Check in "System Preferences">"Energy Saver" to see if you have the "Computer Sleep" bar set too low.

I'm having similar problems with my Epson Stylus DX5000.  There was no in-built driver available (the generic old and new Stylus drivers didn't work), so downloaded the latest driver from Epson site.  It shows as being available to print to, but just sends data to the print queue then job disappears.
I hope you're right C F McBlob, I could do with printing today but if there are new drivers available from November 5, then so be it.

  • Can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??

can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??

Yes the WiFi card can wear out but not what you would really call wearing out like a pair of pants do. It can start to fail causing the connection between your computer and your Wifi router to slow down, IE transmit and receive less data in a given time period. And then it will fail completely.
But as to your internet connection being affected by a failing WiFi card no that can't happen.
If you turn the WiFi off and connect the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable does your internet browsing and downloading speed increase? If it does then there may be something wrong with the WiFi card in your computer or the WiFi section of your router. Hard to say which.
If after connecting the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable and your speeds do not increase then it is a problem with the router or on your ISPs end.

  • Macintosh HD greyed out and shut down after progress bar complets

Hello everyone, after i manually closed my macbook by holding the shut down button for 5secs due to an application crush, my macbook pro doesnt seem to be able to boot anymore. It executes the progress bar under the apple  icon on the screen (trying to repair my hd) and after it completes the process, it shuts down. When i press cmd+R, i can see from disk utilities the 500GB hard drive and the macintosh hd. The 500GB total hard drive is normal (even with no problems to fix after running verify and repair) but the Macintosh HD-part is greyed out and verify/repair fail with an error when i click on them. What should i do? i dont think its a hard drive failure. At least, how can i back up my system or some files? from disk utilities the new image function should be executed for the macintosh hd partition and not for the parent 500GB hard disk in order to make a backup, right?

    1) In a Finder window, select the Macintosh HD. Can you see the contents? If yes, you can select to drag over files.
    2) Download SuperDuper (free) When it opens does it recognize the internal drive in the popup? If yes, you will need to make a second portion on your external drive for the clone of your internal drive.
    3) If you can't see the contents or the drive in Finder or SuperDuper then you will need to download and run Mavericks over the internal drive.

  • Navigating from mc, back out and back into a different movieclip.

This must be pretty simple, but im having trouble.
I have a movieClip on the main timeline called mcFlyouts. inside is a flyout button called btnAV which when pressed needs to navigate back out of mcFlyouts and into another movieClip on the main timeline called mc_HomeLayout ---> to frame labeled "audio_fm".
i tried using the following code, but its not doing anything, or even giving me an output error.
this code is inside of mcFlyouts.
    btn_AV.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnAV1);
    function btnAV1(event:MouseEvent):void
    MovieClip(parent).mc_HomeLayout.gotoAndStop("audio_fm");
    any suggestions?

If you assign the event listeners and event handler functions to the buttons in the main timeline you shouldn't have any problem targeting it.
Beyond that, what you described for the code you show would seem to be correct.  Maybe you should try tracing some things to make sure they are what you think they are, including just tracing the function to make sure it is executing.

  • Slide out and drop down competition

Hey everyone. I have been trying to find a solution to this for days, and yet can't figure it out. I have a menu that needs to slide out (horizontally, left to right) from behind an element that says menu. But then instead of the links taking you to the actual pages the content is dynamically loaded using ajax into a pane that drops down and is the width of the entire wrapper around the menu.
I have uploaded the files to a testing site, here.
I have got the slide out feature working just fine. However, the drop down doesn't show up. I have been checking in Firebug to see if it actually loads the content, and it does, but it is all invisible. I'm thinking it is more of a css problem than a javascript problem, but after a few days of trying different things I don't know.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Having content dropping down sounds like collapsible panels, but I'm not entirely sure how you want it all to function. I didn't see anything besides the slide out menus in Chrome. Should the content that 'drops down' disappear when another button is pressed? In that case, you might want to look at Tabbed Panels, too.
If you think it is a CSS problem, work systematically through your stylesheet, turning off styles or attributes one at a time so you can see what affects what. You might be inadvertently keeping your content "off-screen" ... there but not there...

  • SMB keeps dropping out and slowing down

I have a user in the office that is using windows 7. They are connecting to the server but about 2 or 3 times a day the connection either drops out or the connection to the server becomes very slow and then seems to rectify it's self.
I have captured some logs of around the time it happens may be some one has an idea what could be causing this.
This was a disconnect from the server. Stopping and restarting SMB fixed it.

The machine is not bound to the server they are just using standard log on, but the user is an open directory user.
I possibly think it is something to do with smb cache as that seems to be referenced a bit.
    Any ideas.

there is no security rick changing to b/g but if all your devices are 'n' rated then there is no point.  However if they are not then enter 192.168.1.154 into your browser then enter hub manager then wireless where you will be able to make the change to just b/g

Well if it's only once or twice, it's probably not an over-heating issue.

  • First time i sync since the new update and i keep getting this:" contacts and calendars cannot be synced on the iphone" and everytime i click on it itunes times out and shuts down

what should i do?! nothing is working! i tried turning it off and on (and by it i mean phone and laptop) nothing's working !

With my fingers crossed I uninstalled the updated iTunes that led to the problem.  Then went to the iTunes.com site to download the full version.  After the install was finished I connected the iPod and it detected and synced the iPod without any further issues.  I don't get the error, Contacts and calendars cannot be synced on the iPod "%1$S", any more.
