Do you see the hot sync icon (circle with red and blue arrows) on the bottom right of your computer screen - right near where the time is displayed?
If it is not there, the hot sync will be disabled and you need to enable the program by opening the HOT SYNC MANAGER. This can be found when you click on Start > Programs/All Programs > Palm OS/Palm One > Hot Sync Manager.
The hot sync manager should then show up on your screen (on the bottom right) and you should be able to sync.
Let us know if this works for you!!
Good Luck!!

hello soundguy and welcome to the forums....
You can only sync to Vista 64 bit with a Bluetooth wireless connection.  Palm has no drivers for 64 bit version of Vista supporting the cable sync.  Unfortunately, the Z22 does not have Bluetooth.
The only suggestions I can offer is to use an IRDA to USB adapter and sync that way.  The challenge is to find an Infra Red adapter with 64 bit drivers.

  • My computer crashed and I need to rebuild my site on a different computer

My computer crashed and I need to rebuild my iweb site on another computer. What do I need to do?

I take it that you didn't backup your domain.sites file?  If not, then on the Mac that you are re-building your site on, just open iWeb and start re-building.
If you did, then attach the hard drive that you want to restore from to the Mac that you are using and restore the relevant domain.sites file to that computer and then double click it to open it and iWeb should open it.

  • Need help with transferring iTunes library to different computer

My old iPod stopped working so I bought a new one.  For my older iPod I use a different computer but I want to use a different computer for my new iPod.  I have all my songs on an external hard drive and I want to use that for my other computer.  How do I keep the same library stats such as play count, last played, date added etc. on the new computer?  When I am looking through the iTunes files there are multiple library databases and I don't know which one contains all my stats data that I want to transfer over to the new computer.  Also, how do I transfer all my playlists to the other computer?  Thanks!

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • PSE 10 Need to reconnect all after restore to different computer.

I backed up the catalog from PSE 10 on my iMac after checking no files were disconnected.  Restored to MacBook pro choosing once same location, and another time different location, but retained file structure.  The files appear to have transferred without problem, but are disconnected.  Using properties, I find that the location of the file is where it is supposed to be.  If I reconnect a single file, it appears to be exactly where it should be; i.e. the paths on both sides of the reconnect screen are the same when the reconnect is accomplished.  There are 20K plus files in the catalog, and the spinning wheel of death which appears when I select "reconnect all files" is daunting.  What should I do to keep the files from being disconnected in trying to accomplish this transfer?  Many thanks in advance for anyone's help.
Message was edited by: finstead --The spinning wheel of death is gone, but the reconnect function is going file be file, apparently not learning from the process. Disconnected files adjacent to one another in the original file structure are subject to the same agonizing search function by the program.

Over the course of several months I have restored several times and probably duplicated the images or even overwritten them.  I removed all catalogs and all folders containing PSE photos.  PSE requested a new catalog which I created "Catalog test.  I then restored to new location retaining file structure and had instant success!  Thanks!

  • Laptop broken, need to set up new itunes on new computer without loosing data.

So my old laptop has broken, which has my itunes account on. I would like to set up a new itunes on my newer laptop without losing any of my data on my iphone. So I entered in my apple ID onto my new itunes on the homesharing option to see if the data from my phone would automatically show up on my new itunes, I already managed to get my music into it by installing something to get them onto my new computer, but i'm worried about apps, pictures, contacts, notes etc. all being deleted.
There is a backup option which appears when I plug my phone in, one says 'A full backup of your iphone will be stored on this computer' Does this mean it will sync all my data from my iphone onto my itunes?
    I have itunes version 11.1.2.32

  • Airport Utility for my Airport Extreme needs to be changed to a different computer, because the current computer is down permanently.. How do I do this?  Do I have to reset the Airport Extreme and start from scratch?

The computer (Win XP) on which the Airport Utility has been set up for the past few years is no longer accessible, so I need to set it up on a different computer. Can I do that with my exisitng wireless network, or will I have to set up a new network from scratch, once I have installed Airport Utility on the new machine?

You can install AirPort Utility on either a Mac or PC, but there would be no reason to make any changes to your existing configuration on the AirPort Extreme unless you need to do so.

  • Hot Synching Palm Z22 with 64 bit Windows 7

I just purchased a new Sony Vaio running 64 bit Windows 7 and I'm unable to Hot Sync my Palm Z22 to my computer.  I've been a Palm user for years, with my current one being my 3rd model and it's been my lifeline but I'm highly agitated and frustrated that the Palm folks haven't posted any updates to handle my current situation.  Everything I read here indicates spending additional money to go the infrared route and some people aren't even having success while others struggled a long time to make it eventually sync.  Does anyone out there have an identical situation as mine, who'd be willing to give me sound advice as to what I need to do and how to do it in order to get my Palm to communicate with my 64 bit Windows 7 platform?  Thank you to anyone who's able to assist.

    @MrCobol:
This subject has been discussed and beaten to death in many other threads here.  The facts (again) are:
    1. Palm sold the rights to Palm Desktop many years ago.  Railing against Palm/HP makes no sense.  If you want an update, complain to Access of Japan.  They are the owners of the software, and they chose to drop the ball.
    2. Many other companies have struggled to come up with 64bit drivers for their existing software (that they actually own!)
    3. Palm OS devices were EOL'd quite a while ago.  They were supported through Vista 32 bit.  Microsoft changed things, and you chose to buy a 64bit system.  HPalm has moved on to a whole new OS and devices, and support for PalmOS is nearing an end.
Yes, it would have been great if Access stepped up to the "plat" and provided a 64bit version of Palm Desktop, but that didn't happen.  Workarounds have been provided on this forum by devoted users, and they do work!

  • Palm Z22, Vista, AMD Phenom X4, Asus will not sync

I have a Palm Z22 and a computer with an AMD Phenom X4 CPU, an Asus motherboard, and Vista.
Sync problems range from unrecognized device to no progress when HotSync tries to connect.
I have worked with Palm techs and with Microsoft and tried every trick I have read about including modifying the register.
My hardware vendor has also tried, including going back to XP with no luck on this hardware.
Has anyone had success connecting in this configuration?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

I do not have bluetooth on either the PC or the Palm, but I have tried a USB to IrDA dongle.  No help, same result.
In my most recent attempt, the USB driver window in the lower right says the Palm driver is loaded.  I also have an entry in the USB window that says an unidentified device has been found.  Sometimes I get the window that says connecting.  Next, the Palm shows that the connection could not be established.
Just tried again to sync with the cable, and the USB window in the lower right reports that the device is not working correctly, replace the device.  As mentioned before, the Palm works perfectly on my old XP based machine and on another Vista computer
The Desktop software from Access has a note that it will not work with multi-CPU machines; however, it also states that this does not apply to multi-core CPUs.
Is it possible that I am the only person using a multi-core CPU ?  Or maybe the AMD quad-core Phenom is seen as multiple CPUs. The speed advantage of this CPU and motherboard are why I selected this configuration.

  • Updating my ipod software on a different computer

My ipod touch is synced tyo my itunes on my laptop... my laptop no longer works.. i need to update my software on a different computer....how do i go about this without losing any music?

A manual backup will help in your situation.
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your iPod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
Apps can be downloaded again for free, in some countries music as well: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HOW TO?: Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?

Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account.  For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

  • I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas.  1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?

I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas.  1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?

You can set them up with your Apple ID if you want to. You can also set them up with their dad's Apple ID. Depending on how old the boys are, you can even let then have their own Apple ID's. The one thing that you don't want to do is have them use more than one Apple ID on their iPads.
If you want to be able to share purchased content, then setting them up with either your ID or your husband's (?) ID would be the way to go. If the boys share an ID with one of you, they can download content that you have already purchased without having to pay for it again.
If you and have the financial wherewithal to allow them to purchase their own individual content, I would recommend letting them have their own Apple ID. This way, as they grow older and eventually move on, they will have their own accounts, their own purchases .... No ties needed to your ID or to dad's ID. FaceTime and Messages will be a little easier to set up if they have their own ID's and they can have their own iCloud accounts as well. However, they must be 13 years old in order to have an Apple ID and iTunes account. If they are under 13, then it's a no brainer you will have to use yours or their father's ID.
Whatever you decide to do, just don't switch from one ID to another ID on the iPads. That gets confusing and they could end up locking themselves out of one of the ID's for 90 days if they download a past purchase using a different ID.
