Need to stream a 15 minute video clip

I need to put a video on my flash website. What is the best method for compressing the video so that when people click on it, it will starting playing and at the same time, continue to load the video. It is a video of a band with lots of contrast and fast moving lights, so I can't compromise quality.
Thanks,
Mike
Compressor 1.2.1
Final Cut Pro 4.5
Quicksilver and Titanium   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

If you are using Compressor 2 for compression, have you experimented with any of the presets?
Otherwise, are you using Sorenson Queeze, Cleaner or something else?
Help us out with some info.

Maybe try one of the WiFi transfer Apps?  There are several to choose from. I use Photosynch quite often to send photos and videos between my computer(s), my iPhone, and iPad.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
What are the properties of your source media and what project preset are you setting to match the properties of your source media?
There is no 1080p50 5.1 project preset in any version of Premiere Elements.
Please see the following for creating your own 1080p50 5.1 project preset and exporting it as 1080p50 5.1.

  • Need to recreate artwork for imported video clips

Anyone know how to make iTunes regenerate artwork for video clips it has imported?
About three weeks ago I upgraded from 7.1.something to 7.3.2. Huge mistake. Huge. I have about about 5,000 video clips in iTunes and when the update had finished the artwork for about 98% of them was gone and the remaining ones were "misplaced," i.e., the artwork has nothing to do with the clip it's attached to. For every one of these clips the artwork had been generated when the clip was imported, now there's no artwork or the artwork is wrong and iTunes won't let me do the "set artwork to poster frame" routine - as if I would consider doing that for 5,000 clips. It's almost as if iTunes considers the new, "blank artwork" to be real, unmodifiable artwork except that it doesn't take up space in Cover Flow.
Not only that but the images displayed in Cover Flow are tiny - one-third the size of audio album cover art - and there doesn't seem to be any way to enlarge them.
What a mess. And only in video - no related problem in the music section.

I'd recommend you grab After Effects for your special effects and if you have a lot of editing, also Premiere. Although you can do it all in After Effects, Premiere is a lot easier to edit with. The combination is used very frequently. All your assets from your other applications are usable to various extents in both of these applications.

  • Why does Compressor take so long to export a 10 minute video clip from Final Cut Pro?

I've been trying export a 10 minute clip from Final Cut Pro. so it can be used with DVD Studio Pro and burned. However, the rendering process has taken 12 hours! The clip I'm exporting has minimal effects, no music, and is in 1080i 30fps. Does anyone know what's going on or what I can do to speed up the process?

First: How are you exporting? Are you using the Share feature or  Send to Compressor?
Second: You haven't said anything about your system configuration or really very much about your movie. What is its format… is it really 30fps or 29.97? Whatever it is, are the project settings identical to the clip properties, or were they changed?

  • Transferring a 20 minute video clip from DVD to Mac

    Hi
I would loke to transfer an old 20 minute clip from a DVD to my Mac. How do I do this?

I'm assuming you have an external DVD drive. You can use Handbrake to 'rip' the DVD to your computer, assuming the DVD isn't copy-protected.

  • Need to post 12 minute video on YouTube using Pro 7

I need to take a 12 minute video I am submitting as part of a grant proposal for an Elementary school and convert it into a size and filetype that will work on YouTube. My understanding is the video will be uploaded to a "special" youtube site, which I take it means the amount of room will be increased to support larger video files. The only guide I could find on the YouTube site told me to resize to 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio. If these are options in Pro 7, I have yet to find them. Any advice and help is welcome.

Sorry I'm jumping in a bit late.
convert it into a size and filetype that will work on YouTube.
We don't know from your description (and I understand that you probably don't know either) whether this means a file like the ones YouTube plays or the ones you upload to Youtube.  I think it is still true that YouTube takes whatever is sent to them and converts it.  Formats supported for upload are wide ranging:
    http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=55744&cbid=-11f4fruguj68p&src=c b&lev=%20index
For non-HD material at least, I found that I preferred to export a wmv file, 640x480 square pixels, progressive, and to change the datarate to max the quality for the length of the video.  I think I ended up using 2400-2600 for most things.
I suspect that you are running into distortion problems because you are not taking this to square pixels in an appropriate format, and/or changing too many settings.

  • Please help me with this urgent viewing and editing question for a long video clip.

Hi, I have never used this software before and when I imported a 2 hours and 12 minute video clip of my sister's wedding into the system and added it as one sequence into the program it would only allow me to watch and edit the first 2 minutes.
Why is that and how can I rectify this so that I can watch and edit the whole clip?
Also, can such a long video clip be edited by trimming it and creating transitions where I see fit?
Thanks so much for your advice as I am feeling really stuck right now.

  • 10 hour export time for 2 minute video

    Hi,
I am using Premiere Pro CS3 with Windows Vista.
My laptop has 50gb of free disk space and 4gb of memory.
I have recently purchased a new Cannon camera that records video in Mov with res 1920x1080.
I have a six minute video clip that is 860mb in its original format. I am attempting to resize the video to 1280x720 whilst also altering the levels and changing the speed/duration to 220%. With this alteration to the speed the clips length is reduced to around 2 or 3 minutes long. I wish to export the video as a Mov, keeping it in its original format.
When attempting to render by hitting enter on the clip, or skipping straight to exporting, I recieve an estimated time of 10 hours to complete. The exportation seems to be going ahead but only by 1 frame every 10 or 20 seconds.
Would really appreciate any tips with where i'm going wrong with this. I'm fairly inexpiernced with premiere pro and therefore do not know if this is a problem with settings I am using or just with my computer.
    Thanks Very Much
    Tim

1st - the average laptop is going to be VERY slow for video editing (more below)
    - Laptop Video Editing PC http://forums.adobe.com/message/4578948
    - go to http://ppbm5.com/ and check the laptop results to "guesstimate" where your brand/model would place
2nd - even a fast computer may be slow, depending on the video file and with "combined" effects
More on why the "average" laptop is slow... plus, of course, the average laptop has a 5400rpm drive instead of 7200rpm
Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
    Partition = Crash http://forums.adobe.com/thread/957286
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used the eSata hardware below... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • Can Shake make a video clip look poster like?

I'm a very long time user of FCP. I'm looking for a software app that I can put on a video clip that will give it a "poster" or cartoon like or 2D animated look. If anyone's seen the 2008 Coca-Cola short film winner, this is what I'm looking for:
    http://www.ccrfa.com/ccrfa/
Can Shake do this? FCP can give a poster-like look, but it's only a frame at a time. On a five minute video clip, that could take awhile...
I'm willing to buy whatever software / hardware is needed, but I just want to know if I'm buying the right software.
    Thanks.

  • Can I record a we video clip ?

Can I record a wee video clip using i photo?

    Hi
Run your mouse along the Dock. Do you see Photo Booth? If you do launch it. You should now be looking at yourself. Below the main window is a section that has 3 icons to the left. One of the icons looks like a small clip of film. Click on this. The Icon in the middle (the red one) turns into a what I think looks like a film camera icon rather than a camera icon. Click on this. You'll now get a countdown of 3 seconds. A timer display will appear to the left of the moving screen. When you've recorded enough click the middle icon again to stop recording. A file of the clip you've just captured will appear in the bottom panel.
Click and hold this clip and drag it to the desktop. Quit out of Photo Booth. Launch your preferred mail application and add the movie clip as an attachment.
Your only problem I can see is making sure you keep file sizes down as most ISPs will limit attachment sizes to 15MBs or less. A 1 minute video clip using Photo Booth is approx 3.5MBs.
That's as simple as I can make it.

  • Dragging AVI video clip from iPhoto to mail to send

I want to send a 2 minute video clip to some familly members, but mail keeps quitting when I hit send.

252.4MB is way too much for an email... the maximum capacity of an email should be around 10MB (20 at most). You should consider another way to send your file... (thumb drive?)
Another option is to use Quicktime Pro to re-encode the movie in a lighter file.

  • Email video clip to PC w/o Quicktime

I have to email a 2 minute video clip to a PC that does not have Quicktime installed. Is there a fast, easy way to do this.
    Thank you,
    Steven

Fast and easy? Simple: Attach the clip and email it. Let them sort the problem out.
Slower and not so easy: convert the clip to a format they can use and send it
Permanent solution: get them to install quicktime.

  • Can I spped up a video clip?

I have a 10 minute video clip that I would like to speed up - not cut anything out, just make it shorter than the 10 minutes..... any suggestions?
    Thanks!

You're using iMovie HD 6, right?
Click the Editing Button and choose Video FX.
There you'll find an effect called Fast/Slow/Reverse.
Then apply it to the clip you wish to speed up.
