Needed New N73 firmware

Even if there are other post open on the subject
In other area of the forum the subject seems to have been moved in order to make it less visible
I would like to start a list of signature of user which have been strongly damnaged by the last Nokia firmware update for the model N73
If you have this phone model and after the last firmaware update ERRONOUSLY provided by nokia you have a BT (GSM, stereo or headset) device that at the moment is useless because does not connect with your phone
PLEASE add your user name
I believe that if nobody coplain no new firmware will came out

The old firmware cannot be downloaded and installed .....
We are all in the hands of Nokia support.
It exist a newfirmware working properly (see another post)but still has not been placed for the update
Clearly it is Nokia interest to force N73 users to buy Nokia headset and GPS then they will delay as much as possible the new firemware
WE MUST COMPLAIN OTHERWISE this firmware will not be pubblic

But u need to consider 3 things.
1.Dont use PC suite for transfer data such as M VP and docs use USB Mode.
    2. Keep at least 200 Mbyte of space bcoz of slow processor.
    3. Buy card carefully.
    Cheers
    I'll agree with point 1, but point 2 I won't agree with.
The phone will hardly use the SD card for temporary storage - thats the purpose of the D drive/RAM. And if the N73 is using the SD storage for a swap file, then that seems like a strange design choice. You are using PC ideas on something that isn't directly applicable.
I was running a 2gig card on the original v2 firmware without any problems. No problems either on the V3 firmware either.

  • New N73 Firmware V 4.0839.42.2.1 Problems

    After updating my phone, 1st i noticed that the startup time just get better but, all problems come one after one;
    1) the battery life have been ruined .
    2) in making a call sometimes the phone hangs and there is no solution but removing the battery.
    3) in the web or services >options>settings>access points ===>the option always ask just vanished
    finally,
i think any one want to make a firmware update just forget it and enjoy your present firmware.
another question please, is all that happening to me only ?

@ SajanRai : i'll tell you why nobody have a solution for us
as nokia now trys to make new phones the support team consider our phone as a realy old one
so, we have to live with this fact
i have some solutions for you, as i'm now an expert for nokia N73
    1) for the battery, try to get a new one
    2) for hanging the calls, backup your data and restore factory settings for and don't install alot of programs in it especialy (ownskin themes) it ruins your mobile battery and make it really slow
    3) to get a nice performance while surfing the internet, you have to try the new opera mini (v5.1 beta 2) (the .sis one) it's really great and will not tell you memory full  http://m.opera.com/mini5s60.sis?act=dl&tag=mini5s60
    4) if you really sick of it ( you are not alone )

  • WRT330N needs new firmware!

I have owned a WRT330N since April 2007, and have noticed several issues with the unit. Some may be specific to my unit, but some are firmware related. What is most troublesome is that I reported the single port forwarding bug to Linksys back in May 2007, and they still have not produced new firmware...
I list these issues not so much for help from this forum, but to share information with those who already own a WRT330N, or are thinking about getting one. These issues still exist with the newest firmware (1.00.3).
Issue #1: Single port forwarding bug. Although the pulldown would indicate that you can specify TCP, UDP, or Both, no matter what setting you configure, it always displays (and saves) the protocol as TCP. I confirmed this by trying to single port forward TeamSpeak and setting it to UDP. Did not work. If I go to Port Range Forwarding, and configure it for a single port and for UDP, TeamSpeak works fine. Thus, all my single port forward rules that need UDP or Both have to be listed under Port Range forwarding.
Issue #2: Over time, I have changed MANY settings on this unit. Most recently, devices attached to the WRT330N would periodically be unable to communicate to the router IP (192.168.1.1 by default). Pinging the IP just timed out. This condition would happen several times an hour, but only for a second or two. Reflashing the firmware seemed to resolve the problem. Note: this was not a firmware upgrade, I was already at 1.00.3; I just reflashed 1.00.3.
Issue #3: Config file bugs. I have noticed that if I change a LOT of settings on the unit, then save the config file, I am unable to load the config file (router claims it is corrupted). This occurred not only on my WRT330N, but also on my WRT54GX as well. However, I did notice that I was able to save, then successfully load, the fully customized config file immediately after reflashing the firmware.
Issue #4: Along with #2, the wireless transmitter seems to stop broadcasting for a minute or two several times a day. I will have a perfect connection for hours, and then bam, no signal. A minute later the signal returns. This issue MAY have disappeared after reflashing.
Linksys is sending me a replacement unit in case this is a hardware problem, for which I am grateful. Unfortunately, this will not resolve #1 or #3, and Linksys' refusal to release new firmware is most troublesome.

    Hello,
Just adding my name to the list of folks who believe that this router does need new firmware.   I had a WRT54G v2 for serveral years and as of late it had developed the bad tendancy to do something very odd with DNS queries, after a hard reset it would clear up for a while, but eventually would come back.  I figured that after several firmware updates over the years I'd just gotten a bad flash.
I picked the WRT330N to replace it primarally just because I wanted a router that had a Gigabit Switch integrated and had prior good luck with LinkSys products.  It just seems that the new router doesent have some features that the old one did (i.e. it's a step backwards).
    1. If I port forward port 80 to my web server, and then use my external domain name which goes to my external IP, the router doesnt get me there.  My WRT54G did this with no difficulty.
    2. I could find no option to disallow access to the web configuration from the wireless.
    3. The router seems to reboot whenever you change trivial settings.  Much more often than the WRT54G.
I dont know if LinkSys product planning looks at this, however I for one would say that I'd be happy with a WRT54G that was just updated with a Gigabit Ethernet Switch and otherwise all the same features as it had previously (including keeping the form factor that stacks on other linksys devices).

  • Do i need new Firmware

Im new to all this electronic stuff, so im going to come across as someone who is thick
When i asked my phone what my firmware was, it gave me this:
    V3.0617.0.6
    03-05-2006
    RM-92
    Nokia N80 (31.01)
    Can anyone help!?

You don't need new firmware just because it's available - you should only look at getting it updated if you are experiencing problems. I think some NSC's may refuse updates if you're not having trouble.
There are many topics on here relating to the bugs in the N80 - search for them and see if you're having any of the problems mentioned.
If you are experiencing faults / bugs, contact your local Nokia Service Centre and discuss it with them.

  • Problems with the NEW V50 Firmware

Hi all... my nokia 5800 faces some problems here after upgrading to the new V50 firmware, not sure whether have u all encountered it before...
    1. Sometimes when typing SMS, the cursor will keep moving backwards and hang there (sounding tut tut tut... continuously and unstoppable)
    2. Sometimes the vibration on touching the screen will suddenly become stronger than normal, like suddenly Zeeek, zek, zek rather than normal zek, zek, zek~
I am not sure whther it is common in V50 firmware or it happens only to my specific phone.
    Please help !!! Thanks~

A hard reset is needed to clean everything out on your phone. In fact, it is best to do a hard reset BEFORE any firmware update. This is because of possible inconsistencies with system files our own usage may have made. Installation of apps also has an effect, as they create their own system files which are set to be compatible to that of older firmware. New files and new system files coming with the newer firmware adding new features everywhere (this one, v50, in fact from my understanding affects display and icon system files due to the kinetic scrolling in icon menu) may have caused incompatibilities with certain apps. Also one must take into consideration orphaned files caused by installation and uninstallation of apps.
All of these possible incompatibilities may exist on both phone or memory card which both contains system files. First thing, try to run a disk check on the memory card, if nothing happens, you format. If nothing still happens, you reinstall the fw into the phone. If nothing still happens, you put a formatted card and format the phone and reinstall.

the difference in this new firmware..
    - i see Music Player is renamed Mus. Plyr. .. weird, it's like they want to keep things short.. haha..
    - and also, you cant rename your memory card longer than 5 letters ..
    - the fonts are smaller, and you can see it's jagged...
    - ram improved from last firmware ; i get 19mb every startup of my phone.. but the memory leakage still there..
    - and also, this is new i think... but for normal n73, you wont have the music player automatically load each time you start your phone.. this feature only with n73me ..
    - but the multimedia key is maintain as normal n73, which i like.. there you can customized the multimedia shortcuts and functions...
    - last... no updates for flash player and nokia maps...

  • N73 Firmware Update & Restore of Phonebook/Message...

    Hey all,
I recently updated my N73 Firmware to 3.0704.1.0.1. As you know when upgrading it wipes the phone. When I restarted I restored my last backup from Nokias PC Suite to get names/numbers/messages transfered over again to the phone. Unfortunatly in doing this it seems to have removed some of the new firmware features (clock with 'am/pm' screensaver etc.). Do any of you know how to get this back? I've had a look in settings but can't see anything.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

I've understood it's quite normal that the update prosedure may seem to stop even for some minutes and then go on again. The connection between the phone and computer will also break and then reconnect couple of times...
Are you sure, you did wait long enough before unplugging your phone (at least some minutes)?
But if your phone has the new firmware now and everything is working fine so I hope there is no problem!

  • New N73.... but where's the Active Sync?

    hello,
    what's going on?
I bought a new N73 on the understanding that it did Active Sync... unwrapped the pretty little thing, only to discover it DOESN'T in fact have Active Sync...
Any advice? Or should I return the little **bleep**??
    cheers!
    p

Some of the posters above might need to follow these instructions. Once the phone gets in the indefinite 'Connecting' state caused by certificate problems, it might not ever connect again without restoring the device.
This is something being studied. It seems to happen when the prompt about untrusted certificates is not answered within a few minutes.
What you need to do is backup your device to a memory card, restore the device to factory settings, and restore your backup.
Read this entire section before following the steps:
    1. Perform the backup – Insert a memory card. Then use Menu>Tools>Memory>Options>Backup… and follow the instructions.
    2. Next restore the device to factory state - This can be done by going to the idle state and entering *#7370#. This affects more than Mail for Exchange. All data is wiped from device, but most will be recovered during the next step (but not all). Applications the user has added may not be restored and will have to be reinstalled. This depends on if application author supports the backup feature.
    3. Now perform a restore – Insert the same memory card that was used for the backup. Then use Menu-Tools-Memory-Options-Restore…
    4. Finally, the Mail for Exchange password must be re entered. It is not backed up for security reasons.
Unfortunately, in difficult cases, performing only step 2, then reinstalling Mail for Exchange may be the only solution.

  • N80: Do I need operator specific firmware upgrade?

    Hi,
I just had a nightmare with my local Nokia service center.
After ringing last week and being told they had the new N80 v4 firmware, I dropped the phone off yesterday morning to get it upgraded. I won't go into details, but it was so badly mismanaged, I missed a business meeting at 5pm, they told me it would be done on 4 separate occasions and then - they couldn't do it because it was an Orange branded phone.
Is this the case? Do I have to wait for a specific Orange version of the new N80 firmware? How will this affect the FOTA aspects once Nokia support it?
    Regards
    J>

If you handset is Network branded then the service point will only install the update that is authorised by the Network. this has always been the case. So it would look like Orange would need authorised that firmware update for their handsets.
I think it has something to do with braking the warranty you have with your network provider.
When receive a handset from your network provider, you are agreeing to use that phone with their software installed to get the full service. By debranding it your network can refuse to give you support. I'm my case I lost my handset and got a new one from my insurance. this one was not branded so when I call my network for help with mms/gprs setting they refused on that one detail.
Now I just stick to Generic handset, a lot les hassle.
    Peace Out

  • HT1237 I have a iMac8,1.  Am needing to update firmware from 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later.

I have an iMac 8,1.  Am needing to update firmware from 10.5.8 to at least 10.6 for new printer.  Help.

I'm afraid what you've asked about is not firmware. Rather it's OS X - the operating system.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • N73 firmware on O2

Had a very long conversation today with O2 regarding the new 003 firmware and the bottom line is they wont approve it due to legal reasons (apparently only Orange have) so dont expect to see any official firmware updates anytime soon for the N73, cos it aint gonna happen! this ties in with a reply I received from Nokia stating that they had no plans on releasing the firmware on the NSU.
On the upside O2 said I could have a swap for another similar priced model handset due to the fact the problems wont be sorted anytime soon.

    was this o2 in UK?
    or elsewhere in EU?
i hope the same stuff doesnt apply to o2 in germany
