Neither Bios nor Windows will recognize my 970 4G Gaming

Hello all: I've been struggling over the past 14 hours trying to get my 970 GTX Gaming GPU recognized by Windows 7 and my Krait SLI Bios. It goes to the default Intel 4600 Graphics. Neither Gaming App or any of the drivers will recognize the card. I know it's powered and mounted because the lights and fan are on. I really have no idea what I'm doing wrong at this point. If I connect the HDMI cable directly from the Graphics card I won't get any visual on the monitor, so I've been using a VGA connector from the mobo to get picture while still having the the GPU connected to the monitor. I'm confused.

Neither Appleworks nor Office will run

My daughter's MacBook (OS 10.5) will launch neither Appleworks nor Office. They start to run, but then immediately quit and she gets the "quit unexpectedly" message. Text edit and NeoOffice both run fine.
I trashed the plist file and cleaned the recent items and autosave but the programs still wouldn't run. I have also repaired permissions.
I would guess this is a font issue, but font book shows no fonts with serious problems.
Any suggestions as to what I can do?

As for Office, I don't use it & can't help. Maybe you can find help in the Microsoft Office forums.

2nd gen ipod will not work or neither of 2 computers will recognize it

My Daughters nano 2nd gen just stopped working, it will not do anything, "froze" up solid as she says.
I have gone through the "5Rs" but nothing will make the ipod show any life and nothing seems able to make the computer see the ipod. I can't do the "restore" option because the computer needs to acknowledge the ipod to complete that step.
I have 2 computers and neither computer recognizes the ipod at all. i have read all the troubleshooting tips, all the tips in the discussions any other suggestions, we are 4 hours away from an "Apple Store"

I am also having a similar problem when i try to connect my ipod it comes up with the error message "the software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. please reinstall itunes to install the ipods software."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes many times doing the full uninstall as outlined on the support page. I have also tried installing an older version of itunes but this did not work either. I checked msconfig and ituneshelper.exe is selected to load at startup but when i check task manager it is not there.
Is there any way to fix this problem. I have been trying for two whole days to sort this. I have tried the ipod on other computers and it works fine so i am certain there is nothing wrong with the ipod.

Move these filess to the Trash.
PDF Browser Plug-in
AdobePDFVieweer.plugin
Relaunch Safari. See if that helped.

X200s tried to add webcam - now neither webcam, nor thinklight will work

Hi all,
So, as the username hopefully indicates - a newbie to the x200s, which I bought recently, though I've been using thinkpad products for a few years now (a devoted fan!)
My x200s did not come with a webcam and, since I am thousands of miles from home, I reckoned I would try and install one manually. Note that I have swaped its HDD for an SD & changed keyboard in the past with no problem, so I was assuming (foolishly, perhaps!) that vaguely knew what I was doing.
I followed the instructions and user experiences on this thread, I purchased this camera - and got off to work.
Even though everything seemed fine when adding the camera to the system, a strange thing happened after I rebooted (I run Linux Mint 16): neither the webcam, nor the thinklight were now working. After lots of testing, I assumed I must have just destroyed part of the cable during installation, and so I purchased this cable (Lenovo ThinkPad X200 LCD Video Cable 44C9909) and tried again. Same result! The only difference is that the first time round, an "lsusb" command on linux would return a Ricoh product (and I assume that's the webcam), but it would still not be recognised by Mint, while now, there's nothing. In both cases, the Thinklight didn't work.
Since both the thinklight and the webcam come out at the same end (see the right end of the cable on this picture) I am assuming, of course, that the two are related.
Would anyone know which of the clips on the left end of the cable on the same picture, above, correspond to the webcam and the thinklight?

Be sure integrated camera is enabled in the BIOS Setup menu.

Neither Bridge nor MiniBridge will start in CS6

Just downloaded and installed CS6, but Bridge will not run either as a standalone from the Windows menu or from inside CS6. Get the Window blue rotating circle when it tries to start and then after a few seconds it dies. No indication it is running in Windows Task Manager. Any ideas? I have 8GB of Ram and 2 SSD's. Everything is installed on C:

Kill those processes that you are seeing, including any plugincontainer.exe, only once firefox has stopped running should you try to update it.
Totally unexpected instances of firefox running may sometimes be the result of malware activity.

Neither Pages NOR Preview will open

I recently upgraded to ML, but now both Pages and Preview will not open. When I try to open a file, or open the actual application, they look like they're going to, but then they just bounce in the launch bar for ages and I get the nice little rainbow spinner.
Pages I don't think ever has worked since the upgrade, but Preview stopped right in the middle of using it one day and I had to force quit it. I had one image open in it, and tried to create a new document from clipboard, which resulted in it hanging forever with the little spinning rainbow ball, and I had to force quit. Since then it has never opened. Like Pages, It bounces and bounces and never asks me to restore windows or anything. Then it stops bouncing and the little indicator remains under the icon in the launch bar indicating it's open, but if I have tried to open an image, there are no windows for it open. I have tried repairing permissions and restarting without success.

Ok, backtracking a little... because Preview is being stupid again. :-) It opens, but I get the same mess happening again every time I try to save an image. Throwing out the plist file for preview makes it immediately able to open files again. All I have done is crop an image and try to save it or export it. The export command does not even come up. The menu highlights as if it is going to but no dialog ever comes up. Preview at the same time becomes utterly unusuable. I have to force quit it, throw out the plist, and start again.
OK I trashed the Iwork '09 folder in application support. (I still had an Iwork '08 folder in there too and I trashed that.) Starting from scratch, reinstalling, then updating. If this doesn't work, then my husband is thinking, since Preview (something awfully integral to the OS) is so messed up that the next step will be backing up everything, wiping the drive and starting the entire OS from scratch. Sigh.

Critical Kernel error while on windows partition, now neither mac or windows will boot help ?

Hi I was on my windows side of my mac when i got the blue-screen-of-death with something saying Critical Kernel Error, weird noises from the speakers and the macbook pro did a hard shut off.
Since then I can no longer boot into the mac or windows side (both are stuck infinitely loading). I ran disk utility on the mac side and I have an "Invalid Node Structure." Which disk utility cannot repair. I do have DiskWarrior on another mac to try and rebuild the mac partition through a firewire connection - i think that is the correct course of action ?
But does this mean my windows partition is likely gone or any idea what went on ? As I am terribly confused that while on my windows side I had an error that messsed up both partitions.
Or what to check for so this hopefully doesnt happen again if it is a hardware problem? My drive smart status is listed as "OK" and I cant seem to run the Apple Hardware test as upon attempting to get into it the laptop just shuts off while loading it, although I read somewhere the Apple Hardware test is no longer preloaded on macbook pros.
The system in question is a 15" macbook pro bought around July 2011.

Alright I have both my mac side and windows side repaired and functioning fine. Should I still be concerned ? Linc I know you are saying this is a drive malfunction but is there a way I can be sure ? I still cannot run AHT (restart, hold down D), and my laptop shipped with Lion installed so I believe it should run. It just boots into the mac side when I hold D..

Detailed Problem, iTunes nor Windows will reconize

I have an iPod nano 2G that I got February of this year. I worked perfectly until about a week ago.
Long story short, iTunes won't reconize my nano. But my computer will only if my iPod is plugged in before the computer starts up, if the computer is already running, it won't reconize it.
If I plug the iPod up during iTunes running time, then I see nothing. But if I plug it up after the computer reconizes the iPod, I get the message that states I should re-install iTunes and such.
I have learned, however, that my iPod as no problems plugging into another computer.
Now, I have re-installed intunes by disk and by updating it to the most current version of iTunes and I get the same problem. I do notice that on the task manager screen, after I re-install iTunes, the iPodService.exe shows up, but dissapears after I start iTunes.
And yes, I have tried all of the 5 R's. Whats it the matter with my iTunes/Ipod?

You're going to have to give us a lot more information if you are to get any help on this.
Version of Aperture to start with, did it ever work after the upgrade to Lion, hardware configuration, what version of the OS were you running before the upgrade, etc.
Any and all information plus a clear description of what you did ad what you have tried will all help getting you an answer.

Neither LR4 nor 5 will import

Had version 4.2 working just fine until last week when it stopped importing. Program does not even show external drive in available folders. Bought LR5 and updated to version 5.2. Same problem. I can view from Windows Explorer or Irfan View. If I try to import from other source, I can see the folders but when I open the folder I get an error message that says no items match your search. What am I doing wrong? I need to get this figured out as I'm a sports photographer and need to get 6 games processed and posted. Thanks!

Is the drive letter A or B? Lightroom doesn't find drives with letter A or B, you'll have to pick something else.

Neither google nor yahoo will search from the homepage

Typing in a search on either google or yahoo does nothing, it simple says page cannot be found. AOL will search. Also anything already on yahoo homepage will open when I click on it.
So I downloaded Firefox today and it still will not search. I type in anything on the Firefox search box and it says it cannot find the site

Suddenly: neither Thunderbird nor Postbox will send messages.

As of yesterday, selecting "Compose" in either TBird or Postbox results in a weird sound, after which a new message window appears and then almost immediately disappears. (MS Outlook works okay.)
OS: Windows 8.1
Thorough scan with BitDefender found nothing.
All Add-ons disabled... and I hadn't used TBird in a few weeks.

Tried reinstalling Thunderbird? perhaps a DLL has been corrupted, as postbox uses basically the same code base it would be affected by the same issue.
