Needed Infrastructure for XI Environment

My question is does anyone have any suggestions on implementing a very small XI production environment? We intend to scale it later - but have limited funding now. We currently have XI running on a 2 X 4 Linux box - this is our sandbox. We need this for a project and it needs to handle only about 5 -10 small xml messages a day posting them to a webservice.
What I was thinking was to start out keeping our sandbox for the dev/test box and then putting maybe 2 2 X 7gig boxes out for prodction. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

any hardware which is starting up with XI 3.0 will handle your given messagesize and numbers without problem.

Your planned sizing should be more than enough for the moment. Do not forget to setup the archiving if the number of messages increases.

To developers Cardlet (Applets to loads in smart card) not is necesary some IDE in particular, that you need is have all the library for java of the version javacard that you use and configure you IDE (that's CLASSPATH).
Very IDE are very good JBuilder, JDeveloper, Eclipse, and others; you cna find this for Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac normaly.
The firts you need is obtain some this and check which the this is more easy for use to you.

Mifi devices are usually quite small. Think Credit Card size, and maybe slightly thicker. So not really a big device you need to carry around.
In any case if you are still within the 14 day return period you may be able to return it to an Apple retail store. It needs to be an Apple Owned store, not sure Authorized Resellers will let you do it.
Other than that, bob points out, you may want to try to use the iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad. If your Carrier supports it. Like the Mifi device, the iPhone will share its cellular internet connection out to other devices over a Wireless network the iPad can use.

Could you please let me know what specific skill set is required for hyperion environment patching?
Does it come under hyperion application administration? Could you please also help me understand the difference between Hyperion application administrator and Hyperion infrastructure administrator?

Is there a reason for asking this question? It all depends on the company to how the role is defined, it is possbile application administrator or infrastructure administrator could be applying patches, usually falls more under an infra role though.
You would usually need product knowledge, the technologies behind EPM and the architecture, OS skills.

Install a grid infrastructure for a cluster for single node Windows Server

Hello,
Can you suggest me how to install a Oracle Single Node RAC 11g on a Windows Server 2008 x64 bits? It's for testing purposes and I don't need two nodes. I know that Linux is better, but my company only uses Windows servers. Our former consultant was able to do it, but didn't tell us how to and that server was lost.
I know that we have to install first Grid Infrastructure. Running the "Oracle Grid Infrastructure" installer, I could successfully install a "Grid Infrastructure for a Standalone Server". But that grid is not for a RAC database. When trying to install the Database software, it allowed to me to only install "Single instance database", not "Real Application Cluster database installation".
Running the "Oracle Grid Infrastructure" installer, I tried to select option:
"Install and Configure Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster" -> Typical Installation:
SCAN Name: SRVORAC-cluster
Validating SCAN information
INS-40922 Invalid SCAN Name - unresolvable to IP address.
Is it possible to install a grid infrastructure for a cluster for a single-node or one-node Windows Server ?

HI,
You probably have misconception about Single node RAC. This feature does not need that you have only one physical machine in a RAC, it actually means that in a RAC environment (2 or more nodes), you can run your database on only one node(single instance) and then later you can move this single instance to any other node of the RAC (so that you can do some patching on this node making your database available all the time). This also has some other benefits, see bellow.

Need suggestion for monitoring tools

Hi experts,
i am in process for finding a best approach for new environment given to me for sql server monitoring purpose.
its sql server 2008 r2 x64 with 32 GB memory and 2008 R2 server OS.
its a small setup and have two production servers only and both two servers are on two node active/passive cluster steup.
i need to implement best monitoring approach in terms of only sql server (not for OS issues), with best monitoring real time reports, automated alerts for disk/log/space/job/server health/deadlock etc issues.
please suggest me any two tools which can be best to go with considering cost and effectiveness and with single licenece only for all servers. can have upto 6 servers including dev/qa and 20 instances on them.

How to set property for Cluster Environment for JMS Adapter

hi, Someone help me to import oracle 10G dump into 9i database. I'm studying oracle . Im using oracle 10G developer suite(downloaded from oracle) and oracle 9i database. I saw some threads tat we can't import the higher version dumps into lower version database. But i'm badly need help for importing the dump...

someone please tell me the site to download oracle 9i Developer suite as i can't find it in oracle site...

I didnt testet it to import a dump out of a 10g instance into a 9i instance if this export has been done using a 10g environment.
But it is possible to perform an export with a 9i environment against a 10g instance.
I am just testing this with a 9.2.0.8 environment against a 10.2.0.4.0 instance and is working so far.
The system raises an EXP-00008 / ORA-37002 error after exporting the data segments (exporting post-schema procedural objects and actions).
I am not sure if it is possible to perform an import to a 9i instance with this dump but maybe worth to give it a try.
It should potentially be possible to export at least 9i compatible objects/segments with this approach.
However, I have my doubts if this stunt is supported by oracle ...

Why do we actuallya need the setting of environment variables?

Hello guys,
I read that, in order to connect to the database via SQL*Plus, we need to have the environment variables set. So, SQL*Plus is a command tool, which doesnt know over which path to connect to db, if the environment variables are not set?
How about the needs of setting environment variables at point of view of MS-DOS? I know that over MS-DOS we can check if the environment variables are already set or not. Or we can actively set the environment variables.
When should we actually set the environment variables? Before we run the GUI or after? I read, that if we set it before we run the GUI, then the setting will be taken over when it comes to that step by running GUI. I am curious, since this would be interesting to know, if we use other version than XE.

Oracle's flexibility ... many different versions working the same on many different versions of many different operating systems ... means that a single consistent installation and configuration methodology must work everywhere so as not to have the limitations of other competing products that work on only a single operating system or require that one learn a different syntax and methods for different versions.
Be grateful Oracle is as it is. Your competence in one version and operating system translates into competence in others.

It's a pretty standard technique for setting default variables under *nix, no magic involved. And this particular example was taken from the Tomcat 5.5.25 startup script.

You need to use mkstoolkit or cywgwin to work EBS on windows coz of to can run some perl and also can use some command as kill, ps, ls etc..Apps tier also need that program can compile something inside.

You have a few options to build a WLST script from the admin/config operations that you have performed in your development environment using console.
OPTION 1: (WLST Recording)
Check the below video. (The only drawback is that this video talks about the WLST recording feature which is available only on WLS10.0. Ofcourse, if you have a 10.0 installation you can still use this feature and then make some small modifications to the generated script to make it suitable for 9.2)

OPTION 2: (Converting the configuration to a script)
After you have configured your entire domain using the console, you run the configToScript command as per the below documentation (To run this you need to invoke WLST and then run the command with appropriate arguments such as path to the config.xml file etc)

Then you can use the generated script to create similar domains in your Test AND Production environments.

Ideally, you need two nodes to install a RAC. If you have only one system and trying for practice, you can do it with Virutal machines(VM) or create it as single instance.
You can refer Oracle documentation on Grid install and postings in the internet about Grid install in using VM.
