Need URGENT help!!! RE1000 connectivity issue

Hi and thanks in advance for the help! I purchased a brand new RE1000 andI ran the setup for it.
What I did is the following:
1- Had my PC and the RE1000 near the Wifi router
2- Connected the RE1000 (by cable) to my PC
3- Got a password prompt. Entered "admin" in both username and password
4- Opened browser and logged on to 192.168.1.1
5- Entered the setup site, went straight to the WLAN page
6- Chose the network I wanted, Logged on to it and entered password --> Got a message that the setup went successfully
7- Checked the Wifi connections portal on my PC, and the "Linksys Extender ..." disappeared, which confirms that it worked

Now: Here's the thing:
I rebooted my extended (unplugged and then plugged), just to let things go in effect...and EVERYTIME I open up my Firefox or Explorer and it DIRECTLY takes my to the password prompt and the Linksys setup site again.
Moreover, the it somehow messes up the connection of the router and people sitting right next to the router lose their internet connection, so I have to reboot my router again.
One time, my Windows 7 said something about IP Conflict on 192.168.1.1
I even have a Blackberry  and iPhone, and everytime I go on the internet, they also take me to the Linksys setup page with the password prompt and all.
I'm currently working in a group of people and i REALLY need this extender working, especially without causing other trouble to people.
Could you please help me ASAP? PLZ!!!!!!

It might be with the IP Address conflict there that it disconnects or creates a conflict with your wireless router. I suggest you set the IP Address of the extender to Static. You’ll have to go back to the setup page of the extender and assign its IP Address. Example, IP Address set to 192.168.1.8 because you cannot use 192.168.1.1 since that is the gateway of your wireless router’s network. Use the same subnet mask and the same default gateway. You can power down the range extender after that and the router for 15 seconds. Do check afterwards if the wireless connection status of your computer is connected. You can even ping the IP Address of the range extender to see if it replies and if it does provide replies then the range extender is working fine.
