Needs idea of incororating Embedded Oracle in a Product

I need some idea:
The scenario is that I have a Telecom Product.I need to incorporate Embedded Oracle with the Telecom Product.
Can anyone give me some approach how i should go with it?

Is this a system for use by telephone companies, for example reconciling service usage with billed revenue, or is it a downloadable mobile application?

Hi all !
I just need a help regarding the Oracle 10g Lite product from Oracle.
I need to work on a Java/J2EE project that requires an Oracle DB as backend. I recently came to know about Oracle Lite and want some suggesstions.
My requirements:
1. I need a local Database in my "laptop". Can this software be used for that purpose.
2. I should be able to create a new schema with some tables and procedures (I thnk this is possible in Oracle Lite).
3. I have a Windows XP Home Edition. I read in many threads that Oracle Products do not work on Windows XP Home Edition. How true is this ?
4. Is Oracle Lite appropriate for my requirement.
I am reading the Oracle Lite white pages to find out more info. Please share your thoughts on this.

Operating system: One of the following 32-bit Windows operating systems:

The OS is my prob. I got Windows XP Home Edition !

Need ideas for new PJC/Java Beans

Hello everybody,
I am always looking for new ideas about the Java Bean and PJC stuff. Sometimes I have good ideas about this, but sometimes it is quite a pain to find something new and innovative.

Need help for switching to Oracle Apps

Hi All,
I am a System Analyst working in Singapore for the last 6 yrs.Currently for the last 3+ years i am in the project implementation & support team for ERP Team.We are using JD Edwards.Currently i have the role of Functional Consultant.
I want to shift to Oracle Apps (11i).The reason being there is not much scope in JD Edwards.Intially i was working in Developer 2000 as a Forms/Reports Developer.
I couple of questions to ask :
1) Do i need to go though a Oracle Apps Training as i already have experience in Jd Edwards ??
2) Can somebody recommend some good Training institutes in Singapore with Placement Assistance ??
3) Do anybody knows any company in Singapore who can give training in Oracle Apps and take in professionals who want to make a switch but have experience in another ERP package ??

Hi,
As you said you were initially working on Developer2000 so it would be lot easier since there would enough background on PL/SQL,forms and reports.Best thing for you I would recomend is pick 2 or 3 modules of your area in JD Edwards like Financials(General Ledger,Recievables,Purchasing,Payables,Fixed Assests...) or HRMS Suite(HRMS,Payroll,Advanced Benefits) which I believe the core business logic for any ERP would be the same. So pick your strong modules in JD Edwards and go through the Oracle Apps Doc. which is available online.In the documentation you will find Application Developer Guide which will be helpful if you are looking to be an Technical Person or you can go through the Module wise documentation if interested in Functional position. Either case better to have overall idea about interested module I mean how the logic and setup will be.
Initially it will be rough however if you don't give up Apps is lot easier.

Embedded Oracle database

Hi All,
I'm working as a DBA in a product base company.
Recently my Manager told me, they are planning to embed our Oracle database with one of the application.
Our environment is Oracle SE 11.1.0.6, 2 Node RAC,ASM and depends upon the customer's transaction the size of the database will be any were between 1~2TB.
I went through few documents regrading Oracle Embedded Database and have a few doubts regarding that.
1. Is it advisable to use embedded DB for a database size of 2TB?
2. Will we able to attain the self managed database concept by configuring space management,backup and recovery, performance with the help of scripts. I know this part is bit difficult. But will we able to attain this for an OLTP environment ?
3. Do we need to involve people from Oracle to develop the embedded Oracle database or we can only do that?
4. Im I missing anything important other than above ;-)

Oracle Embedded Database - that's what they call the old Berkeley DB, right?

I would have thought this sort of switch would be a big thing.

As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname,sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)

Need ideas and stuff for a new laptop or netbook.

Need ideas. I'm lookin to buy a new laptop soon. Next couple months. I want something that runs good, runs fast, doesn't have a lot of junk installed on it and something below $700 dollars (may pay more...just depends). Any brands that are good? I thought maybe getting a netbook because I really just need some small storage and an awesome internet. Would a netbook be good for that? I use verizon wireless on my laptop right now but I'm going to switch to AT&T soon.

In todays world of Net Books, 250 GB and 2 gb configurations are becoming standard. However, a majority of the Net Books out there still have the standard 1gb and 160gb hard drive configurations. You can upgrade the hard drives and memory in the newer Acer Netbooks now because of the redesign the did to the casing. The 8.9 inch net books Acer came out with could not allow the hardware upgrades because of their initial proprietary casing design. But with hacking and warranty voiding someone did it.
The bare minimum price you can expect to pay for a Net Book is $299 on average for the majority specs I posted. For better specs you will pay more for them.
Please always buy an optical drive with a Netbook or purchase a $399 laptop in the end for better flexibility.

i need the one report in oracle bam, My report requirement is show the employee name and employee name count from employee data object.
below i have mentioned the format of report,
Example :
Employee_name Employee_name_count
Ravi 25
Ragul 50
Ramesh 100
Siva 75
<null> 50 -----> incase have the null value in employee name column,
need to disply null count also
total 300
Notes:
i) Column heading is important
ii) Need to display the employee name and employee name count (same column used to display)
iii) Null count also important.
iv) total count also important
So kindly tell me which report format or chart format sutiable for this above scenario.

You can use Summary crosstab view of BAM for your requirement.
Here are the steps that -
1) I am assming a data object with two fields -
name count
pravin 25
pravin1 50
null 20
2) In BAM ActiveStudio web apps, create a new report, selected Summary crosstab view type.
3) In View editor, select the data object created in step 1
4) In Choose Fields step, select the rows (here name )and values (here count)
5) In Summary step, select teh Values as count, summary function as Sum
6) Next and Finish.

Certain files which need to be reinstalled by oracle universal installer

I am applying patch and getting error......
10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) Patch Set 3 for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) on 10.2.0.1.0.
ERROR:
Certain files which need to be reinstalled by oracle universal installer
are being used by one or more running services'. It contains a list of 30 services. All oracle services are already shutdown.
I have stopped all Oracle services, set it to manual, and restarted the system...but am getting the same error again...
I am trying it since yesterday...but really tired of this error. what could be the reason...

Dear Sri,
We have compiler, linker etc for every language starting of from C or C++ or Java. JDK has all the tools necessary to develop and run a Java program. Similarly Java Card Development Kit has all the tools for developing and deploying a Java Card applet. But what an IDE does is too integrate all these tools and make it easier for the JavaCard programmer to develop his applets. Just like Eclipse is used for Java applet development.And not everytime the code is burned to the card. Its only during masking code is burned to the card, i.e if u can call it burning. Masking makes an applet permanent on the card.
