Need ur opinions...

hi everybody....
m a student currently enrolled in 4 yr bachelors degree in computer systems... during my internship i had an opportunity to work on oracel EBS.
i want to continue my learnings in this field...
according to degree requirements we have to take a 6 crdt hrs course of "final year project" which is compulsory in order to achieve our degree ...
this project holds alt of importance during final year....
as m interested in EBS so i want to work on oracle implementation....
we will try to implement 2 or 3 basic modules... my question is
"is this project feasible ???"
i have a vague idea about implementation and i have seen 3rd party companies implementing those modules during my internship...every1 has been telling me that its a very difficult project for students like us to map business logics in oracle....
i just need ur guidance in this regard...
will we be able to implemet these modules in 8 months max ???
or if u kan suggest some other project then ill be very grateful ..... :)
thnks for any kind ov help ....
regards .....

This is a great idea.
1. Focus on 1 module - not 2-3. One will be a handful.
2. Approach the company where you did your internship. They may be interested in exploring a new module. You will get to use their EBS installation (test instances) and they will get a pilot of that module for free.
3. Choose a module that is farily independent and has fewer setups. Do not go for all functionality of the module. I would suggest Purchasing.
4. If the company is NOT interested in a new module, ask for new processes they want to implement in the current module. e.g. If they already use Purchasing, they would like to use the Consignment process or the RFQ process. If they already use Inventory, ask if they would like to do Cycle Couting, Physical Inventory, or BOM.
5. If the company refuses, try some other comapnies that already have EBS. One of them should bite.
6. Be very very creful about the refresh cycle of the test instances. You don't want to find on your viva day that the instance has been refreshed and you can not demo anything to the Instructor.
Good luck
Hope this answers your question

Recheck if the RAM sticks are inserted into the right DIMM-s for dual channel to work
Also disable in BIOS Cool & Quiet and see if this solves the problem
Whats the score in Aquamark 3?
Edit:Have you installed AMD Dual Core Optimizer ?
I guess they are insert right.. my motherboard only have 2 slots so i guess its works that way. how i can check if they are actually working as dual channel?.

  • In need of Opinions....

Hello all, let me preface all of this with this is my first major Java project. And I'm in need of an opinion. First let me describe what I'm trying to accomplish.
I have a web form (over SSL) were a user is going to enter in some information, some of this information is going to be sensitive(SSN ect...) What I'd like to do is take the information entered from the web form and do some processing with it from a Java program(NOT an applet...). I've Googled around and seen some solutions but Imost of these "solutions" are 5 or 6 years old. How would some of you more experienced developers tackle such a problem in a secure fashion?
Any opinions welcome. Sorry if I've left out any pertinent information.
    cheers~
    AgentNF

It's a web form, so you are going to process its contents on the server. In Java? Then that means a servlet. You want it to be secure? Just install SSL on your server.

  • Challenges - Unlocked Blackberry - Need Expert Opinions

    Equipment:
Unlocked, branded BB Verizon Tour 9630 (without wi-fi) running on T-Mobile. BB OS5, App World 3.1.4.25 and BB Identity 5.3.0.13
App World, Gmail, BB Protect Problems:
Unable to download new apps or update existing apps due to either - (1) Token error 50101 (Token Expired Please Log-in) OR (2) Token error 40760 (Can Not Get To New Token Due To Device Off-line State). These errors vary from one to another from session login to another (not being able to fix either one), and screenshot preview images for all apps and images from main app menu have never worked. Email from Gmail is not sent immediately (same day) but sporadically all at once for several days. Sometimes this happens on a hard re-start or regular start up from powering down (turning it off) to charge over night.
    Currently Considering:
Throwing in the towel on this model!!! I am frustrated and tired of trying to "fix, reboot and restart" this unit. Looking at purchasing a used Verizon BOLD 9930 (at least I will have wifi) to unlock and run on T-Mobile.
    Question:
Before I step into another pile of s#!* --- Does it seem feasible to unlock and re-install a fresh factory OS7 install (unbranded to any carrier) on this BOLD to eliminate these kind of issues? Thinking that perhaps I can head off potential conflicts with a factory OS7 install that does'nt have all these Verizon left over code, permissions and features (ie - push to talk that is not supported on T-Mobile)...
Would really like to hear anyone's opinions on this. Thank you.
Great people show thier greatness by the way they treat little people...
    I love my BOLD 9930.........Meooooow!

I do not know about Canada. But in Germany, I can go to some electronic store and hand it in at the service desk together with the invoice from Amazon. The device not neccessarily needs to be purchased at this store...
They have various service centers behind and they can route the device to the corect one for cost estimate and / or repair...

  • Buying a used basic T60 or hi-end R50p? Need some opinions, plz.

    Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a used Thinkpad, but I'm a bit torn between 2 models, so I'd like some opinions
Thinkpad T60 (don't have number yet))
Intel core duo T2500, 1GB memory, 100 GB HD, 512mb Graph. card (Ati mobility radeon X1400), 14.1 inch screen 1024x768
Multiburner DVD dual layer, wireless, bluetooth, battery more than 2h. Official XP.
    = 427 USD
    Thinkpad R50p (1833-BU4)
    Original description: Based on 1833-23U: P M 1.7GHz, 2GB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 15" UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL T2, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), Intel 802.11b wireless, Secure Chip (TCPA), 9 cell Li-Ion battery, No preload
    = 388 USD
So basic it's a "high-end, but slower" versus a "basic, but faster" kind of deal.
I'm just gonna use it as a 2nd machine, mostly for some internet, office, chats, some (older) games.
I'm not sure how much would the "user-experience" of a hi-res screen would compare to a more performant machine?
    Thanks!
    T42p 2373-Q1G (PM765, 2GB, 250 GB HDD, 15" UXGA(1600x1200), 128MB ATI FireGL T2)
    T60p 8741-C4G (T7600 2.33GHz, 3GB, 320GB 7k2 rpm, 15.4" 1680x1050, 256MB ATI FireGL V5250)
    R50p 1833-BU4PM1.7GHz, 2GB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL T2

If you're a fan of high-end LCDs, R50p has a very nice IPS FlexView, and is a very sweet machine overall. With maxed RAM it doesn't feel outdated at all, will fly in most Linux distros and XP, and run 32-bit Vista with no complaints. If the original 1.7 Banias CPU is replaced with 2.0 or 2.1 Dothan (755/765) these babies get quite fast.
The bad news is that these machines are prone to GPU failures that affect the whole ATi-based T4x/R5x generation.
As for your run-of-the-mill T60, if it's going to be nothing more than a backup machine, it's probably a better option than R50p if the price is the same. These are solid performers that don't need any special care to stay in good shape.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    George

  • W520 VS T520...TurboBoost or SpeedStep, need some opinions..

I am trying to buy a laptop and I am stuck between the T520 and W520.. I know the W520 has TurboBoost or SpeedStep issues when running on battery.. I was wondering if the T520 has the same issues?
The T520 seems good but I can only use 8 GIGS of ram and no USB 3... the W520 seems amazing but as I hear people are having issues with the boost and even with it is fixed.. it runs on the maximum regular freq which is 2.3GHz.. with nu turbo boost on battery, any suggestions?

My W520 is "fixed" at 2.2 - neither speedstep nor turboboost work, neither on battery nor mains. The W520 trackpad is terrible (but I guess T520 might be the same). Dont get the 1080p display unless you have an external Colourimeter. I was disapointed that the 2000M Quadra cant manage the frame rates of my 5 year old gaming rig at moder games.
Personally, Althogh I run Eclpise, photosohp, lightroom, oracle, toad and a linux VM, the quad core turned out to be slower than a dual core as its clocked much slower and doesnt utlise many of the cores.  Unless you are doing some hard core rendering, need 16GB ram, or are using multiple VMs, I would consider getting the 2.7 Dual core i7 - I wish I had.

  • Brand New 2007 24'' IMac need some opinions please

    Hi,
I have a 24' I Mac that is a 2007,,,, it was only used for 1 month then put into storage do to a move,,,, I just got it out of storage and set back up again. It only has 1MB of Ram, and I would like to possibly get it upgraded to the 3MB, anyone know how much this would cost, and if it is worth it to do ??? Also what other suggestions for upgrades that can be done to this system to bring it more up to date. This computer is just about brand new. like I said was used for approx 3 weeks and thats it. I read MB or is it GB of Ram is the most this system will take, id this true or can I get more ???
          Thank You
          MWA1024

A 4GB kit will cost you just under $60
see > OWC Apple iMac Memory Upgrades
or > Computer memory upgrades for Apple iMac at Crucial.com
Plus you could/should upgrade to Snow Leopard. Problem is Apple no longer sell Snow Leopard thru the Apple Store, so you will need to call Apple Support and ask for a 10.6 Upgrade DVD.

  • Confused with all the software, need some opinions...

Hi, I am a recent Mac owner who is slowly trying to figure things out (I am bad with computers anyways) My dilemmas are: I was considering purchasing Office for Mac but then I see that there is also VPC so if I purchase VPC and download my Office for Windows on it, then I probably do not need Office for Mac. On the other hand I have read that VPC is pretty slow. The pricing of VPC is also a concern. I have researched few sites with similar programs like VPC that are cheaper and run pretty much like VPC (anyone heard or tryed IEMULATOR? www.iemulator.com, which is $25 , or guestPC www.lismoresystems.com, which is $50). The other thing is that i saw these sites about software that reads PC Cds on Mac (cdeverywhere.com and is about $40), and softarch.com/us/products/dm./html , which is about $60). So my question is if I have one of those virtual pcs or iemultor or whatever pc on my mac then i would not need those other PC reading software, coorrect?
All I need is to be able to exchange my files from my ibook to my pc desktop and viceversa with the easiest and cheapest software i can get. Anyone who has tried one of these mentioned above, I would appreciate your opinion on your experience with it. I like my ibook so far and all I am trying to do is to get the most use out of it.
    Thank you in advance!

All I need is to be able to exchange my files from my
ibook to my pc desktop and viceversa with the easiest
and cheapest software i can get.
The cheapest way (ie free) is to use NeoOffice.
    http://www.neooffice.org/
This is a fully compatible and functional office suite for the Mac, it is also free.
It can open and save Word, PowerPoint and Excel files.
Hi, I am a recent Mac owner who is slowly trying to
figure things out (I am bad with computers anyways)
My dilemmas are: I was considering purchasing Office
    for Mac
This will also do the job as well and will be faster than using any emulated version of Windows.
but then I see that there is also VPC so if
I purchase VPC and download my Office for Windows on
it, then I probably do not need Office for Mac.
You would need to delete Office from your PC though, or purchase an additional licence in which case the Mac version would be better (and cheaper than buying VPC and another Office licence).
    On
the other hand I have read that VPC is pretty slow.
It can be, and the native mac version of Office is faster than running Office on VPC.
The pricing of VPC is also a concern. I have
researched few sites with similar programs like VPC
that are cheaper and run pretty much like VPC (anyone
heard or tryed IEMULATOR? www.iemulator.com, which is
    $25 , or guestPC www.lismoresystems.com, which is
    $50).
Remember these do not include a licence for Windows which would be an additional cost.
The consensus about these products is that they do work, but are slower than VPC.
So my question is if I have one of those
virtual pcs or iemultor or whatever pc on my mac then
i would not need those other PC reading software,
    coorrect?
Macs can read and open compatible PC files without the need for third party software. If you have Mac Office (or NeoOffice) they can both open Office files created on a PC.

  • Need some opinions

I am a bit embarrassed to be making this post. I have spent many hours lurking in these forums over the past few days but it seems the more I search, the more confused I become.
Perhaps if I explain what I wish to do that might help. I have made up my mind that I would like to at least try owning one Macintosh before I kick the bucket, then give the present machine to my grandchildren and great-grandchildren to use. I will not connect the grandkids to the Internet because I want them to use it for homework and not stay in the chat rooms. I have this one loaded down with encyclopedias, dictionaries and also educational programs.
I am now leaning toward the iMac instead of the pro-. I bought my last machine prebuilt but before then, I had always built my own. When I hit 72 things wasn't as simple as they once was -- -- as you youngun's will eventually find out. I am now trying to do the things that my responsibilities have always blocked me from doing in the past -- smile.
I am concerned about having to purchase so much new software and I am a bit concerned about some of the posts on screen sweating. I will use this machine mostly for Internet, but I will be doing some video editing and I have just spent $200 on video editing software for Windows -- -- the prospect of doing that again is not appealing. I am thinking about getting the 24 inch, with two gigs of RAM, 8800 vid card, wireless keyboard and mouse. I love the look of the iMac -- but it's the software and the learning to use it that worries me. Please pardon the length of this post and possibly the vagueness of it. I just want to know whether you think the iMac would be better than the pro for me, plus, do you think I will have that much of a problem switching over.
    Thank you very much
    Nathaniel

    Hello callmeanything,
Im a 75 year old Mac user . . . have been for over twenty years now. I don't know if this post will be much help to you but let me offer my opinion.
I started with computers at work back in 1982 using DOS on an IBM PC. When I got my first Mac a couple of years later it was like a whole new world opened up to me. I had to continue with DOS and later Windows at work but my home life with the Mac was a wholly pleasurable experience in comparison. When OS X came out in 2000 or so it opened another whole new world. And so it goes to the present time. You'll experience the same thing if and when you get your first Mac.
From what you've posted, you may not have to get too much new software because the iMac comes with iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD and iTunes installed and that may be all you need. I do a lot of photo work myself and have only invested in Photoshop Elements which is sufficient for my needs. I also purchased iWork for word processing and spread sheet work. You can find both online at Amazon or somewhere for well under $100 each if you need them. Other than the software that came with the iMac, that's all I use and it is more than sufficient. I don't do movies so I can't help you there. But I can say that since I've upgraded to the 24" iMac a few weeks ago I am delighted with how it handles the AV work I do. The large bright screen is a joy to work with. Plenty of room for photo organizing and editing (I had a 17" iMac before).
If you go for any Mac, may I suggest you get a copy of David Pogue's switching to Mac missing manual book which you can check out here:
    http://www.amazon.com/Switching-Mac-Missing-Manual-Leopard/dp/0596514123/ref=pdbbs_sr2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223670642&sr=8-2
Apple also has something on their website for Windows switchers.
Don't worry about the posts about problems in this forum. This is, after all, a hospital ward of sorts. I've not had any real problems with any of my Macs now or in the past. Get the Apple Care extended warranty for sure and be not only protected for three years but enjoy access to free phone support for all that time. And compared with Windows you can pretty much forget about viruses. I've never had any. The Mac is about as secure a platform as you are likely to find. I haven't bought or installed virus protection because it would only slow down my Mac. Read over the posts on this forum regarding viruses and make your judgements from them but IMHO, just forget about them.
Yes you may get a mild case of the "bends" when you switch but with the Pogue book for help and the great people here in this forum it won't be long before you "smile".
    Best of luck to you,
    Rick

  • Need some opinions and/or direction...

I'm not sure where to post this, if it belongs in another forum, please let me know and I'll gladly repost it.
I want to copy my dvds so that I can take the copies along when I travel rather than the originals. I know of two applications - Mac the Ripper and Popcorn that can do this but which one would work best with my Powerbook? I'd like to copy them onto a single DVD without the menu, extras, etc.
I'm totally a newbie at this so any help is much appreciated!
    I'm running OS 10.3.5 and iDVD 4.0.1.
    Thanks for your help!

If you want to simply copy the main feature of a DVD to a DVD±R/RW then Roxio Popcorn/Toast Titanium 7 will be your best best. MacTheRipper will only rip a DVD to your hard disk so you will need to subsequently compress and burn with other tools.
Now, if you join more than one feature so that you can burn it to a single DVD±R/RW then I would suggest you look at DVD2OneX…

  • I've done my research just need motherboard opinions

I have an HP Pavilion dv2700 laptop. I know that the motherboard  that I should replace is 460716-001 which has an integrated/UMA graphics card but my fear is that even if I do replace the motherboard w/ an nVidia chip, the display driver problems would just come back all over again. So i was wondering if replacing my motherboard with a 460715-001 be better because it has a discrete graphics card thats from Intel?
I just want my laptop to work again for school, i promise not to game or play graphics intensive things on it anymore. What should I go for?
I'm also a huge Netflix instant watcher, does that mean I should need the nVidia graphics card more than the one w/ intel?
tanx a lot for ur time : D

Did you ever sort out whether 460716-001 and 460715-001 are compatible, whether the 460716-001 can be replaced by a 460715-001?
    Thanks!

  • Need some opinions on my problem

well once in a while my screen looks like it shuts off and i can't do anything.. Its really rare. but when i got another 512 of kreton it did it all the time so i rma'd it.. im just wondering if getting a tested brand of ram would help my problem.. or is my psu bad? any feed back is appreciated

    Calculate your needs here:
    http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/
I have two of the Antec SL-400's.
You can probably get by with it, but might want more if you have unlisted hardware or plan to upgrade/expand significantly.
It calculates to be barely adequate for the P4 rig.  The link above says I should have 411 watts.  I don't use it hard, so I'm doing all right, so far.
Many fellers here highly recommend the Enermax 465, 33a@12volts:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=58&manufactory=1400&DEPA=0&sortby=14&order=1
The AMD rig calcs out at 350 watts, so I'm OK.

  • Should I do it? I need your opinions.

I'm getting an iMac (see below) Apple just posted a refurbished model of what I am looking for. Being thirteen years old, should I go ahead and buy it, or should I work for a few more months and get a brand-new iMac. There's no question of putting off my purchase more than a few months, as I'm sick of Windows and don't have any Macs available to me. Please post your opinions!

Either you already "did it," or someone else did.
It's gone, but don't worry, there are plenty more on the way.
I understand that Apple traditionally runs a "Black Friday" sale.
Might be worth holding off for 6 days to see what they offer.
Just a general comment on Apple refurbs -- I notice they have
a 24" white 2.16 GHz C2D listed for $1449. You can buy the
same machine, BRAND NEW, from smalldog.com for $50 more,
and it comes with iLife'08 (plus iLife'06 on the install disks).
The Apple refurb comes with iLife'06 only.
BTW, keep an eye on smalldog.com -- they're an authorized
reseller with excellent service, and they often have refurbs.
...sometimes refurbs are a good deal, sometimes not,

  • Which one Plasma do you recommend? I really need second opinions

I think I have narrowed it down to the
Samsun PN42B450 (Best price, Amazing picture but IR problems and cracking screens and no Glare filter).
Panasonic P42U1 (Excellent picture, a little out of my price range but doable, but darker screen, noted off greens and reds, no Glare filter)
Panasonic P42S1( Excellent Picture, also a little out of my price range but again doable has a Glare filter, but darker screen, noted off greens and reds).
Panasonic has also had cracking screens as well but more have been noted with Samsung.
    Thanks

I think Levittown can have it delivered from Westbury since they are only about 3 maybe 4 miles apart and according to the salesperson I spoke to on the same route.
Not happening. One store cannot sell something from another store's inventory. You'll have to buy it from whatever store has it in stock if you want it or order it from your preferred store and wait for them to deliver it or pick it up when it arrives. Those are the rules.
Not accurate, Lex. Best Buy has recently added the ability to sell inventory out of another location.

  • PBG4 17" Aluminum.  Need some opinions on upgrades!

    Hello,
Been lurking and reading up on posts here. I have an old G4 running 10.6.5 (still working okay-SMART status says it's fine)
The hard drive has about 120gb total and 12gb left and is getting kinda full. I am considering moving all of my pictures to my newer MBP and freeing up some HD space.
    My questions are the following:
Should I go ahead and replace the drive? It's coming up on its last years, and thought I might as well replace it?
Do I have to replace the superdrive as well while I'm in there?
Anything else I should be looking at while I'm in there? (battery, fans, etc.?) What else fails quite often on the PBooks? Do the logic board, and video card in these last a long time? (I've seen the prices and they are EGGPENSIVE!)
Or do I just continue to back it up on my external and roll with it until it dies!?
    I have 2gb ram and it's a 1.67ghz.
I've considered just buying a SSD (500gb) and backing this AND my other MBP to the same external SSD. Just some thoughts. Could someone chime in and help me out?
If I DO go with a new drive, does someone have a link to the most reliable drives? I have read soo much crap on drives I am more confused than when I started! Is it just blind luck to get a good drive or is there a link to drive tests and reliability on the different brand names? I am considering in this order: Seagate, WD, Hitachi, and Samsung. The Samsungs are all over ebay for pretty cheap. Is there a reason why?
Thanks!!!! This forum is the ONLY place to go for good advice. Terrance is a major help and his help is much appreciated!

    I have an old G4 running 10.6.5
10.6 = Snow Leopard. No G4 can run SL. Did you mean 10.5?
Should I go ahead and replace the drive? It's coming up on its last years, and thought I might as well replace it?
Do I have to replace the superdrive as well while I'm in there?
