Neither iPhoto nor IDVD recognize my LaCie
Yet I bought the LaCie (DVD Burner) from MacMall and Apple advertises LaCie on all it's sites. Now I need to save my Photos to a DVD and it won't recognize the DVD burner (though it makes some noises like it knows something is there).
Is there a trick that I'm unaware of?
My question was answered in another post - I was told I needed a download from the LaCie website - which solved my problem.

Neither pc nor itunes recognizes ipod
so this thing worked for me a week back, i set it on manual because this nano cant hold my entire library. i loaded a 500 song playlist onto it and iv been listening to those for a week,,,,those 500 got old and when i went to sync different songs on it this happens.....
i connect the ipod to the usb cord,,,fine fine,,,windows makes a beep noise like it knows that i connected something...except the beep noise is a double instead of the classic single "dong" sound. the ipod does not make any change,,,like the "do not disconnect" message does not show up, just the regular menu.
the ipod doesnt show up in my windows explorer under my computer,,,nor does it show up in itunes.

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

Windows recognizes USB device but neither it nor iTunes recognize iPod
I just got a iPod shuffle this morning and tried to install it. When I first installed the software and restarted, I plugged in the shuffle, iTunes opened, and the iPod appeared on the iTunes menu. Immediately thereafter, however, a message popped up on my screen informing that Windows had recognized new hardware, installed it, but needed to restart. I restarted. Since then I have not been able to get iTunes to recognize the iPod shuffle. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the iPod software and iTunes several times, and followed all the tutorials I could on the website. Now I am actually afraid I have messed something up by deleting the uninstall file for iTunes somehow... so I can't seem to uninstall or reinstall anymore.
Anyway, regardless, I wouldn't care about uninstalling iTunes again if it would just recognize the shuffle.
I should also add that when the iPod is plugged in, the iPod blinks with the Amber light (signifying disk mode??) and Windows still recognizes a USB device... If I go to device management it even called it an "Apple iPod Device" but I can't seem to get any other recognition of it.

My Shuffle is flashing Amber/Green (Disk Mode).
I tried removing then reinstalling iTunes and the iPod
updater. I start the updater then plug in the Shuffle.
Windows recognizes the Apple iPod USB Device. Then
everything freezes. The updater freezes. If I use
task manager to kill the process, I still can't eject
the USB device from Windows. If I try to shut down,
the computer hangs. I have to hard reboot the system.
This is a catch-22. How do you use the updater if the
computer doesn't really recognize the Shuffle? By the
way the same thing happens if I try to use the updater
from my laptop.

It was working fine, then I plugged it in, and it said I had to restore it, so I did, but then it said it could not restore, so I ejected it, and tried plugging it back in and never recognized it.

IPhoto doesn't recognize my 20D
IPhoto doesn't know my Canon 20D is connected to my Powerbook running on OSX 10.3.9 and iPhoto 4.0.3. The 20D connects properly with my iMac running OSX 10.4 so I don't think it is a camera problem. Any suggestions please!
Thanks John for the suggestion. Image Capture was not set up properly and now it is, but even after a restart neither iPhoto nor Image Capture recognize the camera. It does show up, however, in System Profile. Any other ideas.

IPhoto won't recognize camera for new user
I recently set up a user account for my daughter with "Some Limits" selected. She has access to almost all apps, including iPhoto 4.03. When she connects our Canon PowerShot SD100 camera neither iPhoto nor Image Capture recognize it. When I'm logged in as an administrator the camera is recognized and works fine with both apps. The iPhoto Library is in the Hard Drive\Users\Shared folder. "Look for Shared Photos" and "Share Entire Library" preferences are selected in iPhoto in both my daughter's and my admin accounts. How can I get iPhoto to recognize the camera when my daughter is logged in?

Iphoto does not recognize certain people
I have started identifying faces in iphoto. It recognizes a lot, and when rescanning will normally come back and say XXX might be in the following 8000 photos. But in one case (me) it shows the 700 identified ones, but then says there might be more in the following 32 photos, as if there were no more. When I search for someone else, I see another several hundred of me, so I know they are there.
What is the trick or work around to get it to see the rest when it looks for me?I have the same problem as well. This is definitely a user issue for me as it only occurs in my account and not in a test account. Trashing Image Capture prefs and repairing permissions did not resolve the issue, nor did the above fix. I am not confident migrating all of my files to a new user would be a permanent solution since I have pretty extreme usage habits.
Here is an outline of everything that I've experienced related to this issue:
Neither iPhoto nor Image Capture recognizes my camera, iPhone or any of the dozen iPod Touches I use. It seemed that for awhile (maybe a five month span) it would take longer and longer for my iPhone to be recognized (I plug it in nearly every day as I require it for work) and I would use only Image Capture as it was dramatically faster at recognizing it.
My iPhone stopped being recognized completely about a week ago so I tried my digital camera with no luck. Taking the SD card out and using the SD slot worked, but I have no way to do this with the iPhone or any of my Touches. Image capture now shows my iPhone in the device list at all times (plugged in or not) with a pie as if it is in the middle of reading it. The only other things Image Capture recognizes is my SD card and my networked scanner. -

The same steps that they recommend also work for fixing iPhoto and iMovie.
Be sure that you are logged in as a user with administrative privileges (System Preferences → Users & Groups → Current User → ☑ Allow user to administer this computer).
Launch the Terminal application.
Inside the Terminal, run sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force
When prompted, enter your password.
After the command completes (in about a minute), restart the computer. -
IPhoto doesn't recognize import device.
I have posted before without solving the problem:
I have a Canon EOS 350D which I want to import photos from. It is a supported camera. When I plug in the camera and open iphoto 5.0.4 the Import icon isn't there. When I go to the application Image Capture I get the message No Image Capture device connected. I have tried connecting to the back of the computer and into the keyboard.
I created a new User account and no difference.
I have a sony DSC-S70 that I have imported photos from for years so I plugged it in to both computers. It creates the same situation. No import in iphoto and no image capture device
I used the disk Utility to Repair disk Permissions but no change on either computer.
Should I save all photo libraries to CD and re-install iPhoto??
If so, are there any suggeations as to how to best make sure I have the photos to retreive again?
G-4 dual 1.4 and G-4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)
Posted: Mar 19, 2006 1:54 PMhello Jerome - If you're using a card reader, the default application should open automatically. When you're going directly from the camera, Apple recommends that you turn on the camera after it is connected via USB. To set the default action, open Image Capture and use Preferences.
If you've done this and neither iPhoto nor Image Capture can see either of your cameras, it would appear something more basic has gone sideways. Does your keyboard work if you switch USB ports (ie, do you have a bad port?). If the keyboard still works, I'd try running MacJanitor and whatever other disk and maintenance utilities are available and try again. Perhaps there are some other ideas?? before you back up your data and reinstall OSX. John -
Now it will not turn on. I have tried all the reset instructions with no luck. Neither iTunes nor any of my computers will recognize it when I plug it in. Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

Uh...no...you are wrong.
CS5 can open D600 files if you convert the D600 files using the free DNG Converter 7.3 RC which is available at labs.adobe.com (note DNG Converter 7.2, ACR 7.2 and LR 4.2 offer preliminary support). LR 4.3 and ACR 7.3 RC (both are release candidates hence the RC category) can deal with D600 raw files directly. If you process the D600 file in LR 4.3 RC, you can open that image in CS5 if you render the image in Lightroom 4.3 RC.
Yes, Adobe will no longer update CS5.x because Adobe started shipping CS6. It's Adobe's policy to cease support for versions of Photoshop that is no longer shipping–Adobe is now shipping CS6. It ain't a rip-off, it's the standard Adobe policy to support CURRENT customers, not former customers.
You really need to catch up bud...software and new cameras change all the time. Buying a new cameras generally means you'll need to update your software. Foolish you for not knowing that. All of this could be mitigated if Nikon and Canon (and the other main camera brands) adopted some sort of raw file format standards...sadly, they don't which allows people who fail to grasp the reality of the situation to blame Adobe. -
IPhoto 9.6 and Image Capture can't import from iPhoto, don't recognize devices or SD cards
I'm running the latest version of Yosemite on a recent MacBook Pro, with iPhoto 9.6. I recently noted when trying to import photos from an SD card that iPhoto didn't recognize the SD card automatically, and ask whether I wanted to import my photos. I was able to manually tell iPhoto to import, and find the photos by navigating to the SD card on the desktop and finding the right directories on it, so I figured it was just a hiccup and went on with my life. But now I've hooked up my iPhone 5S via USB to my Mac, and iPhoto neither recognizes that it's connected nor imports photos from it. Image Capture doesn't recognize it, either.
A few further notes:
- I'm running iOS 8.1 on the phone.
- My phone is unlocked when I'm trying to import photos.
- iTunes 12 can recognize and connect with the phone just fine.

My iphoto will not recognize my iPhone 5c, therefore I can't import any of my pictures.
I read that it could be the cable do I went out and bought another but it is still not working?
Neither itunes nor iphoto open when I plug in my phone, however when I open up itunes manually, it recognizes it. Any suggestions?Launch iTunes, then connect your iPhone to USB. The iPhone will prompt you, if you trust this computer. Confirm that you trust it.
Then try again to import to Photos.
If "trust" was not the reason, try a different USB port on your computer. -
I received a dozen pictures in a few emails and I saved them all into one file in pages. I just copied and pasted. I do not have the originals any longer. Iphoto will not permit me to import the pictures as it does not recognize a .pages file, nor can I simply click and drag from the pages document to iphoto nor from pages to the desktop to iphoto. How can I save each picture I guess back into a jpeg and then import them into iphoto or have i lost them to a pages document forever? This is urgent as I need the pictures made into a book on iphoto for work by Friday!!! Please advise! Thank you.

Locate the Pages document wherever it's located on your computer and click once on it to highlight it.
Go to File > Duplicate to make a backup copy of the file.
Click once again on the file to highlight it.
Go to File > Get Info
In the "Name & Extension" category remove the ".pages" extension and put in ".zip".
Close the info window and double-click the now renamed pages file (zip file now).It will decompress into a folder which contains all the base components including all the images you added. These can be dragged onto the iPhoto icon to import them.
