Need tutorial on how to produce video
I can't find this anywhere. I need to find a tutorial of some kind that will teach me how to produce video using still images and vector art among other non-video things.
It needs to be from the ground up as I've really only been poking around in it (and Premiere and Soundbooth) for about a week.

Man, I was hoping you wouldn't say CIB. I have the Flash one and while it's a little informative, I can't say I'm impressed with it. However, it may give me the foundation I'm looking for here.
I'm already fairly well versed in Illy; will just need to learn how to take that knowledge and apply it to video resolutions (this aspect ratio thing of 0.9 and 1.2 has got me spinning when I can't figure out how to properly view a finished product as it will be seen on something other than a computer screen).
Six weeks may be a bit too long. What I need first is basically something a tad better than a decent Powerpoint presentation for DV. I don't need to produce something right off the bat that we'll use for TV commercials; I just need to show the higher-ups that the money they invested in this software (that we were on schedule to buy last September instead purchased last month) was worth it.
I have no doubt that experience is a major factor here. But I'm barely treading water here. If I don't find a surfboard soon, I'll drown. However, based on what's been done for us by "professionals" in the past, the bar isn't set very high for me.
I haven't bothered with any of the GTA games. They don't make that for PCs, do they? I'm not a gaming console guy.
Dropping stuff in the project window I have down no problem; it's knowing what needs to be done beforehand to the files I'll drop there and how to accurately preview them that's raising my blood pressure.
Knowing I won't knock anything out of the park any time soon, I've started small: a 2.5 second "signature" to be placed at the end of a commercial or segment. Black screen, PS-treated background element with a minor scaling effect, and logo with a short wave file. I thought I had that relatively simple thing figured out, but I can't seem to find a way to view it as it would appear on a widescreen TV. It's just stretched and I can't tell if it just looks like that on my computer screen because of how that displays aspect ratio and it will look fine on our widescreens in the stores or not.
If I can figure out that 2.5 spot, I may just have a chance at figuring out how to create the rest of it.

But, I want to do this sort of thing in Illustrator. Most of the tutorial I can figure out how to do in Illustrator without a problem, but not step 10. Can anyone point me to similar tutorials using Illustrator instead of Corel? I'm wanting to create the appearance of an old-fashioned or medieval sign board, like the type of wooden sign you would see hanging outside of a craftsman's shop.The step-by-step you are looking at is poorly written. All mainstream drawing programs have a set of basic features that can combine paths in different ways. Draw calls them Shaping, Illustrator calls them Pathfinders, FreeHand calls them Combine Operations. They all do pretty much the same things, but with some program-specific behavior differences.
The Corel tutorial mentions Trim. (But frankly, the results shown suggest it used Draw's Arrange>Combine command.) Regardless, the operation in step 10 involves making a copy of one path, and using it to "punch" the original like a cookie cutter. Again, this is a very basic vector drawing feature, but is called different things in different programs. Draw calls it Trim (according to the tutorial) or Back Minus Front; Illustrator, in its typically inelegant fashion calls it Subtract From Shape Area; FreeHand calls it Punch.
Note that some of Illustrator's Pathfinders (among them, the one being discussed) optionally result in the operation being applied as a "live effect." The operation is rendered on the screen, but the whole original paths are acutally still there. You "nail down" the "live effect" by "expanding" it.

I need a COMPLETE tutorial on how to make a smart playlist with 'conditions'
Ok, I have read discussions in the Support Communities, looked on iTunes Help and I think my brain is going to explode. I need a simple (for dummies) tutorial on how to create a smart playlist with 'conditions' and Live Updating. For example: instead of going through my Library music list and unchecking all my Christmas music and all my Comedy stuff so it won't play year round and at innapropriate times and having to skip them manually when playing on my ipod touch or my iphone4 in my car or through headphones or home sharing and using my AppleTV.
Also, if my comedy is individually all unchecked (in my iTunes Library), and I have a regular playlist in my ipod and one in my iphone (titled Comedy), when I go to the playlist list in my ipod or phone (when not connected to my Mac), and select shuffle: will that playlist play all the way through even though they are all unchecked?
AND, if I have 'sync only checked songs and video' box UNCHECKED in my summary page for a device what exactly does that do? Or more precisely, WHY would I want or not want that box to be checked?
I really hope someone can help me as I am a complete idiot when it comes to understanding long explanations.katinak67 wrote:

If the box is unchecked, it won't do anything. It will sync everything.
If it is checked, songs that are unchecked will nto get sync'd to the iPod.

Select all the Christmas stuff, right click - get info.
Set the sure the Genre is Christmas.
Go to the Info tab and set Skip when Shuffling to Yes.
Do the same for Comedy.
Create a new smart playlist (named My Music or something similar).
Match all rules;
Genre is not Christmas.
Genre is not Comedy.
Play this playlist on the iPod/iTunes to listen to everything except Christmas & Comedy.
Or if you have Shuffle turned on, just listen to anything and Christmas & Comedy will get skipped.

It depends.
In iTunes, unchecked items will get skipped.
If unchecekd items get sync'd to the iPod (you do NOT have Sync only cheked items ticked), they will play unless you have them set to Skip when shuffling. -
Hi, just need to know how to get my music, video, pictures and apps form my iPhone to my new laptop as the old computer, which I used before was stolen. I only have my phone left and if I try to conect it to my new laptop it's trying to delete everything.
I have also noticed all my settings won't stay set, example....I removed the check mark from "third party cookies", the when I close Firefox and reopen the check mark is back, also my tool bar has screwed up....can't reset, been having trouble the up grade.

Copy the files to the Mac and then drag them to the iPhoto window, or use the File -> Add to Library command
As for how to connect the phone and the Mac, for that you'll need to read the manual for the phone or seek support from a Samsung or Android (that's the operating system) site. -

I am using a code based typesetting program (not WYSISYG) that outputs PDFs. I am producing 100 plus pages that have multiple graphics on each page. I need to know how to format a PDF command that I can incllude in my programming that will tag my graphics with "Alternative Text".
I know that with a Microsoft product graphics can be tagged before a PDF is made. I need to know how to do this with my programming.The Acrobat SDK might be a starting point.
From there, perhaps a plug-in (built with C+).
Perhaps with a licensed release of a PDF Library (this could be $$).
The viable and cost effective alternative is use the tried and true.
Authoring in an appropriate authoring application with appropriate tag management.
Example: Adobe InDesign; Adobe FrameMaker or MS Word with PDFMaker (comes with install of Acrobat).
This way you place "Alternative Text" when mastering content in the authoring file.
Going the route and with some look-see (research) you may find programmatic approaches to placing the alt txt in the authoring file.
Note: as discussed in the Matterhorn Protocols there is no programmatic method that provides a fully accessible PDF (specifically, that is an ISO 14289-1, PDF/UA-1 compliant PDF).
Regardless, here you have a sub-forum for discussions on Acrobat usage.
Consequently discussions on/of 3rd party software is rather out of scope eh.

Hi everyone,
my laptop does not recognize my iPhone 3GS as a camera device anymore.
I need to import my photos and videos and don't know how.
The iPhone does charge when I plus it in the USB hub but it does not ask me to import the photos anymore
and it also doesn't show it as a device when I click on the "computer" button where an SD card or an Usb stick would normally be displayed..
