Negative display!

Somehow I've managed to change my display to negative, so the screen's black and everything else is the reverse of how it should be!
I must have pressed some sort of key combination - I think I was trying to get a symbol by using control/alt...
I can't get it back to normal - when I restart, it comes up normal for a while, then just switches to negative when the restart process finishes..
Any ideas anyone?!?!
Cheers!

Not to worry - a quick search for 'negative display' produced results to solve my problem (control-al-option-8 did the trick!)

  • PDF negative displays

    I use many PDF files in forScore for music. After uodating the iOS4 the PDFs generated from my printer scanner display as negatives (White on Black) TRied a file on iBooks and it does the same thing. PDF created from CutePDF Writer work file as do Exports from my word processor. Unfortunately over 200 of my scores are impossible to use. Their response follows, NOTE: I have not been a Beta tester.
    " This does appear to be a known issue with iOS 4.3 and PDF files using a CYMK color profile rather than RGB. This might sound like a crazy question, but did you ever use any of the beta versions of iOS 4.3? The confirmed cases of this bug that we've seen in the developer forums all relate to having installed one of the betas, even if those people later upgraded to the release version. In those cases, a fresh install was the only way to fix it. Otherwise, we'll see if there's any quick way to convert CYMK files over to RGB so that you can have a potential workaround until Apple figures this out. Sorry we don't have better news!
    Sincerely,
    MGS Development

    I am having the same issue with my pdf scanned music files. I use pdf sheet music reader to read music pages that I scanned in black and white not CYMK or RGB. They were fine until I updated to iOS 4.3. I also tried opening them in good reader and ibooks. No luck. I also never used beta versions either. Any luck finding out an answer to your problem?

  • Black negative displays on recent iPhones?

    I just got an iPhone today, 8gb, and it has black negatives, on the display like people were having with the iPod Touches.
    The blacks look just awful, whereas my iPhone before did not. Quite frustrating. I hope others are having better luck.

    Greetings scubastevie,
    Having had multiple iPhones with Geek Squad Protection plans, I can understand why you would be disappointed in being advised to take your phone to Apple, especially if the manufacturer’s warranty isn't valid. If we have the capability to help, we shouldn't be directing you to someone else when you've sought out assistance from us.
    Reaching out to the manufacturer is typically a great option, especially with an issue that is covered under a valid warranty, but it wouldn't make much sense to direct you there if it had expired. However, if our Geek Squad Protection plan doesn't cover the issue, we may direct you there to see if they may have any options available.
    I’m truly sorry if you encountered such an experience when attempting to use your Geek Squad Protection plans with your iPhone 5’s at the Chesterfield, MI store. It’s regretful to hear the replacement you received had issues, although I’m glad you were able to finally get it exchanged.
    I’m grateful that you've brought these experiences to our attention. While it is disheartening to hear you no longer feel that our Geek Squad Protection plans are worthwhile, I’m happy to hear you have some sort of protection for your iPhone 5s. I will be making sure to forward your concerns onto the Chesterfield, MI store’s leadership. If you should have any questions or concerns in the future, please let me know.

  • Reverse / Negative Display Colors

    Hi,
    I have no idea how my brother managed to screw up the color scheme on this computer. It seems all the colors are Negative of what they should be ( i.e. Blue displays as Yellow, white as black , and so on ) . I tried restarting the computer and on restart everything seems normal to the point that I guess it sets the color preferences , after which all the colors show up reversed.I tried going through system preferences and there is really nothing that I see that can cause this. I asked my brother how he managed to do this and he said he touched something on the keyboard?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Ok, I was going to unmark this as a question but figured someone else might have the same problem. It is fixed.
    Check System Preferences -> Universal Access and make sure you don't have the settings altered through keyboard shortcuts ( happens when someone tries to clean or dust keyboard while plugged in ). My problem was it was set as White on Black .

  • Negative Display Issue

    I have the late 2008 Macbook Unibody 13' before they were renamed and changed to MacBook Pro. This morning I woke to find a 1.5 inch section of the screen, top to bottom has blacked out and become inverted in colours. Occasionally flickering. I cannot do a screen shot as it shows a perfect image in the .jpg I believe its the screen/display itself as when I posh against it, it, flickers and disappears again. Does anyone know how to resolve this. This is the very first and only problem I ever had with my Mac. Please help and if I need to replace the screen, how much normally would something like that cost?

    Hi cylin
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
    Generally speaking, in these forums it's always better to start a brand new thread rather than tack on a new question on the end of an existing thread. There are two main reasons for this:
    1. There are too many threads for everybody to monitor every one for changes, so instead some people (like me) only bother to look at threads that have 0 replies so far on the assumption that someone else is answering the other thread. Posting a new thread means that it starts out with 0 replies and more people are likely to look at your question.
    2. If you start a new thread you can reward people who answer with points by clicking on the "Helpful" and "Solved" buttons. This option is only available to the person who first starts the thread.

  • Display Colors in Negative

    I've had my computer for less than a year. My MacBook suddenly changed in terms of its display colors. Rather than showing colors normally, I'm seeing my entire display in what looks like a photo negative. I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem. I've done all of the updates, and nothing has changed. When I initially restart it appears normal for just a moment, but then it changes to this "negative" display.
    Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you fix it?
    Thanks!

    I tried this option under Universal Access but this did not work for me.
    My situation is that it looks like colors are "blurred" for lack of a better word. I can see text as long it is not munged by colors.
    I thought it might be a resolution issue but I tried setting under Display in System Preference with no result.
    As some others have reported, the MacBook Pro can get very hot under the bottom so I am wondering if the heat messed up the display?
    Other ideas to look for? Thanks.

  • How do I get my mac screen back to normal from negative?

    I turned my back for a second and the next thing I see is my 19 month old with mouse in hand and my screen is in negative display. How do I get it back to normal?

    The keyboard command to make the switch is Command-Option-Control-8
    You can disable that keyboard command by going to System Preferences > Keyboard, click the Keyboard Shortcuts button near the top. Select Universal Access in the pane on the left, then uncheck the item "Reverse balck and white" in the pane on the right.

  • Help with my summer project

    I have three summer projects to do for my AP computer science clas next year and I'm already stuck on the first one. My first problem is that in the Quadratic Equation you write -b and then plus or minus (the root of b^2ac,etc) and I do not know how to write plus or minus in code. I tried doing (+||-) but that didn't work... I didn't learn much from my Java 1 and 2 teacher so I'm totally lost and VERY frustrated and any help would be extremely appreciated.
    P.S. This is what the project is---
    "Write a program that prints all real solutions to the quadratic equation ax(squared) + bx + c = 0. Read in a, b, c and use the quadratic formula. If the discriminate b(squared)-4ac is negative, display a message stating that there is no real solution.
    Implement a class QuadraticEquation whose construction receives the coefficients a, b, c of the quadratic equation. Supply methods getSolution1 and getSolution2 that get the solutions using the quadratic formula.
    Supply a method Boolean hasSolution() that returns false if the discriminate is negative.

    Sorry, I couldn't log back in for some reason so i made a new name. THis is what I have so far. It's nothing but it's all i can do.
    import java.io.*;
    public class QuadraticEquation {
         public static void main(String[]args) {}
         EasyReader reader = new EasyReader();
              double a;
              double b;
              double c;
              public void getSolution1() {
              System.out.print("Please Work");
              String line=reader.readLine();
              int acoeff=reader.readInt();
              QuadraticEquation.getSolution1();
              public void getSolution2() {
              boolean hasSolution() {
              //     int discriminate = -4;
                   //if(discriminate<0) {
                   return false;
    }

  • How to cram two bytes into a short?

    Hi all,
    I have some byte[] data that I am receiving, and I need to put two bytes into one short (or int, or whatever), as the byte[] will form a two bytes-per-pixel image. I've been working with 8-bit data (this is 12-bits, NOT packed), which is much easier to manipulate.
    I currently have this method to convert a byte[] of 8-bit data into a short (I do this because Java does not support signed types and I need that 8th bit):
    private short[] convertBytesToShorts(byte[] data) {
         short[] convertedData = new short[data.length];
         for (int i = 0; i < data.length; i++) {
              convertedData[i] = (short)((short)data[i] & 0xff);
         return convertedData;
    }Is there a way to modify this to place two bytes into one short? Is it possible to just AND two bytes with 0xff and add them together to create one short? Surely it cannot be that simple. Also, remember that I must treat the values as unsigned.
    Furthermore, the two bytes look like this:
    | xxxx xxxx | xxxx 0000 |So the last four bits in the second byte are 0s.
    Any advice is appreciated.

    Yes it does. The fact that it displays a byte as and integer and the conversion in that process produces a negative display value has nothing at all to do with the bits.
    Is there a way to modify this to place two bytes into
    one short? short s = (short)(((b1 << 8) & 0x0ff) | (b2 & 0x0ff))
    Of course you still have to deal with getting the order correct.
    (You can probably get rid of that first mask but you would need to test that.)

  • [TV5200] TV Tuner; No Signal Found TV5200-VTDF128NTSC (MS-8928)

    Folks,
    After spending numerous hours on multiple tech forums and finding no answers, I decided to post my own question   Here goes:
       I have an MSI TV5200 VTDF128NTSC with the MS8928 Chipset.  I will list my current system config below my post.  When I purchased this card I was running MS XP Pro v2002, w/o SP1.  I have the bundled MSIPVS software which worked to get my cable signal well.  As soon as I installed SP1 and DirectX 9.0c, MSIPVS would reboot my computer upon launching...which to say the least was frustrating.  I scoured the internet for new WDM drivers for the A/V Crossbar, TV Tuner ETC, and was able to finally get it working again.  After getting a couple more updates about 2 weeks ago I went to use my MSIPVS program again.  To this day I have not been able to get a cable signal.  Here are the steps I have taken:
    1) D/L'd MSI's most recent driver at the time, version 2.2.6.0  This did fix my reboot problem, but then when in the setup options, when I selected cable as my TV input source, as soon as I clicked "apply" it would faulter, then go back to the default "antena" setting (no matter what county I Chose)
    2)D/L'd the following Nvidia Drivers: 56.64, 61.76, 66.93, 71.84, and currently running the 71.89 drivers (mind you I have no other issues with my card except no TV Playback).
    3) D/L'd MSIPVS 3.0 BETA2 (as per Stu's suggestion on another forum)  Installed drivers on the FTP folder I believe were 3.0.1.6  This actually got me to where it would stay in cable mode, and autoscan for channles, however they were still all snow.
    4) D/L'd MSI WDM Drivers verision 3.3.2.36 (this is the current installed driver)  Still recieve no channels via cable TV.
    5) Checked Cable signal on a small cable ready TV, worked fine, Made sure my settings for region were correct, NTSC-M, which were the settings by default for MSIPVS 2.0 when it worked a while back.
    As you can see I have put a few hours into this problem, and now I am hoping you Tech savy people can aide me from here.
    System Config as Follows: (Nothign is overclocked, all stock)
    Asus A7N8X-X MB Bios Version 1010
    AMD XP 2500, Slot A running @1.83 ghz
    1.25 Gig PC266 Memory
    60 Gig Wester Digital HDD
    MSI TV5200 VTDF 128 Geforce Fx5200
    On-board Nvidia Sound/Lan
    Win XP Pro SP1, DirectX 9.0c
    I hope someone can help me on this.

    I have a very similiar setup with winxp pro sp2, I have had headache after headache.....but today I finally had a breakthrough!!!!!  I had the Nvidia drivers version 7772 and kept getting a negative display.  I had the msipvs version that was recommended by Stu, which cleared up a bunch of the mess.  So I decide to go back to the Nvidia driver version 5663, and it fixed the problem with the negative display.  I installed the WDM 2.26 VIVO-TV drivers and it all works like a champ.  I have the issue with the msi radio not working, but I don't care much about that.  I am having trouble with having video in from a composite type.  I can't get video in, just keep getting a green/black flicker...will keep working with it though.
    Has anyone had any experience with MediaPortal?
    Or had any luck with Media Center Deluxe?

  • Mini display port to HDMI - negative picture issue

    I bought a new Macbook Pro 13,3 inch laptop last week and added a 120 GB ssd and 8 GB of RAM. I'm loving it!
    Something I'm not loving however is the issue with the Mini Display Port / Thunderbolt when connecting with a MDP-HDMI adaptor. I watch a lot of movies and so hooking the computer up to my Sony BRAVIA 46 inch TV is quite important. Everytime I do the picture and sound are great! For about 5 minutes... then the picture goes "negative" you know that turqoise look?? Like a negative image. The sound is still there, the picture is just affected. To remedy I have to turn the tv off and restart the movie. Very annoying doing this ever 4-5 minutes!!
    Is there a fix of some sort? Apple should really release an update for this.
    Thanks!

    sounds more like a hardware failure.
    Try a different monitor to see if the problem persists, in which case that would point to a bad video card... or try a different source with your monitor(another computer), and if the problem persists, that would indicate a problem with the monitor
