Neo V ICS Update via Bridge for Mac on Snow Leopard

I am trying to update my "neo v" via "bridge for mac" on my mac mini (10.6.8 - snow leaopard)
I am connecting in MSC mode as Phone is not detected by Bridge in MTP mode
In MSC mode I do get the notification for ICS update however, after the Prepare stage it asks me to switch to MTP mode.
I do so and nothing happens.
I disconnect and try to reconnect in MTP mode and nothing happens
Please help/advise

PhotoShop Elements 6 for Mac under Snow Leopard?

Hi. Apple's new operating system for Mac, Snow Leopard is being released tomorrow.
According to the Snow Leopard wiki, Photoshop Elements 6 does not work under Snow Leopard:

I contacted Adobe to ask if they had any plans to update Photoshop Elements 6 to work with Snow Leopard. The response I got from their support was that Adobe Photoshop Elements was programmed before Snow Leopard and so they weren't responsible if it didn't work.
I am pissed because of course Photoshop Elements was programmed before Snow Leopard. EVERY software program was. Most of my software (and I have a lot of apps) are being updated for Snow Leopard by their developers.
I'm writing this post just to make sure that Photoshop Elements doesn't work under Snow Leopard. It's possible whoever posted that Photoshop Elements didn't work under Snow Leopard could have been having an isolated problem.
So, if anyone tries Photoshop Elements with Snow Leopard, please post here whether or not it works.

No, there are no significant known conflicts with Snow Leopard, so that's not your problem. Have you deleted prefs since the upgrade? Was this an upgrade in place rather than an erase install? If so, go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Paths Folder
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Settings Folder
Opera preferences
repair permissions and see if it's any better. Do you have any third party content installed in PSE? There may well be conflicts with that, if so.

I am trying to update my software to Mac OSX Snow Leopard.

I have a mac book from early 2009 with an operating system of MAC OS X version 10.5.8. I am trying to update the software so I can sync with my iphone 5. I have the MAC OS X Snow Leopard CD and am ready to install. When I tried it the first time the installation failed at about half way and the screen went black with a pinwheel for almost an hour. After that it gave me the option to restore to the previous software. The computer is back to working but I would really like to be able to update the software. Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem. I can not download my update whatsoever. I emailed the support e-mail attatched in the original email, but have not recieved any news.

Bash: Apple should continuously support Bash update 1.x for all prior-Snow Leopard OS X and Servers

I don't see any reason why Apple should ignore all pior-Snow Leopard OS X and Servers' Bash Update 1.0.
In my work environment, I have a mixture of Unix servers (from the old to the latest). Now, all Unix machines are vulnerable to Shellshock. It is worse than heartbleed bug. Why do Apple still let crackers have chance to attack those old Apple machines and Xserves? For God's sake, please provide Bash updates to them all. This is a historical glitch. Poor users had no choice of what version of Bash to install or remove at the time. Their securities are on Apple's hand. Apple has the responsibility to fix it.
Put it another way, on May 1, 2014, despite the end of support for the Windows XP (April 8, 2014, over 12 years since its long release), Microsoft released an emergency patch to correct a major, recently discovered security exploit in the Internet Explorer browser on all versions of Windows.
If Microsoft can do it, why Apple cannot do it better?

Anything gained by updating to Intel-based Mac and Snow Leopard?

Is there anything to be gained by replacing a 1.8 GHz Power Mac with system 10.4.11
with a MacPro 2.66 GHz with Snow Leopard ?

Has anyone updated the software for 10.6 Snow Leopard and found that their printer no longer scans or prints?

Last October, I bought a MAC desktop that uses MAC OS X 10.6.8 and an HP 1050 All-in-One Printer J401a.
Everything worked beautifully until messages kept popping up about downloading critical MAC software update. Eventually, I succumber to the persistence and took the 7 hours required to do the download.
Since then, the printer refuses to scan. A mesage informs that "HP Utility quit unexpectedly" and a report is being sent automatically to Apple.
A few days ago, I got an engineer to have a look. He re-ran the HP disk 3 times and managed to get the scanner to work, but only once. His second visit did absolutely nothing and now even the printer doesn't work.
HP informs that this is a problem with MAC OS X 10.7 and suggests downloading a correction.
Has the Apply update turned the 10.6 to a 10.7?
I have un-installed HP and disconnected the printer.
What can I do to get this important facility back?

Right 10.7 is a purchase of a new oeprating system. Software update will not upgrade your computer to 10.7.
The Software on the disk is very old software. Ushally it's a good idea to download the latest software from HP. As such, have you tried downloading & Installing HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v10.5 and v10.6?
You may need to go into system prefrences, Printers, and delete the printer, and then re-add the printer.
When opening the scanning software; it's really important to open the right program. If you look in the HP software folder there should be sevreal programs. There should be a program called scanner select or some thing similar. That's the one you want to open. it will have you select the device you want to scan from; then it will give you the option to open the scanning program.
if that dosen't work, do you have any other mac or pc computers? the reason I ask; is that the printer could be having a hardware issue. if you try the scanner / printer with another computer; and you still have the issue, then you know it's an issue with the printer it self and not your computer.
My HP all-in-one scanner died about 8 months into owning it. I couldn't even use the built-in copy button on the printer to make copies.

Just wondering how much longer I will have access to programs on my MacBook.

There's no definite time limit. The programs on the computer will continue to work, but as time goes on, fewer updates will be available for them, and if they interface with websites, those sites might be closed(such as MobileMe) or upgraded to incompatible versions.

Microsoft Office X for Mac and Snow Leopard

Bought SL and during installation the hard drive crashed. Took the less-than-year-old computer in to Apple store where they installed a new hard drive along with SL. Our old version of MS Word X doesn't appear to be working properly. I can make new documents, open old ones, etc. but printing is off. Thought it was a printer issue but after downloading the update for HP printers that seems ok. If I use bullets, numbers, or indent the printer stops printing at the point where the bullets etc. are.
So, do we need to upgrade to a newer version of MS Office. I have no idea if Rosetta was installed or is there....can't find it on the hard drive.

Bridge for Mac update with Apple Photos support?

Will there soon be an update to Bridge for Mac which imports photos to Apple's new Photos application rather than the legacy iPhoto?

Sorry to bother again. But will there please be a solution soon? It can't be that it's not worth providing a smart update INCLUDING the ability to use the new (or rather new) Photo application on an apple system... Since I (and I expect many Mac users) am not able to use iPhoto anymore, importing and exporting photos has become incredibly annoying. Please fix this bug soon!

Why does FlashPlayer not install in Mac OSX Snow Leopard?

I've downloaded FlashPlayer for Mac OS, and the entire install process is completed successfully. But I do not have FlashPlayer capability, and I cannot find FlashPlayer on my hard drive. I've downloaded all of the recent updates for Mac OSX Snow Leopard, have closed all programs, shut down and restarted--nothing works. After a supposedly "successful" installation, I don't have FlashPlayer. What's up?

ADE does not recognize Sony devices on the Mac. You'll need to use the Sony software instead.

Detailed Software Repair Instructions using Pc Companion(Win)or Bridge for MAC. (Update 8/5/2014)

We have an extended guide that should help you repair the system of your phone. This instructions are valid for all Android based units and for some legacy Sony Ericsson models(The list of phones that can be used with the application is displayed in Step 9 of the process). please follow the instructions carefully: Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer. 1. Visit this link:http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/Click on Download PC companion2.Run the software After the installation the first screen will show you the PC Companion Startup Guide which gives you a brief explanation on the main modules of PC companion (Support Zone, Xperia Transfer, Contact setup and Media Go) Keep clicking next.3.Now you will see the screen with the different modules.Select Support Zone> Click Start. The program will download the module. Then click on start on Phone/Tablet Software update. (Here you can choose to update an accessory, go to step 14 for instructions) Note: At this point if you get an error stating that "unable to install update components" or "server is busy" Please proceed to step 13 . If you not see that error then continue with step 4.
4. The program will show a window saying "could not find phone/Tablet” Do not Connect phone instead select Repair my phone/tablet. This will bring you to a window with a warning that says "data will be lost" (do you want to continue) Select to continue (Data in the phone will be deleted, only data in the SD card will remain. Make sure you have done all proper backups if possible)6. The program will issue a second warning stating that “data saved in the phone /tablet will be overwritten during the update of your phone”. Here are the basic Steps for Bridge for MAC.Download Bridge for MAC from:http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/bridge-for-mac/The phone should not be connected to the MAC.
The phone should be off.After the Download unzip the file and drag the bridge for MAC icon to the Applications folder. (install then use finder to locate icon)In the Main "No phone connected" window, on the top menu (top application menu) Select "Phone" and scroll down to "Repair phone"
This will open the Phone Software Restore window with the 3 sections for Start, Prepare and Update.
Click on continue bellow. Doing so will popup a window warning you about the loss of your personal info. Click on the checkmark signaling that you understand the data loss situation,
This will take you to the Connection Procedure Screen. Follow the instructions in the screen and click on continue*.
*One key aspect of the last step to keep holding the indicated button before and after you connect the phone to the MAC until the update starts. IF this is not done correctly then the phone won't connect to the MAC

Unable to perform update with Sony Bridge for Mac

I have not been able to update my Xperia Z1 (model C6906) through Sony Bridge for Mac.
While attempting this in SBM version 3.5 the following messages would appear:
There was an issue with the update engine. Please contact technical support. (reason:failed to start local server)
then:
There was an issue with the update engine. Please contact technical support. (reason:failed to parse installer XML(code 11))
SBM has now updated to version 3.6(3602) and still no luck. The software is able to download the update engine but then remains stuck in the initializing phase, talking to update engine.
My phone is at build# 14.1.G.2.257. The proposed update seems minor, as the build # doesn't change but it would be great to have this issue resolved in time for kitkat 4.4
There doesn't appear to be a problem with the phone as the staff at the Sony Store were able to perform my initial out of the box update with PC Companion.
My Mac is running OS10.9 and the java version is 1.6.0_65
Any advice would be much appreciated

Need Bridge for Mac to download software update for Xperia Z1?

Trying to update the software, but the only instructions it has are to download Bridge for Mac? How do I do this if I don't have a Mac computer? I'm WIndows. Thanks.
