Ok so I plugged my iPod into my windows xp pc today and a message popped up that says I need to reformat it to work on windows. My problem is that Ive been using it with windows ever since I got it. It has never been connected to a mac and I have never had this problem before. I even tried using xplay 2 to access it but the program just freezes. Does anyone know anything that could help me?!?!? I really dont wanna restore it because I couldnt back it up because i dont have enough hdd space for 80 gigs of music and if I have to restore it I will lose it all. PLEASE HELP ME!
P.S. After the message comes up saying i need to reformat a window that says autoplay comes up and shows a little progress bar then disappears.

I don't want to seem like the bearer of bad news, but this demonstrates the need to back up your library. An iPod can be a fickle instrument, and can fail, as evidenced by these forums. A lack of a backup to your library means that if the iPod fails, you wil loose your music. Also, the costs of external USB drives has dropped significantly, to the point that you could almost get a terabyte of storage for the cost of a 160GB iPod. That would give you a place to store and/or backup your music library. This would allow you to restore your iPod and re-sync your library.

Ipod needs to be formatted to work with windows

Today I was walking home, listening to my ipod and suddenly it turned off. But I thought "must be out of power". So I put it in my windows based computer and I get a small window saying that my ipod needs to be formatted to be used on windows, and that opening itunes will fix it. So it hit OK and itunes opens, and hangs for a good 3 minutes or so, and my ipod still doesn't show up in the "my devices" tab. I am using the latest itunes and have tried repairing itunes through the installer, if anyone could post some support, it would be greatly appreciated.

Using ATV2/3 with non-HDMI Receiver and theater projector and also need iTunes downloaded movies to work. I'm thinking to use the Toslink digital out for surround sound and an HDMI to RGB converter for video but not sure the iTunes DRM will prevent?

I would like to be able to buy HD movies on iTunes and watch them by streaming via Apple TV3. My plan is to capture surround sound from the TosLink digital out, which my preamp/receiver can handle. For the video, I need to convert the HDMI to RGB component to feed my receiver.
This is where iTunes DRM and HDCP issues might arise. I am under the impression that I need an non-HDMI compliant converter so that ATV3 can even talk to my receiver. It is my understanding that this is possible and takes care of the HDCP issue. But what about the DRM issue? All I want to do is buy and watch HD movies, no bad intentions. I find it incredible that iit might not be possible.
Anyways, is there a 100% certain approach even if it costs up to $300-400. Again, changing hardware is a non-starter so please avoid the obvious "buy an HDMI amp and projector".

JNI Works for application, but not when used over Tomcat...

I am having problems getting JNI to work when I try to run a Servlet that invokes native calls.
I have a small, simple java program, just to test the waters, that simple calls a small shared library. It works like magic when I run the program as a simple application.
However, when I turn it into a Servlet, I get the following runtime errors:

Now, just to be sure, I removed the native call from the servlet, and ran it again...no problem this time. So I know that it has to be the native call that is causing this.
I have to say that I am still a bit new to JNI (book is in the mail form amazon still, hehe)...any ideas would really be appreciated.
I have a feeling that this may have little or nothing to do with JNI...but it seems to be related in some way.

Well, I have came to the same conclusion, that the problem that I am having is directly related to the security policy that Tomcat runs under.
However, I have not been able to figure out exactly what I need to change....
I have altered the tomcat.policy file in a number of ways, including (for testing purposes) allowing full permission on the site that has the JNI servlet on it.
I have also done the same for the folder containing the shared library, I don't know if mattered, but I tried to be sure.
At this point, I have ordered a number of books from Amazon that should (hopefully) have some answers, but it is still a bit confusing that after allowing all permissions (and rebooting) that it still failed to work.
Dose anyone know how that you would allow native methods to be called in a policy file?

OS 10.3 works with Linksys but when startup using 9.2.2 won't work

I apologize if I'm on the wrong forum. I don't know if what I'm asking applies to Express or Extreme--all I know is that I have an airport card in my laptop. I have a wirless airport card in my old titanium G4 and it works fine with my Linksys SRX router when I'm running 10.3. When I start in 9.2.2 (which I have to do to run the version of Virtual PC I own) I can't seem to get the computer to talk to the Linksys. I set appletalk to airport and TCP/IP to airport and DHCP but when I type in the password for the router it says it can't go to the network. Any thoughts? I used to use the 9.2 side with an airport base station that has since died and I hadn't used the 9.2 since I bought the linksys. Thank you.

You need to be running 10.3 or later to connect to a WPA encrypted network, a Mac running OS 9.22 will only be able to connect to a WEP encrypted network.

My HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work right anymore. I always used it with my Picasa 3

For some reason my HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work with my Picasa 3, and it used to. My PC is also an HP Pavilion g6, with Windows 7. I tried downloading a new driver, as the CD was too old to have Windows 7, and also updating my Picasa, but none of that worked. I'm trying to scan an old photo. I'm just not having any luck at all, and it used to work like magic.

3rd gen Nano needs iTunes 7.6 or later... but can't use 8 on 10.4.11 osx

My son received a 3rd gen nano as a gift. When we connected it to our Mac (where we already support a couple ipods), it was not recognized as a source, although it does show up on the desktop and the iPod immediately said "Connected.". But, a message popped up that stated that "The ipod cannot be used without installing iTunes 7.6 or greater. Go to www.itunes.com" So we went to download iTunes - the only option is version 8. I installed it on the Mac - or tried to. Turns out you need a newer version of QuickTime to do so. But the newer version of QuickTime requires a newer OS than we have. So we ended up leaving the Mac with iTunes 7.5 on it. My dilemma - how can I get iTunes 7.5 version on the new iPod? Or what do I need to do to the iPod to get it to be recognized in iTunes. Sorry to be a dunce - I tried opening the iTunes 7.5 icon on my desktop and selecting the iPod as the installation place but it wouldn't let me. I really don't want to spend $130 upgrading the OS when everything else works just great. Any ideas?

Download and install the Mac version on the Mac. You are allowed to have two working installations, and they can be mixed platforms for a Cloud subscription.

Spry accordion works in template, but not pages using that template

So I added a spry accordion to one of my templates and changed the script to default closed. It works great. In the template. But not in any of the pages using that template. Basically I can see the content in the accordion on the page as if there is no accordion at all. And I can see the script and html telling me an accordion should be there. It just isn't. I can see the framework when in edit mode. But in live mode, it's like there's not there but the content.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS6.
Any thoughts?

Add-On works on debugging but disonnects when use ard file

Hi all,
I have created a selection on the User Menu "Extract Crystal Report" which calls an .exe file and opens a .rpt file.
When I run the code on debugging environment it works fine.
However, when I compile the code and use the ard file on SAP, by choosing "Extract Crystal Report" on the user menu the Add-On disconnects.
Has anyone faced that issue again?
