Need to us CS2, but not supported on OS 10.8

I can't afford to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite whatever and all I have CS2 on my computer. Just upgraded to 10.8, and apparently CS2 is not supported on 10.8. Is there anything I can do?

You got caught up in the minor miracle of what Apple calls Rosetta!  Adobe CS2 was written back in the days when Macs used PowerPC CPUs.  Apple decided to migrate all of their Macs to Intel CPUs in 2006, but did not want to make its existing user base have to purchase immediate software upgrades.
So they licensed technology which they implemented in OS X Tiger (and later Leopard and later still, optionally, in Snow Leopard) as Rosetta.  This emulation software was so transparent that many users had no idea they were using it!
It was not until these users upgraded to Lion and/or Mt. Lion that they discovered that these flavors of OS X no longer include Rosetta (due, BTW, to Apple's expiration of its license to use the underlying technology from the release of OS X Lion and onward).
Rather than recriminate you for something you had little or no reason to expect, how about we find you a solution?
Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels in Mt. Lion and continue to use your Adobe CS2:

Note: Adobe now allows CS2 to be downloaded
[although I now note that Adobe has changed their download website to indicate that these products should now only be downloaded by existing customers.  This limitation on the use of this serial number did not exist when I downloaded the copies that I use]

Hello,I need help.ipad 3 does not support flash media player.which player must I download instead of flash media player?

Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

  • Why can't I watch news video on ipad2? Says I need adobe and that is not supported on this device

I subscribe to several news feeds and cannot watch the videos they post (fb). On the site I am tol I need adobe but my device does not support it. Why doesn't it and what can I do?

Actually it is not Adobe refusing to build an ios version of Flash, it is Apple who has refused to work closely with Adobe to allow them to create a very efficient version.
In Steve Job's own words he says "WE do not allow Flash on IOS..."
Blackberry, who has been working with Adobe, and allowing them access to the resources they need in order to create a very efficient Flash player has done so with incredible success. Even the Register points out how insanely well the Flash player and Air enviroment runs on the playbook, and during their tests found zero effect on battery compared to using any other software on the device, which gets about 13 hours in battery life.
Google, has also allowed Adobe access to the resources required to make an efficient player and have done so with incredible success, Android 3.1 and Flash 10.3 incorporated Hardware acceleration, the ability for flash to perform operations on the gpu, requiring far less energy. Many reports coming out have found the same situaton as they did with the blackberry, meaning Flash, when allowed access to the proper resources can be less resource intensive and less of a battery drain than any other software on the device.
Windows, has been working with adobe and allowing them access to these resources for years, and you can see the difference in performance on a windows machine vs a mac.
If Apple does not want to work with Adobe to allow the Flash runtime to perform up to its potential on their devices then that is fine. But understand it is Apple that is crippling the flash runtime and causing it to perform task in ways it is not designed to, and thus requiring more resources, and battery.
Last year, when Steve Jobs released his open letter, I was up in the air about it. But now after seeing company after company manage to get the Flash runtime working and being super efficicient, I have no choice but to think that the only company having issues with it (Apple) must be doing so via thier own choice, and not due to the fault of adobe, or the efficiency of the platform.

  • Safari my favorite, but not supported at my frequent sites

    Hi all,
I have both Safari and Firefox. I have found that Safari is not supported at certain sites that I frequent, so I have been trying for about two weeks to switch to Firefox. But I like Safari better. I like how my bookmarks are organized better, I like how I can look back in my History on a certain day, just lots of things better in Safari.
Is there a way to make Firefox do some things differently, more like Safari? I tried to use the "user agent" under Develop in Safari, to pose as Firefox, but it won't stay on that selection. When I click to the next page, it goes back to "default".
    Any comments, suggestions appreciated.

While it certainly appears possible to lock in Firefox as the default User Agent for Safari, it would require editing at least one file, which, if you don't know what you're doing, could disable your ability to use Safari at all.

  • Website use Java but not support Microsoft JVM

This website (www.esdlife.com.hk) only support Microsoft JVM but not Sun JAVA JVM, I can't logon into their service pages until I disable my Sun JVM or unless I use another computer it has Microsoft JVM installed. Those pages even don't let me use other web browser like Netscape except Internet Explorer. I am an amateur Java programmer and I have been studying Java for three years. I don't know if this is an issue to the future of Java Technology. This website supported by the Hong Kong government I believe. Could anyone response my question?
    Thanks in advance!

What has probably happened is that the site you are talking about wrote thier page with Microsoft Java, which isn't really Java. They probably used some class, or number of classes, that is specific to the Microsoft VM. This is not a problem with Java, it is a problem with Microsoft makeing their Java uncompatible with Java.

  • Upgrade MATSHITA UJ-845A, but not supported???

Hi. I recently installed MATSHITA UJ-845A though,
my laptop says "Disc burning is not supported"
would you kindly help me out?
Powerbook G4 Titanium 667MHz Combo Drive   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Optical drives can be sensitive to:
    1. Media improperly stored. Use only jewel case stored media and not spindle. Some spindles can cause the bottom of various disks to scratch against the top of the ones beneath them.
    2. Media that is written on or labeled. Use the jewelcase inserts to make sure you know what the disk has, and only take out one at a time.
    3. Media burnt at the maximum speed of the drive. Use the next fastest speed to the top if available for that media.
    4. For CDs, I recommend Verbatim, Imation, Kodak, and Sony. For DVDs I recommend you check http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia for the best rated media.
    5. Use Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info -> Disc Burning to find out which media are supported for writing. Dual Layer if not specified as DL in that section is not supported. And + and - media are not supported uniformly across all burners.
Look at this article for uncommon media formats:

  • New MackBook Pro and now I got an iPad 2. I had an iTunes acc opened on another Mac that had not used it in a long time. Now I need to get APPS but not permitted on this Mac (authorization to write on iTunes Media ?)

Need assitance to obtain permission to download APPS for my iPad through my MacBook Pro that for some reason iTunes is not allowing to do, I get message like "this computer doesn't have authorization to write on ITunes Media.
I have had the iTunes account for a long time but hardly used, never on this computer (new).

If you have been using the mac.com Apple ID to make iTunes purchases recently, then there should be no issues continuing to use it with the new iPhone. I would abandon the new ID as you will never get Apple to merge the two IDs. I have had a mac.com ID for years and continue to use it with my iPhone 4S.
Tell us the issues that you encounter trying to set up the iPhone with the mac.com account.

  • Need to upgrade OS, but not enough space on HD

I just exported a ton of photos to an external hard drive, thinking that was the bulk of my files taking up space on my hard drive.  I need to upgrade to OS 10.6.3 (I have 10.5.8 right now), but when I try and install, it says there's not enough space.
When I click on my hard drive, it says that there's a capacity of 74.21 GB with an available space of 3.28 GB.  How do I find out what files or applications are taking up the most space?  What are the most likely offenders?  I really thought cleaning up photos was going to fix the issue, but it didn't go up in free space at all!
    Thank you for your help!

Download and use OmniDiskSweeper. It will tell you the files and folders that are using the most space.
With only 3 GB of free space, your system is severely short of free space. Your free space should be at least 10 GB.
Once you increase your free space and before you do any upgrade be sure to repair your disk. With the free space run so low there is every chances that the disk is now corrupt. Doing an upgrade with a corrupt disk is a sure way to have problems after the upgrade.
Also it is necessary to backup before you do the upgrade.

  • Embedding image in PDF works fine in CS2 but not CS3

When we create a PDF from CS3 with the images embedded and then open it on a CS2 machine it warns us about the fact that the file was created in a newer version of illustrator and then opens the file.
When we try and open the file on a CS3 machine it tried to relink the files and will not display the embedded images (they must be there as they are there when opening it in CS2)
Is there anything we can do to sort this?
    Thanks
    Danny Seager

I don't have AI 13 (CS3), so I can only take a guess at this.
    >If we open that file in illustrator CS2 then we get a warning about the file being created in a later version but it opens fine and keeps the images embedded. - this works fine.
AI 12 (CS2) opens the AI 13 file because it was saved as a PDF. Saving as a PDF always embeds images because PDF was intended primarily as a READ ONLY document format. You don't have to have the original fonts and linked images -- they're all there in the PDF.
Try saving your AI 13 file as a native .ai
without PDF compatibility. What happens when you try to open that in AI 12?
I'm going to guess you saved your PDF out of AI 13 with Illustrator editing capabilities intact. That's of no use (or potentially troublesome) to AI 12, so it just uses the PDF portion of the file. AI 13, on the other hand, sees the editable AI portion of the file and elects to use that instead. (It assumes that because you saved with AI editing compatiblity, you'll want to avail yourself of those capabilities.) That means you'll have to have on your system all the original linked images, fonts, etc.
    Does that make sense?
Try saving out your PDF without the AI editing option. What happens when you try to re-open that in AI 13?
Why are you saving to PDF if your intent is to re-open the files in AI?

  • Need help! CS2 will not open anymore.

I had just installed Snow Leapord on my MacBook Pro and I am trying to open Ai2 on my desktop or any of my applications will not open. This is the error message I get "You can't open the application "Adobe Illustrator CS2" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". Any suggestions?N

It means what it says. It doesn't work on intel-based Macs.

  • Updating RE: License Agreement needs to be accepted, but not an admin

    Hi all,
I deploy the Java RE to a number of Windows XP clients via wpkg (http://wpkg.org/Java#JRE_without_Java_Quick_Starter_on_32-bit_hosts) because an Java Web Start application named EGVP [1] should be used on the clients. The author of this application says that it has to be installed (i. e. started once) with administrative privileges, what I've done (manually) and all works fine.
A problem occurs when wpkg updates the Java RE (e. g. from 1.6.19 to 1.6.20 this week): If the "normal" user without admin privileges starts its EGVP application after the update is performed, he/she is asked to accept the license agreement from Sun/Oracle for the Java RE. If you click on "Yes" there, an error message says that it needs administrative rights to save the changes?!
As a quick&dirty workaround, I changed the folder security permissions for \Program Files\Java\jre6 so that the user group has full access to it, this solves the problem temporarily, but is not a real solution, I guess ;-) Furthermore, the next Java RE update via wpkg removes and re-creates the folder by uninstalling the old and installing the new Java version, so that my permissions are lost then (thankfully, it should not be a permanent condition).
So my question is: Has any of you a similar problem or any idea how to solve this? I could try to set the folder permissions after an update via wpkg, too, but I don't think that's a good idea.
I hope that any of you has an idea how to deal with this!
    Thanks in advance,
    -Phil

  • I need a warranty extention but not can't in Peru

    Hello everyone.
I bought my ipod in US but i live in Peru, so now i have 2 weeks for my one year warranty to expire and my ipod is havng some troubles. I have already gone to iStore, which is a authorized reseller to have it check for me. However, now I want to buy the extended warranty but found that i can't because Peru is not listed in the countries given. I really want to buy the extention, because it could be possible that it needs to be repaired after the warranty expires. Can I use an US adress to access the warranty or I just can't because they don't have it listed? Other possible solutions?

    Hello Allan,
Thank you very much for responding to my question and for the link to the battery. I just got done ordering the battery by using the link you gave me. I figured I did not have to buy one from Austria.
I actually had an easier time finding a new hard drive and how to replace it in my notebook then finding a battery for it. That is no exaggeration either. Thank you so much for the help.
    Take care,
    James
