Need video card compareable to 9700 pro

I've got an msi 865pe neo fisr2 mobo. ati radeon 9700 pro has problems and is not compatible with my board. so, what from nvidia will be fully 100% compatible and compare in performance to the ati radeon 9700 pro or be slightly better? I'm thinking for price, $150-$200 at most.

I know it is not compatible cus i tried a GF 3 card with no issues. my brother in law has the same mobo and same card yet had the same problems. so that is incompatible. his card works fine on his older pc with different mobo, same for me. so i bought an nvidia card from leadtek. i dont trust ati and might not ever.
back when i first got the system built, i had the same problems. just i wasn't as upset because it was new. after time the same issues started getting on my nerves. i never not had issues. i always have, just at first it didn't bother me as much cus it was new, then after it got old i was poed at the issue. my brother in law same issues, got a new card for his pc and no problems. i tried an nvidia from my own pc and no problems. so the problem is the ati 9700 pro is not compatible with my motherboard nor my brother in laws. and my card is under warranty, it's already sent back to zipzoomfly, but since they have to wait 6 weeks or so from the date i sent it to them and will not exchange and i pay the difference on a new card or something, i am without a video card in this pc. they had to send back to ati, wait for ati to send them the thing, then send me the card. they said 2-3 weeks 3 weeks ago, and now tell me another 2 weeks or so. lol. but i can't wait this long, so i got a new card, should be here tomorrow, will never open the radeon 9700 pro once i get it back and i will just sell it. also i know for fact this is fact cus an ati rep said this as well as someone else on these forums long time ago. with cerain radeon 9700 pro, it was not compatible and never would work reliably.

  • Do i need video card in encoding computer or in fmis?

i going to use osprey 450e card in machine with xeon cpu with fmle.
do i need video card in the encoding machine?
do i need video card in fmis?
if yes what is recomended card?
    thanks

Osprey 450e is the Video card that you have put in your Xeon machine.
Install FMLE in the same machine. Give Input to your Osprey 450e card from the source of your choice( DVD player, Mini DV player or camcoder).
You donot need any card on FMIS machine.
Give path of FMIS machine in FMS URL textbox of FMLE as "rtmp://machine-name/[app on FMIS]" and then give streamname of your own choice. Now start streaming.

  • The AVI Radeon X1900 XT video card in my Mac Pro Dual-Core went bad and I need to replace it. I found one that is $250 but I don't think that I need the gaming-type processor.  I am using a 23" Apple Display. Are there lower cost options? -C

The Radeon X1900 XT video card went bad in my Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon. (I tried it with a good one at the office). I found one online that was $250. I don't need the gaming capacity of this card and was wondering if there were less expensive video cards that I could use in this machine. I run Adobe Creative Suites for graphics design and have a 23" Apply display. Thank you for any help that you can provide. -PretzelMcK

Then pick up the ATI 5770 AND upgrade to 10.6.8.
Same price for a good card that will work and helps to have 1GB VRAM.
There aren't any other real choices let alone less expensive.
Even the ebay links I had and not a lot of choices.

  • Top two best video cards for older Mac Pros?

I have some older Mac Pro towers that vary from:
2.66 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
    ..to this:
    2 x 2.93 GHz 6 Core Intel Xeon
Looking for at least the top two video cards that are tried and tested that would work best with at least Premiere Pro and AME. I just need to narrow down the unwieldy list that can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html

Are you adverse to using aftermarket cards that have been converted to work properly in a Mac?  If you aren't, then I'd recommend talking to Dave @ MacVidCards because he can cook you up an nVidia 700-series card that will boot properly in a Mac Pro, run at PCI-E 2.0 speeds, and work wonderfully in Pr/AME.

  • WHAT IS THE BEST VIDEO CARD FOR FINAL CUT PRO and MOTION?

    Hello folks,
I have found a lot of posts regarding all kinds of troubles with ATI READEON X1900 video card.
When I talked to people from Apple, trying to decide which videocard to install in new MAC PRO, Ati Radeon X1900 was the one they did recommand for FCP and Motion. So are there any other cards which would actually suite better for Final Cut Studio2, or is Ati Radeon X1900 really the one to go with?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Kootenay

Techreport has some more information on the new 55nm Radeon (X3000) which should be another "mid November" releases, as well as an updated 8800 GT that still is under wraps.
So seems Intel and everyone else is trying to get new products out before the end of the year, if possible.
Drivers for graphics controllers may or may not need the work that sometimes seems to plague companies.

  • Basic video card for 2008 Mac Pro?

An old question, I suppose, but products change....
The video card in my Early 2008 Mac Pro seems to be flaking out -- hardware crashes and the like.  I'm just using it as a server, and don't need a particularly high end (= expensive) replacement.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

"PC cards flashed to Mac Firmware do not show a picture until Mac OS X is fully up and running, so debugging, alternate booting, running Utility DVD or Recovery HD are extremely difficult."
Grant is right about many flashed cards. Specifically, flashed 5770 and 5870 cards show no EFI boot screens unless you hapen to use a VGA display connected via lower DVI port. Not very handy.
Many flashed Nvidia cards DO show the boot screens and thus function like a card you bought from Apple store.
There are now flashed GT120 cards available as well. You need to be certain that you are clear on whether your Mac Pro is EFI64 or EFI32. (Mac Pro 1,1 ad 2,1 are 32, all of the newer ones are EFI64)
The EFI64 machines have a much better array of options. If you are unclear, it is always better to ask questions before rather than guess, especially if the ad you are looking at seems ambiguous.
The screens before the desktop shows up are called the "Boot screens" typically and are there due to EFI drivers on card. From desktop on the OSX drivers take over.

  • Adding an additional video card to my Mac Pro 1,1

    Hello all,
I've got an old Mac Pro 1,1 with a Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT graphics card in it.  I'd like to add another graphics card to my machine in order to run another display.  I was looking at the ATI Radeon 5770 Graphics upgrade kit sold in the Apple store, but am wondering if I might as well just get another of the stock cards off of ebay.  I'm not doing nay hard core video stuff with this computer.  It runs all the multi-media for our church on Sunday mornings, so it simply does video playback.  I've found a bunch of them on ebay, but I'm not sure if there are PC versions and MAC versions of this card.  Does anyone know?
Or would I jsut be better off getting the 5770?  Can I install it and keep my current 7300 installed?
    -jon

Ahh, does that mean that something like this woudl need ot be flashed:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GT650M video card and CS6 Premier Pro

How can I get CS6 Premier Pro to recognize my video card; NVIDIA GeForce GT650M? Or can it be used at all with CS6 Premier Pro?

Yes, your NVIDIA GeForce GT650M should be suported.
features added or changed in this update
    Windows 8 certification
updates for HiDPI display, which improves appearance on computers that use Retina Display, such as MacBook Pro computers
added GPUs to the list of those that Premiere Pro CS6 will use for GPU processing: GT 650M (which is in the newer MacBook Pro computers) and GTX 680Note: Premiere Pro can use either OpenCL or CUDA for GPU processing on the GT 650M. The default is to use OpenCL. You can change this in the General project settings. For details of GPU acceleration in Premiere Pro, see this page. For details of OpenCL features in Premiere Pro CS6, see this page.

Here you could activate your Graphic Card and enable the Mercury Playback Engine and GPU acceleration to take full advantage of the CUDA or OpenCL technology.

  • Video card upgrades for Mac Pro 3.0Ghz quadcore, Video card upgrades for Mac Pro 3.0Ghz quadcore

Looking for advice on Mac Pro with a dying video card. This the early Xeon dual core 3.0Ghz with an ATI Radeon X1900. Maybe the Nvidia Quadro 4500. I know there is s Quadro 4800 which I don't know if will will work with this older Mac Pro. Links and advice is appreciated.

Both cards will work with your computer although that's not stated on Apple's website. I'm using a 5770 in a first generation Mac Pro and it works quite well. I can't get the best performance from it because my MP only has PCI Express 1.0 slots.

  • Video card suggestions for Mac Pro early 2007 (Rev a)

    Hello,
I have a Mac Pro Dual Quad Core. I bought it in March of 2007 so it is a certain type of Mac Pro. I think they call it Rev A.
I want to put in a more up to date video card that is really nice and works with 3d and after effects.
What are my choices for video cards? Am I limited to certain cards because of the year I bought my Mac Pro? I don't have the money to go up to the really nice $1000 dollar cards but I'd like a real nice ATI card. I think I'm done with Nvidia. They keep burning up.
    Thanks!
    spiral

    Hey Stephan,
One more question and this will be solved. I'll rep you again of course . I know that nVidia cards cannot do SLI in OS X. I have two and was super disappointed when I bought my first mac (this one) to learn that this option is not available.
Are ATI cards any different? They have the Crossfire capability and since they seem more supportive of Apple products, I was wondering if they also can support the Crossfire capability.
    Thanks,
    Spiral

  • Video cards for 2008 Mac Pro with 4 20 inch Cinema Displays

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro Quad Core with 16GB RAM. I run a 4 (20 inch Mac Cinema Display) monitor configuration off of it. one of my video cards just failed. They were never very good at handling FX in FCP anyway. I want to upgrade and get good cards for 2 displays each and if possible, video cards that will facilitate FCP X as well. What should I get?

OS X has drivers in 10.6.5
It is the ROM firmware that makes it work though there is help there too now for PC cards and flashing.

  • Video Card and Video Card Configurations for MacBook Pro

Does anyone know where I look to confirm which video card is in my MacBook Pro and also examine the current configurations and possibly look at configuration values for the video card.
I'm kind of new to Mac, but on the Windows world I would right click on the screen and then navigate to the Advanced Video card configurations. Is there something analogous in the Mac world?
    Thanks again.

    Hi Jason,
use the System Profiler app from the Applications/Utilities Folder to 'examine' the insides of your MBP.
You can also click on the Apple Icon in the Top Menu, choose About This Mac and the the More (Further) Informations button. (I have a german OSX...).
The only avaiable configuration options are found in the System Preferences (Display and Energy Savings).
    Have Fun

  • Need video card specs for my T21 to configure my xorg.conf (Xubuntu)

So in order to properly configure my xorg.conf, I need to know about what is its video card, vsync, hsync, resolutions, ...  I had tried to add the resolutions but I still cannot select 1024x768
