Need to take Reprository backup in SAP BI7.0
Hi,
Now I am using SAP BI7.0 server and I am planning to take backup.
I am planning to take the backup only the Metadata Repository. I need only the Structure to take backup because I am not having space to take Database backup so I am planning to take Repository backup only.
Any Once can suggest how to take Metadata Repository from RSA1 t-code.
Any One can give the replay ASAP.
Check the Key Fields in the DSO.
Ex: Key Fields are EMPID, JOB and Data Fields are Startdate and end date...
When you are trying to load the following data
1221 HR 01.01.2009 12.12.2009
1221 HR 01.01.2010 12.12.2010
Once you hve loaded the above data you will get only one record in DSO.
ONce you include the Startdate and enddate fields in KEYFIELDS of DSO you will get two records.
May be you are also facing the similar issue. Have a check with Key fields of DSO.

How to take Auto backup from External Network Drive to Mac pro internal Dri
Hi,
I have a External Network Drive (Buffalo 1TB) which i use as a server, now i need to take auto backup from that external drive to the Mac i am working on, which has 2TB Internal hard Disk.
Please could anyone help me on this.....
Thanks in advanceIf you are looking to actually integrate what you have on the external one terabyte hard drive with the 2 TB hard drive you're using inside the Mac the best move for you if you want access to that data when using the Mac Pro server is going into utilities click on the top bar where it says go fall that down to the utilities told them that folder quickly once you are there you will see migration assistant click on that you will be asked to type your admin password to that. It will ask you "how do you want to transfer your information" then select from a Time machine backup or other disk when it asks you will be transferring information to your Mac Pro from your 1 Tb backup external hard drive once it's finished eject the drive or reformat it and use it again if your objective was to infect keep compress the data on the external so you have more space but do not have access to it I strongly recommend Carbon Copy Clone 3.3.1 is 100% free and does a fantastic job here is the link http://www.pure-mac.com/downloads/carboncopyclonerdl.html of copying every block to create an exact replica of your source hard drive. If you want something different and don't mind paying SuperDuper! is a great product as well this WebSite will have many options I would stick to carbon copy clone http://www.pure-mac.com/backup.html I also like EMC Retrospect backup and recovery software for the Mac it is a great product but very much on the expensive side for backup utilities although if you need word offers this might be right up your alley.
I hope I wasn't help,
Sincerely,

New to sap - need help in configure backup strategy for SAP XI server.
hi gurus
being a netweaver guy, recently i have been given the responsibility of few basis activities.like database backup.
can any one tell me clear procedure to take both daily online and weekend full offline backup of oracle in to disk first and then to tape. i have seen in the internet material few discussing about brbackup and few about sap DB13. i am totally confused which one to use, and which is good. please help
akhilHi,
welcome on board as SAP Netweaver guy,
don't be confused both DB13 and BRtools are the same both of them will call brbackup.
to configure the brtools you have to change in your brtools profiles located at %ORACLE_HOME%/dbs
please before changing any thing take backup from that folder.
- to take the backup to disk then to tape you will need extra backup software, because using the SAP slandered tools you have to select either Disk or Tape.
Thanks

Cheers, Tom -
my question is that do i need to take backup before upgrading my OS?
If everything during the uograde works perfectly your data should not be touched.
Having said that, I don't know about you but I never trust my data to everything working perfectly. So I always back up. In fact I backup twice, once with Time Machine and the other is a clone done by SuperDuper.
You really should being backing up your data on a continuous basis.
Get an external disk and use either Time Machine or a cloning tool such as SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner.

In need of help going from Windows SAP GUI to Mac/Java SAP GUI 7.20
Hi Everyone, first post...I want to thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.
I got everything working except for 1 out of 6 servers I need to connect to - of course this is the most important one.
It all comes down to the conversion of saplogon.ini to the new file format, instead of using the GUI to make a list I have created 6 individual .sapc files that I run directly. I found some converters but only had so much success with them, nothing solid and 100% full proof.
I'm going to post my windows config files and maybe you can tell me why logging into this system GP8 doesn't work from my mac?
saplogon.ini (I believe it's item 4 that is the full config for the server I'm trying to connect to)

Please tell me from all the info you have here what needs to take place for me to be able to connect to GP8. Can I do it from an sapc file? Do I have to configure other core files and go to my preferences and tell SAP to look at certain configs? I'm sure someone here can help me.
Thanks so much for your time

Edited by: nstabl on Feb 27, 2012 10:07 PMHello John,
please try the "SAP GUI for Java Configuration Generator Scripts" available at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25456#section9 .
For using the message server to connect to GP8, the information of the port number of the message server for GP8 is missing. For direct connection to GP8, it might work to use the connection string "conn=/H/gp8001.trans.de/S/3288" .

SmithDear Pierre F.;
Actually, I just added in my backup plan to have daily backup through RMAN, instead of COLD backup.
I have planned to take cold backup once a week. here is the side of data:
*** datafile 410
*** size of database : 86 GM
*** relog files size : 250MB
*** daily archive logs are : 250MB * 4(number of files) = 1GM aprox.
yes, time constraint is there; just because of the size of database. and we r going for 24/7
Is this script going to run only one per week ?
Ans: no I this was level 0 backup; i will take level 1 incremental backup with same script daily too.
Do you have any other RMAN script ?
ANS: no, I will modify same script for incremental.
after local copy of backup all backup files (RMAN) will be copy over network to backup server or we can install LTO tape device to copy directly from database server.
kindly advise me I am new in RMAN.
regards;

If I add another profile, will that person's content automatically be saved to my Time Machine hard drive or do I need to take further action to ensure that this content is saved? Thanks for any and all help with this.
Dave N.
Holliston, MATime Machine creates a back up of the entire Hard Drive, with the exception of Boot Camp or exceptions you have created. So in other words after you create the profile run Time Machine, and a backup of the other user profile will be added to your Time Machine backups.

I want to be format my hard disk, but want to take a backup copy of information from the Firefox and passwords and book marks so retrieved after format
Thank youFor backing up bookmarks, see [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]]
If you want to back up passwords, you need to use an extension such as Password Exporter. This is located at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848/ . -
RS&R Process - To take the Stock in SAP
Hi SAP Gurus,
How to handle the Repair Service & Recondition (RS&R) material in SAP. For Example we are procuring PAC Compressor / SMPS Module / Controller (Which can be repaired and use again). First time we are showing the consumption with original value.
After repair & recondition How to take the stock in SAP & How to show the consumption with Rs.1 or 0 Value. So that we can track those items in SAP wothout affecting the moving average price.Hi,
Generally, Repair of Materials are handled via concept of Gate Pass (Returnable & Non-Returnable). But, SAP doesn't provide any option for creating Gate Pass (Returnable & Non-Returnable) in standard.
Try the below suggested procedure as a work around process;
Repair Process (Reconditioning) via Returnable Gate Pass: -
1. MM01 - Create Material Master for every Spare Part / Machinery to be sent to Vendor for Repair (Reconditioning) as Non-Valuated (Material Type "UNBW") (Do not extend Accounting and Costing views since you don't require postings of Stock value and consumption values, you only want to track the Service/Repair Charges)
It's not necessary to have materials as Non-Valuated always, it depends on your requirement.
2. MIGO - Goods Receipt > Others (Receive the quantities of these materials using Movement Type 501 / 511) - Only if Stock of Material is not available.
3. ME21N - Create Subcontracting PO (Here Main Material and Component will be same material)
4. MB1B - Transfer Posting w.r.t. Subcon PO (Mvmt Type - 541, Spare Part stock will get posted to Vendor Stock)
5. MB90 - Take Print out of this Material Doc as Returnable Gate Pass (U need to configure Message Determination of Inventory Mgmt)
6. MIGO - GR against Subcon PO (101 - Receive Spare Part, 543 O - Consumption of Spare Part form Vendor Stock)
7. MIRO - LIV for Service Charges w.r.t. Subcon PO
8. MIGO - Goods Issue > Others (Do GI of Subcontracted Material using Movement Type 502 or 512) -

Do I need to take a form of purchase when I see a 'genius'?
I'm going to see a genius tomorrow about my iPhone 4, and am wondering whether I need to take a form of purchase for it?
I cannot vividly remember it coming with a receipt, seeing as it was just the box it came in... I ordered it directly from Apple. Should I also of received one?
ThanksSorry for all the questions...
Thanks for your answers though!
One more; if I go up there, with a printed off order details of the phone, how do they have proof that it is under warranty? Is this because of how new the device is?
And I maybe pushing it, but does a backup save photos and 'notes' and sound recordings?
Thank you so much for your answers -
How to take a backup manually in oracle 11g express edition?
how to take a backup manually in oracle 11g express edition? i want to take backup of a database and want to restore later on on a different computer .
Stop database, and copy all files to another machine.That sounds to me to be the closest answer to the question posted. And perhaps the easiest solution.
Install XE on the "another machine", shut it down. Shutdown the source database. Copy the datafiles to the new host. Startup your "new" database, it will be an exact clone of the original.
To find out what files need to be copied, as system (or sysdba) run:
select name from v$datafile;
... file1, file2 ...
show parameter control
... control_files ... file1 ...
alter database backup controlfile to trace [reset logs];
show parameter diag;
... diagnostic_dest ... <drive:>|/diag_pathTo do a proper database clone its better to recreate the controlfile and reset the archive sequence number- leave out the controlfile copy part. In the diag_path location find the trace file under diag/rdbms/$ORACLE_SID/<db_name>/trace it should be the latest ora*.trc file.
The trace file has the commands to recreate the controlfile, which includes the datafiles and putting the tempfile back in place. If the datafiles are in a different location, i.e. in Windows going to a different drive, or you want do put datafiles in a different folder location, the create controlfile statement is the easiest time to get the file directories right.
If you add the "reset logs" qualifier (don't use the brackets!) you'll get just the reset logs version of the create controlfile statement, otherwise you'll get both NORESETLOGS and RESETLOGS versions of a create controlfile statement, run one or the other. Not both. Not the entire trace file, just the create controlfile, alter database open [reset logs], alter tablespace temp add tempfile ... bits. No recovery is needed for a database that is shutdown when datafiles get copied to a new location/host.
