Need XP Service Pack 2 to download iTunes 9 ??

I have Windows XP - SP1. I tried exchanging a card to download songs in the iTunes Store, and it gave me an error, saying I needed to download iTunes 9.
Tried that, and it says I need Windows XP Service Pack 2 to get iTunes 9.
So basically, I can't buy songs anymore since I'm on a lower version of iTunes, and I can't download a higher version since I'm not on the right version of XP... Any solution to this? (I can't just go buy a new windows prog...)

You do indeed need Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, but there's nothing you need to purchase. Service Pack 2 is free from Microsoft, as is Service Pack 3 (the latest update for Windows XP). Not only is SP2 required for iTunes, it's strongly recommended as it patches some major security problems that were present in prior releases of Windows XP. So just go to Microsoft, or use Windows Update, and update your system. You should then be able to install iTunes.

  • Error stopping 'Bonjour Service' when trying to download itunes 9.2

i recently tried to update itunes to 9.2 on my windows. The automatic download had an error so i ended up having to do it manually. When trying to download itunes, i encountered an error message saying that bojour services could not be stopped. It asked me to verify that I have sufficient privelages to stop system services (??!!). I decided I would try to delete bonjour all together, but i couldn't find it anywhere on my computer. I am so confused and all i really want is to update itunes. Please help!!

    HRESULT: 0x8007054f.
... that seems to have been the most popular alphanumeric code in recent days. (Just like katherine's one.)
In general, these ones tend to be caused by underlying problems on the PC that can prevent Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to fix the Windows Update issues. If we can get Windows Updates flowing again, that generally clears up the iTunes install errors +en passant.+
Head into your Windows Update, and check for any new updates. Do any fail? If so, open your Update History and doubleclick on the failure entries to bring up a small box with alphanumeric error message codes. Are you getting 8000FFFFs? (They often seem to be associated with an iTunes-install 0x8007054f.)
If you're getting 8000FFFFs, try the following Microsoft document:
    [Windows Update Error 8000FFFF|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-Error- 8000FFFF]
Head back to Windows Update, and see if you can get Updates to install successfully this time. If you can get updates now, stock up on any updates you're behind on. Once you're completely up to date in that regard, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Do I need to buy Snow Leopard to download iTunes 10?

I just got the iPhone today and when I went to sync it, it said I needed the newest version of iTunes. I downloaded it, but now it's saying that I need OS X 10.5. I have an old Mac that I've always kept mainly for my iTunes. Does Apple really expect that I'm going to purchase new software after spending $250 today buying my phone?

    Hi jmd1234,
iTunes 10 requires OS X 10.5 or later. OS X 10.5 is actually Leopard, but you can currently purchase Snow Leopard for £25 ($29) on Amazon. You can check that your mac meets the general requirements for Snow Leopard [here|http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html].

fhdNKS, how did you fix it?  I'm getting the same error message and can't figure it out.  I've seen this question several other times on this forum too.  Thanks!

  • Bootcamp and Windows XP Service Pack compatibility?

    Hey everyone,
I'm having a problem installing Windows XP onto my brand-new Macbook. I've got a still-in-the-package Windows XP re-installation disc from my girlfriend's computer but on the disc it says "includes Service Pack 1a". It says that I need Windows Service Pack 2 or later here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/11889.html
Upon finding the place to download Service Pack 2 on the Microsoft site, it says that you shouldn't download Service Pack 2 if it's for just one computer, here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245 -9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
I started to try to install the disc via Bootcamp but was reluctant to partition my hard drive since I'm not sure about the Service Pack's compatibility for my Macbook.
Do I need to get a new Windows XP installation disc (as in go and buy one) or should I try to download Service Pack 2 or later from somewhere? I'm afraid to try to install Windows XP if I don't have the right disc or Service Pack. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks for reading!

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
for Windows XP installation on a Mac using BootCamp the XP istall CD has to have at least SP2 incorporated.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899
Using an older version usually doesn't work and creates some problems.
However you can make yourself a XP SP2 installation CD using your SP1a CD and these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp
But you have to do this on a Windows PC.
And despite what Microsoft says on that "Network Installation Package" page I would always recommend using these stand-alone SP updater and not use Windows Update for such huge system updates.
    Hope it helps
    Stefan

  • AMDS will not install when I download itunes on vista

I have been trying to install itunes for months, my old ipod worked well with 10.4 but then failed to recognise the device when it needed updating. After calling Apple their helpline advised me to uninstall and reinstall itunes and ever since then ( January) I have been unsuccessful - AMDS just does not download as part of itunes set up and I cannot download as a separate entity.
I have followed ALL the troubleshooting guides to restart it but cannot do this as the programme is just not there!
After reinstalling itunes for the billionth time I now get this error message -
AMD failed to start- verify you have sufficient privileges to start the system services.
I have downloaded itunes as user and administrator with no luck - HELP!!!!!
    Thanks

First uninstall your copy of Itunes--http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/uninstall-itunes/  (make sure you empty crash)  Then you go to the applications website and reinstall it.  Dont worry about losing any of your music because thats in a separate folder.   Thats it---it works.

  • IQ770 crashed after service pack 1 automatic update.

after service pack one was downloaded ,while on line i would get kicked off.eventually windows wouldnt boot up,and then received a blue screen with an error message saying windows has shut down to prevent further damage to the computer.then the computer would only boot up in safe mode.i tried system restore in safe mode, but it did not work.i called hp technical support. they told me i need to do a system recovery.i tried a system recovery through the hard drive, it went through the whole process, and i thought it was going to work, but when it was time for windows to boot up the computer froze.the tech said i need to purchase a recovery cd and it should work.i ordered it and i followed the directions and ran the cd.when the disc was complete the screen was white, and there was no response of any kind.then after a few hours i shut the computer off.when i turned it back on there was nothing but a screen with vertical colored lines, and no response.i have had the computer for 14 months when this happened.i don't know what to do? has this happened to anyone els?

hi, ive got almost the same problem. I just haven't followed through on the back-up as far as you have. good thing, it looks like. I've almost filled my hard drive, now going on 19mos later. i wish i could help. my video is fine, i think. ive ran every free malware, virus, defender and anti spyware prog i could find for this. and got rid of a lot of supposed threats. but the problems get worse and worse. lately i cant get my hardware to work right. seems one thing after another one piece or another seems to go out. weird thing is: the drivers say they are totally updated just for some reason not working and needs to go online but wireless and ethernet both have "hardware connection errors" so i cant get the sucker online. then my system speakers are out. ive tried uninstalling, disabnling, updating via sd card and hp and microsofts sites (all the trials and errors not necessarily in chronological order) but i dont know what to do. winlogon shuts off, oembios shuts off, now i look over and windows explorer keeps going out aaaaaaarrrrrrgh, i dont have that much money to get new warranty. <text deleted> since i cant get online with mine its not up to me when i can check my email. but if someone wants to try and troubleshoot this with me via messenger if im on or email id really appreciate it. im at a loss cuz im normaly the it tech to go to for vista, but now im lost and would really appreciate any and all info or idea...even if ive tried it, maybe my sequencing was off and im willing to retry ....thanks

  • Re: Satellite A660 - Intel Graphic drivers & Service Pack 1 installation

Hello, hope someone can help me.
I recently put in a new hard drive in my Toshiba A660 Satellite model No. PSAW3A-15J06T, and after reinstalling Windows 7 (64 bit), Service pack 1 isnt shown as an option in windows upgrade. I read on the microsoft site, that my Intel Graphics HD Driver 8.15.10.2119 would cause this problem and it needs to be updated.
I have had no success in finding the correct driver to rectify this.
In the device manager, the name of the driver is just 'Intel (R) HD Graphics' driver date 21/4/2010, version 8.15.10.2119.
I upgraded my Nividia driver successfully from the Toshiba downloads, but cant seem to find a newer driver for the Intel (R) HD Graphics.
I desperately need the Service Pack 1, and cant just download it from the Microsoft download centre either, because the info says to make sure drivers are up to date.
Can anyone point me in the direction to where I can download the correct Intel Graphics driver. I looked at the Intel site, but its just way over my head.
    Hoping someone can help
    Karen

Hi Silas, and thanks so much for your quick reply.
Yes, I made the recovery discs prior to taking the old hard drive out, so all the drivers should have been there.
Yes, I agree its strange that it depends on a driver to prevent service pack 1 being an option in windows update, but thats what they said on Microsoft, so I guess I have to believe it.
I must say, this is the second recovery I have done (2nd hard drive in 3 years), and I vaguely remember the service pack 1 taking a long time to come through the first time around (though it was only 3 months old at the time, so different situation I suppose).
As you advise, I'll wait a bit longer to see. I didnt really want to have to put the laptop into a repairshop for them to find the drivers for me.
    Thank you,
    Karen

    HI ,
SP3 for SQL server 2008 r2 is not there I guess you are talking about SQL server 2008.When you install Service pack and reach to 'Select Features ' page please select all the features. You can see SSIS ,SSRS and SSAS listed there as well with database engine
    and client tools.
After selecting all features SP will be installed for all and all features will be patched
