Needing two Apple ID's, but still want stuff to sync on icloud.

Hello,
My wife and I both have iphones.  We have been using the icloud with the same Apple ID on both devices for convience when it comes to buying apps and downloading stuff.  Yesterday we purchased an ipad.  I sent her a message in Messages, and it showed up on her phone as herself.  Then when she texted me, it showed up on the ipad and iphone from her as me.  I sent her another message and it came up as me again.  So we thought the problem was fixed.  I texted her from my phone this afternoon, and she said it came to her as herself again.  I figured the solution would be to create an Apple ID for her and then problem solved.
Here's the issue......
We sync all of our contacts and our calendars together on all devices.  We have been doing this for a while and it is of great convinience to have the same address book, and the same calendar so we know everything is together all in the same place.  I am afraid that if we have different Apple ID's that this will no longer be possible.  Has anyone else ever encountered this, and if so, is there a known solution that I could set up so that all three devices were still syncing, but the messages weren't all messed up?

He needs to use one Apple ID. It would be best to use the new one. He will not "lose" anything connected to the old Apple ID, but if he needs to update anything he will need to do so using the old Apple ID. Otherwise, he can re-purchase everything using the new Apple ID. A call to Apple Support may help with a better solution, but that is the only way to do so.

  • I reset my Apple password AGAIN, but still am unable to sign into iCloud and have been frozen.

I need to buy more storage but have been frozen out of my iCloud account as it won't accept yet another updated Apple password. I also need to update my user name as it is a former email address. Any suggestions? This is so aggravating!

I tried the reboot, but iCloud is still not accepting my password. I'm thinking I must have a different password for iCloud but it's not accepting any that I've used or ever used. Grr! Will have to call support.

  • Have two i phones owned by one person.  Gave older I phone 4 to spouse.  All synced items going to both phones.  Created two different Apple ID Accounts but still having problems.  Bought more icloud for one device but it went to the other one didnt need

How can i seperate to i phones that have been synced together.  I created two different Apple Id accounts but for instance my icloud purchase didnt go to the phone i needed it to go to

If you look at Settings > iCloud on each phone, is the Account different? The Apple ID listed there should control iCloud storage allocation.  [I assume your "icloud purchase" was more storage capacity.]
The Apple ID is separately specified to control iMessage, iTunes and App Store purchases, etc.

  • Can I have two apple id's but still use the same itunes

My mom just got an iPhone. We use the same iTunes but can we both have different Apple ID's and still use the same iTunes??

Log in and out of the iTunes Store as needed; content purchased from both can exist in the same library and on the same device.
If you've purchased an application under one ID, you may need to be logged into it to make in-app purchases. If the iTunes library contains protected content from more than five Apple IDs, iTunes may not allow devices to be fully synced.

  • I have two Apple IDs, and this is causing problems with syncing via iCloud. How do I move everything to one ID? All advice is for setting up, not for after it's already set up.

My problem is that I have been a Mobile Me user for the past couple of years, and because of that a second Apple ID was generated in addition to the one I've been using for years. When iCloud was introduced last fall I did everything I was supposed to in setting it up, but it is evident that the syncing is not working as it should. In checking, I am certain this is because I now have two active Apple IDs. I would assume this is a common issue with all who were/are Mobile Me users.
The online help says you can't merge two IDs. Okay. What I want to do is to get rid of the Moble Me ID and only use my regular Apple ID. But the help on that issue seems to only give instructions for setting up the iCloud account. It seems that when I go into my iCloud accounts, both on my iPhone and my Mac, I can view the ID but there is no way to change them to another ID or to eliminate the account.
Please help. I am a long-time Apple user and this really should be a fairly simple matter to take care of, but this is one issue where the normally user-friendly Apple way of life is giving me fits. Thanks.

I am logged into the same things on both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro, except for mail. I use a gmail IMAP account and everything there already works on both machines. The iCloud account on my iPhone uses one Apple ID and the one on the Mac uses the second Apple ID.

You will probably find better support about the features of the Webex app on their support page here: http://www.webex.com/products/web-conferencing/mobile-iphone-ipad-faq.html
Doesn;t look like it's listed as a feature of the iPad app.

Yes, your entire family can use one AppleID just for purchases in the iTunes and App Stores, then each of you can use your own unique AppleIDs for all other services (iCloud accounts, iMessage accounts and so on).
You can have as many AppleIDs as you wish (or have email addresses for), and you can use a different one for each service Apple offers, if you wished to.
By doing what you suggest, you also limit the number of AppleIDs with payment information associated with them, so there is only one single AppleID that can be compromised that way.  Keeping one AppleID for purchases and another (with no payment information tied to it) for everything else is not a bad practice for anyone to follow.

  • I have two different 5s's with two different phone numbers but they are both using the same iCloud/apple account. After upgrading to iOS8 when I get a phone call on one phone both phones ring.

I have two different 5s's with two different phone numbers but they are both using the same iCloud/apple account. After upgrading to iOS8 when I get a phone call on one phone both phones ring. One phone is for work and one is for private and I don't need both phones to ring from one call. It's bizarre.......is this supposed to be like this? If so where can I turn it off?? And while we are at it iOS8 has installed iBooks on both of my phones and iTunes won't let me uninstall it. I don't need or want iBooks on my phones.

    Hi,
There are two easy fixes to this.
One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT1349 I have two Apple itunes accounts and I want to merge them in to one.

I have two Apple itunes accounts and I want to merge them in to one.  How do I do this.

You cannot merge Apple ID's. Copied from Apple's FAQ about Apple ID's.
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.

  • How do I create a new account for an iPod that is on an existing account?  My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased.

My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own separate account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased over five years.

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so.  You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to.  Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.

You can't merge Apple IDs.  What you could do is set up your phone to use the same iCloud accout you are using on your Mac.  To do this, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all synced data (Contacts, Calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone.  When everything is off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Now add the iCloud account you set up on your Mac (with the same Apple ID) and turn syncing back on for Calendars, Contacts, etc.  When prompted, you will probably want to choose merge, to merge the data on your phone with the existing data on this iCloud account.

why when i want to sync my phone with the computer it wants to delete all my apps how do i not let this happen. this is a different computer to the 1 i always use. i have authorised this computer but still wants to delete my apps

Why you can't redownload? Don't you have the Apple ID that used to download these apps?
You can "transfer purchaces" by right click on your iphone in iTunes but i guess you computer is not authorized and will ask you to authorize with Apple ID. Try it.

  • HT204053 I've got a new Iphone but still want to use my Ipod, can I have music and apps on both and if so how do I update them both?

Hi, I've just upgraded to an Iphone 4s but still want to use my Ipod. Can you have music and apps on both and if so how do you keep them updated? Is there a step by step guide anywhere? Thanks

"Can you have music and apps on both "
    Yes.
"how do you keep them updated?"
    Not sure what you mean.
"Is there a step by step guide anywhere? "
    Guide for what?
Sync each of them as always.  There is no need to do anything, just sync them to your computer.
