Neo Speech not working

I have just installed Adobe Captivate 8 on my PC (64 bit) I also have installed the Neo Speech program. I can see all the 'characters' in the folder so I know they have downloaded and installed on my PC. However when I go to convert text to speech it states that I have not downloaded Neo-speech and I only have 'Anna' has an option. Is there something else that I can do

Reset your preferences and (if required) reinstall NeoSpeech. Check out point no. 8 on Rod's blog post on how to reset here:

Text-to-speech not working in preview 8.0 for .pdf files !

Text-to-speech is working in every thing expect in preview after the new upgrade yosemite. Please if somebody has any remedy please let me know or I request apple to bring a new update to over come this problem.

I have found that Text-to-Speech works just fine in Yosemite's Preview application — without changing any standard settings. I added additional voices, and it works equally well with these too. You should not expect Text-to-Speech functionality with text that is incorporated into a graphic though.
Both Edit > Speech > Start Speaking, and after enabling in Text-to-Speech Preferences, Speak selected text when the key is pressed (option+Esc).

I have this problem too. Mine actually works when you go to the FILE, EDIT, SPEECH, START SPEAKING but my shortcut that worked before I upgraded to Maverick does not work.

DTS Neo PC Not Working!

Hi, I can't get DTS Neo Pc to work, i've tried the three console modes but it still don't work. it says it doesn't support the selected sampling rate (set to 24bit 48000 tried 6bit too)
i tried downloading the latest version of DTS connect pack from Creative but still the same.
I have the X-FI Titanium
using Dan-k Titanium installation disk
anyone else got this problem?
Edit: just installed the new console launcher beta and DTS connect has disappeared.

Uninstall old Creative apps as well as drivers. See page 19 in the user guide. Sort the programs and features list on "Publisher" to see all installed Creative apps. IIRC, the "What u Hear" slider, and associated balance sliders, control volume when the cinematic DDL or DTS encoder is selected but not when the PCM advanced feature is selected.

Text to Speech not working in Trial

I downloaded and installed the Captivate 4 trial and am impressed with the enhancements I have explored thus far.
However, I'm very excited to try out the text to speech tool. However it does not seem to work--Captivate keeps prompting me to download and install the Neotext databases--which I have done--a couple of times now.
When I first downloaded them and added them, Captivate was still running.
Since it did not recognize the install, I quit Cpativate and installed them again.
Still no luck.
Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Neo speach not working in Captivate 4

I have both Captivate 4 and Captivate 5 installed on my computer. Even though I downloaded and installed the neospeach voices for Captivate 4, I can't get them to work. When I try to convert a slide note to speech by clicking the convert button in the slide notes area, I get a message that it needs to be downloaded (again). Can anyone help me with this?

As I recall, the version 4 speech was cumbersome and not intuitive. You were forced to download and install. You thought you were finished at that point but in reality you simply made the true installer available. You then had to run the true installer to get the voices installed. Then you had to restart Captivate.
Apologies if you have already done all those steps. If so, perhaps there is a bug in there. If not, maybe the reminder helps?

K8N Neo Platinum not working

Hi guys,
I finally tired of my old PC and decided to go for a new AMD64+ system. I ordered these components:
A64 3000+
K8N Neo Platinum
2 x 512 MB Corsair XMS3200 2-3-3-6 RAM
I turn the finished PC on, the fans power on, the harddisks make noise and... nothing. The monitor doesn't recieve a signal. According to the DLED-bracket, it hangs on 'Resource Assignment' every time, just before the harddisks are started.
I have tried just about everything, even booting with only the videocard (both R9700 Pro and GeForce 3), still no dice.
I have tried running only one stick of RAM in the different slots, not a success.
I don't have any other CPU or RAM to test it with, so those options are out.
Another culprit is the PSU, but I have a new Mist (Factory modded Fortron / Source) 480 W PSU capable of 22 Amps at the 12V line, so that shouldn't be the problem. It works with good ratings in my old PC.
Any more ideas? It does look like I will be taking it back on Monday.

Stats are posted, but as I mentioned, even the barest possible setup with a RAM stick and videocard refuses to work. That's without keyboard, mouse and hard disk.
I'm not sure what I can add to that other than saying I can't even get into the BIOS since I get no video.
I forgot one thing: The PC speaker beeps once for about a second. Slightly longer than my old PC did, but not long enough for me to really think about it. Definitely nothing compared to the crescendo I got once when I forgot the extral power to the R9700

As far as a fix, I just kept wrestling with it till it would finally boot (off/on, disconnecting / reconnecting leads, etc .... nothing ever consistantly did the trick) but I always manged sooner or later to get a boot. Pressing and holding the DEL key or quickly tapping the DEL key as the PC was powered-on seemed to have some connection with success, but only after many failures of the same thing. As I said, very inconsistant. A warm boot, once the PC was running, usually went fine, barring any other unrelated issues.
By the way, my D-Bracket error code always hung at one green LED, lower left in the 4 LED array, which I think indicates initialization of the keyboard controller. Whether this was the cause (keyboard controller) or it just happened to be the point in time where some other problem arose which prevented boot is hard to determine.
Damn, that's a bad experience. I haven't tried banging keys around, perhaps I should try that.
I had a chat with another guy who had a problem akin to this. In his case, the BIOS was borked. I'm really not sure if I'm going to ask for a new Neo board or go for the Gigabyte one instead if I can't fix it.
Funny how I never had any trouble with Via boards before while nForce3 is a general bad experience for me

Text to Speech not working on Mac

I downloaded a PDF file because it was not avaliable in ebook form. When I activated text to speech there was no output.

Perhaps there is no text on the page. This can happen especially if it is an old book that was scanned.

E8400 Processor + P35 Neo Mainboard = Not Working.

PROBLEM:
Basically I have a MSI P35 Neo Mainboard and an E8400 3.0GhZ Core2Duo Processor.
I have the E0 model of the chip (SLB9J)
I have updated the BIOS to 1.8 (used the Flasher tool provided from this forum) as it is said to fix the compatability issues between the two components.
However, whenever I boot I get get stuck at a POST screen.. I think... not sure if its a POST screen but comes up every few times I power up the PC with the E8400 in it.
It says something like press Y to run BIOS settings or N for default settings.
I have tried both Y and N
Then it reads what's in the PC..
4096MB RAM
USB Keyboard....
and freezes.
However, I got this screen again when I reinstalled the Pentium D 820, and it recognised everything after I pressed Y (including USB components), and the PC booted up normally.
If anybody has had any similar problem and/or can offer any advice on what do do it would be much appreciated.
Apart from updating the BIOS version, I have also tried using a PS/2 keyboard instead of a USB.

BIOS v1.8 does not support the E0-Stepping 45nm processors yet. You need to upgrade your BIOS to the latest Version for your board version (v1.10 [.ten] a.k.a A7360IMS.1A0). I will upload it for you in this post.

VTML-Tags for text-to-speech do not work in Captivate 6 - are they working in Cap. 7 again?

I had a hart time to find out, that the functionality was "forgotten" to be programmed in the version 6.
Together with Neospeech I worked long to make single voices work in full functionality and it cost additional licence fee... unfortunately the voices sound tinny so I cannot really use them...and due to different time zones it is hard to find the error together with Neospeech
Now I see that Captivate 7 is available.
Is there already qualified info if the vtml tags work again like they did in older versions?
Adobe Support hotline was NO HELP at all, very unfriendly... only idea was, that I should get the test version and find out myself, pretty impertinent.

You might already know this, but stating it here to rule out the simple failure cases.
I have had a similar problem in the past using VTML tags inside Captivate. I used to type the slidenotes in my favorite editor and then copy paste the text from there to the slidenotes panel of Captivate. Turns out that my editor was using Unicode and hence the entire text pasted into Captivate slidenotes became unicode text, including the VTML markers. Though the pasted text "looked" fine the markers were messed up (for example, the double quotes around the value attributes looked like double quotes but they were actually multibyte unicode sequences) and this confused Neospeech. The output audio would be funny (for example it would read "Less Than...V...T...M...L...") or NeoSpeech will crash taking down Captivate along with it.
The fix was quite simple. I started typing the slide notes from within Captivate slide notes panel and everything worked fine after that. Alternately I could type in my favorite editor (after making sure that it is operating in Plain text mode) and then copy paste work flow also worked fine.
Another common mistake (at least, I do that often) is to select the speech agent from the drop down at the top of the dialog and forgetting to choose the speech agents for individual slide notes, which may still be referring to a non-neo-speech agent which does not understand the VTML tags.
No other software tool was required like the German Adobe Support team may have mentioned. I am using Captivate 7.

Neo Speech voices not installing in 5.5.

Have tried several times unsuccessfully to install Neo Speech (Kate + Paul) in Cp 5.5. I am not clear exactly which folder with 5.5 these should be directed to when running the .exe file, which could be the problem. Some attempts result in the following error message:
a problem occured whle extracting some files. check availalble space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm running a 32 bit system here, so perhaps this situatoin is different. Pointing the Neospeech install to the Cp 5.5 just doesn't seem to work, which leads me to believe that that they're not installing in the correct location. When I launch Cp there is nothing available but Microsoft Anna, and no other voices visible in Speech Management.
In 5.0 the Kate and Paul voices are in the VT folder in the main Cp folder. Copying this to 5.5 does not work either.
Tried reinstalling Cp 5.5 this morning, which was did not change anything. Never had any problems installing the voices in previous versions, so this is quite frustrating.
Given the Kate voice is used in most of my projects, I may have to stick with 5.0 for now. Burning up way too much time troubleshooting this.

when I want to use 'read out loud' in adobe reader and foxit , I'm get no sound, I have similar problem in babylon that using TTS engine of OS.
I'm using windows 8.1 64 bit.
Do not get any error, but when play would have no sound.
I previously didn't have any problem with these softwares.

Can not get Text-to-Speech to work

I can not get Text-to-Speech to work. In "Settings", I can go into "Voice input & output", then to "Voice Output; Text-to-speech settings" and then to "Install voice data; Install the voice data required for speech synthesis" but it is "grayed out". I have downloaded Pico TTS several times and I have soft-reset and hard-reset the device several times. Still no text-to-speech
Any thoughts on what I can do to get text to speech to work?

Did you activate InCar in Vlingo? I just checked this and it works for me. Once you activate InCar, you should hear "Vlingo InCar".
If Vlingo InCar doesn't work for you, have you considered getting another Bluetooth headset that has the ability to read texts to you, like the Blueant Q2?

Speech dictation not working

I purchased the new iPad and the speech dictation will not pick work or makes any indication that it is analyzing any speech or sound for that matter. Is this something apple is in the process of working on?

My mic was functioning when my dictation stopped working. Apple suggested that a system file may have been corrupted, which explains why a simple reset did not work. Solution, connect your iPad to iTunes and do a full restore of your iPad. By the way this was written using dictation. Looking forward to the Siri update!
