NEF-Dateien in PSE 8 verarbeiten

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
ich besitze Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 und möchte darin RAW-Bilder aus meiner Camera Nikon D 5100 (NEF-Dateien) verarbeiten. Was kann ich tun? Was brauche ich an Software, Update usw? Vielen Dank für die Hilfe.

D 5100-Dateien werden in ACR-Version 6.4 und höher unterstützt. Während max-Version Selbstbedienungsbuffet PSE 8 unterstützt, ist 6,2 so Update nicht helfen würde, aber dennoch versuchen Help-> Updates und aktualisieren Sie Ihre Adobe Camera Raw-Version und prüfen einmal.

im Moment wohl gar nicht. Denn weder das aktuelle Camera-RAW noch der DNG-Konverter unterstützen die D4s (zumindest nicht, wenn man nach der Liste geht, s.u.)

Unter Umständen wird das neue Camera-RAW (falls höher als 8,x) auch nicht mehr kompatibel mit CS6 sein, so dass dann der Umweg über DNG notwendig wird.
Kann dir leider keine bessere Info geben (habe hier selber noch CS 6, aber die D7100)

NEF-Dateien der Nikon D 800 werden bei CS 6 nicht erkannt

Sowohl bei CS 5 mit Camera Raw 6.7 as auch bei CS 6 mit Camera 7.1 aus den Labs kann PS die NEF-Dateien der Nikon D 800 nicht erkennen. Habe schon alles komplett deinstalliert, wieder installiert, alles vorherige rausgeworfen, aber kein Erfolg... Habe Win 7, i7 auf 64 bit (an sich schon ein Problem) aber das hier ist schon sehr ärgerlich.... Wer kann mir bei dem Problem helfen..

Probleme beim Verarbeiten mehrerer Dateien in PSE 8

Hallo Leute,
ich habe einige alte Bilder digitalisiert und als .JPG Dateien in einem Ordner abgelegt. Nun will ich die Dateien alle in einem Durchgang mit PSE 8 verarbeiten Ich starte also die Funktion unter Datei --> ...mehrere Dateien verarbeiten und wähle dann den Quellordner aus, der nachweislich eine Vielzahl an .jpg enthält:
Ich erhalte nach Wahl des Quellordners aber sofort einen Fehlerhinweis, dass der Quellordner leer sein soll. In der Tat sind auch alle Inhalte der Ordner, die ich über die Auswahl geöffnet habe leicht gräulich, also wie inaktiv. Das betrifft nicht nur den gewählten Ordner mit den neuen Bildern, sondern praktisch alle Ordner mit Fotos.
Ich kann die Fotos einzeln öffnen oder auch aus der Bridge als Stapel, es ist aber scheinbar keine Stapelverarbeitung möglich. Warum nicht? Wäre super, wenn jemand dazu eine Idee hat. Da ich einige tausend Fotos von alten Negativstreifen und Dias digitalisieren will, kann und will ich die natürlich nicht alle einzeln bearbeiten.

Tags bei Tiff-Dateien in PSE 5

Hallo!
Ich benutze noch Photoshop Elements 5 und würde dies auch gerne weiter tun. Ich habe nun leider das Problem, dass sich der Organizer weigert, meine TIFF-Dateien aus einer Nikon D 300 mit Tags zu versehen, nachdem ich den Befehl "Tag und Eigenschafteninfos mit Foto speichern" angeklickt habe. JPEG-Dateien vom gleichen Foto werden anstandslos mit Tags versehen, TIFF-Dateien jedoch nicht. Ich möchte meine bearbeiteten Fotos aber auch in Zukunft gerne als TIFF-Dateien speichern. Kann mir jemand einen Tipp geben, wie dieses Problem zu lösen ist? Oder sollte ich die Tags mit einer anderen Software einfügen?

ich arbeite auch noch teilweise mit PSE 5, hatte aber noch nie Probleme mit dem "taggen" von TIFF-Dateien. Wenn ich dich richtig verstanden habe, besteht das Problem nur darin, die angelegten Tags mit dem genannten Befehl in die Bilddateien zu schreiben. Dass gar keine Tags erzeugt werden können, kann ich mir kaum vorstellen.
Was mich an deiner Problembeschreibung ebenfalls wundert: " ... meine TIFF-Dateien aus einer Nikon D 300 ... " Nach meiner Kenntnis* erzeugen Nikon-DSLR nur NEF (=RAW)- oder JPG-Dateien. Auf welchem Wege werden deine TIFF-Dateien tatsächlich erzeugt? Über Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) und PSE Editor oder mit Fremdprogrammen? Sind deine Problem-TIFFs vielleicht als 16bit-Dateien gespeichert oder gar mit JPG-Kompression
Bei weiteren Hinweisen deinerseits kann ich mal versuchen, dein Problem nachzustellen

Using Nikon D5200 NEF images in PSE

Hi
I currently have PSE8 which will not read the NEF images from my Nikon D5200. I know that I can use the Adobe DNG Convertor 7.3 to convert them to DNG outside of PSE8 then work with the DNG images in PSE8. However, I would prefer, if possible, to work directly with the NEF images as a plugin.

indicates that the Nikon D5200 requires the Raw Camera Plugin 7.3.
Q1 - Based on the above am I therefore correct that it is not currently possible to use Nikon D5200 NEF images directly in any currently available PSE?
Q2 - If, the answer to Q1 is Yes does anyone have a feel for whether its likely in the next version of PSE? Or would I have to save up for the full Photoshop program to do what I want?

Yes, photoshop elements 11 supports camera raw 7.3
You should be able to update pse 11 to camera raw 7.3 by going to Help>Updates from within the pse 11 editor if you should decide to trial and/or purchase pse11.

Cannot open NEF files in PSE 9

I have just installed a second version of my copy of PSE 9 on a laptop. When I try to open an NEF file I get the message 'Cannot open [file-name] because it is the wrong type of file'.
I can open these files on the version I have installed on my PC so am confused as to why this should be different on the laptop.
I understand I can get around this by converting the files to DNG format but I'd much rather open them directly in pse as I currently do on the version installed on my PC.
Is there any way to get this fixed?

Hi,
Are both PC and Laptop using the same version of Camera Raw - in the editor go to Help -> About Plug-in -> Camera Raw to check the version.
You may have updated your PC but not the Laptop - go to Help -> Updates
Failing that, please let us know which camera model you have.

Probleme mit Offnine-Dateien bei PSE 4

Hallo Community,
ich bin neu hier und habe folgendes Problem mit Photoshop Elements 4:
Um Speicherplatz freizugeben, habe ich mich entschlossen einen Teil meiner Fotosammlung auf eine DVD zu speichern. Dazu habe ich die Funktion brennen / backup benutzt, mit der Option Dateien verschieben. Im dritten Schritt habe ich als Ziellaufwerk mein DVD-Laufwerk ausgewählt und mit OK das Fortfahren bestätigt. Der Speichervorgang wurde mit Erfolg ausgeführt und die Prüfung des Datenträgers war OK. Im Organizer ist das Symbol für Offline-Dateien in den betroffenen Bildern zu sehen. Interessant wurde es anschließend, als ich eine Offline-Datei mittels der F11-Taste im Vollbildmodus anzeigen wollte. Nach dem Druck auf die F11-Taste wurde ich aufgefordert die entsprechende (richtige, beschriftete) CD/DVD einzulegen. Das habe ich gemacht, bin dann aber erneut aufgefordert worden: Legen Sie einen Datenträger ein (mit der entsprechenden Datenträgerbezeichnung). Das ganze ging immer so weiter, immer im Looping.
Ich habe mich mehrfach überzeugt. Es ist der richtige (beschriftete) Datenträger, auf dem auch im Explorer die einzelnen Dateien aufgeführt sind, die PSE auf dem Datenträger scheinbar nicht findet.
Nach mehreren Versuchen kam ich durch das Rattern und das Leuchten der LED am Diskettenlaufwerk schließlich darauf, dass PSE beim Einleseversuch nicht auf das CD/DVD-Laufwerk (es ist nur ein CD/DVD-Brenner eingebaut) zugegreift, sondern wohl auf das Diskettenlaufwerk. Das ist wohl ein Bug, oder? Ist das ein bekannter Fehler oder handelt sich es bei mir um einen Einzelfall? Eine Deinstallation mit anschließender Neuinstallation brachte diesbezüglich keine Besserung.
Jetzt machte ich mit einer kleinen (wegen dem begrenzten Speicherplatz auf der Diskette) Datei den Versuch, die zuvor auf DVD gebrannte Offline-Datei auf eine Diskette zu kopieren, die Datenträgerbezeichnung der Diskette anzupassen und diese bei der Aufforderung die CD/DVD einzulegen ins Diskettenlaufwerk (A:) zu schieben. Und siehe da: es hat die Datei geladen und im Vollbildmodus dargestellt.
Nachdem ich das nicht glauben konnte, habe ich zu Testzwecken eine Installation auf meinem Laptop gemacht. Auch hier das gleiche Ergebnis. Ein Variieren mit verschiedenen Datenträger CD-R, DVD-RW, CD-RW (von verschiedenen Herstellern) macht keinen Unterschied.
Da diese Offline-Datei-Funktion auch ein wesentliches Anschaffungskriterium für Photoshop Elements war, bin ich jetzt etwas ratlos. Gibt es eine Version von Photoshop Elements 4, die diese Funktion des Offline-Dateneinlesens beherrscht? Ich denke doch. Ich bin mit den restlichen Funktionen von PSE sehr zufrieden, nachdem ich im Vorfeld auch schon mit ACDSee experimentiert habe. Ich weiß, dass zwischenzeitlich ein Update auf Version 5 erhältlich ist, sehe dafür aber aus Kostengründen momentan keinen Anlass, zumal mir die in Version 4 vorhandenen Funktionen eigentlich reichen.
Kann mir jemand helfen?

es geht um das Kopieren einer Fläche in einem Foto in eine andere Fläche des gleichen Fotos.
Bei Photoshop Elements 5.0 geht das mit dem "Stempel-Icon". Ich hatte aber eine frühere Version von Photoshop, mit der das viel komfortabler funktionierte: Diese Version möchte ich kaufen, kenne aber nicht die genaue Bezeichnung.
Das Kopieren ging bei dieser früheren Version so: Auf die zu kopierende Fläche wurde ein Kreis gelegt. Dort, wo hin kopiert werden sollte, ein anderer. Per Mausklick konnte man dann kopieren. Abstand der Kreise voneinander, ihr Winkel und ihre Größe - alles konnte ganz flott per Mausklick variiert werden.
Kennt jemand diese Version und wie heißt sie?
Noch ein Tipp. Dort waren vier Tutorien drin, mit denen man richtig arbeiten konnte (also nicht nur Vorführungen, wie jetzt in Photoshop Elements 5.0). Eines davon war ein Stonehenge-Motiv, wo man einen anderen Himmel hineinkopieren konnte.

Opening .NEF files in PSE 3.0

I can do this via 'Graphic Converter' saving as a tiff file,but is there a way I can open the .nef file from a Nikon D90 directly in PSE 3.0 ?
I should point out that my ignorance of this subject is down to the fact that I shoot film,and don't possess a digital
camera.

Another option you might consider is downloading
the adobe dng converter 5.6.

This will convert the d90 files to adobe dng (adobe's camera raw format), which can
then be opened in photoshop elements 3, just like any other camera raw file.
I think the latest camera raw plugin for pse3 is 3.6.

You want to experiment with one file first, with the different compatibilty
modes in the dng converter, until you find the one that will open in pse3.

Keine Anzeige der Metadaten von nef-Dateien in Bridge

Seit kurzem bekomme ich folgende Fehlermeldung, wenn ich versuche meinen RAW-Dateien (Nikon nef) in der Bridge ein Stichwort zuzuweisen: "In der Datei XY.nef können keine XMP-Metadaten gespeichert werden."
Bisher war dies kein Problem und hat immer tadellos funktioniert; alle XMP-Filialdokumente sind auch noch vorhanden und Änderungen in der RAW-Datei werden auch dort hineingeschrieben (wie ich im Editor sehen kann). Aber in der Bridge werden keinerlei Metadaten mehr angezeigt!
Ich habe bereits die Bridge- u. Photoshop-Voreinstellungen zurückgesetzt und den Cache gelöscht.
Ich benutze Photoshop CS 6, Bridge 5.02 und ACR 8.7 - also die aktuellen Versionen. Betriebssystem MAC OS 10.7.5 (Lion).

Dass die Metadaten im XMP-Filialdokument aus irgendeinem Grund nicht mehr mit den entsprechenden Bilddateien verknüpft sind, bleibt trotzdem merkwürdig.
Übrigens kann ich in Bridge auch nicht mehr die Camera Raw-Voreinstellungen in der Menüleiste auswählen (sind grau hinterlegt). Die Bridge-Voreinstellungen gehen, und wenn ich die Camera Raw-Voreinstellungen in Photoshop oder bei geöffnetem Bild direkt in Camera Raw bearbeiten will, funktionieren auch diese ganz normal - nur eben nicht mehr aus Bridge ...

Processing Nikon Scan 4.0.2 NEF files in PSE 7 Raw Editor

I own a Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. The scan software Nikon Scan 4.0.2 can produce "raw" files with NEF extension. On the web I found some remarks concerning this file type stating that the scanner NEF is not really a raw file. A scanned pixel has already 3 color values, so there is no need for demosaicizing. It is stated that in fact the NEF file is a type of TIFF file instead.
Anyhow, importing this scanner NEF file in the PSE7 Adobe Camera Raw Editor seems to impose no problems. After editing the image can be saved including the editing parameters, so the original image may be restored or changed by repeated editing. By choosing "Done" the editing info is saved in a XMP file additional to the NEF file. You also may Save As DNG file containing the editing parameters together with the image data in a single file. The processed file may also be loaded into the Editor Workspace directly for additional fine tuning.
My question comes down to: is this is a viable solution for real raw processing of the scanned images. The scanner NEF file is not exactly raw, so I'm not sure whether or not the ACR Editor (or converter) handles the image data correctly. Does the ACR Editor know that the scanner NEF file is already demosaicized? And is the additional metadata (like colorspace) correctly interpreted?
Do you have experience with or knowledge about the quality of this type of workflow, please let me know. Any comments are welcome!

I understand that the output color data of a scanner is not really Raw. Contrary to camera's, scanners are reading linear RGB data so there is no need to convert or demosaice the data. May I conclude that the Nikon's proprietary "Raw" NEF format comes down to TIFF with embedded reversible editing parameters that can only be used in the Nikon Scan (editing) software?
Consequently, when importing the Nikon NEF's in ACR5.2 the embedded parameters are lost (possibly because ACR is not supporting the Nikon Scanner "Raw" format). So there is no advantage in using the NEF format and outputting in TIFF should be just fine.
Anyhow, I prefer using ACR as a start instead of the standard editor because of its fine and reversible editing tools. But how do I import TIFF's in ACR? When opening a TIFF in the PSE7 Editor, this file type is opened in the normal Editor. How do I switch to the ACR? Is it possible to save the ACR reversible editing parameters embedded in the same TIFF file or as accompanying XMP file ("Done") or should I "Save As" a DNG file.
And above all, can I be sure that the Color Management defined in Nikon Scan (sRGB, Gamma) is maintained while processing the file in ACR?

Since you can open any jpg or tiff file in ACR, I would guess that ACR handles these files exactly the same way, but that is just a guess.

D7000 NEF Files in PSE 7

Hi all! I just got a new Nikon D7000 and PSE7 isn't recognizing the NEF files. It has no trouble opening the files from my old D50. Yes, I updated the product and yes I installed Camera Raw 5.5 but it still isn't working. Any help would be much appreciated (before I toss my laptop out of the window in frustration...).

You would need to upgrade to PSE9. Alternatively you could download the Adobe DNG converter. I regularly use DNG raw files in Adobe editing software and the format works well. However I would recommend keeping your NEF files as your back-up copy.
