a power button crash shutdown.
To boot from the DVD on the next start up of the Mac, at the sound of the chime, hold and continue to down the 'C' key until you see the grey apple logo. This will be the sign that the DVD is booting the computer.
    OR,
On the next start up of the Mac, hold down the Opt/Alt key until the boot loader shows all your bootable options. Chose the MacOSX DVD.
Using the second option of starting up with the boot loader, you might see an available MacOSX to boot from. Maybe you have not hosed the MacOS after all. Choose the MacOSX partition instead to see whether it is corrupted or not. I say to do this because you may not have known that in Windows in the tray area there is a Boot Camp Utility. You could use the utility to select the operating system you want to boot from. If there is no MacOSX to boot from, then yes, it is probably hosed.

  • Do you always need to run enable-cstopology/bootstrapper after update?

If I look at the instructions for the January updates:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809243/
I can see that it says you have to run "Install-csdatabase". But as far as I can see you dont need to that because the database are already at the correct level.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/dodeitte/archive/2013/07/02/how-to-verify-if-lync-server-2013-database-updates-completed-successfully.aspx
My question is if the last part about mobility and running bootstrapper is also redundant since I already have mobility enabled?
I guess the information is there since it is a cumulativeupdate so if you have not installed any of the previous updates you have to run both the database update and enable the mobility service?

At the beginning of the KB article it does say which steps have to be run depending on the current version of Lync Server.
"To install updates for a Lync Server 2013 installation that has the July 2013 cumulative update (5.0.8308.420) or a later update installed,
you must perform the following step 1.
To install updates for a Lync Server 2013 installation that has the February 2013 cumulative updates (5.0.8308.291) installed, you must perform
the following steps 1 and 2.
To install updates for Lync Server 2013 RTM (5.0.8308.0) you must perform the following steps 1-5."
    Step 1: Install CU
Step 2: Back end database updates
    Step 3: CMS database update
    Step 4: Enable Mobility service
    Step 5: Enable UCWA

SAP OSS has been sitting on this for over 1 week now.

I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Are they necessary to add?  Why would one add these tags and how do I add H Tags to iweb? And are there examples to look at? I am slowly learning about simple web design and assumed that iweb was stand alone without having to write code. Is this one of the reasons iweb is no longer supported? Thanks for looking at this!

A simple text page like this:
    Heading
        sub heading
              text paragraph ....
Is traditionally represented by html tags like:
    <h1>Heading</h1>
         <h2>sub heading</h2>
              <p>text paragraph ... </p>
I would guess that the use of h1-h6 tags helps search engines to understand the structure of a page as the tags imply a certain structure.
This can be compared to more generic tags like <div> that could represent any kind of content - and may be what iWeb uses (you'll have to check yourself).
I would generally recommend that you use some kind of up to date blog/site building tool, perhaps Wordpress or Squarespace (I haven't used either one myself) that support current web technologies - this should reduce your SEO issues and make it easier to properly support mobile/tablet users.

yes, a few times. the number of authorised computers decreases and increases from zero to one and vice versa accordingly. yet I am still being told that it cannot sync.

  • After installing zone Alarm extreme 10, firefox.exe 32 stays running in the background after closing, making it not possible to open it again.

After installing the latest Zone Alarm Extreme v10, on windows 7 x64, when I close firefox, the window closes but firefox.exe 32 remains running in the background, which makes that when I want to open firefox again, after about a minute I get the error that an instance of firefox is still running. I go to task manager and end task of firefox.exe 32 and then open firefox again.
    This is now happening regularly.

This seemed to come out of the blue, very much as described by anima42. I also am a Ubuntu 10.04 user. I have pondered on the first reply above, and though I don't, and didn't, use Tabberwocky, I was using Tab Mix Plus. Having removed this, the problem seems to have gone away. Another possible clue as to what went wrong: I use a constant Firefox profile located in my home directory. I dabbled with Ubuntu 11.04 a week or so ago, which runs (I think) a more updated Firefox. This Firefox was operating on my default profile, as you would. It may have broken something so it now doesn't play nicely with the 10.04 setup. Just surmising.

  • Do we need to run catbundle.sql for ANY new db we create after CPU's?

We're in the middle of reviewing the JAN2009CPU readme, and found a curiosity in the patch notes.
    - Our platform is Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition on Solaris 10 64-bit.
In the Post-Patch instructions for the CPU, we see the following clause
    {color:#3366ff} ...
3.3.5, "Post Installation Instructions for New and Upgraded Databases"
These instructions are for both non-RAC environments and RAC environments
when a database is created or upgraded after the installation of CPUJan2009.
You must execute the steps in Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files
into the Database"" and Section 3.3.2.2, "Recompiling Views in the Database"
for *any new database that was created* by any of the following methods:
    - Using DBCA (Database Configuration Assistant) to select a sample database (General, Data Warehouse, Transaction Processing)
    - Using a script that was created by DBCA that creates a database from a sample database
    - Cloning a database that was created by either of the two preceding methods,
and if Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files into the Database"
was not executed after CPUJan2009 was applied.
Upgraded databases require no post-installation steps to be executed.
    {color}
I don't understand -- does this mean we have to do the following any time
we create a new database from now on?
    - run dbca
    {color:#ff0000} - run '@?/rdbms/admin/catbundle.sql cpu apply'
    - check $ORACLE_HOME/cfttoollogs/catbundle/catbundle_CPU_&lt;SID&gt;_APPLY_&lt;TimeStamp&gt;.log for errors
    - run '@?/cpu/view_recompile/view_recompile_jan2008cpu'{color}
I would have thought that the new SQL scripts under $ORACLE_HOME are already
upgraded, so that we do not *have* to do any extra work on top of simply running
dbca to create a new DB.
I see a similar phrase in the CPU2008JUL (patch 7150470):
{color:#0000ff} "You must execute the steps in this section (Section 3.3.2.1,

{color:#0000ff} You must execute the steps ... for any new database you create or
any database upgraded to this release since the CPUOct2008 patch was applied.
    {color}
.. but the April 2008 CPU (patch 6864068) doesn't have these clauses.

and not run the catbundle.sql, had any problems?

*You must execute the steps* in Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files

for any new database that was created <b><i><u>by any of the following methods</u></i></b>:

So, if you create a database by any of the explicitly listed methods (all of which are creating a database from a backup that my have been made of a database that was not patched to that level) then you need to run the scripts. If you create a database by some other method (about all that is left is a command line CREATE DATABASE) then part of that creation will necessarily include running the necessary cat* scripts, which will already be at the correct level.
