Neither mouseover/hover nor click on Photos/Year view shows image preview zoom. Am I missing something?

I have seen video reviews of a cursor hover working, and Apple's Photos website says to click on a thumbnail to show a zoomed preview. Neither method is working to show previews of a tiny Year view photo. If I click, the entire view enlarges, not just the individual photo.
I apparently converted my library to Photos from iPhoto on the last update. Not a lot of warning there. I have chosen to save images on my iMac, and to share across devices in iCloud. I have paid my fee to get the proper amount of storage in iCloud. I have begun the process of uploading my 30,000+ photo library to iCloud. It is chugging all my network resources, so have occasionally paused that process. ~25,000 to go.
The only Photos/Preferences/General setting I believe I have changed is to uncheck "summarize photos" to see all the photos in a given year.
I am using the Apple trackpad.
Do I need to wait for something magical to happen or is there a setting or something else I need to do to see zoom previews by moving cursor over them?

Clicking and holding down on a tiny thumbnail for a moment will show a small preview, but once I release the holding down, the view changes to Moments, and no direct way back.
That is not a very efficient workflow. I am seeing this with "Summarise" disabled.

Do you still have the "Music Video" Smart Playlist in iTunes? If you right click on a video file, which normally shows up under "Movies" you can pick the video type of Movie, Music Video, or TV Show. When you select "Music Video" the video file drops out of the Movies section and if the Music Video playlist is present will show up there.
You might have deleted that playlist so it wouldn't be on the iPod either.
So create a Smart Playlist where the rule is Video Kind IS Music Video...

Calendar year view showing wrong date

My Calendar shows the correct date in the dock, and also in Day, Week and Month view but when I click on Year view it highlights yesterday's date as Today!
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, have they found a remedy?

I have noticed a good number of such issues with I-Cal over the last several months. Many, far more serious than this date issue. The new beta version of I-Cal is right around the corner and if it works as it usually does (latest Safari update released yesterday fixed the crash issues), the next update should repair these issues. I hope this helps.

ICal year view colors

Is there a way to change the color of the calendar events when you are viewing the calendar in the Year View?
My wife and I both share each other's calendars. Her color is blue and mine is orange in the daily/weekly/monthly views it shows up with the corresponding colors. Yet, when I click on the year view I get this:
I can understand the days where we both have events listed being a different color, but it should at least display blue for the days that have events for her calendar and orange for mine but that's not the case. Any way to fix this? Or can someone explain to me why it shows these colors instead?

It makes absolutely no sense to me and makes year view poinless. I can't see multiple events.
I can't believe how awfully regressive iCal is to be honest. It's not the mainstay of what I do but every time I use it I end up saying, "why the **** won't it let me do that?" or "why have they done THAT?"
It's out of character with all the other Mac software that has always been useful and completely intuitive. ICal has been an orphan child for years and this Lion update has just papered over the cracks for me.
How about allowing scrolling from one month to the next? How about running the months of the year into each other, especially in year view? We don't make a big distinction between 30th June and 1st July in real life so why treat then as a separate page and block them out? It's so frustrating it makes me angry.
I suppose it's like the arguments I used to have with PC users years ago. Yes it does everything, but it's not much fun doing it and fun has always been the Mac way.
Come on Apple, look into this. It's not 3D modelling. It's a bloody calendar!

Neither the Counter nor the Email Me shows up on the page when I click them

Whereas earlier I was able to insert a counter and an "Email me" on my pages, I no longer can. I click either one and nothing shows up on my screen, neither in the text area nor in the footer (the boundaries of which I cannot see but which I have nonetheless set to be about 100 pixels).
What should I be doing to get those two items to show up when I click to insert them?

Hi Lorna,
The fact that you cannot select to Insert the counter and Email me buttons on your page indicates that those two items already exist somewhere on your page. They are most likely covered up by some other item, and it is your job to find them! Make sure that "Show Layout" is selected from the "View" menu. You can try to do a "Select All" Apple-A to see if you see any obscured adjustment handles.
Finally, make sure to open up the Content Height value of your page and/or the Footer height. Just increase the values of both to see if the items are being obscured...most likely your footer is obscuring the items because the items are placed in the body by default and your Content Height value is set to short. Increase the Content Height until you start to see the boundary for the Footer start moving south on the screen. See if you buttons appear under there.
I usually save adjusting the Footer and Content Height and stuff like that for the very last thing I do to a page.

My first generation iPad is no longer recognized in iTunes. It just doesn't show up neither via USB nor via wi-fi.
I've checked the usb connection and cable and its OK.
I checked that iTunes is up to date on my Mac.
I reinstalled iTunes on my Mac.
I restarted my Mac,
I've restarted my iPad.
The iPad has IOS 4.3.1 (8G4) installed. And without the iPad being recognized in iTunes I can not update the IOS nor apps, nor remove unneeded photos. The iPad is completely filled up, no memory left to allow even updates via cellular or via wi-fi.
Trying to gain access to update the IOS and to update APPS and to remove the pics I already have backed up and do not need on this iPad locally.
PS: I even tried to connect the iPad to a different Mac and it was not seen in that iTunes either.
So, what can I do now?
Any suggestions besides using it as a paper weight?

Cannot see Collections and Years views in new Yosemite Photos app

Hi there,
I've just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite to get the new Photos app, and so far it hasn't quite been the experience I was hoping for. My current issue is that nowhere can I see the "Collections" and "Years" views that were so prominent in the marketing material - just "Moments". There doesn't seem to be any way to toggle, even via the Sidebar.
If I look in Activity Monitor, I can see that Photos is using a lot of CPU (and has been for 12+ hours) - is it doing some sort of initial indexing before it can show me those other views?

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now back to the menu bar, click Safari > Empty Cache
Quit then relaunch Safari.
Try one of the sites you had trouble accessing...

IOS 8 - Photos app bug - "stuttering" effect on Year view

On the iPhone6 Plus 128GB with iOS8.1.3 (with 15000 photos inside several years go), I notice that when using the Photos native app in the “Year view” (yearly mosaic view), if I scroll up or down slightly fast, the scrolling that you get has a little “stuttering” or “jerking” effect, so the UI is not perfectly smooth in this view inside Photos native app.
Have you noticed it in your own iPhone's with iOS8.1.3. and also having a huge size photo callery as I have (>10000 photos spread in several years)? (I think that is it very important, because if you have not a huge photo gallery, probably you will not see the “stuttering” or “jerking” effect that I am describing).
I think this is a bug which impacts iOS User eXperience, which needs to be fixed.

Initially I could find no cause. Then I tried right click - Edit and on the affected images, always get this warning:
"Image Cannot Be Edited - This photo was previously edited with another application or with an early version of Iphoto. Duplicate this photo to edit it." and a "Duplicate To Edit" Button is displayed.
The external Editor defined for iPhoto is Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Now, I reckon the MUST be others out there affected by this same apparent Preview bug, yet my searches have not revealed any answers. Also seems impossible to find a contact number for adobe???

What you are experiencing is 100% related to Malware.

Mouseover / hover functionlity on Interactive Report column

Hi,
I have an Interactive Report and having 2 columns say BATCH_NUM, BATCH_DESC.
only BATCH_NUM is displayed on the IR.
I want something like mouseover / hover functionlity on BATCH_NUM field, so that if user is over BATCH_NUM field it should display the BATCH_DESC for that record.
Any idea how can I do that.
