Negative forecast release to snp

Hi,
we have a requirement to be able to release negative forecast values from dp to snp, i tried this out using the standard transaction sapapo/mc90 but whenever i release negative forecast values it zeroes it out in snp. Though we get a message that negative forecast values zeroed out.
Is it possible to release negative forecast values to dp, if yes how?
Thanks

As far as i know, You cant release negative forecasts into SNP by MC92
This converts the Time series to Order Series Data. There cant be a negative Forecast in SNP . Forecast is already a negative requirement. So a negative forecast is the equivalent of a reciept
Why do you need negative forecast in SNP. If its for display purposes use TSCOPY and copy to a time series KF in SNP planning area.
Else, using some mechanism, Filter out the Negative forecasts and make it absolute values and pass it on to SNP as Planned orders instead of Forecasts (you can change the order type when you release forecast from FA to something that is planned orders) you can pass the non-negative as forecast.

  • Negative Forecast in SNP

    Hi,
I released forecast to SNP from DP. The released Forecast values in the standard planning book shows with negative values. To cross check the problem I tried to create Forecast from RRP3. The entered values shows up negative values in the SNP planning book. Any inputs in this regard would be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
This is a bug. You never get negative values into SNP through release. You either need to upgrade the service packs or open a OSS message.
Refer to this [post.|Re: Forecast Values appear negative in SNP Planning Book; that talks about a similar issue.
    Thanks.

  • DP forecast not released to SNP - error "Invalid Data Status"

    Hello,
When DP forecast was released to SNP, one material - Location went into error. The error is "Invalid Data Status"
Release to DP to SNP  is thru background job, and it check the material status (only material with active status is considered for release).
But for the above error, the material is active.
What could be the possible reason for this error & how can it be  resolved.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Datta,
In consistency match, there are multiple objects. Since DP is new to me, I am not aware of the objects that should be selected. Can you tell me which objects should I select for this and what will be the outcome of this.
Also can you please explain me why do we execute his transaction?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Forecast Consumption in SNP for shipped qty's

    Hello experts,
I got a question for forecast consumption in SNP and whether forecast stays "consumed" or not after a customer orders gets shipped (Post Goods Issue).
My example is: I have a weekly bucket forecast qty of 100 in DP and release this to SNP. Now in SNP planning book I have 30 units of open Customer Demand against it ... means I have 70 in Forecast line (30 units got consumed correctly). Once I create a shipment for the open Customer Order of 30 units in R3 the situations remains the same .. but if I post the Goods Issue now on the delivery document the Customer Demand disappears (which is correct) but my Forecast line increases again from 70 to 100. I thought forecast consumption in APO would "remember" the already shipped quantities ? I know that you can reorganize open forecast but want I'm looking for is the standard R3 behaviour of keeping already shipped qty's as consumed. Can anybody help here or explain ?
    Regards
    Thomas
    Using SCM5.0

    Hi Datta,
I checked the note  - there is only point 9 in the list saying:
"9. During goods issue for the delivery in R/3, the forecast is always reduced to the date requested by the customer. In addition, overdeliveries are ignored."
Unfortunately this doesn't explain how it works or needs to be done to have FCST consumption happen in APO_SNP based on shipped qty's. In my case FCST consumption works okay up to the point of posting the goods issue on a delivery document. I wonder if there something I need to activate somewhere to have this working since I can't see any "with drawn qty" in APO.
    Any other hints ?

  • Forecast Consumption in SNP for Make-to-Order products

We are working on using APO-SNP for Make-to-order products (PlngStrategyGroup = "81" in R/3). We want to achieve normal forecast consumptino on FinishedGoodLevel and generate PlndOrders which shall derive component demand for purchasing (such PlndOrers wont be released to production - they should only function as demand driven on component level)
What we have done so far: Forecast in APO-DP on Finished good level exists and has been released to SNP. The product gets "ciffed" from R/3 into APO material master with planning strategy group "20" (which is basically "make-to-stock") --> we were hoping this would allow us to use "normal" forecast consumption but nothing happens (FCST is not being consumpted by open Sales orders). Within the product view of such products APO is still "realizing" that this is a make-to-order product.
Any other ideas / thoughts what could be done to achieve "normal" forecast consumption on FGI level for make-to-order products in APO-SNP ?
    Tks !

I checked in /n/SAPAPO/RRP3 (Product View), unfortunately only FC exists there
Seems that the open Sales Orders from R/3 are being created within another segment (the "element" Tab of RRP3 shows 2 segments:
    1) "Make-to-stock" (which contains the FC)
    2) "Make-to-order" (which contains the Sales Orders)
That might explain the issue I see (FC and SOs are in different planning segment --> no consumption). Reading about planning segments in the help sounds like I need to find a way to bring Sales Orders for Make-to-Order products into the Make-to-stock segment  ... jus a thought .. any idea how to do this ? Does that mean I need to modify the CIF for Sales Order transfer for Make-to-order products ?
    Tks

  • Forecast Releases -- Calandar Update for Depot Holidays

    Hello Experts,
We have a new requirement in Demand Planning that the Depots forecast has to release to SNP by excluding Holiday of that particular depot.
Depots may have the holidays from Monday to Sunday any of the Day. We have to implement it according to particular Depot  holiday. during depot holiday forecast should not release to SNP.
I just checked it can be maintained that settings in SPRO --> Advanced Planning and Optimization --> Master Data --> Calendar --> Maintain Planning Calandar(Time Stream)
I would like to check, how can I implement in the system. Pls provide some directions or step by step to maintain the Holidays for the Depots and forecast has to release only working days ratherthan holidays.

  • Distribution Profile / Customer Specific Forecast Release

    Hello All,
I have a small question about the distribution profiles in Demand Planning. We use MRP and VMI scenarios.
    1. While using VMI, we release forecast from DP to SNP using a distribution profile for each location. We get the percentages based on the quarterly reports on what was actually shipped to the customer and we manually enter the percentage every three months.
Our planners do this manually for the locations today since we only have a bunch of customers through VMI.
    2. For the rest of the customers, we use DP and MRP. We release the forecast to ECC using a distribution function that would equally divide the PIR by the total number of days and we see that in MDO4.
The concern now is that instead of dividing the forecast equally by the day, can we divide it by the percentages of forecast consumed by the customer like we do for VMI?
If so, rather than the planner entering the numbers in the distribution profile manually, is there an automated way such as an exit that would actomatically calcuate the percentage consumed by a specific location and update them in the distribution profile automatically. Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    Rohit.

    Hello Rohit,
You will need these BAdis -
    BAdi Name : /SAPAPO/SDP_RELSPLIT
Description: Change period split profile when DP released to SNP.
    BAdi Name - /SAPAPO/SDP_RELDATA
Description - Modification of Data During Release from DP to SNP - Orders
You can fetch Period Split Profile value from Freely-Definable Attribute(like AT101) Product-Location Master (Table Name : /SAPAPO/MATLOC) to use during Forecast Release process. is added in /SAPAPO/MATLOC table.
You can create commonly used pattern using distribution functions and mapped those to different Period Split profiles. Also you can map these PSPs to some kind of numeric digits/text to easily identify/remember period split profile names uniquely.  These numeric digits can be set into Product-Location Master by either users or by using custom program.
This is just an idea, please think, you may improvise further to make it more purposeful for your scenario.
Example : Common distribution functions -
    Month - 4 X 4 - 25% split into 4 Week on the Month
    Month - 1F X 1 - 100% on 1st day of the Month
    Month - 1L X 1 - 100% on last day of the month
Month - 2 X 4 - 50% split into 2nd and 3rd week of the Month and so on and so forth
    Hope this will help.
    Thank you

  • Release to SNP - period split profile doesn't work as expected

    Hi Gurus,
I have a DP planning area with monthly storage buckets. I want to release to SNP using a period split profile that distributes the forecast equally to weeks. The problem is that the forecast is always completely released to the first working day in the month (and is not distributed as expected). Further information:
    - using SAP SCM 7.0
    - time stream in the storage bucket profile of the DP planning area = shipping calendar in the locations
    - the simulation of the period split profile shows the expected behavior
Does anyone know what maybe went wrong?
    Best regards,
    Christoph

    Hi Datta,
thanks for your quick reply. I found out that I entered the wrong from date for the release of forecast to SNP.
I used the beginning of the planning area time stream and not the current date. Therefore my settings in the split profile had no effect because the split would only have taken place somewhere in the past.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • How Forecast Release and Consumption for Variant Configuration

    Hi experts,
we are planning in our project how to Forecast Release and Consumption for Variant Configuration
    can you explain me
    Regards,
    babu

    Hi Sivaramakrishna,
We tried the same but what is complicating is having "market" attribute of customer in R/3 and planning forecast in DP at the "market" level. There is no customer as such in DP. THere is only market. We could release forecast at market leve using "consumption group". But I am trying to figure out how to have the sales orders consume forecast at the location, product and market level in SNP.
Today we have our sales orders to consume forecast in SNP at location-product level. we are trying to take this to "location-product-market" level in SNP.
I think we need to use some settings for characteristic based or variable consumption I think...but not clear.
    Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to reply.

  • Planning for Sales orders for quantities greater than forecast in APO SNP

    Hi All,
We have a requirement in which planning in SNP is done based on the forecast  quantity transferred from DP . Demand from Sales orders is not taken into consideration for planning . The PO's are created based on the forecast quantity only SO's consume forecast  . Now a situation arises where we have the sales orders quantity  ( say 400) is more than that of the forecast( say 300 ) , this means  for quantity of 100 no planning is being done by SNP.
We want to know are there any ways of getting the remaining quantity being planned by SNP
The planning strategy used is 40 in ECC
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Surendra

    Hi Surendra,
For better control, the forecast quantity should match the sales order quantity for plg strategy 40.  If there are cases when sales order quantity is greater than forecast, you can create a control check in ECC to inform the users who creates the sales orders to get a popup message to create a sales order with rush order type or any other type to track the excess sales orders received against forecast.
In SNP, once this rush order is entered, upon subsequent net change heuristic plan which runs day night, it considers those excess quantities and puts up purchase requisitions and procurement & production can be planned based using those PRs in SNP.
    Please confirm

  • Negative Forecasts appearing in APO-DP

Negative forecasts appearing in APO-DP against some brand/packs.Any reasons why????

    Hello Kailesh,
Sometimes the planning book doesn't show what is saved in livecache. This is especially true when you have some default macros which gets executed when you load data. The default macros will run and therefore the planning book will show the result of the macro computation and not exactly what is saved in livecache. For example, if you have a macro in one planning book which computes the Net Forecast = Stat + Adjustments. Every time this planning book is run Net Forecast gets computed and also gets saved when the user clicks the save button.  Now, imagine what will happen if stat or adjustments gets changed somewhere else (e.g. thru another planning book or thru stat forecasting). When you go the first planning book in display mode, you will see that the data for Net Forecast looks "correct". However, this is not what is saved in livecache.
I suggest you try to check out your data using a planning book with no macros. You can also check out using RSA3 using the export datasource of your planning area. Both of these methods will show you what data was really saved in livecache.

  • APO DP Unable to save negative forecast values

    Hi,
We are not able to generate negative statistical forecast in our system in the background or in the foreground. When the system is supposed to generate negative values, we receive the message "Forecast will be negative". Our business requirement is to allow negative values to be generated.
I am using SCM7 EHP2. All key figures allow negative values to be entered, we did manual test entering data in the data view then saving -xx in cells and it works well. When background jobs are ran, the messages that are supposed to allow negative values are checked.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi Maxence,
I have had a similar requirement to see negative forecast.
Anyway, it seems it is a standard DP behaviour. Take a look this note.
1745808 - Negative forecast values set to zero
According to this note, If you do not want to set negatve forecast value to zero, you have to modify the standard program to set the global parameter GV_NEGATIVE_FORECAST in class  /SAPAPO/CL_PE_FCS_SERVICE with value 'X'.

  • Function that zero out negative forecast in APO DP (SCM 4.0)

    Hi,
I tried to look for a thread about the above function but I have no luck.  Would you kindly share a light if you have come accross negative number being generated automatically? (no macro is set up for negating forecast)
This is the note that I would found from SAP help, but there is no actual direction to get it.

    Thanks
    Anita

it depends on the forecast strategy used....negative forecasts are automatically made zero by most strategies
some forecast strategy will generate negative forecasts ( am not sure which of them do).. but in that case you can use a macro to make it zero
I did not understand if you wanted Negative forecast or you want to zero out the negative ones

  • DP forecast release on MRP area

    Hi Experts,
We are having multiple MRP areas within a distribution center. The sales history is available in R3 with the associated sloc as the delivering sloc.
Can i get this history in DP , do a forecast & release it on MRP areas in APO? What are the precautions to take care in this cycle.
    Regards,
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
If you want to do forecast in MRP area level in DP, than follow the below steps:
    1. CIF MRP area to APO using integration model.( MRP area will be appeared in APO as Location)
    2. Create a characteristic with MRP Area.
    3. Do forecasting at MRP area level or dis-aggregate to MRP area level.
    4. Release the forecast to ECC.
    Hope this answer your query.
    Thanks
