NEO 875P 1.4 Bios BAD Overclocker 1.32B Much Better

I cannot Overclocker much at all with 1.4 Bios, my 2.4C runs 267Bus with 1.32 and with 1.4 I get max 210, Looks like TEMPS are fixxed in 1.4 But they broke Overclocking, Guess we shall wait for 1.5

badwished!
I know some basic things to OC my system but I've got a very simple question:
If I set the FSB in the bios to 190 for ex., than the system tries to reach the memory at 380 isn't it?
( CPU = FSB x 4
RAM = FSB x 2 ? )
As you can seen in my signature I've 2 pcs of Kingston HyperX 512 PC3000 (ddr370) modules. The system is working with these. Would it work with Kingston HyperX PC3500 module also?

  • Problem with NEO 875P FISR2 BIOS v1.8

    Hello,
I own a MSI NEO 8750 FISR2 mainboard and really like it
a lot. I just recently updated the BIOS to version 1.8
(which I obtained from MSI website). The updation went
on successfully. Windows seemed to be working fine. But
all of my 3D games became very slow. I tested the
performance under 3D Mark 2001 SE and the results had
been cut down by half! Here's the configuration of my PC:
    Intel Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz
    MSI Mainboard NEO 875P FISR2
512 MB DDR - 266 MHz (single dimm)
    MSI Ti4800SE-VTD8X Graphics Card
Western Digital 80.0 GB UATA Hard Drive
Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Sound Card
    Windows XP Service Pack 1
I re-flashed the BIOS back to version 1.7 and everything
    became fast again!
I don't know the reason for this but surely the update
doesn't suit me. Can you tell me what is it that I'm
doing wrong and whether I should stick to the old
    version.
    Regards,
    Kamran

I installed the Intel INF update both from the supplied CD and from the website. It doesn't indentify the Intel SATA controller. When I install the Intel Aplication Accelerator RAID Edition, it halts at the start of the setup and exits by displaying a message. I can't recall the message exactly, but it was something like "Chipset not supported ..." I have tried to set the mode to both Legacy and Native but still no results.
Do I need to connect a hard drive to the Intel SATA controller in order to get it detected in Windows? And while I was going through the manuals, I saw a setup menu for Intel SATA controller (similar to Promise controller) before the PC boots to the OS. It doesn't appear in my PC. The Promise menu appears and I can use the Promise controller without problems. At first I thought that either the Intel or the Promise controller can work at one time. So, I disabled the Promise controller. It was no use. It just seems to appear that the Intel controller is simply absent !
Wondering if the samething has happened to anyone else?

  • MSI Neo 875P Bios

    Hello everybody.
I have an MSI mother board  ( Neo 875P ) . windows XP Soon will be going to Windows 7
I have been using IDE for years on this now and back when i bought it hardly anything used SATA.
I’m trying to get the SATA working on this.
When the computer boots up it quickly comes up on the screen top left ( bios not installed ) .
I’d like to fix this  and get my SATA working as all the new hard drives and Drives are SATA and IDE is really hard to find.  How do i Fix this ? How do I install the Bios ? and get my SATA working.
Thanks a lot for any help – John.

bios not installed is a message from promise controller
your getting it as it detects no drives connected
your problem will be both the intel and promise are sata 1
and may well not work with later sata 2 or 3 drives
early sata 2 drives had jumpers to force sata 1 you might be able to find one

  • Unclocked NEO-875P FIS2R reliability

First of all let me say hellow to the boards, Ive alwayse been a fan of MSI but from what I've read so far about the CORE-CENTER and BIOS problems i plan on leaving my system untouched till i hear better...
CLIFFNOTES-How is the reliability and performance of an unclocked NEO-875P FIS2R????

I'm running un-oc'd too, and I haven't had any problems.  Smooth sailing with Bios 1.2.  Was smooth before I flashed to 1.2, too.  I've resisted flashing to 1.3 or 1.4, even though I'm tempted, because everything runs fine as is.  Things aren't perfect (the very very very occasional crash occurs, and things you wouldn't expect to be wonky sometimes are, such as occasional DVD-ROM drive problems, speaker problems, network problems, or vidcard problems, butI don't think that these are on account of the mobo).  Really, though, everything pretty much works as expected, looks reasonable in SiSoft Sandra (in terms of performance), and is more stable than my previous Win 98 SE/ASUS A7V installation.  Only unfixable problem I've had is the software that MSI provided w/ the board is all deadly.  It doesn't work at all.  The utilities disc won't run, and programs installed from it (through Windows Explorer) have bad hang and crash problems.  Otherwise, all is well.
Nevertheless, I CAN'T WAIT for the day that MSI supplies a stable BIOS that everybody loves, that is 100% proven to make the board do what it's advertised as being able to do.  The same goes for their CoreCenter software.  It doesn't work for me now, but I'd love for it to be able to.
Anyway, I expect to live w/ the board as is for a while.  I'll drop in a Prescott CPU next year, stick w/ my Audigy 2 and All in Wonder cards and my 1 Gig of Corsair PC3200 LL DDR DRAM for a while, and I don't expect to have to upgrade otherwise for at least 3 years from now.  Hopefully, this setup will keep me running the latest and greatest software with above-acceptable performance through then.

  • Dual Channel memory problems on Neo 875P

I am having considerable trouble getting the NEO 875P to work with dual channel DDR400 DIMMs. I have two Kingston KVR400X64C25 DDR400 256MB memory modules, each of which works correctly by itself. However, once I move one
of the modules to channel B, I cannot boot my operating system (currently Windows XP.) The problem also occurs in Windows 2000, which I also have on the system. I receive blue screen errors that indicate paging/memory problems. I have upgraded my BIOS to the latest version (1.3)* in the hope that it would solve my problems, but it has not. The POST screen detects that there is 512MB of memory working in Dual Channel mode, but even when it does get through the O/S booting process (rarely), it crashes within minutes. Putting just one of the chips in makes the system perfectly stable. If anyone has any information, please let me know!

    * My board was dead after trying to flash the 1.3 BIOS, but after about 10 attempts of using CTRL+HOME method to recover the BIOS, it finally worked with version 1.0. I then re-flashed with 1.3, and it rebooted fine. Are there any updates about all of the problems with v1.3 ?

    >I can only answer based on what I've read on this forum
I figured as much, I was just wondering if you knew whether MSI themselves frequents the forums or answers emails sufficiently.
I've had an interesting development though. I stumbled upon Tom's Hardware Guide's article about 875P motherboards at http://www17.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030519/i875p-01.html
They mentioned that they needed to increase the memory voltage from 2.5 to 2.6 in the BIOS to get some memory modules to work. I did this, and for the first time, I am running in Dual channel DDR mode. However, the article also mentions that "the system does not run completely stably", so I guess I'll have to wait and see if it crashes again. However, I'm far enough beyond the XP splash screen to post this message, so I guess we're getting somewhere!

  • K8n neo nf3 250: best bios for OC.

    Hi.
What is the best bios for overclocking on msi k8n neo fsr/platinum. I use bios 1,47 now, but i think it is playing games with me.
I have no problem running my cpu at 10/255/2550, but my Ocz 3500 EB wont follow that long on 1:1. So i tried running this at 9/280/2520 and my memory running at 5/6. But my cpu wont get totally stabil here...
My temperatures here is 32c idle and 48c load.
Is there a better bios for OC?

    Try 1.42
Find it here K8N Neo Bios Collection.

  • Neo 875P Onboard Sound Problem

I'm having problems getting surround sound to work on my MSI Neo 875P with my Logitech Z-640 speakers.  It only works in Morrowind and the during the SoundMAX control panel tests.  Not with media in Windows, and not in other games.
In other games it just seems like the output to the rear channels is really weak.  If you put your ear to it you can hear it, but it's not working as it should.
If I plug my front speakers into the rear channel port on my mobo, and then put the rear speakers in the front channel port (that is, switch their places), the front ones are all quiet and the back speakers play loud.
Thus, it is not the speakers which are messed up, it's the output coming from my mobo.  But it's configured to run in surround sound!  And surround sound does work in Morrowind!
    Any ideas?

I have a 865PE Neo2-FIS2R (MS-6728) with version 1.3 BIOS and I'm having the same problem.  I get sound from the rear speakers only from the Speaker Test in the C-Media 3D Audio Configuration program.
All other audio output only comes through the front speakers.  Winamp set to output to Direct Sound does not produce rear speaker sound either.
When doing the speaker test, there is also a crackle noise as it switches between speakers.
Speaker setting is 4CH; speakers are plugged into the on-board audio jacks; I've verified that everything is connected properly.  The speakers work fine as they work in the Speaker Test (and they worked fine with my previous machine and audio card).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers, both from the CD and from the website, with no change.
    Any suggestions?  :-)
    Thanks,

  • Attention all Neo 875P FIS2R users!...Your opinion is needed!...

Hi...I recently purchased the Neo 875P FIS2R after reading some fantastic reviews on it. However, I was browsing the AnandTech forum last night and most of the replies in the topic were extremely negative towards the board and MSI...People sending them back etc. I have not built my new system yet with the Neo FIS2R so I was wondering what other people's opinions of this board are, how they are finding it's performance, stability etc before I build.
All input will be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks from Colin.
P.S.- Overclocking for me is NOT a priority...stability I feel is most important to me.

If you are going to say something like this you should post a link to where it is. I have never seen MSI make any statements about cutting PAT off. If this is your guess say so, but don't quote it as fact unless you can prove it is true.
See this for someone else's guess:
"As far as I know, all i875 motherboards disable PAT after 210MHz.
It may be part of the Intel licensing agreement."
I didn't know. That is what I was I read on here.
I didn't know that all the mobos did. It is odd then because at 225FSB on my abit board, Sisoft Sandra and CPU-Z both report that PAT is still on. The same was not said with my MSI board. After 218 PAT was disabled and a took a loss in mem scores.
But don't get me wrong I recommend the MSI board to anyone except the extreme overclocker.
Sorry if I mislead you guys.

  • Anyone with a Neo 875P FISR (not FIS2R)

Does anyone here own a MSI Neo 875P FISR mobo? I have one, but get the feeling that it aint as good for OCing as the FIS2R. The BIOS does not have CPU:DRAM ratio setting. Any comments??

  • Neo 875P - Wheres me JUSB3 gone?:/

My query is pretty simple:) Where the hell is the JUSB3 socket? I have a JUSB2 socket and next to this is written JUSB3 but accompanying the writing is nothing but an empty space:/ Soooo whos stolen my extra usb port or am I just being stupid and its elsewhere on the board?

    Hi
    To: iyongski
Like WitchFinder, I also have the D-Bracket and two USB ports on the front of my case. I have a separate thick wire for each front USB port and each thick wire has four smaller wires with connectors marked:
USB Port 1:  VCC1, Data -1, Data +1 and Gnd
USB Port 2:  VCC2, Data -2, Data +2 and Gnd
If I use the D-Bracket and hook it up to the JUSB2 header, or I can connect my front ports up easily enough but that 8 wires and there is no wire for PIN 10 (USBOC).  But if I connect my D-Bracket to JUSB2, I cannot also connect my two front USB connector wires to JUSB2.
    To Assaf
I have the Neo 875P and it has 6 USB ports on the back panel, four under the mouse and keyboard ports and two right next to the LAN port.  I.e.  I have both LAN and USB ports together.

  • Newbie - memory advice with Neo 875P

    Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have just bought a new MSI Neo 875P motherboard and an intel pentium 4 2.6C processor. The question i have is i no longer have the funds to buy some DDR400 memory this month so i am forced to use my existing samsung DDR 266 memory for at least a further 4 weeks.
Does anyone know what sort of impact the use of DDR266 will have on my new system (basically will it seem any faster in photoshop / games) than my existing athlon 1.4 on a KT333 motherboard. Or wether this combination of board and memory will actually work and with wnat settings?
    Thanks is advance
    John

AnandTech has posted a memory article that includes a comparison between DDR 266 and DDR 400 performance here:-
