Nero Crash

Since my last fresh reinstall of xp pro I have a a hell of a time trying to keep the OS from crashing after the CD is done. It never fails that after writing a CD sometimes immediately but more often a few minutes later Windows will just bomb out with a BSOD. I've been trying to catch it so that I can read the error on the blue screen but it's gone before I can read the first line. I had Nero 5.5 and I am now using Nero 6. The software has the latest updates and the firmware on the drive is up to date also. Any suggestions are appreciated. I've scoured the web, Nero sight included looking for some insight into this prob' with no luck.
Again any help is appreciated. I can still write the discs but is damned annoying.

I didn't know that. Cool. Thanx. I just installed the latest chipset driver for the board and then burned a CD with no crash. It will take a bit more testing before I completely believe its fixed but so far so good. I can't believe it might have been something so simple when I have had this problem for so long. I usually keep up with the updates for all my hardware. Apparently that one slipped through the cracks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and I'm rechecking all my other hardware for the latest updates, Windoze too.

USB 2.0 on KT3 Ultra (NEC chip)

Last December I bought a Hauppauge Win TV Nova-T USB unit for digital TV and Radio. I thought I'd make use of the USB2 sockets. The USB2 sockets work no better than the VIA USB1 sockets. Performance appears to bandwidth limited. The problem exists with XP SP1 and WIn 2k SP3 (with the patch from the MSI driver page). I have in the Device Manager 'NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller B1' which is what is supposed to be there. All updates got from Microsoft. Resources for this Controller shows it's using IRQ 16, along with the Graphics card and Firewire PCI card. Using ACPI it cannot be moved.
I've just got hols off the Sony DRX 500 UL USB2 DVD writer. It has both Firewire and USB2 interfaces. Firewire works a treat but USB2 wont. It identifies the Sony OK but Nero crashes usiny the USB2.
Everything points to the NEC chip.
My mates bought a KT3 Ultra 2 (with the VIA USB2 chip) and it works a treat.
Anyone got an NEC chipped mobo with USB2 working?

AGP and USB are allway's tied together.....
But as you are using IRQ16, it means you have APIC turned on...
You need to change the HAL if you change the APIC, see the good article forum on this.
You might want to run without APIC, not all devices/drivers like this....

Burning ISO of CD 1 (software1/2)

Hello,
I tried to burn the image with Nero 5 on CD, but nero crashes... (tried with 2 different PCs). Then I have burned a CD under CDRecord (linux), WinOnCD (win2k), but the CD is unreadably.
Have anyone the same problem?

i'm trying to get the gist of this but...
i'm using itunes 6.0.4, on a new g5, with 10.4.5, and i burned some cd's from my playlist tonight, and the playlist song titles were missing from the FIRST cd i burned, of what becomes a two cd burn. in other words, more than one cd needed to burn the playlist. all i got was 'track 1' etc. the remaining song titles appear on the SECOND cd. why is this? is this specific to the new version? why do song titles appear on a burned cd where the playlist only requires one cd?
on my desk, is my old half-basketball imac...i used it tonight to burn a few of these cd's, and all the song titles appeared on all the cd's. it's using itunes version 6.0.3. in any case, how do the songs appear only in certain cases?
where is the window that opens that asks to 'name this cd'?
by reading here, it would appear that i should never have been able to see song titles when i put a cd i burned into the player. but i have. always. and i don't have toast, or jam. so what's up with this??

Bizarre DR16-B2B dual layer failiure

I purchased an MSI DVD dual-layer burner some time ago (I believe it is a DR16-F2, but not sure). It has been working absolutely perfectly for ages (apart from an issue with Nero's 'verify' function, but never mind that).
Recently, I have just got round to using some dual-layer discs. They are Richo DVD+R DL 8.5GB 2.4x -- and are EXTRODINARILY EXPENSIVE, as dual layer discs typically are. I have wasted 2 discs on this problem I'm having.
The drive happily burns the first layer, but when nero says "burning layer 2" in the log, it either: returns a burn-error message in nero, or the drive continues burning (or so the LED status would suggest) but nero gets no further respose from drive or sends any further data to it. My machine absolutely rules, so it doesn't actually crash until I attempt to abort the operation in Nero, then Nero crashes and I have to shut it from TaskMan. The drive continues flashing red (ie the drive itself has 'crashed' and I can not open it to remove the disc without restarting the machine).
I am running Win2k Pro SP4.... the rest of my system info is in the signature at the bottom.
My Nero is the actual "Nero Express" thing I got bundled with the drive.
My country is UK (hence the drive is fixed to Region 2, not that it's important).
The serial for my DVD burning drive is DR16-B2BQ045.
It is a perculiar behaviour considering there are no problems burning layer 1. The drive CLAIMS (on the box and all) to support DVD9 (dual-layer).
Anyone experienced this before? Anyone got any tips for burning dual layer? Any ideas at all, really?

This began shortly after I installed my new CD burner with Nero 9 burning software, about the same time I also installlerade my new Nikon camera software ViewNX2, I ran Avira scan and Microsoft Egan virus scan and they say everything is good in it, he reported a few times, I ran Avira scan of your computer and Microsoft's own Virus Scanning and they say everything is good in it, he reported a few times, tried again now and the sound is heard all the way but the image is still, therefore gentle freezes, got no number on the bug report so I can not say that. Also ask your pardon for errors in language that may be present but hope you understand anyway!

In Firefox, when downloading a PDF, Nero opens and crashes. Why and why Nero?

Some web pages have a link to a PDF document; when I try to open the link Nero attempts to open but crashes; I don't know why Nero is opening. Even on the "right-click to save" option it opens. Nero asks to be debugged and/or report the crash.

Nero aac crashing itunes 10.1.1.4

I had a lot of songs ripped via Nero prior to moving to iTunes. I'm running up against two issues with Nero-encoded songs:
- I'm running airtunes, the nero-encoded songs will not play on any of my remote devices via airport express devices (the songs play on my local machine)
- certain nero-encoded songs cause itunes to crash. I've noticed that songs encoded with the 2.6.x version of aac cause the crash, so far songs encoded with 3.2.x version do not.
I'm trying to go back & re-import songs that I find, but I don't think there is a way to do a search to find songs that are not encoded by some version of iTunes.
Until I loaded 10.1.1.4, I just had the first issue, annoying but not unbearable. Now that the thing crashes every few songs, very annoying.
Any hints (other than 'find & re-rip every nero-encoded song'...) much appreciated.

I have this issue as well. I have an iPhone 3G 16GB, just updated to the latest iTunes and 4.2.1 firmware. I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I've spend like 1,5 hours total reorganizing apps, all for nothing.

Bootcamp - Vista - Nero 9 - Crashing

I have "Nero 9" installed on Bootcamp Vista Ultimate and every time I use it, it'll work just fine UNTIL I touch the mouse pad. Then Nero just crashes. If I used a bluetooth mouse it won't crash. What would make this happen? Do I need to do something to the mouse pad driver in Vista?

Did you install the Windows drivers that come on the OS X Installer Disc One that came with your computer? Did you then upgrade them to the 2.1 Vista drivers from Apple - support.apple.com/downloads/?
For problems with Windows and Windows applications you should post either in the Windows or Boot Camp forum. For specific Windows applications you should check with the program developer's tech support.

Maverick keeps crashing on my macbook pro.

Hi, I upgraded the OS on my macbook pro back in December to Mavericks. I needed to update the firmware on a unit I was installing and it required Windows, thus needed to bootcamp. The crashing started there after and has progressed until now it crashes about 6-7 times a day. I've both upgraded the RAM and had the hard drive replaced since then (neither really helped with the crashing). I'm reasonably computer literate (B.S. Physics, tech geek, programming a 3d Vessel Simulator and the hydrodynamics for the model), I'm just not that familiar with Macs. Please find below the ethercheck printout. Back to square one: new iTunes and QuickTime CRASH, CRASH, CRASH

I've been struggling with iTunes and QuickTime ever since the upgrade to 6.0.4. Everything worked just fine until then, and has worked fine since I got my iPod last June.
A couple of days after the upgrade to 6.0.4 iTune started crashing, with the error message: iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Please note this is only about using iTunes to play music on my computer (my iPod seems to be working fine.)
I've removed iTunes and QuickTime, reinstalled them, and this works for a couple of days, then iTunes starts crashing again (this has now happened twice.)
Strangely, this time, tunes in Party Shuffle at start up (from the last normal exit of iTunes) play just fine, but when I try to play something out of Library or swtich to a different genre or playlist in Party Shuffle, the programme crashes: iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I've tried opening QuickTime alone, and it fails to open (no error message) it gets as far as the player, then there's a windows "thunk" and QuickTime closes.
So now I will uninstall, reinstall (starting with QuickTime, which seems to be the real culprit here) and maybe it will work for a couple of days. Computers are supposed to save time, not take up time in this way.
I don't seen any sign or word of a new version of QuickTime with a fix to this problem (many seem to be having it). How long do I have to go on this way. Perhaps the best is just to use another Windows Media Player or Nero ShowTime ... these seem to function without any sort of problem.

I do keep my computer under pretty tight wraps: Outpost firewall, AVG anti-virus, MS Anti-spyware. Ran the Ewido scan as suggested, Ewido did find quite a few cookies it considered of medium threat spyware ... removed these, and this did not resolve the problem with iTunes/QuickTime. Anyway, I'm not sure that cookies can cause programmes to crash?
I still think that it's unlikely that the problem with iTunes and QuickTime starting right after the upgrade to iTunes 6.0.4 and its QuickTime counterpart, is just a coincidence.
And if QuickTime is particularly vulnerable to some malware that none of the security programmes on my machine can find, and malware that has no effect on any other programmes, including other media players, then maybe this vulnerablity should also be something Apple should try to address.

Just installed Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - Crashes upon opening a new Project

I've just installed Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 10 on one of our marketing user's PC, and while Photoshop works like a charm, Premiere Elements 10 crashes every time you try to create a new project. I had read about the fingerprint problem in the forums and deactivated that before my first post.
I am reasonably proficient with CS6 web/design, but I don't have a lot of tech knowledge.
While working today, I had trouble with Acrobat X and had to uninstall/reinstall. I have done more restarts in the last 36 hours!
I uninstalled/reinstalled PrE ... in case something that I had done had helped! Organizer opens but not PrE.
I will put the EventViewer stuff at the end of the post. I didn't know there was an EventViewer until today!
It says something about PCI bus. I went to control panel, etc., devices and there were two instances of PCI bus. I asked Windows to update the driver for both and got a message that it had the most up to date driver. Also indicated they were working properly. When I sent the link at the bottom of the EventViewer info to Windows, I got a screen saying it was an unknown error.
I bought PrE on Saturday ... to replace NERO. I thought it would be more consistent with the other programs I use, but maybe I should cut my losses and go back to NERO??? What do you think?

Quicktime crashes while watching video uploaded to pc from digital camera

I have several clips that I uploaded to my computer from my digital camera. They upload as quicktime movies.
If I just double click on the movie to open it, it opens using Quicktime (version 7.5 with latest security updates also done). The video is very jerky with poor quality colour flashes coming in and out and then after a few seconds it crashes and I get a message saying that Quicktime has to close and Windows will notify me if they find a solution to the problem.
Interestingly, if I right click on the video and choose to open the video using iTunes, the video will play perfectly - so there is nothing wrong with the video clip itself.

i am having the same problem, except when i try to open it using itunes it also closes down and gives me that error message. I also tried opening the files with nero and the problem occurs there also. i wish there was a fix for this because quicktime 6 worked great.

Firefox 20 just installed. Crashes regularly on machine running Win7 Home Premium, but doesn't on my Vista PC

I have recently installed Firefox 20 on both my computers. One is a Dell mahine running Vista Home Premium, one is an Asus running Win 7 Home Premium. I have never had any trouble running Firefox on either of these machines before.
The computers are both synced and share bookmarks and all other syncable information
The Firefox on my Vista machine is stable, but the Win 7 machine crashes regularly, sometimes after just a few minutes of uptime regardless of what sites I visit or what I do with my browser.

WD TV Live HD media player keeps crashing when trying to play a recent *.mvk movie

I am new to this community and I would like some help with the following issue please?
I have a WD TV LiveHD media player with the following details:
Firmware version 1.06.43_V
P/N WDAAP0000NBK-00
S/N [Deleted]
I use this device as a standalone media player; connected to an WD external HD via USB cable and connected to a Sony TV with a HDMI cable.
Recently I have downloaded some new movies (.mkv extension). When I navigate to the folder and select the file to play; it tries to play it, displays information of the length of the movie in hours, minutes and seconds and simultaneously crashes. It does reboot again after couple of minutes; however any additional attempt will result in the same outcome. Device has no problems with the old files (i.e. movies from 2014).
I have performed a hard reset, deleted the .wdtv folder, etc. with no luck...

Premiere Pro 5.5 Crashes on Startup

Hi There,
I hope you are all well.
I have a small problem.
When i open Premiere Pro 5.5 on my PC it crashes on startup.
What happens is that when i click on the shortcut, the logo comes as normal and the plug ins etc seem to load.
The where it would normally open into the software, the screen goes white and the NOT RESPONDING text appears in the top left next to the name of the software. I then get a message saying that it has stopped working and windows will try and create an error report, which it doesn't.
If i restart my PC and try again, it opens fine. But if i close Premiere, use another piece of software and try to open it again, the same problem occurs.
Would anybody know what is causing this?
I will list my PC specs and some of the software below if it will help.
