Need uninstaller which works on Vista
Hi, I've recieved the security alerts to upgrade and your site says to first uninstall old java.
I have Windows hom premium Vista and the unintall does not say works with Vista.
Can someone please tell me how to uninstall the old java? I need the uninstal program.

Yes, there is an uninstall in vista which am aware of (and thank you for letting me know it removes the console as well, however, Sun says to use the Java uninstaller, and then if that doesn't remove all of Java to download a windows uninstaller to further remove from registry.
I desire to do it the proper way as don't want stuff left unproperly and the proper way is to the use the products uninstaller.
Wouldn't this site know if they have or don't have an uninstall that works for Vista?
This is apparently a critical update needed to be done (remove old - install new), and on Sun's own forums (two separate threads now) no one appears to know if there is one which works for Vista.
Appreciate knowing first if there is or is not an uninstaller works on Vista before using the uninstall on windows as is not the proper way to uninstall.
Thanks in advance for finding out if this site has an uninstaller which works for Vista. This is a timely matter as well as is a serious vulnerability until updated.
If there is none, just let me know please and as soon as possible.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If after reboot that doesn't help...
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens. -
Hello, I've installed Lion but now it says I can't use the Cloud as I need the Apple ID Password to use Back to My Mac. I've obtained several new Apple ID passwords which work ok on my phone but doesn't seem to be the password it's looking for.Does anyone know what's needed please ??

Need software which can send images to my editor, have them make selections, share them with me so I can edit the images and send the final results back to them. Will Lightroom work?
What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7. Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of. In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.

Need help getting PSE5 working on Vista 64-bit
I've read in the Forums that it will work if I download the 5.0.2 update, but when I try to do the download, I get an error message saying it will not work with my version. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

I have PSE 5.0.2 working under Vista 64.
Perhaps you could clarify your statements and add some missing details?
You said "when I try to do the download" you get an error message. Do you mean "when I try to install"?
Have you previously installed PSE5 on this computer, and you are trying to update to 5.0.2?
Could you give us the exact error message, and let us know exactly what is happening when the error message appears? -

First of all you have to check if there is an special BIOS for Vista.
As far as I know some A200 series needs BIOS which was released especially for Vista OS.
I think the notebook needs Realtek sound driver.
Therefore in control panel you should see the Realtek HD audio manager.
Go there and you will see the mic and headphone jack on the right.
Click right there and check if there are some settings which have to be enabled. -
Can't get coldfusion to work on Vista Ultimate

I'll look at so many places to try and get coldfusion 7 or 8
to work with IIS or Apache on Windows Vista Ultimate which came
pre-loaded with the new laptop.
It just gives me a 404 error complaining about the MIME
types.
I saw one forum that I need to edit the wcnfiguration.config
files (some name similar to that) in the system 32 interdel folder,
but I get an access denied error when trying to edit in
notepad....even though I am logged in as the administrator.
The index page for coldfusion works afte the install as well
as IIS 7.0 is working fine, but when trying to execute a .cfm fikle
it just gives that 404 error and doesn't seem to recognise the .cfm
file. I tried adding the CFM in MIME types in IIS admin and
selected coldfusion/application but it didn't work. I then changed
the CFM descrip to text/html (something like that) and it then
launched the cfm file and showed the html part of it, but didn't
process the coldfusion. It may be a simple MIME configuiration
problem in IIS, but I don't know what types should be there and
what the type descriptions need to be.
If anyone can help me with this, I really need the help to
get this to work with Vista. If you have instructions, can you
really spell it out for me please with as much step by step
instructions as possible please, I want to be sure to do it right.

ColdFusion 8 should work with Vista on IIS 7without any
tweaks.

Getting Zen to work on Vista Bet
OK...after all that it took to figure out how to be able to use my Zen player on Vista Beta 2, I thought I'd try and make the way easier for others.
Vista comes with an app called the "program compatability wizard", which is provided as a work-around for those programs which do not have nati've compatability with Vista. You can find this via the Help and Support window, on the first page. You'll need to use this to install/enable your zen-based player. In the case outlined below, the wizard will not have any down-sides once the software and drivers are installed...it simply seems to help direct the installer on where to install the drivers where locations are different that with XP, as well as to avoid errors via the setup picking up a OS incompatability....once installed software can be opened just like any other program in Vista
Open the compatability wizard and locate the install file (if you are using the original disc, then simply direct it to the disc dri've). Next select the compatability mode for XP. On the following page, you don't need to select any of the options - continue and check the box to run in "administration mode". From there run the install
Personally I would recommend only installing the Zen Explorer and Media Source - the other software is either available in a more updated version (Acrobat), or pre-installed in Vista (WMP). During install I recied one error when installing Media Source - ignore it and keep installing....after rebooting and registering, all works fine - including the explorer which I was doubtful would work in Vista.
As an extra, I would recommend checking on the creative site for any driver or software updates - also run these via the compatability wizard to be safe. The general rule being that the most recent versions of applications seem to work the best in Vista.
For those who want to use their player outside Media Source (or WMP), there is a plugin available for Winamp, which works well for both Vista and XP - it is important to note that not ALL Zen models are nati'vely supported in Winamp, so this can be a handy option.

I previously had the Zen Touch (which I think this replaces), which I had updated to the latest "playsForSure" firmware - which I might add created one hell of a headache!! - but there is no such firmware update available for this model, only the original .00.02 firmware. I had tried to run via USB connection prior to figuring out how to install via the compatability wizard, but Vista was unable to install drivers and was unable to use via WMP without those drivers.

I created a new apple id for my iphone and ipad which work great and allow me to access Icloud. on my macbook air I can't get it to use my new apple id for icloud. It keeps going back to my old apple id and doesn't afford me to alter it. I use system preferences-icloud and it just wants to verify the old apple id but doesn't afford me the opportunity to delete teh account or edit it like the iphone5 and ipad. Help?

I have set up my airprint wifi printer which works perfectly with the HP eprint app. However, when i view an email and click on the top right arrow button and select "PRINT" on my ipad nothing happens????...
Also, when im viewing websites and i find something i wish to print, same again, if i simply click on the print option at the top right of the screen nothing happens... the only way I can print is if i copy the weblink of the site page then click on my HP eprint app and paste the web link, then select print, it prints off fine.. but its it such a pain to keep copying and pasting links or screen dumping emails just to print...Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Vista 64 Treo 600 Sync Solution that should also work for Vista 32
Ok Here is a partial solution for a Treo 600 (Bell) with Vista 64 (along with my Treo 755p TELUS)
I recently purchased an Acer with Vista 64 to replace a XP machine that was having increasing hardware failures. I did not know at the time there was no support for Vista 64 and that Palm had only released a Vista 32 desktop the week before.
I managed to install the Vista 32 bit desktop software on my Vista 64 machine with no error messages but when I tried to install my Treo 755p I found out about the lack of Palm USB Vista 64 drivers
Insert Palm wasting time on Folio instead of Treo driver support rant @#!%!#%^^!#^@^@!%#!!!!!!! (I know it should be longer but most of it has been said before) Ok back to business.
Treo 755p
On the Palm forums I found the instructions for getting a Treo 755p to sync via Bluetooth
I followed the instruction and purchased a Blue Tooth USP key (Oh and I tried the Kensington - Bluetooth 2.0 USB Adapter first...^$%^@@^@^!!!!! before I found the Iogear USB Bluetooth 2.0 Class 1 Wireless Adapter which works fine and is the only one I would recommend) I now have my Treo 755p working with Vista 64 with only one error message (I'll get back to it later)

I was not impressed with the fact that this device had not support at all from Palm for Vista (32 or 64) $#%^!%!^@^@^%@ (ok I feel better)
I found a suggestion from a UK site that mentioned you could sync a Treo 600 via IR and even suggested the correct IR USB unit to buy (SITECOM CN-100)

Unfortunately that particular IR USP reader is only sold in the UK. So I took a chance and ordered a "Cables Unlimited USB IRDA Adapter tem Number: C250-1160 (about $17.00 Cdn). It arrived a few days later and it installed on my Vista 64 machine immediately without requesting any "driver disk" I followed the instruction from Palm on how to set up a USB Sync and tried to sync. The Vista machine identified the Palm and was willing to work but the Palm desktop and active sync was not responding. I reread the IR instructions and it requires you to complete a USB sync first (@!#$!$#%!^%!#%~%!!!!!!!)
So I took a night to think about it. My only solution I could think about was to see if I could fake out the Palm desktop / sync software. I fired up the old XP device and copied the user profile for the Treo 600 and copied it into the correct location on the new Vista 64 machine. I tried IR sync and low and behold it worked. (Oh and an IR Sync takes a very, very long time) After the first sync I received a few errors, my Documents to Go files were in new locations, some calendar and memos were duplicated all were very minor. I manually fixed those errors and then completed IR Sync and the Treo 600 now works with a Vista 64.
Of course this solution only works providing you have access to your old Profile, but I figure if you been using a Treo 600 you probably not a new user. If your completing a totally new install on Vista I would suggest find a XP machine install it on it and complete sync, then copy that profile to the Vista machine.
Treo 755p Back up Error
The one error I received was it was unable to back up this file PmTraceDatabase
The message read: “Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)
-SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN”
I looked for this file in my profile on the old XP machine and was unable to locate it, but I noticed they the Treo 600 didn't have this message when I copied over the entire profile, I tried to do the same with my Treo 755p profile but the error did not go away. So after researching the Palm Forums I found this simple solution

So now that I have spent the last 3 weeks trying to get both of our Palms working with Vista 64 I figure the 64 bit USB drivers should be available any day now.......oh and I'm now hating Vista less......

Itunes not working with Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Itumes 10.6.3 version will not work with Vista Home Premium. I have a 32-bit operating system. I'm not sure what to do next. It appears in trying to update it deleted the old itumes, as I can't find a copy of it when I search the computer.

Checking on things that can cause QuickTime launch errors now.
Have you at any stage installed any Codec Packs, any copies of the programs QT Alternative, QT Lite or Storm Codec, or any media converter programs that can convert files into QuickTime readable formats?
(I'm checking on these things because depending on the versions of the programs/codec-packs, these can install earlier versions of QuickTime componentry on a PC, which can interfere with the running of a higher version of QuickTime.) -

ThanksWhen you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. But check your TV manual to see if it has audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
If you have the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody or Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the Mini DisplayPort rather than the Mini-DVI there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.
