Neo4 Platnium MOBO JCD1 Connector Type

Could somebody please confirm, for this newbie, that the JCD1 connector on the Neo4 Platinum MOBO fits an MPC4 connector type?  I recently bought a DVD/CD burner OEM and need to buy the Audio cable for it.  I am not well versed with the different cable types.
I have a BenQ 1620 Pro DVD.
Thanks.

Hi there !
You don't need to connect this analog cd/dvd output to mobo one anymore .
Todays motherboards , cdroms and dvdroms can all use digital audio extraction , the digital signals is ran over the ide databus
and picked up at the motherboard level where the sound is processed by onboard soundchip or a pci sound card .

  • Problem: Wiring Praetorian Case to Neo4 Platnium MOBO

I'm new to this computer building thing, so bear with me.
I recently received my components for my new computer.  Everything seems to be going well, except that I am having difficulty understanding the case wiring and how it interfaces/plugs-in to the MOBO.  MSI has a pretty good detail in their documentation of what is required, but the case I bought has next to none.
This particular Praetorian Case has the following:
    Power button:  Blue/White wires
    Power LED: Green/White wires
    HDD LED: Orange/White wires
    Reset button: Grey/Grey wires
This maybe so basic it will totally expose me as a newbie, but how do I know which of these wires are which, with respect to the MOBO's wiring diagram?
    The MOBO has the following:
    JFP1
1   Hard Disk LED pull-up  (would it be orange or white?)
2   MSG LED pull-up  (would it be green or white?)
3   Hard Disk active LED (would it be orange or white?)
4   MSG LED pull-up  (would it be green or white?)
5   Reset Switch low reference pull-down to GND (Which Grey wire?)
6   Power Switch  high reference pull-up (would it be blue or white?)
7   Reset Switch high reference pull-up  (Which Grey wire?)
8   Power Switch low reference pull-down to Gnd  (blue or white?)
    9   Reserved do not use
This is how I would have guessed to wire it
    1 Orange
    2 Green
    3 White
    4 White
    5 Grey ????
    6 Blue
    7 Grey ????
    8 White
    9 Not in use
In advance, thanks for your insight.
Also: what do I risk by doing this incorrectly?

Yeah, I've been to the Cooler Master website already.  Let me tell you, there is way less information behind their links than you might expect.  For example, the forum link is not what I would call a very interactive lead.  It is more like a FAQ, which only covers 3 questions.
The setup directions for either Praetorian case (only one of the two cases has a downloadable  manual) doesn't cover the wiring of the power/reset switches, and the LED indicator lights.  What it does cover are the front USB, Firewire, and Audio.  No problem with those, just the power related stuff.  I just don't want to F-things up just because I didn't ask.   I have also emailed Cooler Master about this but haven't heard anything back from them.  Thanks for the help.

2nd. Why every time I boot into windows, it tells me it found new ide controllers but when it tries to install it gives me errors. I try to install drivers from cd but I get the same error, I download drivers from their website but same problem. It only started happening after I installed the latest bios v3.7. I use the ide stuff for my cd rom
3rd. I read that is bad for memeory to run in 2T. When my system boots up it says something along the lines of Dual Channel 400 2T. I read that it should run in 1T but I have no idea where to change it. I have OCZ Premier Series ram (2x512)

What connector type is used to plug a guitar into an iPad?  Does it connect to the earphone jack?

Actually you can get something like this from your local mac store. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig/ It plugs right into the earphone jack and works fine (I own this model and it works well on the go). For my actual mac, I use a Monster iStudioLink, which I have heard will work with the iPad 2 (but with some bugs - see the comments on the Monster website) http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=2440

I saw an add for an HDMI cable that I was wondering whether anyone could tell me if compatible w the Droid Charge?  It's about half the price of the Verizon sold cable which is not available anyway.  Both Samung and Verizon support simply gave up and could not even tell me the connector type I needed!
Here's the info from the add:
    Features:
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first and only industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface.
HDMI provides an interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television(DTV), over a single cable..
HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable.
It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

  • PA-POS-OC3-LR Sc connector type?

    Hi to all,
What I need to know is what kind of connector use the PA-POS-OC3-LR. I can see in the manual that is SC connector but it does not specify if it´s SC/PC or SC/APC,
Could you confirm it to me?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Jorge Gómez

    Should be SC/PC.
I've never seen a piece of Cisco equipment that uses SC/APC. When they bother to specify more than just SC in the documentation, it's always been SC/PC.
There are other connector types that are compatible with SC/PC: for example, SC/SPC or SC/UPC. However, SC/APC is NOT compatible with anything else except SC/APC. That's why they generally make the APC connector body or the strain relief behind it green in color, to distinguish it from other types.
If you connect an SC/APC to something other than SC/APC, the result will be more insertion and return loss than either connector type would produce on its own.
Search http://www.cisco.com for the term "SC/APC" and you will find warnings that connecting an SC/APC connector to some Cisco equipment can damage the receiving optics.
Stay away from SC/APC unless you know you need it. You'll know when you need it: they'll tell you.

If I need a new network interface card (NIC) for my W700, what connector types, besides USB, are available?
What is the contact number for Lenovo support for W series? When I click Contact Us, it asks for my model type. But there is no choice for W model.

Express card is just another option, but I have never used either for a network port, since I haven't used  a machine without one since the old days on windows NT when you needed a PC Card adapter to get network access.  The dock is best if it works.  If your physical port or the connections to it are damaged, a dock is fine, but the port in the dock would use the same signaling chip on your motherboard.  If that chip has failed, a dock won't help.  I assume that you have checked that the ethernet isn't turned off in the BIOS.  It is under security/I-O Port access.  I read through your old thread and I never saw anyone suggest that.  It is always the first thing I suggest to try after asking "is it turned on".

  • CUP Connector type SAP EP LDAP

    Hi Experts,
I noticed the connector type SAP EP LDAP the other day when setting up some new ABAP connectors.  Does anyone know what this type of connector is used for?  I couldn't find any documentation on it.

    Hi Christopher,
this is what I got told - I'm not sure whether this made it into the doco yet:
"  SAPEP  LDAP is used for LDAP Group provisioning. It will have 2 LDAP connectors mapped.  Internal and External.  In CUP you can import the  groups form these two ldaps and provision them using Access Request. "

  • Northbridge Fan Problem w/Neo4 Plat Mobo

My Northbridge fan is going on my new Neo4 Platinum mobo.  I can't even begin to express how pissed off I am right now.  Anyway MSI is sending me out a new fan, but since I have to take the mobo out of the case anyway, I want to buy a new heatsink and fan.  Does anyone have a suggestion on a good HSF that's cheap and where I can buy it?  That is cheap in price, not in quality.
I also have another question that's unrelated.  I was working on someone else's computer the other day installing a new HSF for him...a Thermalright XP-90C.  Anyway when I went to remove the old stock HSF, not only did the HSF come out but so did the CPU WITHOUT lifting up the retention mechamism lever.  Now before anyone says how stupid that was of me, I don't know how it could be done otherwise.  The lever was completely covered by the HSF.  I couldn't twist the HS either because it was inside the retention mechanism which only allows vertical movement.  Does anyone know how to remove a CPU like this??  The CPU ended up working miraculously despite the fact that it was ripped from the socket.  I think that's poor design implementation on mobo designers.  If the retention mechanism lever was located outside the retention mechanism, then it wouldn't a problem and you could properly lift up the lever as your removing the heatsink.  One of the reasons I bring this up is when I install a new NB fan, I might have to remove my HSF.  I don't want it accidently falling off while I turn my mobo over to release the old NB fan clips.
    Thanx in advance!

Quote from: Arioch on 23-July-05, 07:44:59
I just twist the HSF back and forth. Even with the minute leaway that exist within the retention mechanism, you loosen the grip of the paste by doing that. Another trick is to get the paste more fluient first by heating up the HSF with a hairdryer. And in the end, do not put more paste than the amount of 1.5 coocked grain of rice. That is enough, if you spread it  in the center of the CPU.
Thanx, I'll remember that the next time I have to remove another HS as well as my own.  Now does anyone have any suggestions on a better Northbridge fan??

  • P7N SLI Platinum - JCD1 connector in the way of GTX280

    Good day,
Just took delivery of my new rig, Quad core with 4Gb ram and a single GTX280 NVidia card on tap.
Problem is, when I inspected though the casing window, the graphics card had been placed in the E2 slot, (light blue) rather than the recommended E1 slot (dark blue).
When I asked the builder why that was done - "it doesn't fit in the E1 slot".
I checked this out when I got home and found the JCD1 connector (CD in connector) on the mainboard interferes with the port end of the card .
Reading the manual it recommends to use E1 slot for a single graphics card as its PCI x16. With the card sat in a PCI x8 slot, what performance losses am I going to get if any? Anyone else encountered this issue?
I have no budget for a 2nd card at the moment, would appreciate some help and suggestions.
    Thanks
    Pete

I just got the PC back from the builders, and after showing the website to them, the pictures of the piece, they had no problem removing the cover from the JCD1 connector to place the card in the PCIx16 slot. They also said as it was just a cover, this would not effect the warranty - nice of them - all was ok except they forgot to reconnect the side fan plug to the power supply
As far as I know, if you want to use SLI with GTX260/280 and this mainboard, you will need to perform this mod to make it possible.
    Thanks for your time.
    Pete

  • Connector types for internal drive

I purchased a replacement drive for my iMac and it appears to have a differnt connector type (pins vs. slot tabs). Is this because the drive doesn't say SATA on it? PS: I thought that was what I was buying...argh! Is there something else that I should be aware of? Does it matter SATA-150 or SATA-300?

    Hello,
If it is the only drive in the system, then it should work with the jumper in the position that the drive arrived with it in.
The drive should have a picture somewhere on the label or printed / etched on the surrounding area near the jumpers.
There should be a Default / Only Drive / Single setting. A Master Setting. And a Slave Setting.
If it is the only drive (as it would be with an iMac G5), then it should be set as Default / Only Drive / Single (or whatever the drive's label terms that as).
If there is no such setting, then it should be in "Master" setting.
But, if you remember how the drive arrived, I'd place the jumper there.
Once the drive is installed, it will not be recognized until it has been formatted.
Once you boot from the restore / install disk, you will see some menus at the top of the screen. Look through the menus for Disk Utility.
Then, once Disk Utility is open, it should show the drive in the left-hand side. You can then select the drive, then move to the partition tab and either set it up in one large partition or divide it up if you desire to have it separated into 2 or more volumes.
You can read about the general partitioning and formatting procedure here:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/partitioningtiger.html
Once it has been partitioned and formatted, then you can exit Disk Utility and continue on with the OS X installer.
    I hope this helps.

  • "Scrambled" graphics at boot - MSI 6600GT, Neo4-f mobo

I've tried the search option and I don't seem to be able to find this exact problem, but here it goes:
I recently built a new system with a K8N Neo4-F motherboard, 1gig Kingston Ram, Athlon64 3500+, and a 128 MB GeForce 6600GT (also MSI). I'm not sure if I have a graphics issue, a monitor issue, or a motherboard issue, but in either case, every now and then, when I boot my machine I get "scrambled" graphics when the POST screen appears. The system continues to load Windows XP (screen still looks messed up), and just before it's done loading windows, the screen just shuts off.
When the machine boots without these symptoms (the majority of the time) I have no problems. Windows loads just fine, games load and run just fine with no glitches and I can play for hours without a single problem.
I update my BIOS from 1.A0 to 1.B0 last night but have not had a chance to really "monitor" the problem since. LiveUpdate said my graphics card BIOS is up to date.
    Any thoughts?
    A couple other details:
I'm using a 17 inch CRT monitor, and my PSU is a 360 Watt Thermaltake unit.
Ow and PS: Before anybody suggests, I do not have any replacement parts, nor do I know anybody that has a new enough PC that I can try the card in another machine

    You're welcome, ChrisB.
If, as it seems, we have the same problem, I sincerely doubt that your MoBo is concerned. I had the opportunity to test the card on a friend's PC, moreover the techno-guy of the store checked it out again. That is to say 3 different MoBos... and always the same issue. When things like this happen you can be pretty sure that the card is the faulty item. So don't worry  . Actually, when I managed to boot the PC, the card worked perfectly, therefore I first decided to just ignore the problem. But these kind of events have the terrible power of a to annoy you to death, and every boot was to my eyes a painful experience ("Will it happen again?"). That's why I decided to RMA the card.
    Good luck and see you

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
My problem does indeed sound exactly like what you experienced. I think I've just about exhausted every option by now. I've been a bit hestitant to RMA the card because it's a periodic problem so my concern was that I would just get the card back with "no problems found".
I seriously hope it's the graphics card and not the MB, cause I can't stand the thought of having to reinstall the motherboard  :D

  • Infinity extension connector types ?

Had BT Infinity for a while now and all OK(ish). On installation I had a 6 meter extension between the master socket and the Openreach modem fitted as I wanted the modem (and Home Hub) at the other side of the room.
I now don't need the extension as the modem will now sit next to the master socket. Problem: I unplugged the extension from the master socket and tried to plug the modem straight into the master socket > problem was it wont go in as it's not the same connector on the master socket as the socket on the end of extension. Hope that makes sense. This means I have to have the 6 meter extension lead in there.
Can somebody explain the connectors (RJ11/RJ45) to me and what I need to get around this. Is there a small lead that I can get with the correct connector to go straight from my OR modem to master socket?

A simple dsl cable with rj11 plugs on both end will do the job.
