Yeah sorry. I felt a bit square not having an alias and found out that you couldn't change so I had to make a new apple id.
Having said that I do also think this user forum is fantastic too.
BTW I use Logic with a MacBook Pro & the yamaha 01X and the random offset problems/mLan issue notwithstanding it is a fantastic combination for composing, recording, mixing, mastering etc.
JUst waiting for powercore to make macintel drivers and I will be totally rocking.

Agree... Rocky start in the transition for me due to the accounts merge. I was frustrated and furious since things didn't work and there was no time in my schedule for an unexpected week long hiatus of service and it was tough to get support. Replies were slow and the experience level of the help seemed thin. Now I must say that I'm more pleased. I always loved adobe and I am really beginning to see and experience that the choice to go BC was the way to go. I truly want to thank all the folks making this possible. Things are looking up and it is only going to get better; no doubt. I really appreciate the assistance from the support staff as well as from the unpaid posters like you Brad, Mario (and others of course, too many to name...) that make this a great, usefull and worthwhile community. I think I have two Apple IDs but must have typed in the wrong birthdate when I created my main one, because I can't recover it, but need to.

I have read all the Apple ID support notes, but cannot find how to recover my account in my case. I mistakenly thought I should change my AppleID to my new email, and when I tried to do that, I lost the thread. I recieved a verification email sent to my new email (so it must have added ok) but when I go to change my password, I never get that confirmation email. So when I try to access the account by answering security questions, I must have typed in the wrong birthdate way back when, and I can't get past that screen. What now? I seem to be able to access an AppleID that does not include any of the games I've purchased over the years, so it must be a newer one I inadertently set up. Thus, I haven't been able to access my main working account for awhile now, and I really want to buy some things and have them on my iPad & new iPhone. How do I get access to my old account with all my past purchases in it?

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account. On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account. If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to. It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?

Raw updates needed for CS5 and Elements 11?

I have several adobe products. I want to install the latest raw updates for CS5 Photoshop and Elements 11. The app. manager tells me I have the latest updates. My CS6 product updated the newest raw product but not my others. I would like to get phone support for these issues - is there a phone number that connects to real people? The %^*()^ support section on the web takes me around in circles - very frustrating. Any help out there?

the good old argument is at what point do you stop supporting stuff? Elements is now up to 13.
I assume Adobe would argue you have cc already why are you still using cs5?
As I read it, the new 8.7 raw is only good for cs6 and above. They won't make 2 versions of raw, so I assume you are still on 7.4 for cs5?
On that basis, alas stick with your cs6 to do the newer stuff you need.

'User failed to respond' (error -8) - a serious issue that needs attention

Based on the various posts here it is becoming increasingly apparent that, in most cases, this is not a user defined issue related to incorrect router settings/port configurations etc..
There also appears to be a fairly conspicuous correlation between upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.7/Qtime 7.1.2 and the onset of problems with iChat. It is particularly notable that many people have been using iChat successfully for some time and that it has all of a sudden ceased working despite no manipulation of parameters related to network access (other than those associated with the 10.4.7 software upgrade of course).
In summary, it appears that that the 10.4.7 upgrade has rendered iChat inoperable (possibly through altering the nature of communication with wireless routers? I have’nt noted if anyone with hardwired connections have been experiencing these problems).
I am not an expert in this area, so apologies if I am stating the bleedingly obvious (or, at the other end of the spectrum, if I'm completely off the mark). Nonetheless, this appears to be a serious, global issue that is affecting an increasing number of people in the same way despite having different routers, ISP's etc.. and it is something that needs addressing.
Is there anything in the pipeline on this yet? Or is it still being handled on a case-by-case basis, which, while appreciated, has not been successful in any way thus far.
Some sort of formal response re: what steps are being taken to correct this would certainly be appreciated by many it appears.

I can still chat to other buddies running Tiger, but no longer can chat to buddies on AIM PCs or buddies running Panther -- buddies I have been chatting to for more than a year without a single problem.
I also tested against the automatic clients on Ralph John's great website: appleu3test01 works fine, rjinwipc doesn't.
I have tried using the 10.4.7 combo update -- no luck. I have even tried reverting my iChat & its libraries back to 10.4.6 using Pacifist. Same problem. Alas, I am on a group wireless router that I am not allowed to administer, so I can not try any of Ralph's port opening tricks... So, short of reinstalling the entire OS, I am stuck.
Given the large number of people who are reporting this erorr recently, clearly, the 10.4.7/QT 7.1.2 updates have broken iChat for many, many people. Apple needs to step up and:
1) acknowledge they have broken something
2) build a "revert to 10.4.6 installer", as they did with QT a few months ago.
3) publish an official workaround (if the port opening works)
4) give us a timeline for a patch ASAP

[help needed] bin32-gsopcast

I've tried to build the gtk frontend for sopcast for arch64 without much luck. I adapted the i686 pkgbuild from abs but it won't compile. I'm afraid I don't really know my way around 32-bit builds for arch64.

I get the same error messages if I set lib32-gtk2, lib32-cairo and lib32-alsa-lib as dependencies, although I'm not sure if that's required. bin32-gmlive doesn't seem to want this, yet bin32-skype does want them. I am thinking as a simple frontend, it shouldn't be needed, but as said I'm not really all that clued up on 32-bit apps for 64-bit.

Another bus issue that needs attention

Every time I copy and paste a schematic sheet for replication which includes predefined bus data names and nets, the paste function keeps clearing the bus name to the default offpage connector and/or bus defaulted increment bus number 1, 2, 3, etc etc. This is very annoying and each page has to have it restored.
Now if there are bus entries, there should be an autoincrement the value place holder with a suffix number appended. I.E. data1, data2 >>>>>>> dataXX.
Either way the bus names should NOT be cleared because of a copy and paste, isn't that really the point?
Also, there should be an autoincrement option for bus net entries, so I have 8 bus entries that start with "address", then I should be able to select all with suffix/prefix assign to bus direct within the vector connect function. (adds to feature list of my previous thread)

Column Security - Users can't see it, but need to use it in the query WHERE Clause

I am looking at possible solutions (if any) on column security. We need to be able to restrict users from seeing certain columns, however, they will need these columns in the WHERE clause of queries.
I thought about creating views, however, it would be a poor database design. Is there any way that this can be done on the database level. I know about Fine Granular Access Method, however, this just excludes the column completely. Which means that they can not be used in the WHERE clause.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Need help authorizing Logic Pro 7

Hello everyone,
I have purchased a version of Logic Pro 7.
I have the install and content dvd's and XSkey. When I install the software and launch the program it is asking for an activation code which I do not have.....Can someone please help?
I need to find the answers to how i can get a new code from the XSkey to authorize the program.
The guy that i purchased from said that this is all i should need.
I have read the same on several blogs...
Need info on how to make this work.

That means the XSKey never got a final license and that the demo expired. There were only two possible options:
The XSKey is damaged. You could have used the XSKey Updater http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23387 to check and repair the XSKey, if needed. That said: the XSKey servers http://xskey.apple.com are long gone and so this doesn't work anymore.
Return the copy and say that it doesn't contain a full license.
Sorry. I hope you didn't spend a significant amount of money on it (considering that Logic Pro 9 only cost $199)

Restore Needed but Can't proceed.

Hello, when I turned on my iPhone 3G (2.2) this morning, it displayed 'Restore Needed' message and said that it cannot make or receive calls. When I plugged in to my computer to do a restore with iTunes. iTunes told me to unlock the phone with my password since my iphone is protected. The issue is that I have no where to input this password on the iPhone!! The only screen that iPhone is showing is the Emergency Call keyboard. So I am stuck. I tried to reboot the iPhone but no success.
Can someone help me please or experienced the same issue?

thanks for the advice! pressing the home button brought the phone to forced restore mode. I had to press it for a really long time- maybe 4 minutes. but since the apple store is closed, I really had no other hope.
now it's trying to restore, and I'm crossing my fingers that that works!

Please. Need some advice from those in the know. QT movies. Workflow

I have been fighting this workflow for some time. Must be a better one. I produce a football highlite show using iWeb to stream it. It is very popular in my small town but a real hassle to webcast. I shoot and edit in the XDCAM HD format. Editing goes well until exporting begins. There are so many options. I am lost. Do I export right from FCP? do I use QT Pro to export? Compressor. Here is the workflow I have been using: Export ref movie out of FCP ( this is not working well with Snow Leopard) crashes and locks up.
Then I used to use QT Pro to export 480 x 320 movie. Then...I exported again as a hinted movie. Then upload in iWeb. File sizes per quarter were just a bit under 100 megs. You're spending a lot of money. I will add my 2¢ -- -- but you must, as I assume you know, fully research your options.
Environment:
Start with your workspace (inc. lighting) and your clothes.
Screen:
The iMac screens are lovely, but not, from what I hear, monitor-grade accurate. For critical color work, use NEC or Eizo monitors. I use NEC, with their SpectraView II software and an X-Rite ColorMunki photospectrometer. At the time, this was the least expensive color-calibrated workflow.
Printer:
Epson's are great, imho. I use a 3880 in my studio and rent a 9900 by the hour when needed. I have read of problems (iirc) with one of the printers in the 7000 line, however. The take-home lesson that I filed in my brain was, "If you're going to spend the money on the 7000 line, just get the 9000 line."
Aperture workflow:
Aperture is a fantastic workflow tool. Since you are adept with PS, you should set PS as your external editor. Use Apertures formidable tools for storing and organizing your Images, and its robust editing tools for either all your proofing, or all but your most demanding editing needs. That said, allow a good bit of time to get the feel of Aperture. It is not at all like Bridge. But your important choice is which RAW converter you want to use. There is, imho, no reason to use Aperture if you are going to use Adobe's (or anyone else's) RAW converter.

McAfee - I know it's been said before but...

... I think it needs to be said again.
I have many customers calling in a panic about Fake AntiVirus software on their machines. I've trained them to recognize their installed AV software and contact me if they see anything different. It took me a little while to figure out why McAfee was being installed on their machines, but now after upgrading Flash myself I see why. Not only that, but some of my customers have complained about McAfee disabling their installed AV.
The average user has no idea that they need to opt-out, nor should they need to worry about it! The right thing to do would be to have an opt-in, otherwise it really looks like Adobe wants to catch people who don't pay attention. This behavior is intrusive and unscrupulous and it will be a major factor on purchase decisions and recommendations for Adobe software at my company in the future.
I mean really, how dare you take advantage of people like this then blame them because they didn't read the page?

Really, we don't. This is a user-to-user forum, and Adobe will not change their policy, no matter how many times you complain to your fellow users.
Complain to Adobe, or educate your customers.

Hello, i have built a new machine and now after a few days i think my graphic card died. Computer starts with gpu fan at 100% but thats about it, screen is blank.
Havent tried to switch graphic card yet, gonna buy a cheap one tomorrow, i suspect the psu but it should be ok, hmm =)

It should be able to handle 41A on +12v1 and +12v2 together and max 530W (52.5A) on all 12V at once.
I am not very good at explaining in english but the psu should be high quality and was best rated by a swedish oc site.
Before i bought this i read alot on different sites to find out if i needed 26A on one rail or not and some said it was needed and some said
it works great with just a high quality psu.
I have also tried to remove everything except the graphic card, cpu, memory, and tried it with only 1 stick.

I solved it, thanks for the replies. Dont know what was causing it, i removed the motherboard from the case and it worked.
But there are still some issues, but i dont know what =) I have tried to overlock also but it isnt going very well, i dont know why its failing if it is the memory or if i dont give enough voltage... i made it boot at 4 ghz and the stress test with Orthos failed when memory was involved 8(
The thing i dont get is if i choose manual and set the ram memory at 800 mhz, does it stay there when i pick a higher fsb or does it secretly overclock =)
Also everytime i boot up vista 64, just before the login screen appears, when things work it fades nice to the login screen but when something is wrong it looks like a sick sack or how its spelled, pattern in black before the screen appears, even if i dont overclock at all.
Does any of you know what voltages that i should stick with? I would like to have the whole bios at manual but i dont know what most of the commands do, like the terminator, gtl settings =)
