NEED URGENT HELP! iPod 5th gen not restoring or recovering!

About a week ago I tried to downgrade my iPod Touch 5th generation from either iOS 8.3 or 8.1.3 to iOS 8.1.1 as the update was causing me problems. In the middle of it working, my Wi-Fi dropped and the entire process stopped working. It also caused my iPod to enter recovery mode. Every time I have tried to restore it, update it, or update and restore it, none of it works. The progress bar will start to work but after a few minutes various error messages pop up. I have looked up everything I could online and nothing has worked. I have done various things from changing the hosts files on my Windows computer to updating iTunes and to whatever else but still nothing has worked for fixing the problem to my iPod. I even had friend take my iPod and try it on his computer, as one of the solutions I found was to use a different computer, but not even that has worked. I have been at this for a week and its very frustrating and it would just be simply amazing if someone could help me figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. It would be beyond greatly appreciated as my iPod is very important to me.

Sounds like you hosed up your iPod.. That sometimes happens when using jailbreaking methods to downgrade the IOS.
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.

i have an ipod 5th generation and my charger is playing up (what a suprise)
when i plug my charger into the plug socket and to my ipod my ipod turns on, but it does not say that it is charging and then goes off within 10 minutes this does this over and over again everytime i plus my charger into my ipod 5 i really need help!

If that doesn't work then try a hard reset it doesn't actually reset it but it will fix it hopefully

Hello guys. Today I connected my iPod 5th gen to the charger and I noticed it wasn't charging. This started today. Someone please help me. I appreciate every tip and help I recieve.

Hey Suhey, first inspect the charging port, your looking for foreign debris, lint, dirt etc. anything that could be blocking an electrical connection, if you see something try to carefully remove it. Just be careful not to touch or bend or damage the pins. If you must use a wooden toothpick to remove any foreign debris from the port and inspect the port for visible damage, cracks, missing pieces, etc. If not the issue, then try a different cable. The lighting cables have a history of breaking, shorting out. They will look just fine, but not work. If not the issue with the new cable try a different charging device. If still not working, attempt a reset, press and hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds +/-, then release both buttons. If you can still turn on your iPod go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still not charging connect to your computer and make backups of the stuff you have on your iPod then Restore from Backup last resort, Restore to New. If that doesn't work try letting your iPod drain completely, go dead then attempt to charge. If still not working, contact your Apple store or Apple Genius Bar and have your iPod evaluated. Ipod 5th Gen not recognised on any computer - will charge via usb

Hi,
Does anyone have a fix for my ipod which is not recognised by any computer. Have tried the software reset, putting into disk mode, but no computer will see it as a device. The ipod will however charge by the usb.
I have tried another 5th Gen on the same computer which is recognised everytime.
Cannot use the system restore as the computer does not recognise it..
I need helpppppp!!

You've pretty much exhausted everything so it is time to get it serviced. Is it in warranty?

Just this month, i have notifications on newer version which is ios 7.1. However, i can't update it on my ipod thru wifi and itunes. Error was seen. That sounds like a problem with your internet connection
Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
- Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
- Then try on another computer

Ipod 5th Gen not showing iOS7 update.

I went to upgrade my Son's ipod touch 5th gen, and it would not give me the option to upgrade to ios7. It showed the software running was 6.1.3 and that it was up to date. The model of his ipod is MD720LL/A. Thought all 5th gens got iOS7?

IPod 5th Gen not waking up and battery life effected by iPod 1.2.1 update.

So I've been waiting for an update to the iPod software hoping that enough people have complained enough about the issues the 1.2.1 software update is causing. My particular iPod is a 5th Gen 60 gig. I've been using iPod software version 1.1 for some time now. I've updated my iPod to version 1.2 & 1.2.1 on many different occasions each time having the exact same result and having to take it back to the previous software version.
After updating the iPod a few different things happen. First and most importantly the iPod consistently will not wake up after it goes to sleep. In order for me get it to come back to life I have to hard restart it using the Menu + Center buttons. It can go to sleep after I unplug it from my Mac or even after I pause a song and it will not come back without a Hard Restart.
This probably wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that it resets my ratings and even worse while the iPod is in this state of not waking up the battery drains at a rapid pace as though the iPod is using power even though its completely non responsive.
Also the iPod refuses to play any of the new games downloadable from iTunes. I've downloaded a few games such as Pac-Man etc. When I attempt to access them the iPod freezes and becomes unusable. Its still on and I can see the backlighting as well as feel the HD spinning but becomes completely unresponsive and must be Hard Reset.
So this has basically been my experience with the 1.2.x software updates. I was hoping that Apple would have an update available by now that would squash all of these bugs but they have not and so I'm posting here now in the hopes that both Apple will recognize the issue and maybe some one out there has a temporary fix for the issue.

On my 5th Gen iPod video, to wake it from hibernation, pressing the select button by itself works for me. I had concerns http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4555675#4555675 that something may be wrong because pressing play/pause won't wake it from hibernation.

My ipod touch 5th generation (which I've only had for a little over a week) stopped being able to sync with iTunes and told me that i need to restore it. I tried other options first (making sure firewall was letting itunes through, updateing itunes, updating ipod, turning ipod on and off), but finally i had to restore it thorughitune. Now iTunes keeps getting an unknown error 14 and telling me to retry restore. I've done it 3 times now and it still isn't working. Is there anything i can do? I can't even use my ipod at all now, it keeps telling me to connect to itunes but itunes wont accept it. HALP.

Ipod 5th gen. not working after restore

I've been having problems with my ipod, where, everytime I connect it to my computer, there'll be an error message popping up in itunes and the only option they give me is to restore it. It works perfectly fine, but I couldn't download anything from my computer to my ipod anymore, so I decided to restore it. After restoring it, Itunes came with an error message again and my ipod now asks me to connect to itunes, but it won't connect to itunes so, i'm stuck on the screen that asks me to connect it to itunes. Therefore, restoring my ipod made my problem 100* worse. Please help, thank you!

Multiple iPod Classics are skipping over songs and will not play them. This is a recent issue and these ipods are not new - we have been using them for several years now. The playlist and the Macbook from which the playlist came are also not new. The playlist copies onto the ipod so that i can see it on the device, but after unplugging the ipod and trying to play a song the screen just gets stuck for a few seconds, with the play symbol showing in the toolbar, but then skips to another song until it can find a song it can play.
After some investigating i found that my itunes must not be properly copying the playlist - it shows up on the ipod, but when i view the ipod contents in itunes, that playlist is not there. Upon a second attempt at copying the playlist to one ipod, i found that all files still show up in the song list, some files are now playable, but not all. My husband and I are DJs and one can understand that this is quite a predicament, when all of our ipods suddenly only play certain songs.
Restarting the ipod does not solve issue. Again this is an issue with multiple iPods, so i am thinking that maybe it is an iTunes problem but i don't know where to begin trying to fix it. One thing i did notice was that when i plugged the ipods, iTunes sat in the "verifying iPod" stage for quite a while. I found some past forums that touched on this but it seems to usually be connected to updating the version of iTunes, and i have the most current version (10.6.3). This playlist was made years ago and the files should not be corrupt, at least they have worked fine in the past.

The one year limited warranty ought to see you through "early failures". I have a sneaky suspicion that extended warranties are intented to cover "random failures" before "wear out" failure becomes likely which is why such cover is often limited to 3 years, the period when it is least likely to be needed.
In your case, assuming there is no obvious physical cause that has been overlooked, it would seem to be a random failure in years 2/3. Not common, but they will happen to someone.

IPod 2nd Gen. not restoring

I have got an iPod Touch 2nd generation. I have accidentally disabled it. The screen says 'connect to itunes' but when I connect it to iTunes the iTunes says. 'The device has a passcode. Please unlock the device before continuing. Then I tried again but this time I put it into DFU mode. I tried restoring the iPod but it now says 'the device is not eligible for the requested build'. Please help!

If you do have the latest version of iTunes, this can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new IPSW. 3rd party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue, to resolve please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. IPod 5th gen not recognized even in disk mode

My pre-classic iPod does not show up in iTunes even when in disk mode. I'm trying to restore it. It does show up on the desktop. Any suggestions?

Try a low level reformat of the device's hard drive using Disk Utility. See this article for instructions.

TS1372 Ipod 4th gen: Not restoring in ITunes with the error 3014

Okay so when i restore my ipod its extracts the software just fine but right when its about to finish veryfying with apple an error pops up saying ERROR 3014. I have the current version of ITunes and ive tried restoring it again a couple of times with the same outcome. I dont know what else to do its just stuck in recovery mode now.

I had to view the ipod in my computer, right click, select format. This wipes the ipod, but so does a restore through itunes. When i opened itunes again it said welcome to your new ipod and let me sync again

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
