After repairing our Windows XP from a viral attack, many files were encrypted, and lost, and also Illustrator CS5 would no longer print from the program, receive a "Cannot Print Illustration" indicator, and the help screen is completely unpopulated, as well as the symbols libraries. Is it going to be necessary to uninstall and reinstall and what are the pros and cons of doing that?

You could try resetting the preferences, if you haven't already (see below). But from the sound of it, I doubt that will solve your problems.
If that doesn't work, then, Yes. I think uninstalling is your best bet. I would suggest the full three-step method:
1) Deactivate and Uninstall
2) Run the CLEANER TOOL
3) Reinstall

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to 'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)

Photoshop CS5 Extended suddenly stopped recognizing my NVIDIA 3D card (NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M). No 3D graphics will work in Photoshop. An Adobe online tech worked with me on it for about an hour. We concluded that I would go try to update the NVIDIA driver. The NVIDIA website is frustrating. The boxes to input my card model and system do not work.
Nawang uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop (my question below was about how to do that, but he did it for me and that did not help.)
My card is 3D capable. I used Repousse 3D effect two days ago and it worked fine. Now it is not working, all 3D controls are grayed out.

The Firefox uninstaller asks you to close Google Chrome?? That's strange. I assume you have closed ALL browser windows when that happens.
I should ask: why do you need to uninstall and reinstall Firefox? This usually doesn't fix problems with Firefox. Maybe check out this article: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].

After a failed attempt, I realized the location was set to the default hard drive of C:, so I tried again by changing the location to my external hard drive. Now I get an error message that says:

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Since having a virus on my laptop I am unable to access my itunes. It is asking that I uninstall and reinstall. I am worried that as I cannot find my music already in the itunes library that if i do this reinstalling then connect my ipod that I will loose all the music on there already. I am not necessarily worried about it not being in the library. ANy ideas.

When I try to open Photoshop CS6 I get error 1: Please uninstall and reinstall the product. When I go to uninstall I get this message: "The alias “Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS6” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." I don't know how or why the uninstaller would have been moved or deleted, but it appears to be gone. How do I uninstall without the uninstaller?

I had to reinstall Windows XP. Now I'm having to uninstall and reinstall other programs on my computer. ITunes, it appears to be one of them. I thought I uninstalled and reinstalled correctly but apparently haven't because I still get an error message telling me that CD Covers won't be grabbed correctly. I don't want to lose all my songs also, I guess I won't as long as they are on my IPOD. I'm very new to my IPod and my ITunes so please forgive what I am sure is a very silly question.

When you uninstall iTunes, uninstall Quicktime as well, turn off or disable any antivirus/security software then download/reinstall see if that helps. Uninstalling iTunes will not delet any songs or settings you have in iTunes

I have been fighting with iTunes for the past few days. My wife deleted a file by "accident" and I have been working to get iTunes to work ever since. Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?
