Need to update Pages

ARGGGGGHHHHHHHH. I have just downloaded yosemite and the new versions of pages etc that comes with it. I am now unable to open half of my files from iCloud. It seems that files that were last saved on work 09 (i.e. the really good old system) open fine, but anything that was last saved using the less than perfect recent version (4 etc) won't. I instead get a message telling em that i do not have the most up to date version despite my downloading it 30 seconds ago. Please help!

If you happen to have left Pages ’09 running without any open document, and attempt to open any Pages v5 document, you will get that message that you need to download a newer version of Pages. In a nutshell, it is simply telling you that Pages ’09 cannot open a Pages v5 or later document.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Updated pages today but when I try to open a document I created I get a message saying you need new version, but i have the new version! So frustrating - HELP!

Updated Pages today - created a document. Went back few hours later to send it as email attachment - got a message saying Pages needs to be updated to open. Went to Mac app page and it said it was updated. Document won't open - what do I do???? Keeps saying to upgrade but it is upgraded - ARGH!

Here is a possible solution.
You should still have Pages 4.3, the old version, on your computer in Applications>iWork09. If you have the old Pages 4.3 running when you open the file, Pages 4.3 will warn you that you need to update because the new Pages uses a different file format. You can open the file in two ways.
Quit Pages 4.3, then open the file.
Right-click the file and choose to open the file in Pages 5.0.

Download iTunes using the tab at the top of this page. Then run the update with iTunes closed.

My updates say pages is updated, but the documents say i need to update to a new version

I need to update from pages v4.3 to v5.1

i created a very important document in pages, i created it on iPhone 5swith pages for ios7. im not able to open in mav 10.9.1
OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) to be exact
it says on my mbp that i need to install latest pages software.
BUT... in app store it says its installed
in the about for my pages on my mbp it says version 4.3 so not true.
it says i can download

again though???
now it got deleted !!!! i guess from trying to open with pages v4.3 on this mbp? kinda bad, but thankfully i did a workaround to save it elsewhere, < I don't like going backwards much >
also i suppose that i will need to update numbers from v2.3 to v3.1 latest
i just spent a bunch to upgrade my ssd to 500gb and my ram to 8gb so that all this would jive because thats what these sneaky updates do now.
im not real impressed with these MS tactics by apple. justifiably ******.

okay after reading abit more i realized that i was clicking the OLD grey cup & saucer icon on my dock.
so i went into finder then found the NEW yellow note & pen icon.

I consistently receive notices on certain webpages (LA Times, NY Times) that I need to update my web browser to see the entire website. However, I have updated my software multiple times recently as a result of the messages. I have Mac OSX 10.6.8 currently. Can someone provide any guidance?

that version is (or not) able to run the latest browsers available now...

in a link other than the download one.
See if the Adobe Flash Player help pages can identify whatever Flash may
be installed already; and before installing another, usually the older one
has to be removed. Adobe has an uninstaller for that. See there are two
links into Adobe Help for Flash player. The second one goes further to
try & find an archived alternative to the latest Flash player, if needed.

PS: was the notice to upgrade browser, a pop-up window over the web page you
were looking at? Could be some adware, or other malware item is in your Mac.
I do not see those kinds of prompts to upgrade anything in my Mac, and
mine run an OS X older than your Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Visiting the same sites.

Auto updated to 18.0.1 but startup page says need to update so does facebook?

We have been using firefox forever and have the autoupdate enabled so help about shows we have 18.0.1 but recently facebook started showing a notice that we need to update on startup today got a page that says the same thing. Is the browser sending a different version number than the current update? or?
