Need Zen XTRA software.......my CD was damaged

Where can I download the needed software to be able to use my computer to manage my player. My computer crashed and I lost everything. Now my install cd was damaged and I have no way to work with my player. Someone help me please? I have 5 years of saved music on my player and I would hate to loose it.

Zen Xtra software - need HELP!

Hi, Just bought a Zen Xtra 40 GB from a friend. I am totally confused about just about everything, and found today that the Nomad Primer has disappeared! But, my software question:
I am trying to figure out what software I need to update or install on my computer/player, etc. I don't understand if my firmware and MediaSource software is old or new or what?
I am running Windows XP Service pack 2, all up to date. The Zen I just bought is a year old. The firmware on it says it is: version .03.02. My MediaSource software says it is: version 2.02.06.
Do I need to update? If so, which updates do I need? If I install new firmware, will it erase all the music on my player? I am desperately trying to back up my Zen music library onto my computer, but everything keeps going wrong. Maybe it's my software?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

. Drivers - Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03 (.3 MB)
2. MediaSource update - Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 (52.2 MB)
3. Nomad Plugin - Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource (9.72 MB)
If you intend to update the firmware, just go for the version .xx.xx update that's available on the website. It shouldn't delete the files in the player but like any electronics device, anything can go wrong anytime so I would also suggest backing up your data/audio files in the player first just in case.

Zen Xtra Software Probl

i had bought a few weeks ago a Creative Zen Xtra with 60GB, i had bought it in Italy but with the different languages it isnt any problem to use it! The Zen Xtra is international isnt it's
My Problem is the Software, the CD where is in the package with the Zen Xtra cant open with autoplay and i cant open any software!
A have a few questions:
. With which programes i havo to load music from pc to the Zen?
2. It is a problem for the Zen that i dont have USB2.0 ?
3. Why the CD doesnt open with the autoplay ?
4. Can i take the mp3s with another way on my Zen ?

Zen Xtra Software not launch

hello - I have been searching the internet for over a month trying to find a solution to my Zen Xtra problem.
About a month ago, I launched the Creative media program to transfer files into my Xtra. The software just shut down. After repeatedly trying to get it to open, it comes back with a message. "Creative Mediasource has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Thats not very helpful. Ive uninstalled the original driver I got with the Zen - I reinstalled the software - and downloaded drivers from the Creative site. Nothing works. My player works fine - but I cant access the files to add/delete.
Is it all over for my Zen.
Any help would be appreciated.

My Zen Xtra 40GB mp3 player was dead with no reason

I bought this mp3 player(Zen Xtra 40GB?last year, it worked brilliant for 3 months, after that, I went back to my country for 3 months, when I came back in Oct, I could only switch it on, and after welcome screen, it pop up an reset back stage list for just half sec, then turn to welcome screen again... I took it inside my house(I was using it as my in-car media center) decide to check it out. after few days, it just went dead. no matter press any bottom, or even charging, there is no signs at all... is there any of you have the same problem before? is there any solutions that I could self-repair it's?I am afraid it has ran out its warranty. Are there any third party resellers that are able?to repair it's or it has to be return to Creative support/repairing depot?also how much is it'sgonna charge me for repairing by Creative??Please help me... I love this Creative mp3 player, don't want it just dead like this!!

I dont know maybe your hard dri've died, Try if its possible to update the firmware or reformating to see if it fixes. If anything call Creative if you really like your player you can buy another one or get it fized. Sorry sucks to lose a good MP3 player. I also heard that you should have your device on HOLD to prevent damage I really dont understand why but maybe it will halpe you in the future

Problem Installing Zen Xtra Software Suite HELP

I have a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 40GB and I am trying to load my music onto it. I went to creative's site and installed the driver:
Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
After installtion I connect the device for the driver to take effect.
Then the Autoplay feature of XP asked me what I wanted to do.
I selcted Synchronize media files.....using Windows Media Player v0
I got the error that:
Windows Media Player does do not detect any portable device. Connect your portable device, and then try again.
I went back to Creative's website and downloaded:
Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra Players
The current frmware v2.0.03
I went to install that and I got an error saying that:
Setup could not detect any portable device on your system.
Setup will now install the necessary drivers to enable your device to be detected
I selected OK.
It said Please remove any Zen Xtra devices before the installtion. I did.
Then it said Please reconnect your device for the driver to take effect. I did.
And I still got the Setup could not detect..... error.

i recently deleted everything on my computer and starting out fresh, i seem to have lost my CD that has software for me to be able to read the "item" to be able to add any more songs to the mp3
so basicly is there a file that has the same stuff that was on the CD that came with my mp3

Need Zen Xtra Orig Firmw

I installed the upgrade (.20.080 for my firmware and lost alot of functionality on the unit. I still have the CDrom that came with the unit. I am looking for the original firmware that shipped w/ the product. Is it hiding on the CD? can i download it from someplace else?

So the advertised EAX is with the new firmware no longer there? I do not have an Xtra but wonder how this could be possible!? It can happen to all other creative players: just install the new firmware and you have some of the features gone. It is really hard to believe. Really.
may be something went wrong with the Player, or did you install the proper firmware?
Have you tried to use the search function of the forum or may be just Google. there should be the original firmware somewhere. You can try the Nomadworld.com as well.

No power after firmware upgrade on nomad jukebox zen xtra

I have the nomad jukebox zen xtra 30gig that froze up over a year ago after i tried to install the firmware upgrade. After the unsuccessful attempt, the mp3 player stopped working.... I mean no power at all. I've changed the battery and recharged the battery from an outside source...still no luck. I can't even try any of the suggestions anyone gives on this site because I have no power.Does anyone have this problem? More important, does anyone have this problem and know of a solution?I've already set my pc back to wmp 0, I have the firmware on the desktop waiting. Now all I need is some power on this unit so that i can try some of the suggestions that seems to be working for people. Thank you

I have pressed the reset button, on / off switch, removed the battery, reinstalled the battery, and nothing seems to work. Zen Xtra 3

Hey everyone:
I just got a Zen Xtra 30 gb for xmas and I was loading songs onto today and have come across some serious problems when I go to turn it on to play. I can get the mp3 player to load up to the screen that has select music, now playing etc but, its acting like there is a button lock on. It won't do anything at all it doesn't scroll nothing. I tried to reset and I can't select anything nothing scroll or selects. I am not sure what is wrong with it at all any help would be great. Also I have tried to update firmware and it refuses to update. I get a message on my computer saying that the player cannot start up properly please reboot and try again. Am i doing something wrong? Its fustrating and I am not being stubborn or demanding but, after reading through the forums there seems to be multiple problems with the Zen Xtra. When it was working I thought it was awesome. I have only about 2 hours of use on it and thats it. Not sure what else to say other than please help.

It may be that your particular player needs to be exchanged for another. If your local retailer or online vendor has stock then I would suggest going through them. If you ordered directly from us then you can call -800-998-000 Option # to arrange an exchange. If none of these applies,best is to contact support to arrange a repair for you. Zen XTRA Reload OS Prob

I reloaded the os no knowing what it does, and now my computer won't detect the mp3 player. i also tried downloading firmware, but when it goes to install, it doesnt detect the mp3 player either. can anyone help me please?

I have the same problem; I just purchased a new laptop, installed Zen XTRA software in the computer and did not recognized the player. I also upgraded the drivers and no luck. I suspect one of the problems may be the fact that my new laptop has Creative 5 media source alreday loaded. I upgraded the drivers in my desktop with no problems. I am ready to unistall everything because it just won't recognize it. Has anyone received an answer from the technical people at creative?

I was hoping someone can please help me out here in Forum Land ?I just bought a new computer with WINDOWS VISTA and my Installation disk is not compatible. I have tried d/l from this site with no luck. It will go to the WIZARD part but won't finish the installation. I need to get the Software on my new puter for my NOMAD ZEN XTRA 30GB MP3 Player.Namely I guess the Creative MediaSource and it's amazing Organizer.Any links or steps in how too would be most appreciated I have emailed the Creative team but I keep get stuck at what to do next. They said something about installing and completing the firmware update, your player will be using the PlaysForSure software, but on the same sentence he/she says "However you will need to do this on an XP system".. and I have Vista so I am totally confused. I also checked out the site he/she suggested about installing this FirmWare and that site says "Back up all audio, video, image or data files stored in the player to a secure location before changing the firmware. All contents in the player will be lost when you install a new firmware"? -- How can I back up when I can't access it's And surely, I don't want to lose my over 2,500 songs ! Yikes... Dead drive in a Zen Xtra, need help w/ replacem

The dead dri've in my 40Gb Zen Xtra has been removed from the player and its been sitting in pieces for the past week or so. I would like to know what I would need to do to a replacement dri've (have a 40Gb notebook dri've ready to go) in order for the player to A. recognize it and B. be able to put songs on it. Do I have to format it in a certain way before hand or will the firmware update be able to do that? Help is much appreciated.

I was having similar troubles trying to get a big Maxtor operational. I had to set a jumper on the back of the drive ... then was able to follow the advice given below. (Please see complete text of other item).
I've been successful using Maxtor 60GB IDE drives on Solaris 8 on Sparc by doing the following:
1. Boot the system off System Software 1 of 2 CD, and follow the instructions until you can open a command window.
2. Once in the command window you need to type "format". Choose the hard drive (disk), but then you need to create a new "type" that is compatible with the solaris driver software and uses most of the disk. For large IDE drives, the only thing that matters is the actual number of usable sectors (which are 512 bytes each). You can go to the Maxtor website to get the real number of sectors for your drive. Then you need to make up a set of cyl, head, sectors numbers to enter into the "type". The limits on the Solaris driver (found by hitting enter at the prompts) are: max Cyl: 32767, max heads: 64, max sectors: 256. These are different than the limits for Windows. ATA limits max heads to 16, so I use that to be safe. Therefore I choose to use 256 sectors, 16 heads, and then choose a number of cylinders that will yield a number equal or less than the total number of sectors allowed on the drive (ie: total sectors = cyl*heads*sectors). Then subtract 2 from the cylinders when entering the number of cyl at the prompt, as you'll need them for the following steps where it wants to reserve two cylinders. When you get to the name of the drive, I choose to type the name of the drive with an * appended to the end to signify a difference. Once done defining the "type", write the label.
3. Proceed with installation.

I hope you are still here Grommit.
The reason why the new Creative Software Suite will not install is because the firmware you have is not the version the suite is looking for.
If you want to install the new Suite, you will have to update to the PlaysForSure firmware (2.0.03, I believe). However, if you do this, be aware that you will also have to download and install the latest Zen Driver, Creative MediaSource, and Zen Plugin for the MediaSource (all available in the download section) - also, once you start the firmware update on the Zen Xtra, you WILL NOT be able to revert back to a previous version of the firmware, and the drivers and programs on the install CD will not function with the new player at all.
Unless you use a subscription service with DRM mp3s, or have had issues with Playback Errors in certain mp3s, there is very little immediate need to upgrade.
