Need v2.0 firmware for WTR54GS Travel Router

Does anyone have either the latest or original firmware for the travel router WTR54GS V2.0? (Not the WRT54G). Thanks.

The travel routter that you have WTR54GS v2.0 does not have any firmware for this version. The firmware will only be available for the version 1.0
in the Linksys/Cisco website or you can download it from  the following link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WTR54GS/download

    Hi,
Thank you for your quick reply.
My DVD drive is a SD-R6112 I found a frimware update on the page you have given searching on the model of my drive but when executing the exe file it says I don't need the update and program stopped.
On another forum someone said the third party firmware I installed should have changed some calibration data of my drive thats why I can not read any DVD-R anymore and no firmware will fix it anymore.?
I still can read CD's and original DVD's but I can not read DVD-R's anymore which is very annoying.
Do you know if Toshiba technicians could re-calibrate my drive?
Can I buy an intern DVD drive for my model?

  • Need the V20 firmware for N97!!!

Hey Nokia, you announced the latest firmware to be available in october, but we are in the late october now and still no V20 available for N97...I`m very dissapointed on this fact, because I spent a lot of money buying this phone!Maybe you forgot to mention what october...2010,2011 or else???Don`t let us wait so much, pls!!!This phone really needs updating...its look is far different from its performance and I think every N97 user agree with this. Can`t wait for the update! No offence still!

I think it is wrong to count down the days, v20 will come when it comes. Past experience should teach you Nokia may well release it in December. They will do so when THEY are ready and in the mean time they will not confirm or deny anything, that is the way they are.
If i make a commitment to do something next Friday, then realise by Wednesday that I will not be able to, I would contact you and explain why and the estimated delay, basic manners !!! Nokia will not.
But Rant on if it makes you feel better, like it or not, that is all you will achieve. Actually No! you will not feel better untill you get v20. It wont fix the bugs you hoped it would and it starts all over again.
Here is an idea. Get used using your 97 as it is. Dont update to v20 because you will only get frustrated learning ways to overcome the newe flaws in it. Shut this forum down and live happily ever after.

  • I need help with firmware for the MS-8348 [48x16x48x CDRW]

Well, if Yall could help me I'd be happy.
Ive a 900 Athlon with a pcChip mobo, and an MSI MS-8348 48x16x48x cd-RW drive. HD is primary Master, CD-rw secondary master.
I run XP, but there is a large problem. when I try to install anything from CD, it crashes the system about 1/3 of the way through the install. Games like Sim City 3000 or NeverWinter Nights and such can't install.
I was told that it was a firmware problem, and I needed to update it.
How can I update, when i copy the two files included in the download to c:, run it, and it says my drive is not recognized? It told me to run in real DOS mode, but how can I get there in XP?
    Thank you for you help.

  • Help needed to downgrade firmware for E72

Unfortunately, I didn't read through this thread before installing firmware V 051.018 on my E72-2, and now I'm stuck with no vibration nor tone when a new SMS message is received:
    /t5/Software-Updates/Nokia-E72-firmware-v051-018-released/td-p/749976/highlight/false
Does anybody know anything about how to downgrade the firmware back to what it was?
I tried googling it but didn't find anything useful.
    Thanks!

With firmware upgrade you tend to lose settings.. so pl. check your profile customization / personalization menu to confirm whether the settings are as required.. or do you mean there are no options to set !!!!
The firmware downgrade is not possible at user end..(as mentioned by phonehacker..).. but may be (repeat.. MAY BE) possible at Nokia Care  if you realy need that..

Microsoft offered Windows 7 as a free download originally as a Release Candidate. It's perfectly legal.
I found this from microsoft, although it's not for windows 7, others have reported it has worked, see the link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=314060

  • Firmware download for my wireless router

When I down load the new firmware for my WRT100 router the file extension is .bin.  When I open up the firmware upgrade instructions they talk about it being a zip file.  Want to know how I can get my new firm ware and in a format that the wireless router firmware upgrade will recognize.

I think what he downloaded was a zip file, with all those release notes text file and the actual bin file, etc. he may need to extract the actual file to obtain the actual firmware file (.bin file).
castownboy, do you know how to extract a zip file?

  • Solved. Travel router WTR54GS sharing one wireless hotspot connection with multiple devices

Hi, Passing on info I've learned.
The manual for the WTR54GS mentions being able to "...use multiple devices on a single hotspot account in a coffee shop or airport lounge...". See my original posting, "How to set up a wireless private bubble at paid hotspot? WTR54GS?", which ended in a dead end. I subsequently had a Linksys live chat session and the representative provided the solution. Perhaps worthy to be included in the Wireless FAQ?
Situation: you have access to a paid hotspot (hotel room, meeting room, etc.) and you want to share the connection with several devices, also wirelessly.
Solution: the WTR54GS can accept an incoming Internet connection wirelessely and re-broadcast that connection to form your own private bubble or network. (Note the WTR54GS can also accept an incoming Internet connection via Ethernet cable).
Linksys Live Chat pointed me to these web pages.
Go to the Linksys Easy Answers page: For a schematic of the concept of "associating the travel router to a hotspot (wirelessly)" search for Easy Answer ID# 4831
    URL for above is http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4831&p_created=1167963305&p_sid=GmLnq3Zi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NjImcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0xNzIxLDE3MjMmcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0yLjE3MjMmcF9zY2ZfbGFuZz0xJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9V1RSNTRHUw**&p_li=&p_topview=1
There is a "configuration simulator" that shows the options for selecting a wired or wireless incoming Internet Type.
    http://linksys.com/ui/files/WTR54GS/1.0_15/Setup-Wireless.htm
The hotspot has to be "open", that is transmitting an SSID and with no WEP or WPA key. It may have a log-in page accessible via a web browser, this is okay as this will be passed onto the connected device.
My personal application is to be able to connect a PDA that has a 801.2b wifi to a 801.2g wireless network. I haven't tried it but if this works, it will extend the useful life of my PDA in a "g" environment. Will report back once I find a "g" only environment. Comments?

There are two conditions which must be met in order to use your WTR54GS to "extend" an incoming, wireless internet connection:
    The incoming connection must be unsecured.  You have already covered this point;
The security settings on your WTR54GS can only be set to "WEP," or to "Disabled."  If you choose "WEP," then you can use either a 40/64-bit, or a 128-bit key.
If those two conditions have been met, then it works fine -- says the guy who is sharing one paid internet conneciton in his hotel amongst three devices, and with co-workers in nearby rooms.

  • Firmware for hp bd 5740h needed, it's a laptop, blu ray drive

    Hello,
Please provide a link for firmware for hp bd 5740h , it's a laptop, blu ray drive.
    Thank you!

Can you tell us what kind of laptop it is? If HP has not posted firmware on the driver page then there is no updated firmware available from here and you may have to go to an enthusiast site to find a custom firmware. Before we go down that route, maybe you can tell us why you think new firmware is needed?
I was able to determine that the drive is made by Sony (optiarc) for HP. I was unable to locate a firmware update even for the Sony branded version so there may not be one or I may not have spent enough time looking.

  • I need a travel router and backup solution... Time Capsule?

I stay in hotels 365 days a year and traveling with the lightest and smallest equipment is important. I have a recent MBP and an iPhone I operate wirelessly each night. I currently have an external 2TB hard drive I use for firewire based backups now. I also have an Asus wl330ge mini travel router (basically a smaller and cheaper alternative to the Airport Express).
Basically, I want to end up with a wireless backup solution, (a wireless NAS) and I'd love it to have the wireless sharing/router/ethernet bridging abilities built in as well. I'm hoping this device is the Time Capsule. Please help me answer these questions:
-In hotel rooms where they provide a wired ETHERNET connection the Time Capsule will need to act as a wireless BRIDGE via ethernet + time machine. This is possible, correct?
-In hotel rooms where the hotel provides ONLY wifi, the device will need to ask as a wireless CLIENT and connect to the hotels WIFI network, is this possible?
    Thanks for your assistance!

Welcome to the discussion area, GetFoxy!
In hotel rooms where they provide a wired ETHERNET connection the Time Capsule will need to act as a wireless BRIDGE via ethernet + time machine. This is possible, correct?
Yes. If you configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode, you can setup the Time Capsule to "create a wireless network" and connect multiple wireless and ethernet devices. The big question is IF the hotel allows multiple devices to connect from one room. Some hotel routers do, some don't.
If multiple devices are not allowed to connect, you can try changing the Connection Sharing on the Time Capsule to "Share a public IP address". This will create what is known as a Double NAT error...usually not too serious in this type of setup...and it may allow you to connect multiple devices to the Time Capsule since the hotel' router only "sees" one device...the Time Capsule in this type of configuration. Sometimes works when Bridge Mode will not do what you want, but some hotel systems will not allow another router to connect to their network.
In hotel rooms where the hotel provides ONLY wifi, the device will need to ask as a wireless CLIENT and connect to the hotels WIFI network, is this possible?
Yes. But, when the Time Capsule "joins" a wireless network and becomes a client, it performs no routing functions in this type of configuration. In other words, the ethernet ports on the Time Capsule are not enabled, and the Time Capsule cannot provide a wireless network configured this way, so all device connections would occur over the hotel wireless.
Whether or not you would be able to connect multiple devices to the wireless network is open to question as many hotels only allow one wireless connection at a time per room. Or, if multiple devices are allowed to connect per room, the hotel will likely charge you separately for each device/connection.
Bottom line...this is going to be an "iffy" proposition because you often will not know what will work and what won't until you actually get to the hotel. You'll have much better luck with hotels that provide ethernet connections.
Since you'll need to make configuration changes on the Time Capsule to adapt to different hotel networks, you'll need to have AirPort Utility, the software application used to setup the Time Capsule, on your computer.
Finally, as far as space is concerned, you would probably need to re-pack the Time Capsule in the original carton to protect the hard drive from damage during travel. Or, come up with a good way to protect it for travel.

  • Is using a travel router for wifi as easy as plugging it in?

Is using a travel router for wifi use on iPad as easy as plugging it in?

Your question is not very clear but I assume you are talking about turning a wired hotel internet connection into WiFi that you can access with your iPad. If this is the case, and you have already set up the WiFi connection 0 meaning you can already connect to it with the iPad - then yes. You would plug the wired Internet into the WAN port of the router and power it up. You iPad should see it and be able to connect.
You may still need to log in to access anything other than the Hotel's landing page if they have one.

what is the charging procedure for european travel? do  need to use a converter or just an adapter?

The only thing would be an adapter, for example World Travel Adapter Kit from the Apple Store.
The power supply will accept the 240V input in Europe.

No. All Apple power supplies are "universal". They will work anywhere in the world. You just need a plug adapter.
