Neo2 Platinum compatible with EO stepping cpus??

Hi
Just wondering if MSI has any comment on this? I think all us neo2 plat owners would really like to hear something from the horses mouth so to speak. Shame on you if you dont!
Maybe the 1.5 bios has been released to address this problem? Shame it's not showing up in the search yet...
thanks

Carefully read them and you will find out that this is a user to user forum. MSI does not read or respond here. It is such a shame that people won't read before posting dumb comments here.
If you want a responce from MSI on the issue then use this link and find out How to contact MSI.
Otherwise you may ask us what we know. It is very little ATM on the newest CPU's, but we will know as soon as most folks.
Oh ya... Shame on those who don't read the rules...

  • MSI NEO2 Platinum, problem with mouse Genius PS2 optical

    Hello,
I have a MSI NEO2 Platinum motherboard with a mouse Genius optical PS2. When the S.O. init the mouse is not detected, I unplug and plug again the PS2 port and the mouse work perfectly ! ... The mouse is working perfectly, I test it in another PC, the problem is the motherboard !
The same situation is on Windows XP Professional and Linux Ubuntu 5.10.
Please help me, thanks for your attention !
    Raúl.

    Raúl,
The PS2 slot is NOT a hot plug! If you remove and reinstall it while there is power to the mobo you stand a very good chance of destroying the PS2 Slot.
    Take Care,
    Richard

[Athlon64] Msi K8N Neo2 Platinum problems with Patriot Ram

    First post, whoo hooo
So what version of BIOS are u running?  I recently installed the two newest versions 2.0 and 2.1, and they both give me problems.  With the latest (2.1) I'm getting the same error as you.  Returning back to previous BIOS fixed my problems.  Oh yeah, my RAM is Kingston Hyper-X, so i don't think thats your problem.
Let me know if you fix it, thats why im here, .

  • K8N NEO2 PLATINUM HANGS WITH NVIDIA, WORKS WITH ATI???????????

    HI
I have endless problems with nivida cards on a MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM board.  I have tried 4 different nvidia cards and they all hang on any 3D app or game. NFSU2 looks like it lags in the menu already. It stops for 2 sec then goes again for about 10 secs.
Slot in any ATI grachics card and it works 100% for hours with no problems. I am runnig a 480W Antec psu aslo, so there is no power problem.
    Anybody have any idea???????????????????

well..i tried to oc my vid with 78.01  my comp rebooted in just a few seconds of game play...so i reset clock speeds to stock...got rid of 78.01's and installed 80.40 betas...so far so good..and i got this email replay from BFG asking for any fixes..here's a summary of what they said
"If you check the HardOCP forums as well as many others, issues with NF3 chipset motherboards are rampant. They seem to be limited to the implementation of a 64-bit processor with AGP architecture cards, fast ones in particular, but NOT limited to NVIDIA cards. People with fast ATI cards have the same issues... so don't act without investigating.
We have no point of action we can do for you in the matter. The chipset and drivers for it are made by NVIDIA, then implemented by different companies on their products. The exact same can be said for the GPU, chipset on the graphics cards and drivers for them. We're a manufacturer who uses their technology and unified drivers for our cards, but we make "OC" cards that run faster than NVIDIA designed their GPU and chips to run. NVIDIA can't control "how" the companies implement their technology, but makes every effort to create drivers to accommodate issues that crop up during the product 'life-cycle'."
ill say this...i personally havent seen anyone with an ATI having this issue..if anyone knows of that...please let me know...as much as i bashed ATI....i feel like im left with no choice  but to buy one(x850xt pe)if no one plans on fixing this for us..any imput is appreciated

  • RESOLVED - K8N Neo2 Platinum problem with large Seagate disk

    Hi All,
I've been running this system for 4 years and I'm very happy with it. But I've run into a problem:
I'm trying to exchange my 120 GB Seagate Barracuda systemdisk with a 500 GB Barracuda and I can't install XP with SP2.
First I tried to clone the old HD with Norton Ghost and Acronis True Image. The cloning looked fine but after taking the old HD out and moving the new one to P-ATA 1 as Primary Master I get an "error - no operating system found". I also tried a fresh install from CD. After the CD reboots the system I get the same error.
The HD is present in BIOS with the right parameters and all is looking well - but still no go.
I've fiddled around in BIOS (vers. 1.3) with the different settings (LBA, Large, Auto, Csh.) The last 2 options gives the "no operating system" error and the first 2 gives a "disk error" although Seagate says that I should change settings to "LBA".
I only have the new HD in the machine. I also tried fixboot and fixmbr. I can see all the installed files when I put it in as a slave.
    So my question is:
Does the K8N Neo2 Platinum have a problem with large hd's as system disk?
Or is this a Seagate or Windows problem ?
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Mads

Actually that was the first thing I did just to see if the drive worked :-) - except that I had it as master on the second ide cable. It formats like it should and all partitions report "healthy". The only difference is that the new drives c-partition is set as active (can't find a way to change it back)  - while the old one is set as system. Could this make a difference ?
Since neither cloning nor a fresh install works I think the problem is something else. Maybe I should try Seatools and see if that makes any difference.
Thank's all for help so far! - Other suggestions ?

  • P35 NEO2 FIR compatible with Zalman CNPS7700?

    Can I install Zalman CNPS7700 Cu on P35 NEO2 FIR With E6750?
    Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if it will fit.  In any case, as far as I know the CNPS77000 Cu only has a 3-Pin FAN-Connector.  The problem here is that the P35 Neo2-FIR (and all recent MSI Boards) have a 4-Pin CPU Fan Header.  If you want to take advantage of the automatic CPU FAN regulation feature of the board, you need a CPU Cooler that has a 4-Pin FAN Connector.
Users have reported that the following CPU Coolers should fit for sure:

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum flashed with Neo4 BIOS

I decided to install the MSI Live update utility today. Following it's instructions and with a stunning display of ineptitude, I've managed to flash my Neo 2 Platinum with the latest (1.9) Neo4 BIOS.
I never thought I'd do something this stupid, but there you have it. As you'd expect, it doesn't POST. the D-Bracket shows it hanging on Initializing Hard Drive Controller (amazing it gets that far).
Just for the hell of it, I've tried all the usual (removing all components, holding Insert on boot, resetting CMOS) but it's looks pretty terminal. Can anyone suggest a way I can salvage this board? Is it possible to aquire new bios chips?
    Thanks

If you are in Europe/UK then Yes - try http://www.eksitdata.com/_uk/index.asp
You can buy a new bios chip and get them to flash it with the file you provide AND for future saftey buy a BIOS Savoir as well. See my sig for model info.

I just got one bluescreen in XP but it's not because of memory. I run Memtest86 all night with 3 passes and got 0 errors so it can't be the memory? I dont know why i got it, the bluescreens just showed up recently. My new comp has runned fine for two weeks until almost right now.
    Any ideas?
    Read Moan Guide 1st.
"I run Memtest86 all night with 3 passes and got 0 errors so it can't be the memory? "
Yes it could be. Leave it for longer period, then test it with Orthos =====> http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/beta2.htm (Use Large in-place FFT's, with priority 9) Leave it for 12 hours at least

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum compatible with AMD 5400+ BLack Edition???

I looked at MSI's chart, the AMD 5400+ BLack Edition was NOT listed, yet the 5000+ BE was.  To further confuse me, I read all of newegg's review for this board, 1 user was running a AMD 5400+ BLack Edition on it.  Can someone please confirm?  Thanks!!!

I can confirm that this CPU does work with this board.  I have asked this question to MSI Online Customer Service about a week ago and this was their response:

    Now then,
Running now at 260 x 9 still at default vcore.  For some reason I need to set the memory at 166 which gives me about 167Mhz true.  If however I set memory to stay at 200Mhz it will not have it, even though the memory will be running at 201Mhz ish.  It just wont POST.....
    Whats going on chaps?

U'r memory might need wider timings or more volts
Doubt it, it ran in an nForce 2 upto 207Mhz 2-2-2-11 and thats on the nforce 2 memory controller that doesn't like dual sided memory stick much over 200Mhz!
